Brīnumains izgudrojums, kas vieglāks par gaisu un kam tika paredzēts nākotne pārvadāt pasažierus pāri okeānam. Dirižabļi aviācijas nozarei kalpoja gan par tehnoloģisku sasniegumu, gan rūgtu mācībstundu. Kā sākās un beidzās dirižabļu laikmets pasaulē? Par to runājam ar Rīgas Aeronavigācijas institūta direktoru Ilmāru Blumbergu un Latvijas Kara muzeja Ieroču un militārās tehnikas nodaļas vadītāju Daini Poziņu. Piedāvājam arī nelielu pārskatu par Latvijas nacionālas aviācijas attīstību – dažus pieturpunktus, jo, lai arī runa ir par īsu laika posmu, sākot no atsevišķiem interesentiem un viņu konstruētajiem aparātiem 20. gs. 20. gados līdz  rūpnīcai VEF, kur lidmašīnu būve beidzās 1942. gadā, vienā raidījumā visu mūsu aviobūves vēsturi nevar ietilpināt.  Runājot par vienotu aviācijas būvi Latvijas Republikā, flagmanis bija rūpnīca VEF, kur no 1935. līdz 1942. gadam tika izgatavotas 33 dažādu tipu lidmašīnas. Protams, nacionālā lidmašīnu būve mums saistās ar konstruktora Kārļa Irbīša vārdu, bet bez viņa ir jāmin vēl vesela rinda aviācijas būves speciālistu: Kārlis Švarcbahs, Kārlis Jansons, lidotājs un konstruktors Kārlis Bandenieks, galdnieks Žanis Knauke, metālists Kārlis Ozoliņš, metinātājs Feldmanis un citi. Pagājušā  gadsimta 20. gados parādās vairāki lidmašīnu konstruktori, kas intereses un prieka pēc sāk nodarboties ar  gaisa kuģu būvi, Talsos dzimušais avio konstruktors un lidotājs Nikolajs Pūliņš, zināmais lidotājs Herberts Cukurs un dedzīgais Kārlis Irbītis, kuru jau no zēnības ir aizrāvušas lidmašīnas. 1932. gadā Irbītis strādā jaunizveidotajā Valsts elektrotehniskajā fabrikā mehānikas nodaļā. Un par to, kā Irbīša idejas tika ieviestas VEF, stāsta VEF muzeja krājuma glabātāja Dace Kaprāne. Atgriežoties pie VEF pirmajiem lidmodeļiem un to tapšanu, kā savās atmiņas atceras Kārlis Irbītis, mūsu lidotājs Bandenieks jeb, kā mēs viņu saucām, «Bandiņš» kā sadedzis gribēja tūliņ sākt lidmašīnu mēģināt. „Atļāvu Bandiņam tomēr mazliet «pavīlēt» pa aerodromu. Viņš tad arī ar jauno lidmašīnu paskraidīja pa aerodromu, bet nenocietās un mazliet atrāva lidmašīnas riteņus no zemes. Atpakaļ pieskaršanās, par nelaimi, notika sagāztā stāvoklī uz vienu skrietuli, un tā tika ielocīta uz iekšu.” Citāta beigas. Protams – kad lidmašīna bija pilnībā izgājusi testu un atzīta par labu esam, tad arī lidojumi notika bez aizķeršanās. Mūsu lidaparāti devās arī pāri Latvijas robežām, lidmašīnas piedalās dažādās sacensībās Francijā un Anglijā, starptautiskā aviācijas izstādē Cīrihē. Bet, lai arī VEF īsais avioperiods izklausās kā veiksmes stāsts, tomēr tajā ir arī viena melna lappuse. Lidmašīnu būvi VEF uzsāka 1935. gadā un līdz 1942. gadam izgatavoja 33 dažādu tipu lidmašīnas. Kā saprotams, 1940. gadā rūpnīcas teritorijā saimnieko padomju iebrucēji un pēc tam turpmākos divus gadus te vēl gatavo lidaparātus vācu armijas vajadzībām.

