In this episode of Bottled Up, Andrew Allen talks with Chris and Payton Gollott, owners of The Frosty Mug in Wiggins, Mississippi. Chris shares his background growing up in D'Iberville, MS., his lifelong experience in the restaurant industry, and the journey to acquiring The Frosty Mug in December 2023. He discusses balancing tradition with new ideas, improving menu quality, and the importance of maintaining the community's beloved gathering spot. Payton, Chris's son, talks about joining the family business while studying business in college and how the hands-on experience is shaping his future goals. The Gollott family emphasizes community involvement, small changes for big improvements, and their vision to expand The Frosty Mug while staying true to its roots. If you're in Wiggins, check out their classic burgers and milkshakes, and experience a true local treasure. 3 Episode Key Takeaways 1. Preserving Community Heritage: Chris and Payton emphasized how important the Frosty Mug is to the Wiggins community. The restaurant has a long legacy and deep ties—people have worked there across generations, gotten engaged there, and even requested the Frosty Mug to cater their weddings. When Chris and his family took ownership, their main goal was not to drastically change things but to build on its nostalgic and historic value while making careful, thoughtful improvements. 2. Thoughtful Modernization: Rather than overhauling everything after purchasing the Frosty Mug, Chris took time to observe and gradually implement improvements, especially focused on quality and process in the kitchen. They enhanced recipes (like making sauces in-house and improving their grilled chicken), modernized operations with digital platforms, and sought to blend a classic 1960s feel with present-day conveniences, highlighting a respect for tradition while aiming for efficiency and better guest experiences. 3. Community Engagement and Growth Vision: Payton and Chris described a community-first approach, with deep involvement in local schools, events, and outreach spearheaded by Chris's wife. They have started catering, sponsored local teams, and introduced new services like breakfast. Their vision includes both physically expanding the restaurant (adding indoor seating, maybe enclosing patios) and potentially growing The Frosty Mug brand to other communities while preserving its unique, nostalgic character. Sneaker Convention Vision: The idea for Mississippi Sneaker Culture and its events came about after recognizing a gap in the regional market for sneaker conventions. Seeing a lack of such events between Houston and Atlanta, Randy and John decided to create a unique and upscale sneaker event, setting Mississippi apart by providing a polished environment for sneaker enthusiasts to gather, trade, and interact. 3. Growth and Community Engagement: Their initial event exceeded expectations, attracting around 250 attendees and receiving positive vendor feedback. This success showcased a demand for regional sneaker events, motivating them to continue organizing these conventions. Additionally, they emphasize community engagement by integrating giveaways, maintaining a professional setup, and involving local sponsors to foster a strong local sneaker culture.

This week on Diving In Deep with Sara Evans! Sara welcomes Levi Hummon, the talented son of renowned songwriter Marcus Hummon. In this engaging conversation, Levi shares his journey in the music industry, from his early days in Nashville to his recent successes, including his hit song "Paying For It" featuring Walker Hayes.Discover the challenges and triumphs of trying to make it as an artist in today's ever-changing music landscape. Levi opens up about his experiences with record deals, the importance of social media, and the influence of his family, including his mother, Becca Stevens, who runs the impactful organization Thistle Farms.Tune in as they discuss songwriting, collaboration, and the unique bond between Levi and his father, Marcus. Plus, get a glimpse into Levi's personal life as he shares exciting news about his upcoming wedding!Listen to Unbroke: (https://ffm.to/seunbroke). About Levi Hummon:Singer-songwriter Levi Hummon spent his early 20s practicing his art, but his immersion into country music started much, much earlier. From the day he was born, his father Marcus Hummon, (one of Nashville's most prolific GRAMMY-winning songwriters [The Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts]) immersed Levi in the music scene, and It didn't take long to realize the apple didn't fall far from the tree. At 24, Levi began releasing music of his own. Cleancut and compelling, he told