In a twofer, a BOGOF, a never-before-seen-or-heard, the thrusting Claptrap duo cover off early nights and bedding. Though to be honest there are a lot of tangents along the way, including choccie mouths, a recited like a poem public information film and very poor use of the swear bleeper. Contains childish themes but adult language.
Mezza & Craig are joined by Lucy Jordache to talk about how she came to work for Marillion and the fun and games around the lead up to the Anoraknophobia album. Chat includes the first pre-order campaign, the UK university tour, the BOGOF single campaign, re-signing with EMI, what a communications manager actually does and lots more besides. Later on in the chat, Ian Mosley joins the discussion to share his memories and recollections of this exciting time in the bands history. Listen out for parts 2 & 3 covering the album, tour and Anorak in the UK live album, soon.

This podcast is produced in conjunction with Wipro. The last time we talked to Wipro about retail, we were looking at some of the challenges facing companies as they transitioned their IT stack to the cloud. In this episode of the Tech Means Business podcast we look at cybersecurity in the retail space, and how outsourcing helps companies find compliant, scalable and safe ways to operate. To attackers, every retailer and its assets (brick and mortar or virtual) are just IP addresses. So, what are the specific security issues facing the sector that, more than most, defines "edge computing" (or "many shops" as we might say)? And with OT (operational technology) so significant in what are often long and complex supply chains, retailers have very specific cybersecurity issues that our guests address during the course of our discussion. To learn more about Wipro's work with large retailers in the UK, Ireland and across the world as well as its work in cybersecurity, visit here:https://www.wipro.com/retail/https://www.wipro.com/cybersecurity/ Prabhu Ramaiah is on LinkedIn, here:https://www.linkedin.com/in/prabhu-ramaiah-8328b06/ Hitesh Bansal is here:https://www.linkedin.com/in/bansalhitesh/ Richard Vinnicombe can be found here:https://www.linkedin.com/in/richard-vinnicombe-46b36817/ And Joe Greens are BOGOF here:https://www.linkedin.com/in/josephedwardgreen/

The new generation is different, they need to understand constructive criticismLoving what you do as an embryologist and working in ARTWhere is the passion - is Embryology yours? Where people move to from Embryology.. why People who think of this as a career Vs a jobSalaries - how it used to be attractive and now it doesn't compare well to what else is available for young people. Why aren't salaries increasing? The passion that embryologists have Lack of resources when it comes to hiring - not enough budget How to retain talent - the distinction between clinics who have looked after their embryologists during the pandemic and those who don't Hiring practices You also get to hear the conversation from our last I3 session of 2021, called 'Carry on Inseminating 'which includes a panel of Dr. Bronte Stone & Kimberly Kienast, Dr. Caroline McCaffrey, Nick Campion, Cynthia Hudson, VP Clinical Strategy at TMRW Life Sciences and Shaista Sandruddin. In this weeks episode, we dive into some pretty hot news! In the UK gyms have largely reopened and one our hosts Tom has been back to work in a commercial gym so he has all the details of what to expect and what we can expect going forwards. We also all give our advice for those getting back into the gym after perhaps many months away. Let's be honest most would have been simply walking/running and maybe had access to a few dumbbells etc so If you go back to the gym and try to do the volume you did before....Well, you'll be in for a surprise not only doing it but the next day as well! The second part of the show we tackle some more hot news in the UK's newly announced obesity drive. Bill gives us all the new proposals and initially there's lot of back and forth between Bill and Andy and their thoughts. Tom finally jumps in with a full mag and unleashes socioeconomics again. We also discuss the controversy of the governments eat out the scheme. Going to need that on a t-shirt soon! Here are the proposals that we discuss No junk food adverts before 9 pm Food and drink calories to be displayed on menus (alcohol included) Remove junk food from tills No, buy one get one free offer on junk food We actually spent quite a lot of time on this as we think it's so important. We discussed things such do adverts really work? Cigarette adverts have been off the telly for ages but people still take up smoking, are these calories displayed even going to be accurate and even more importantly stated by Tom, will it trigger individuals eating disorders? Removing junk food from tills, removing the BOGOF, this is simply taking away and not adding. We believe it is crucial that we educate. Add more education in, stop taking things away like as Tom, said some families may rely on the BOGOF deal to feed their families. When we talk about socioeconomics we aren't talking about just the price we are referring to the multiple different factors. Example, saying healthy food is expensive is simply not true. The issue is is that yes most can afford vegetables and the like but the issue arises when it comes to preparing. Some may not know how to turn these foods into something nice that the family will eat. The expectation is another issue. Some may think frozen vegetables are no good and that they have to buy fresh that will only last a few days. Once again this is not the case. We need to educate. There is a lot more at play here and without typing out the entire podcast episode take a listen and see what you think? Any other points please let us know. Remember to head to our website (unless you're already there!) chatshitgetfit.com to find all of our content and please sign up to the newsletter so we can keep in touch and keep you updated on everything new! As the English media treated Boris Johnson's flying visit to Orkney with virtual contempt we ask what way will unionism jump. Will it be up front confrontation as Ruth Davidson puts the boot in or Michael Gove's soft soaping? The PM may also have bitten off more than he chew if he decides to take on the Scottish legal establishment over judicial reviews. The UK government has launched its tackling obesity strategy with a focus on banning adverts, food labelling, and BOGOF deals. But where is the will to introduce a whole health programme and address the link between poverty and obesity. Alexander Dennis is a world leading bus and coach builder with a track record in green innovation, will the Scottish government step in to save it? And will it grab this opportunity to introduce a public bus system. All this plus the battle to be the SNP candidate for Edinburgh Central, yet another comeback for George Galloway, and why my mod tee shirts are back in the wardrobe.

