January 12, 1994. Albuquerque, New Mexico. After dropping off a friend at a restaurant, 16-year old Jonathan Francia is carjacked and abducted from the parking lot in his mother's Chevrolet Camaro. Five days later, the burned-out vehicle is discovered in the Arizona desert nearly 300 miles away and Jonathan's charred remains are inside the trunk. A suspect named Paul Richardson is soon arrested and confesses that he committed the crime alongside an unidentified drifter known only as “Jason”. Paul fatally hangs himself in his jail cell and while his wife, Trena Richardson, is later indicted after admitting to involvement in the murder, the charges wind up being dismissed after her confession is thrown out. Since the mysterious “Jason” is never identified or tracked down, no one is ever convicted of Jonathan's murder and the truth about what happened remains murky. On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore a brutal and frustrating crime which has yet to receive a conclusive resolution after three decades. The incident unfolded during a traffic stop at around 4 a.m. on U.S. Highway 78. Snellville Police stated that Johnson, when ordered out of his car for arrest, brandished a handgun and pointed it at his head. This set off a police chase through Norcross's streets, drawing the attention and resources of several law enforcement agencies. Throughout the pursuit, Sanchez navigated the hefty vehicle with erratic and unpredictable movements, weaving through heavy traffic and putting countless drivers at risk. The chase reached its climax when law enforcement strategically deployed another front loader alongside a garbage truck to intercept and halt the stolen vehicle. This maneuver successfully flipped the construction vehicle onto its side, bringing the chaotic chase to an end approximately five miles from where the theft initially occurred. Sanchez was arrested and now faces a slew of charges, including criminal trespass, theft, fleeing from police, reckless driving, and obstruction. Remarkably, the incident ended without any reported injuries or significant property damage. We'll be back in a moment. Break 3: HENRY CO SHERIFFS – ATL HEALTH FAIR STORY 6: 2 in 3 teens worry about how sick days may impact grades A recent study revealed that two-thirds of parents are concerned about their teens missing school due to illness impacting their grades. Many parents struggle with deciding if their child should stay home when they're not feeling well, considering factors like symptoms, contagiousness, and school attendance policies. The study, conducted by researchers at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital National Poll on Children's Health, surveyed 1,300 parents of children aged 11 to 18. Parents are more likely to keep kids home just to be safe, while others may send them to school hoping for the best. Sarah Clark, the study's lead author, recommends parents ask more questions to understand their child's request for a sick day, including considering mental health concerns. She suggests mental health days could help teens navigate social stressors and build resilience. However, parents of children with chronic medical conditions face challenges with school policies, and discussions with school administrators and healthcare providers may be necessary to ensure flexibility and support for these students. STORY 7: Georgia House panel set to vote whether to create a path for legalized online sports betting The House Higher Education Committee in Georgia is set to vote on sports betting legislation before the legislative session ends on Thursday. Debate within the committee has centered on how revenue from sports gambling should be allocated, with discussions on funding education programs, including pre-K and historically Black colleges and universities. Proposed amendments include increasing the state's tax revenue from sports betting and determining how to prioritize funding allocations. The legislation aims to regulate the online sports betting industry while generating revenue for educational initiatives, with supporters emphasizing the importance of gauging public interest through a constitutional referendum. The BMW, while attempting a left turn onto Peachtree Corners Circle, collided with the Camaro traveling south on the same route. The impact was on the BMW's driver's side door. The occupants of the BMW, Armas Harding and Laura Rueda, both from Brookhaven, were pronounced dead at the scene. The Camaro's driver and front-seat passenger sustained severe injuries. STORY 3: Local Democrats seeking re-election will face challenges from within their own party An array of Democrats in Gwinnett County is set to