And his music gives a natural sense of roots for those who need it most because he is among the few artists making music in Nashville today to have lived in three of America's most musically sacred places. Bandi is proud to follow in the lineage of legendary musicians from his native St. Louis. He was raised on his father's taste in obscure rock with a heavy dose of his mother's affinity for '90s country music. He remembers CDs being on the grocery list as a child and browsing the aisles of the city's many great record shops. The soundtrack riding with friends to high school football practice was a mix of Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw and fellow St. Louisan, Nelly. However, performance became life after attending his first concert where he saw Garth Brooks fly over the audience in a harness at St. Louis' Enterprise Center. In high school, he started his first band, a rock outfit that played throughout the city, including the iconic Duck Room at Chuck Berry's Blueberry Hill. He continued music in college at the University of Mississippi at Oxford by playing in a cover band with an alternative ambition to mostly get into bars and drink for free. It was his time in Mississippi that enriched a deeper dive into country music. The songs of early Luke Bryan and Eric Church spoke to the life he was living at the time. He honed his craft relentlessly playing the same small clubs that built Bryan and Church's loyal followings in college towns within a reasonable driving distance of Oxford Six days after receiving his degree in marketing and communications in 2013, he moved to Nashville to become a professional musician. He arrived with 100 original songs, and his first place was a friend's closet, where he slept on an air mattress. In his first few years in Music City, he got by on the money he made going back to play gigs in Oxford and St. Louis on the weekends. During the week, he treated Nashville writers' rounds and open mic nights as if they were their own tour, and he played constantly. Today we traveled to sunny L.A. to sit down with the Founder and Producer of Pink Poodle Productions, Marlene Sharp. Marlene has quite an impressive resume wearing many different hats in the Entertainment Industry. To name a few, Marlene has worked as a director and producer and an all-around key contributor in both iconic and niche franchises such as YO-KAI WATCH, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, POWER RANGERS, PINK PANTHER, and POSTMAN PAT.In this episode we some of the topics we talked with Marlene about are:The creative journey from growing up in New Orleans to working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles.Her role as a mentor for autistic artists at The Center for Learning Unlimited, &The new film trilogy she's working on, Young Captain Nemo. “I cannot lie and say that developing video game characters was my dream as a girl. It was not. I was interested in all different aspects of the entertainment industry, deal-making, writing, and producing, especially as it concerned me because there aren't as many roles for women.”Marlene's Creative Journey When Marlene got to Hollywood she fell into the video game-driven content business through her first temp job. She worked for a company called Bandi. The owner of the Bandi worked closely with Japan, which owned Power Rangers at the time. Her company was concerned with selling toys. Marlene talks a lot about the anime industry in this segment explaining that 99% of what kids entertainment business is about is first selling stuff, to sustain the business and this is mostly through consumer products. She would have to follow the development and then the production to make sure that the toys were being played within the correct play pattern to make kids want to buy them. imitating that role-playing in real life. A lot of the anime she received was very stream-of-consciousness storytelling. Which is not ideal for western audiences. They had to create a beginning, middle, and end.“There was a lot, there was creativity in the sense that we had to disguise the fact that we were selling so much because it wasn't supposed to be just a commercial for, for toys, there needed to be storytelling.”Marlene attended an all-girls school growing up in New Orleans. She went through what she explains as the hard knocks going through the “mean girl” experience. She feels this prepared her for the cutthroat industry in Hollywood. She felt a big change coming into Los Angeles from New Orleans with how people are very career conscious in L.A. She said she sees people buckle down and work insane hours and will make all kinds of sacrifices for their careers. Being a MentorMarlene mentors a special group of artists at a school called The Center for Learning Unlimited in Torrance, California. The school has an animation career training program for adults on the autism spectrum. She works with adults 18 and over. There's a lot of diversity, age ranges, and backgrounds in the program. Three-year certificate training program When the students finish that program, they go into Brainstorm Productions, the companion studio. The studio serves as a traditional studio that takes work for hire opportunities. It's a bridge between the academic program and working at a big third-party studio.Young Captain