This is an entirely alien concept for me. I like to shop haphazardly, choosing what’s in season, what’s BOGOF, what’s half price due to sell by date. I love delis, farmers’ markets, the old-fashioned butchers and bakers in Tavistock, the wet fish shop getting its catch direct from a Plymouth trawler. The sort of shopping many of you probably enjoy too, especially if it includes a pub stop for a pint and a pasty, perhaps a game of dominoes. Do you miss pub games? (Incidentally, my brother and I have invented a brilliant game to while away lockdown: we call it Best Films Ever Poker. So, I e-mail him: “I’ll see your On the Waterfront and raise you Gone with the Wind…” But I digress. I’m indebted to the Tesco deliverers, the more so because we don’t live near one of the stores and I don’t actually know where these guys come from. Ordering online is, er, interesting. On the whole they do a great job though we get the odd surprise. My request for a Savoy cabbage was met with frozen shredded; this is not a successful product. I wanted a few leeks and, boy, did I get ’em – three monsters that would have won giant leek at any horticultural show. On the other hand I asked for root ginger (fiddly to peel and chop), and instead received a fragrant little jar of their Crushed Ginger, ready to use. Tesco’s Chief Executive must have been up half the night making that; cheers, sir, I won’t forget. Speaking of my brother, he’s their biggest fan. He shops there so much his Tesco points apparently pay most of the cost of his annual French leave in a gite. (Not this year, Little Bro, you’ll have to drive a camper van to a Tesco carpark near the sea.) Last week I put mincemeat on the list thinking I’d make a nice shepherd’s pie or chilli; lo and behold I received a jar of mincemeat as in mince pies. Was I bovvered? Nah. I’ve run out of dried fruit so I’ll use it to stuff baked apples with a liberal slurp of dark spicy ale – as it happens I’ve got McEwan’s Champion, a big, fruity number (7.3% ABV), winner of a national Tesco beer challenge I helped judge many moons ago, hence the name. Every little helps.Beer-baked BramleysOne cooking apple per person; mixed dried fruit (or mincemeat); a few chopped, stoneless dates and walnut halves (if you’ve got any); dark spicy ale; a little soft brown sugar.Put dried fruit (or mincemeat) in a bowl with dates, if used, add enough ale to cover, and marinate overnight; drain retained liquor. Core apples and cut a line round middle of each with a sharp knife. Stir a little brown sugar into fruit mix and use to stuff the apples; place in an ovenproof dish and pour over retained liquor, scattering any leftover filling mix around. Bake in the centre of a hot oven (200C/gas mark 6) for around 45 to 60 minutes, until the apple puffs up to soufflé softness, the caramelising ale creating a toffee apple effect. Pop a walnut half where the apple stalk was, and serve with thick yellow cream. Cheers – and bon appétit!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/pubspintspeople. Staying healthy and cutting down on waste are key issues in the food industry right now, so of course Sue Nelson and Paul Andrews are keen to discuss all on another topical FoodTalk Show. First things first, do you loathe Lucozade, puke over Powerade or does Gatorade grate on you? The content of sugar in those products probably means you answer a resounding yes to those questions. Step forward Troy Linton and his all-natural Cocoshot health supplement powders. He's giving you energy and keeping you healthy without all the nasties. Moving on, 'tis the season for the sales. If you're heading to London this January, you're bound to stop off in the staple of capital department store shopping, Selfridges. Listen to Adrian Boswell, a buyer at the store, explain what Selfridges are expecting to see in the food industry. Last of all, how many times have you been seduced by a gorgeous BOGOF deal? Lots of times, of course. The problem is that most of the time we don't need that second freebie and it goes to waste. Saasha Celestial-One (the name is explained in the podcast) came to the studio to help us join the ‘Food Sharing Revolution' with OLIO. There's an app for that…

