You listened to 315 minutes of content across 88 episodes in 2021, if you listened to every episode of this show. Don't force content if it's not coming: sticking to a schedule isn't the most important thing. Just share when you have value to add. This Spotify Wrapped data I mention is totally new, but traditional marketing channels like TV and radio may still be worthwhile for you. That said, you will never have the data or insights on your marketing ROI from anything of the Yellow Pages era. And maybe that's fine, here's why. Google Analytics is like your grandfather in his Buick: they have more data (wisdom) but it doesn't look cool like Spotify Wrapped. The title of this show is credited to my friend Bob Knorpp, host of The Beancast. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The problem with Google isn't revenue or growth. Google is a victim of our own expectations. People are freaking out because Google's growth rate has slowed. That's true, but let's be realistic – their growth rate is currently at 17%, which is still crazy. When you've reach ubiquity, growth WILL slow. That's just math. The same thing has happened to Facebook. And now that Facebook is starting to implement some of the services that Google offers, they will likely take a piece of Google's revenue. But Google's model is changing and not everyone is necessarily on board. At this point, this is an expectation problem on our end, not a company problem with Google. Welcome to episode #418 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. Bob Knorpp may be best known for his stunningly fun podcast on the advertising business known as The Beancast, but he also has a deep passion for the world of innovation (along with that, he is a regular contributor to Ad Age). In the past short while, famed author, educator and thought leader, Clayton Christensen, came under fire after his seminal book, The Innovator's Dilemma, got picked apart by a widely spread article in The New Yorker titled, The Disruption Machine, by Jill Lepore. There has been plenty of discourse (online and otherwise) about this topic. Christensen even took to the pages of BusinessWeek to clarify the comments and add more color to the arguments. Ultimately, what we learn is that disruption and innovation are complex models that often don't sit well in the way that businesses have been built. On this show, Bob and I discuss the merits of both sides of the argument, what it means to marketers and how businesses are able to grow and thrive in a world that is seemingly more disruptive than ever before. Welcome to episode #269 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. If you have never heard an episode of The Beancast podcast with Bob Knorpp, stop listening to this and pop over to check out (at least) one of his episodes. Along with being a writer for Ad Age, Knorpp's Beancast is a staple in the advertising industry news diet. Each week he grabs a handful of very diverse advertising luminaries and digs down deep into the current hot topics (I've had the pleasure of being a guest on a handful of episodes - the non-luminary ones, no doubt). In this episodes we discuss everything from the merits of audio podcasting to the current state of advertising and if true marketing integration is happening or if we're still stuck in a world filled with sucky 30-second spots.
