The last time we spoke to Anthony Alfredo he was grasping the fact that he had a ride with Richard Childress Racing, so we're checking back in with him to see what it's like to be a Cup Series rookie at Front Row Motorsports. And it's a challenging time to be a rookie, too. Alfredo explains why; if there have been any seconds thoughts or frustrations; how big the Olympic break was for his team; adjusting to longer races and a longer schedule; how the people at Front Row have helped with his development; finding there are more critics at the Cup level; how life changes when you become a Cup driver; ways Alfredo's training has changed; looking at another driver's visor camera and using SMT data; the advice that has stuck with him; working hard for little gains; new interest in his nickname; why he was operating heavy machinery lately; a new sponsor for Michigan and Richmond. Joey Logano and T.J. Majors took the victory Sunday at Kansas Speedway to advance to the championship race at Phoenix. T.J. describes the No. 22 team’s day and how he helped guide Logano to block Kevin Harvick in the run to the finish. Brett Griffin and Freddie Kraft, reluctantly, give T.J. props and talk about how difficult passing was in the Cup Series race and the frustration it created. Chase Elliott’s team faced communication issues throughout the race. What’s it like when the spotter can’t talk to the driver and should the No. 9 team have been penalized? The guys weigh in and T.J. shares a similar experience. A massive wreck in the Xfinity Series race landed Anthony Alfredo upside down. Prior to the crash, Brett sent a controversial tweet about Alfredo and he explains it all right here. Find out why Alfredo’s moves on the track had heightened stakes behind them and what it means for his future. Plus, the crew talks about decisions being made for the Xfinity Series in 2021 and how the business of the series is changing. In the second installment of Reaction Twitter, T.J. learns that even if his team wins, fans will be upset. Freddie finds out fans think Bubba Wallace would be a better football player than race car driver. And Brett suffers the consequences of calling a guy out right before he flips in the race. Lastly in Ask DBC, the gang talks about pleasing both diehard and casual fans, Clint Bowyer’s relationship with the choose rule and Jimmie Johnson’s send-off. Learn more about your ad choices. McAfee (7:03) has forged relationships with Richmond Raceway and Xfinity Series driver Anthony Alfredo, and saw the demand for his product skyrocket due to the sim racing boom during the coronavirus pandemic. He's kept up with the demand and kept racing in real-life, too. Tyler Arrington (22:46) is the reigning American Crate All-Star Series champion and is coming off a huge $10,000 payday at Wythe Raceway. But success on dirt didn't stop him from taking on the pavement at Lonesome Pine Raceway.

We close out our time with Richard Childress Racing with two final interviews featuring another one of the drivers of the No. 21 and its crew chief. Myatt Snider is back on the podcast to discuss his opportunity to run part-time with RCR and how the first few weeks have been. Snider discusses how he likes to approach a controversial situation, like after being upset with Noah Gragson in Las Vegas; what he’ll do to stay up to speed with RCR and RSS Racing (who he’s also driving for) when he’s not competing; Snider’s relationship with teammates Anthony Alfredo and Kaz Grala; if he took away from the Euro Series what he’d hoped and the lessons that will translate; how and why he’s also going to run with RSS Racing; if he feels he needs to win in the RCR car. Then met Andy Street, who is getting his chance to be a NASCAR Xfinity Series crew chief after never imagining he’d get such an opportunity. Street shares some history on his own racing career before getting in the door at RCR; some of his memories from previous roles with the company for Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer’s teams; why he believes more and more teams are turning to engineers to become crew chiefs; what the challenges will be working with multiple drivers; what the makeup of the 21 team will be after most of the guys graduated with Tyler Reddick and Randall Burnett; the interesting dynamic with Street’s wife also working at RCR; and what the expectations for the 21 team should be.