stories of love and loss while building a loyal fanbase that has grown with him through every bend and break. As a Nashville native who was inspired by the legacies around him and had an undeniable gift of songwriting, it was no surprise that 5 years, 30 released songs, and 100 million streams later as an independent artist, Levi had created a name for himself. In 2021, his viral Walker Hayes collaboration sensation “Paying for It” cemented Levi's status as a rising country star. This sparked a new sense of confidence both on stage and in writing rooms that allowed him to discover the magnitude of his potential as an artist, and a new authentic version of Levi emerged. His follow-up tunes, “Bottled Up,” “For Me,” “Good Riddance,” and “Drink On” are the product of just that. Hummon says, “taking risks, finding my own voice, and showing the scars and roughness around the edges allowed me to portray the most honest version of myself”. Coming off of his first headlining tour in the Fall of ‘21, Levi found himself to be in high demand in the spring and summer of 2022. Warming up the stage for acts like Hardy, Jordan Davis, Brett Eldridge, Brett Young, and Dylan Scott, he was able to experience in person the effects of this momentum and the reward for being unapologetically himself. While listeners across genres are creating the demand now more than ever for both a 90's country comeback and an early 2000's alternative rock revival, Levi's new music has established a unique lane paved by boLET'S BE SOCIAL:Follow Levi Hummon:Instagram – (@levihummon)TikTok – (@levihummon)Facebook – (@levihummon)Website -- levihummon.comFollow Diving in Deep Podcast:Instagram –(@divingindeeppod)TikTok – (@divingindeeppod)Twitter – (@divingindeeppod)Facebook – (@divingindeeppod)Follow Sara Evans: Instagram – (@saraevansmusic)TikTok – (@saraevansmusic)Twitter – (@saraevansmusic)Facebook – (@saraevansmusic)Produced and Edited by: The Cast Collective (Nashville, TN)YouTube – ( @TheCastCollective

In Episode 76, Sunny Bahuguna sits down with Anne-Sophie Martin. From her roots in Montreal to her experience in New York at a top management consultancy and her time at Stanford, Anne-Sophie's story is one of resilience, introspection, and growth.Anne-Sophie's upbringing was filled with family warmth and a love for dance and sports. Her transition to New York brought success but also challenges, navigating anxiety and mental health stigma. This often manifests differently for different people, but for her, it was characterised by hair loss, facial swelling, and fluctuations in her appetite. She eventually made the difficult decision to take medical leave—a choice met with curiosity and misunderstanding from her peers. But it was through this process that she found a growing interest in mental health.Last year, she penned a piece on Medium titled "The 20% that may make you lose your mind." It recounted a moment at a wedding where she crossed paths with a Stanford alum who graduated over a decade ago. After sharing her well-rehearsed spiel about her own experience being "incredible" and filled with personal growth, the alum shared the contrary: "Stanford was the two hardest, most stressful years of my life."This candid admission caught her off guard and prompted deep reflection. We delve deeper into the story and Anne-Sophie's experience at Stanford—the mixture of highs and lows—and her efforts to shed light on the often-overlooked struggles that challenge students' mental health, starting with her own story. This is the unspoken 20%.Now, after graduating from Stanford, Anne-Sophie shares insights into the chapter ahead—what self-care looks like, how writing has become a meditative experience, and what lies ahead for her.Hope you enjoy the listen as much as I enjoyed speaking with her. In Episode 70, Sunny Bahuguna sits down with Christopher LeMark from Chicago, USA. Christopher LeMark takes us on his journey to manhood, allowing us to feel the struggle and heartache of a little boy that simply wanted to be seen and loved. We gain a glimpse into the child welfare system that so many Black people are fearful of. It is this very fear that has served as the catalyst for Black families informally adopting their kin. However, blood relatives may not always be in the child's best interest. At the hands of his own family, Christopher endured physical, mental, and emotional abuse. His isolation and anger had him bound to be a statistic. Christopher's ability to tap into his imagination, express himself through writing and music, have built a foundation of resilience. Today, he speaks bravely about how he overcame his battles with depression and multiple suicide