face internal party challenges in the forthcoming primary election, indicating a potential division within the party and lack of unanimous support for incumbent candidates. The list of challenged individuals includes County Commission Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson, Sheriff Keybo Taylor, District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson, District 3 Commissioner Jasper Watkins, and Tax Commissioner Denise Mitchell. Sheriff Keybo Taylor will find himself up against former contenders and Republicans in the primary. Similarly, District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson is set to compete against two prosecutors from her own office. Chairwoman Hendrickson faces opposition from ex-state Representative Donna McLeod; the victor will then go on to face a Republican candidate in the November elections. The school board, judicial positions, and congressional districts are also seeing contested races. State Representatives Derrick McCollum and David Clark have been confronted with challenges in the primaries. The retirements of Rep. Pedro Marin and Sen. Gloria Butler have instigated contested races for their replacement. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We'll be right back. Break 2: TOM WAGES STORY 4: Artificial intelligence identifying new potentially deadly COVID-19 variants Researchers from The University of Manchester and Oxford University have utilized an AI framework, known as CLASSIX, to rapidly identify and monitor emerging COVID-19 variants. This innovative system streamlines the processing of extensive genomic data, thereby automating the detection of potentially problematic strains. Utilizing this approach, researchers can analyze an impressive 5.7 million sequences in a span of one to two days. This not only significantly reduces the time and resources needed compared to traditional methods but also enables faster responses to new variants. The CLASSIX framework integrates dimension reduction techniques with explainable clustering algorithms. This combination allows for the grouping of similar sequences based on their genetic patterns, facilitating more efficient tracking of variants. STORY 5: Social media filters fueling desire for more plastic surgery A recent study suggests an alarming trend where individuals are pursuing plastic surgery to mimic the filtered images of themselves seen on social media platforms such as Snapchat and Instagram. This phenomenon, referred to as "Snapchat dysmorphia," stems from unrealistic beauty standards propagated by photo-editing applications. The researchers found a link between frequent social media use and an increased desire for cosmetic procedures. This is especially prevalent among individuals who heavily engage with filtered images and influencers. The study, carried out by Boston University, stresses the necessity for healthcare practitioners to consider the influence of social media on patients' self-perception and aspirations for cosmetic alterations. We'll be back in a moment. Alpine A110 (2017). 2. Chevrolet Camaro (2015). 3. Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat (2015). 4. Fiat 500 (2007). 5. Ford Mustang (2004). 6. Ford Thunderbird (2002). 7. Mini (2000). 8. Nissan Fígaro (1991). 9. Toyota Land Cruiser (2024). 10. Volkswagen ID. Buzz (2022). Bonus Track: Toyota Origin.

Time attack, hill climbs, street car challenges, this car does it all and more. With power at altitude a major focus of the current specs, the Dart Machinery block, 6 bolt GM Performance Parts LandSpeed Developments ported cylinder head and Shauns Custom Alloy intake are just a few parts that help the car produce torque low down and keep the 88mm Garrett turbo forcing air as it should. A MoTeC ECU is used with a custom Motorsport Electronics firmware package is used to control this race cars somewhat unique setup. Some clever suspension design and adjustment points which allow quick motion ratio changes that don't impact on overall car setup is just one feature the custom tube framed chassis offers with a transaxle rear (SADEV and Corvette combo) and approx 1450kg total weight.Mike also gives a great explanation on camber gain and their prototype/simplified rocket antilag system (ALS) that has been so successful there has been no need to produce the 'real' version just yet with some more testing and insight required to understand what makes what shouldn't work on paper amazing in reality. Another surprise discovery in the quest for peak performance racing up the side of a mountain was the exhaust size and pressure ratios seeing the setup run what a N/A engine normally would with again the real data tearing up the notebook.
