"The Boys" is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Amazon Prime Video. Based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals, referred to as "Supes," who often abuse their powers for personal gain and work for a powerful company, Vought International, that ensures the general public views them as heroes. The story focuses on Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), a young electronics clerk, and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), a former SAS and CIA operative, who work together with the rest of the Boys against "The Seven," Vought's premier superhero team, led by the power-hungry Homelander (Antony Starr). The series also stars Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Elisabeth Shue, Colby Minifie, Aya Cash, Claudia Doumit, Jensen Ackles, Cameron Crovetti, Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Daveed Diggs. The fifth and final season premiered on April 8th and drew a mixed response from fans and critics, though the show has been an undisputed success, with a prequel series, "Vought Rising," set to premiere in 2027. Overall, the show was praised for its performances, particularly Antony Starr, visuals, satirical themes, and action sequences. The series has won four awards from 12 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2021, and has won seven Critics' Choice Super Awards and six Astra TV Awards. Showrunner, Executive Producer, and Writer Eric Kripke was kind enough to spend some time talking with us about his work and experience making the hit series, which you can listen to below. Please be sure to check out the show, which is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video and is up for your consideration for this year's Emmy Awards in all eligible categories. Thank you, and enjoy! [Original air date: July 12, 2022] Chace Crawford stops by and opens up about frosted tips, heartbreak, and being "okay" at football (this is disputed; we've heard he's quite good). He and Penn reminisce on their Gossip Girl days, while Sophie and Nava try to act casual.
Italian style and craftsmanship are synonymous with Rodeo Drive, evidenced in Canali, the luxury menswear brand that just reopened its flagship lifestyle store on the high fashion Beverly Hills thoroughfare, with a party attended by some of LA's leading men, including Chace Crawford, Paul Downs, James Marsden, and Regé-Jean Page. The company is helmed by Stefano Canali, the third generation principal of the brand that was established more than 90 years ago. His task is to maintain the family company's legendary sartorial mastery and stay nimble for the future, he told Lyn Winter, host of Rodeo Drive–The Podcast, when they met at the company headquarters designed as a welcoming home and garden in central Milan.“Consistency is a word these days, so you must make sure that whatever represents a brand is fully consistent with the brand itself,” Canali said.Consistency extends into the design and execution of the new boutique on Rodeo Drive, with its warm hues, green-veined cipollino marble and wood paneling carved to evoke stitching. Such details are “very much linked to the way we manufacture suits and garments,” says Canali, adding that one of the main attractions just might be its VIP lounge complete with Canali mixologists. The clear branding also plays out in an exciting new partnership for the company – with the famed Inter Milan soccer team. While Canali's designers created a formal collection for the management, they created a more relaxed collection for the players that emphasizes functional fabrics and refined craftsmanship.Decked from head to toe in this sporty spin on haute couture, the cheerful young players have been “very effective in delivering this new image of Canali, and the evolution that Canali is going through,” says the company's President and CEO.Finally, Canali refuses to offshore production. Keeping its fabrication at home, says Stefano Canali, reinforces the power of his country's “Made in Italy” brand. It also supports the suitmaker's sustainability goals. Canali quantifies its environmental footprint, from the sourcing of raw materials to the final disposal of the product. In keeping production very high quality and close to home, the firm is able to support local craftspeople, minimize their carbon footprint, and stay profitable, says Stefano Canali. “By deciding to stay in Italy, no matter what, allowed us to be 100% sustainable towards the planet and towards the people.” Finally, asked Winter, “When you think about the Canali man today, whether he's in Milan or Beverly Hills or anywhere else in the world, how would you describe him?”The answer lies in timelessness and inner confidence. The Canali man, says the man charged with dressing him, is “a successful person that values understatement and is very much focused on the substance of things out there. So somebody who's very much interested in buying something that will last over time, that… allows our final consumer to express himself in a very subtle, still important, effective way.”This episode of Rodeo Drive: The Podcast is presented by the Rodeo