Hello and welcome to school talk show from VOE learning English. I'm Hellen…… and I'm Astrid. Hello. In today&`&s programme we will talk about food waste. Yeah, Astrid, you like food don't you?Yes, I do.But how much of it do you actually throw away?Probably too much although I'm trying to get better at that, Hellen.I'm asking you this because many people around the world throw away food that's still good enough to eat –this food waste could feed millions of other people. That's what we're talking about today as well as looking as some related vocabulary.Yes, food waste is a big problem. We stock up on food that we don't really need, and we're often tempted by supermarkets to consume – or to eat – more. Before we talk more about this, let's find out what you know about food waste. So, do you know, according to the United Nations Food and Agricultural organization, what percentage of food is actually wasted?a) 25%b) 33%c) 50%50%, I seem to remember that. I might be wrong. We'll find out if you're right or wrong later on. But now, here's another figure for you: In Europe, people throw away 100 million tonnes of food every year.Wow, such a waste. Most of this food just ends up rotting in landfill sites and that adds to another problem –it creates greenhouse gases. It does. But the problem isn't just us throwing away leftovers in the fridge or cupboard, as we can hear now from BBC reporter Caroline Hepker. What are the other reasons that lead to food being wasted? Typically, supermarkets demand that onions are about two to two-and-a-quarter inches in diameter. This one will get pretty close to it but this one is too small, although it is perfectlyedible. The question is, what happens to it then? Food waste is a huge issue in America –40% of all food goes uneaten and it's a problem that starts long before you get to the dining-room table.Another staggering figure there Hellen – 40% of all food in America goes uneaten –it doesn't get eaten. And she explained that supermarkets are partly to blame.Yes. We all love the convenience, the price and the choice of food that supermarkets offer –but a lot of food is binned – thrown out – long before it reaches the shelves. The reporter gave the example of onions: if they're the wrong size, they can't be sold; they're thrown away even though they're good enough to eat – or edible. There are many other types of fruit and vegetables that are discarded –or thrown away – because of their shape and size. And that's our fault really, because we often think food that looks good is better quality.Another issue is the' sell by' and' use by' dates printed on food packaging. They confuse customers. Anything older than the' sell by' date makes us think it' s old and the food has gone off,but in fact this is just the date supermarket wants to sell it by.And there is another reason why some of us are encouraged to buy too much food. Have a listen to working mum, Tara Sherbrooke, about her shopping habits and see if you can hear what the problem is.Also, see if you can hear what she does to try and minimise food waste.I try very hard to meal-plan because as a working mum and having a busy family, I really try to make sure that there's enough food at the beginning of the week. I find it very difficult to walk pass two-for-one offers especially on things that we use. I even find it hard to walk past them when they're items I've never purchased before – I stop and look!So she is a busy working mum and she tries to meal-plan –she plans the family's meals for the week and works out what to buy.But she still gets tempted by the two-for-one offers. That's when you buy one item and you get another one of the same item for free.Buy-one-get-one-free – or as it's sometimes known, BOGOF! You can get a bargain but it also means we sometimes buy too much of something. If it's fresh produce, it might go off before you get to use it all.But in other parts of the world people struggle to buy even the most basic food. A report by the UN's Food and Agricultural organization found that there is enough food for everyone, just a lot of inefficiency. So what can be done?Well things are being done.Apps and websites that distribute excess food are becoming more popular. And food banks are being set up too. These are charitable organizations people donate food to.It's then distributed to those who have difficulty buying their own food. And one trial project in New York requires the city's restaurants to stop sending food waste to landfills by 2015. But at the moment, globally, there's still a lot of food being thrown away. And Astrid, I asked you how much? Is it 25%, 33% or 50% of all food produced?I said half – 50%.according to the United Nations Food and Agricultural organization, the answer is 33%. Still not good. It also found the amount of land needed to grow all the food wasted in the world each year would be the size of Mexico. This week we ask why people insist on sipping tea when it's too hot, why hotels have so many types of pillow, whether BOGOF offers are needless and question why we have so many geese in the country. Plus your questions about dashboard ornaments, pre-grated cheese and garden centres.