attempts and how he's now providing free mental health services for those in the Chicagoland area through his successful foundation, Coffee, Hip-Hop and Mental Health. What once defined LeMark, became the thing that awakened him to rewrite history, seek help, and change the course of his life to become the better version of himself. He moves through fear, leads with integrity, and heals alongside his peers and the community. One of his greatest joys and accomplishments? The birth of his son and the cultivation of beautiful chosen family.Available wherever you get your podcasts. ______________There are some sensitive topics we touch on regarding mental health so if there are any triggers for you please know there is support and there will be plenty of links in access below.LifeLine - Ph: 13 11 14 https://www.lifeline.org.au/Banksia Project - https://thebanksiaproject.org.au/Mr. Perfect - https://mrperfect.org.au/______________As always, Bottled Up is a passion project to help provide a voice to those many men who are going through the peaks and troughs of life. Connect with Amanda Kuda! Amanda Kuda can attest to the fact that you don't need to have a drinking problem for alcohol to be holding you back. Like a lot of successful young professionals, her life was a carousel of opportunities to drink that ultimately left her feeling unfulfilled in her spirit, relationships, and career. She didn't hit “rock bottom” or need a recovery program, but she did need a change. It was only when Kuda tried Dry January that she realized sobriety was the linchpin to a better life. In a culture that treats alcohol as a cure all to subdue anxiety, grieve, and celebrate, she found that cutting it out helped her and later, her clients feel truly well and finally reach her full potential. Today, Amanda is an alcohol-free lifestyle expert and coach helping ambitious, soul-centered women stop drinking and start manifesting the life they desire and deserve. Amanda's first book, Unbottled Potential: Break Up With Alcohol And Break Through To Your Best Life, will be hitting shelves on October 3, 2023, published by Penguin Random House / Avery. With an approach rooted in psychology and spiritual study, Unbottled Potential will challenge you to open your mind to the extraordinary possibilities of an alcohol-free life. This isn't just Dry January: this is an opportunity to investigate your relationship with alcohol and understand the true meaning behind “sober-curious.” Podcast: Unbottled Potential Podcast Instagram @AmandaKuda Purchase her Book: Unbottled Potential by Amana Kuda https://www.amandakuda.com
We had the pleasure of interviewing Levi Hummon over Zoom video!Singer-songwriter Levi Hummon spent his early 20s practicing his art, but his immersion into country music started much, much earlier. While listeners across genres are creating the demand now more than ever for both a 90's country comeback and an early 2000's alternative rock revival, Levi's new music has established a unique lane paved by both the influence of bands like Maroon 5, Weezer, and The Clash, and the Nashville community of songwriters he grew up with in his own backyard. As a country artist with now over 160 million streams, pulling from his skateboarding past, counter culture nostalgia and surfer aesthetic, Levi Hummon is paving the way for something big that hasn't quite been seen before. While hellbent on carrying on the family legacy, Levi Hummon is very much here to write his own story. Named one of Entertainment Weekly's “5 Artists Breaking Now” and Rolling Stone Country's “One to Watch”, it looks like his biggest chapter yet is right around the corner. We want to hear from you! It can sometimes feel like alcohol—whether you're drinking it or not—is an intrinsic element of navigating adulthood. After all, over 70 percent of American adults drink. We take drinking so much for granted that we often fail to really engage with the role it's playing in our lives. "It's been a piece of everything since we've turned 21, or 18," a listener named Cari told us. "We've always had a drink or been drinking when we've been at parties. And it's so funny that I'm 34, and that is a worry: that if I weren't drinking, maybe the party would move to someone else's house." We asked you to share your experiences with alcohol—why you drink or don't, the strategies you use to manage your consumption, and what alcohol brings you besides a buzz. And we learned that our feelings about alcohol are much more complicated than we tend to acknowledge. If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol or seeking more information about alcohol consumption, check out these resources.