Drive Committee. JEFFREY DEAN MORGAN REVEALED TO BUTCHER! The Boys Season 4 Full Reaction Watch Along: https://www.patreon.com/thereelrejects The Boys Season 4 Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, Spoiler Review, Easter Eggs, & Ending Explained! In "Dirty Business" Vice President-elect Victoria Neumann (Claudia Doumit) drops a bombshell, claiming democracy is a sham at a secretive right-wing fundraiser. She declares that corporations like Apple, Exxon, and Berkshire Hathaway run America, urging the wealthy attendees to support her coup against POTUS-elect Robert Singer (Jim Beaver). With Homelander (Antony Starr) backing her plan, a dangerous plot unfolds to replace Singer and his "woke mob." Homelander's villainy is on full display as he manipulates the elite, framing their coup as a necessity to prevent a supposed liberal takeover. Amidst this chaos, the episode ventures into NSFW territory, reminiscent of past shockers like "Herogasm." Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) goes undercover as Web Weaver (Spider-Man parody) at the fundraiser but quickly regrets it as he's pulled into disturbing games by Tek Knight (Derek Wilson) and Ashley (Colby Minifie). Despite the absurdity, Hughie's emotional turmoil is palpable, culminating in a heartfelt breakdown to Annie (Erin Moriarty). The action intensifies when Mother's Milk has a heart attack and A-Train must save him. Annie and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) infiltrate Tek Knight's lair, uncovering Homelander's sinister plans for internment camps. They torture Tek by threatening his wealth, learning of the impending horrors. Meanwhile, Sage (Valorie Curry) faces a life-threatening crisis after being shot by MM (Laz Alonso), raising questions about her future as a Supe. The episode also delves into Butcher's (Karl Urban) psyche, revealing his hallucinations of Joe Kessler (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as a manifestation of guilt. With Election Year gearing up between Donald Trump & Joe Biden, this season seems to be honoring the America we know. The Boys cast & characters consist of Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell, Antony Starr as Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Starlight/Annie January, Dominique McElligott as Queen Maeve, Jessie T. Jimmy addresses the latest news, like an author saying Trump has severe memory issues after interviewing him six times, before speaking with Kevin Costner and Chace Crawford.
Jordan returned to Pizzeria Mozza for the first time in forever to figure out why it's not as popular as it once was, and it was all hot hunks of olive oil dripping bread, Max having thoughts on Nancy's chopped, those meatballs, a truffle cheese vs. truffle oil discussion, the welcomed proteins, Jordan attempts to learn Italian, the only miss of the night, and no notes for Nance on the new dessert. Plus, Chace Crawford could have really done Max a solid, the VH1 days and possible future, Father's Day plans, and a first look inside The Benjamin, where the fellas talk the pains of opening a restaurant by highlighting a killer dish coming to you soon.
Join Alex in the studio for a fun and nostalgic interview with Chace Crawford. Chace talks about his childhood, going through an awkward phase (debatable), and what it was really like to work at Abercrombie in the early 2000's. He then discusses all things Gossip Girl. Chace reflects on the audition process, his first time meeting Leighton Meester, and whether he ever hooked up with a co-star. He spills the tea on his time living in NYC with Ed Westwick, what their roommate dynamic was really like, and details the insane house parties they would throw together - he even reveals which iconic stars used to be on the guest list! Finally, Chace opens up about the current state of his love life, logging onto Raya for the first time, what he's looking for in a partner and what his absolute deal breakers are. Enjoy! What happens when superheroes turn evil? That's the question ‘The Boys,' based on a series of graphic novels, sets out to answer. “They've done such a good job of having the essence of these really insane comics, while also making them palatable for TV,” Chace Crawford, who plays superhero The Deep, says about the Prime Video original series, now in its fourth season. “The idea that absolute power corrupts absolutely, and that superheroes who have this power and kind of are gods, what would they really do out in the world?” Crawford, who rose to fame on the CW series ‘Gossip Girl,' says he jumped at the chance to play The Deep because it makes fun of the pretty-boy image he's been identified with. “These types of roles don't come around a lot. Also, I think you have to have a sense of humor about yourself. To be like, Yeah, let's make fun of that guy.” Ultimately Crawford credits show creator, Eric Kripke, for keeping the show grounded despite its “batsh** crazy” tone. “We want to talk about real issues through the lens of a superhero show, which is kind of amazing.” Visit Newsweek.com to learn more about the podcasts we offer and to catch up on the latest news.
