The conclusion to the first season of Master Chief's TV adventures is finally here, but did it stick the landing or continue to frustrate us? Join us for another special episode of The GI Show, where we're reviewing both episode nine of Halo and season one as a whole. The regular team is back to wrap up the season, but we couldn't do a Halo review without a familiar friend. Alex Stadnik, Brian Shea, and Andrew Reiner are joined by Kate Sánchez, founder of But Why Tho? to break down the highs and lows of this episode and the season in this spoiler-filled discussion. In episode nine, we find John and company reeling from the fallout of Makee's decision, setting the stage for the final battle. The good news is that "Transcendence" has plenty of satisfying action that genuinely feels like what we love about Halo as a video game. The bad news is those questionable story choices continue to bring down our enjoyment of the series. When looking at the first season as a whole, it's clear that plenty of things could have been better. In that spirit, we finish out this episode of The GI Show and our Halo review with our thoughts on the state of Master Chief, Halsey, and Co.'s tale and whether or not we're excited about a second season. We also grade the show on the GI review scale for those dying to know what we thought numerically. Thank you so much for joining us on this journey. While the show had its ups and downs, it was so fun to get to chat with the community on a weekly basis. We hope you enjoyed these videos, and we're so excited to continue our review series in the not too distant future. What do you think about Halo? Be sure to let us know in the comments below. We'd also love your feedback on the extra GI Show episodes. Do you like them? Do you want to see us focus on games or the Marvel shows in the future? Halo Series Episode 8 Review - Discussing THAT Master Chief Scene

Stop me if you've heard this before, but the Halo series has continuously been a roller coaster ride of good and bad, and few episodes encapsulate that as well as this week's tale in "Allegiance." Join us on The Game Informer Show as we discuss the eighth episode of the series, break down the most significant moments, and discuss the scene everyone is talking about. Your regular hosts of Alex Stadnik, Andrew Reiner, and Brian Shea are back again and definitely have thoughts on the return of Master Chief, Makee, and Dr. Halsey. After a week away on Madrigal with Kwan and Soren, the focus shifts back to Reach and what the UNSC is doing about finding The Covenant and Halo. While the militaristic arm of humanity panics over other planets getting glassed by their alien foes, John and Makee are spending time getting to know each other after their shared vision of the show's namesake. While the universe's greatest Spartan and the Covenant spy fraternize in the park (and other places), Dr. Halsey continues to meddle in order to advance humanity in her image, threatening the people she's trying to save in the process. Will the good doctor's interference and the union between the main characters result in unity between the two warring factions or make the upcoming battle that much harder? You'll just have to listen to this week's show to find out. What do you think about Halo thus far? Be sure to let us know in the comments below. We'd also love your feedback on the extra GI Show episodes. Do you like them? Do you want to see us focus on games or the Marvel shows in the future? Halo Series Episode 7 Review - Worst Episode Yet?

After two weeks of great episodes, the Halo series takes a huge step back during "Inheritance," the seventh episode of the Paramount Plus episodic adventure. Join us on The Game Informer Show as we break down and spoil the highs and lows of Kwan and Soren's journey and quickly touch on our thoughts on last week's episode, as well. The regular crew of Alex Stadnik, Brian Shea, and Andrew Reiner are all back and, unfortunately, have bad news to deliver to fans of Master Chief, Cortana, and Dr. Halsey. "Inheritance" features none of those characters or the exciting storyline on Reach with the discovery of the actual Halo ring. Instead, we head back to Madrigal and the ongoing adventures of the reformed Spartan and his rebellious counterpart. After questionably getting out of her car and walking straight into a sand storm, Kwan meets the mysterious desert mystics that lead her to a revelation about what her family's legacy entails. While Kwan is making her discoveries, Soren is back home, gloating about past glories while kind of answering how he got off the planet in the first place. Eventually, our heroes reunite and face off against Vinsher in a fight for control of the planet. Unfortunately, Halo's pacing problem rears its ugly head yet again, and most of the action and plot development feel like filler instead of meaningful moments. The series hasn't been able to justify the inclusion of these characters, and even when the story finally reconnects with the search for the Halo ring, it feels as though they could have covered everything that happened in 50 minutes in a show intro instead. It will be interesting to see how the series rebounds from this now with only two episodes left in the season. Here's hoping we don't have to go back to Halo Tatooine for a long, long time. What do you think about Halo thus far? Be sure to let us know in the comments below. We'd also love your feedback on the extra GI Show episodes. Do you like them? Halo Series Episode 4 Review – One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

