Send Bite Me a Text!Vanessa Lavorato revolutionizes cannabis cooking with groundbreaking research that challenges everything we thought we knew about making edibles. The pioneering host of Vice's Bong Appetit and author of How to Eat Weed and Have a Good Time reveals that 50% of cannabinoid extraction occurs within the first 30 seconds of infusion—not the hours many recipes suggest.Forget what you've heard about indica versus sativa edibles. Vanessa explains why these distinctions are largely meaningless when cannabis is consumed rather than smoked. Instead, she focuses on understanding cannabinoid profiles and practical dosing strategies that acknowledge reality: nobody eats just one cookie. Her approach to "ethical dosing" ensures everyone can have an enjoyable experience without unexpected intensity. We dive deep into practical techniques that will transform your edibles game: using parchment paper pouches during decarboxylation to prevent THC degradation, working with concentrates for precise dosing, and why peanut butter might make your edibles hit harder. Vanessa shares the frustrations of being a woman in the cannabis industry, where despite conducting rigorous testing and research, she still faces skepticism from those who've never run a single experiment themselves.Whether you're new to cannabis cooking or an experienced edibles maker looking to refine your craft, this episode delivers practical wisdom that will save you time and improve your results. Discover why microdosing represents the future of edibles, allowing more controlled experiences that fit seamlessly into active lifestyles. Ready to revolutionize your approach to cannabis cuisine? Listen now and transform how you infuse.Want to get your own copy of Vanessa's book? Grab it here. Support the show Visit the website for full show notes, free dosing calculator, recipes and more.

International cannabis consultant and dynamic public speaker The Dank Duchess shares her personal journey of how cannabis and psilocybin have helped her heal mentally and emotionally, providing insights and lessons in mastery of the ego. Collaborating with, rather than ‘using' these plants is key to unlocking the wisdom that can help free us from our misperceptions and limiting realities, in order to engender more love, joy and creativity. She discusses her recent experience at The Emerald Cup, the most important community cannabis event of the year, the pitfalls of the cannabis industry, and tells us how she sees the future unfolding for psychedelic and psychoactive plants against a growing need for sovereignty in self-directed healing. As a grower and someone who has worked intimately with cannabis and psilocybin , Duchess reveals how these plants have taught her to understand and trust in natural systems, and that we are just as much in service to the plants as they are to us. However, it is always up to us do our personal work, otherwise we risk falling into addiction, disempowerment and another kind of dis-ease. About Duchess: The Dank Duchess is an international Hashish Consultant, Cannabis Cultivator, and public speaker using all available media to achieve her mission to help spread cannabis and psychedelic wellness awareness globally. With 18 years of cultivation experience to her credit, and trained by the late Hash Master Frenchy Cannoli, she has dedicated the last 7 years to educating hundreds of thousands of people via print, film, and social media about high quality cannabis and Hashish. Formerly the Managing Editor of Skunk Magazine, dozens of her hash stories and hash tutorials have appeared in Weed World UK, Weed World Italia, Cannabis Now, Skunk Magazine and in Ed Rosenthal's books. Duchess has also made several media appearances including Seasons 1 and 3 of VICELAND's Bong Appetit. As a Hashish consultant she travels to small farms and large cultivation facilities to teach hash making and increase efficiency. She is a respected public speaker; featured at conferences including Spirit Plant Medicine Conference, Boston Freedom Rally, Outside Lands, and the Emerald Cup. Known both for her discriminating palate and Hashish knowledge, Duchess has served as an esteemed judge for cannabis and Hashish competitions around the world. Cannabis is essential to her existence and with her dedication to an All Weed Everything lifestyle she has found a way to integrate it completely into her life; hence her motto: “Cannabis flower fuels my power and my niche is Hashish.” Learn more at http://thedankduchess.com/ Follow on Instagram @thedankduchess Watch on Youtube TheDankDuchess

Description: Cooking with cannabis is nothing new. All throughout history, there has been evidence of cultures around the world infusing the good green herb into their favorite recipes. Today, this same phenomenon occurs, but it definitely looks a little different. Netflix shows like “Cooking On High” and “Bong Appetit” have immersed the everyman into cannabis cooking culture. The only question is, is that a good or bad thing? Nadeem and Derek break down the history behind cooking with cannabis, how the modern cannabis market has changed cooking with cannabis, and what types of food you can incorporate cannabis into. Just a hint... It’s everything. Throughout the episode, the Know Your Dose hosts lay down some awesome tips on homemaking edibles, how to use Baked Bros products in your cooking, making sure your edibles are potent and much more. They also give tips and tricks on how to make consistent edibles and outline what it takes to do so. In the Q&A session, the first question asked has to do with the hosts’ favorite foods to eat after getting high, and the second question asks: if you could have a magic wand and implement one change in the world, what would it be? Get ready to learn more about cannabis, cooking, and culture than you think from Nadeem and Derek! Show Notes (People / Products / Mentions): Alice B. In 1973, twenty-year-old Valerie Leveroni Corral was riding in a Volkswagen bug through the Nevada desert when a small airplane swooped down low enough that its torque caused the vehicle to careen end-over-end. Valerie was flung against the roof and doors, causing brain damage, epilepsy and debilitating migraines. She was then prescribed a staggering range of pharmaceuticals to deal with the aftermath, but they proved largely ineffective in stopping her convulsions and grand mal seizures. And the side-effects left her a zombie. Then her husband Mike read about a government-funded research paper that showed unique compounds found in cannabis can reverse the growth of cancerous tumors and help control laboratory-induced seizures. What happened next is a story of resistance and resilience that involved an iconic weed garden, an armed police raid, a barricade of cannabis patients in wheelchairs and walkers, and a standoff on the steps of City Hall pitting the Wo/men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana (WAMM) against the DEA. Also in this episode, Abdullah fondly remembers hosting episodes of the VICE culinary cannabis show Bong Appetit featuring the legendary Nonna Marijuana—a.k.a. Valerie’s mother!