An unsettling crime has shaken Atlanta's metropolitan area, once again revealing a harrowing tale of a tragic relationship fraught with violence and fear. The crime involves Cameron Ja'Michael Hopkins, a 20-year-old man who allegedly shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, Khaliyah Jones, during a police pursuit. This case is even more unnerving because Hopkins committed this heinous act while out on bond for a previous kidnapping involving the same victim. In an episode of the Hidden Killers Podcast, hosts Tony Brueski and Carol Hughes dissected the alarming details of the case. The distressing events unfolded late Sunday night when multiple 911 calls reported a man with a gun kidnapping a woman from a Wingstop. Witnesses identified the suspect, Hopkins, and the victim, Jones, who was seen fleeing the scene in a red Chevrolet Camaro. This triggered a police pursuit involving Fayetteville and Clayton County Police Departments that spanned multiple jurisdictions. The chase ended at Lovejoy High School, where the Fayetteville Police Department employed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver to stop the vehicle. In the ensuing chaos, multiple gunshots were heard from the suspect's vehicle, some of which even struck a police vehicle. Despite these extreme circumstances, law enforcement managed to apprehend Hopkins, but tragically, Khaliyah Jones was found inside the Camaro with fatal gunshot wounds. What makes this case even more harrowing is its repeat nature. Hopkins had allegedly kidnapped Jones for the first time exactly a year ago, an event that triggered the chain of legal procedures that eventually resulted in him being out on bond at the time of the fatal shooting. At that point, Hopkins faced charges including terroristic threats, kidnapping, criminal damage to property, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, and aggravated assault. The question posed by Brueski and Hughes reflects a shared frustration with the justice system: why was Hopkins out on bond, given the severity of his charges and his demonstrated potential for violence? This incident has raised serious concerns about the safety and protection of abuse victims, especially when the perpetrators are allowed back into society with minimal restraint. In light of this tragic event, questions remain about the support and resources available to abuse victims. How can they be expected to find safety and peace when their attackers walk free? Brueski and Hughes make a compelling case for improving the accessibility and efficacy of mental health resources, a critical component in helping abuse victims break free from the cycle of violence. As the story unfolds, the hope is for more light to be shed on the circumstances that allowed such a tragedy to occur. The devastating loss of Khaliyah Jones is a stark reminder of the potential consequences of a flawed system that struggles to protect the most vulnerable from repeated harm. This case and the hosts' riveting analysis on the Hidden Killers Podcast highlight the urgent need for systemic changes to protect victims from repeat offenders. The story of Cameron Ja'Michael Hopkins and Khaliyah Jones is a distressing example of the dire consequences when justice falls short, serving as a stark call to action for greater vigilance and reform.
Back in the mid-1980s, classic muscle cars weren't that cool, there were just old. Cars like Bandit Trans Am's, Chargers, AMXs… sure, they had a following, but they weren't sought after like today. Carburetors gave way to fuel-injection, and it seemed like every new car sold had air conditioning and power windows. And while late 1980s tech was cool 35-years ago, today, it could use an upgrade. That's why we here at Hemmings have decided to revamp a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z with a new EFI crate engine, a slick new 5-speed transmission, along with a host of other goodies. On this episode of the Hot Rod BBQ Podcast, host Mike Musto and Hemmings Terry McGean tell you why we chose this iconic Camaro and give you a little insight into the 6-part video series that you'll soon see on the Hemmings YouTube channel.
On this episode we discuss and ponder the new (10304) Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 1969 and what is great about it and the faults associated with it.Music: www.bensound.comLEGO, the LEGO logo, the Minifigure, and the Brick and Knob configurations are trademarks of the LEGO Group of Companies. ©2022 The LEGO Group.

The Brandon Brown Saga Continues … You've heard me on this podcast talk about NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Brandon Brown. The Talladega race winner that thanks to the help of NBC Sports reporter Kelly Stavast, became the rallying cry of 2021 with the infamous Let's Go Brandon chant. I have said multiple times that any company making money on the phrase should send money to Brown to help make sure his race team is able to go race every week. Finally, someone answered the call … and it wasn't who I was expecting, or even hoping it would be. LGBcoin will make its racing debut aboard Brown's No. 68 Chevrolet Camaro during the NASCAR Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 19, 2022. That's some great news right? Well, not too fast. It appears someone has their panties in a bunch regarding this news. Who? NASCAR of course. I'll break down all of the latest information on the Brandon Brown situation and give you some perspective on what's going on in the world of NASCAR.