Last week on the Halo series, we saw Master Chief and Kwan headed off to their respective homes to seek some sort of resolution to both their problems. But were our heroes victorious in their respective paths? Join us on The Game Informer Show as we review "Homecoming," the fourth episode in the Paramount Plus show, and let you know if it continues to build on the success of the previous episode. Your regular hosts are back for another round of hilarity and analysis that you've come to expect from GI's review of the Halo series. Alex Stadnik, Andrew Reiner, and Brian Shea are breaking down this week's episode and have a lot to say about another step back for a series that includes some of the most iconic characters in video games. We start the episode with the promise of answers to what's going on with John's memories and the artifact that somehow connects to what we can presume is one of the Halo rings. Those answers come at the end of the episode, but "Homecoming" spends far too much time drawing out those scenes, continuing the series' trend of poor pacing. On top of that, we finally find ourselves on Madrigal with Soren and Kwan, which continues to feel like a distraction from the main story we care about. There are some positive aspects of episode four, though. Kai has followed John's lead and gone rogue by removing her emotions-blocking pellet and starts to see the world a bit differently. Her interactions with Miranda Keyes and the rest of the Spartans provide some levity and clarity and prove there is hope for the series yet. What do you think about Halo thus far? Be sure to let us know in the comments below. We'd also love your feedback on the extra GI Show episodes. Do you like them? Do you want to see us focus on games or the Marvel shows in the future? The Halo series has been a wild ride through the first two episodes. We've seen a maskless Chief, beautiful Reach and High Charity recreations, and everything in between. But after last week's rough episode, the show could only get better, right? Join us on a special episode of The Game Informer Show as we review "Emergence," the third entry of the new Paramount Plus show starring Master Chief and company. Alex Stadnik, Andrew Reiner, and Brian Shea are all back and ready to break down all the highs and lows of this week's episode. As a reminder, these reviews contain a complete discussion of what we saw, so we spoil everything from this episode and the previous ones. If you're not caught up, be sure to bookmark this page and come back when you've watched the show! Let's start with the good. "Emergence" finally gives us the show's version of Cortana, and we're happy to report she doesn't disappoint in her first live-action appearance. Jen Taylor returns to voice her iconic character, which may be the best decision the showrunners have made at this point. Jen's vocals are synonymous with the Halo feel and ground the series more in what we know, making us feel more at home in this version of the legendary game series. Building off that, Chief and Cortana's banter is already a highlight, producing the line of the show thus far when Dr. Halsey wants to introduce the two characters. It wasn't all perfect, though. The writing still struggles to recreate the feeling of Halo and produced a plethora of eye-rolling moments in this week's episode. The humanization of Chief continues but feels like a Disney Channel Original Movie more than something you'd find on prestige television. Also, the side characters have become even more of a frustration. The show works better when it focuses on what's presumably to come with the Halo rings in the (hopefully) near future, but instead, Soren and Kwan feel like portals to the past in a storyline we're not gelling with. To be clear, this episode is a sizable step up from last week's, but it still feels like there's a long way to go to reach the heights of the games that started it all. What do you think about Halo thus far? Be sure to let us know in the comments below. We'd also love your feedback on the extra GI Show episodes. Do you like them? There's only room to go up, right? The Halo series has been a rollercoaster thus far, and episode two proved to be one of the lower parts of the ride. Join us on this bonus episode of The Game Informer Show as we break down what we liked and hated from this week's adventure. Alex Stadnik, Andrew Reiner, and Brian Shea are back for another week of analysis and are SPOILING the entirety of Chief's adventure. If you're interested in our thoughts on the first show, be sure to check out our review discussion of last week's episode, Contact. Chief and new friend Kwan have escaped the clutches of the UNSC and are on a quest to figure out what the mysterious artifact is that John-117 stole from The Covenant on Madrigal. Back on Reach, the military arm of the human population finally agrees to let Dr. Halsey go forward with her plans for Cortana in light of the Chief's shocking act of disobedience. We're also introduced to Soren-066 and learn of his history with everyone's favorite giant green Spartan. Does any of this week's episode land? Disappointingly (and resoundingly) no, but you'll have to listen to get our full thoughts. As stated last week, the Halo review marks a new series for The GI Show, one we're hoping you'll give your feedback on. This is an experiment for us, and we'd love to know what you like and what you think could go better. We'd also love to see what you want us to cover after the Halo series, whether that would be more spoilercasts, gaming book clubs, or whatever else you can think of. Thanks for watching, and we hope you enjoy the show!
