The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 2: 4:05pm- Bill D'Agostino—Senior Research Analyst at Media Research Center—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to breakdown some of the best (and worst) clips from corporate media: Axios's Alex Thompson says the media needs to investigate Donald Trump's health + former FBI Director James Comey claims the Republican Party is “white supremacist adjacent.” 4:30pm- Rich was on Fox News earlier today (did he happen to mention that?) and debuted his new Tom Ford tie which he got on a (heavy) discount—but should he have purchased a “dogs playing poker” tie instead? PLUS, who was the best dressed president? Evidently it was Chester Arthur—who was so well-dressed that it annoyed Americans. He owned 80 pairs of trousers! 4:50pm- While speaking with reporters in Morristown, NJ, President Donald Trump said: “I'm not happy with what Putin is doing…he's sending rockets into cities and killing people. And I don't like it at all!”
The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (05/27/2025): 3:05pm- In a series of articles published over the weekend, The New York Times examined the Democrat Party's continued struggles appealing to the American electorate. Shane Goldmacher writes that Democrats “are still searching for the path forward”—noting that the party spent $20 million studying their “erosion” of support with “young men” specifically. In another article, Goldmacher—alongside June Kim and Christine Zhang—evaluate “how Donald Trump has remade America's political landscape.” They document that 435 counties across the country became more “Democratic” from 2012 and 2024—however, 2,678 counties became more “Republican.” Further complicating matters is the 2030 census which is expected to cause comfortably blue states to lose electoral votes as citizens move to red states. You can read the articles here: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/25/us/politics/democratic-party-voters.html. And here: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/05/25/us/politics/trump-politics-democrats.html. 3:40pm- During a recent segment of Pod Save America, former Obama Advisor Dan Pfeiffer stated that Democrats are in “a huge bit of trouble” if they can't win Latino voters moving forward—and if Latinos continue to migrate towards the Republican Party (as is currently the trend), there is “no path” to victory in future presidential elections. 4:05pm- Bill D'Agostino—Senior Research Analyst at Media Research Center—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to breakdown some of the best (and worst) clips from corporate media: Axios's Alex Thompson says the media needs to investigate Donald Trump's health + former FBI Director James Comey claims the Republican Party is “white supremacist adjacent.” 4:30pm- Rich was on Fox News earlier today (did he happen to mention that?) and debuted his new Tom Ford tie which he got on a (heavy) discount—but should he have purchased a “dogs playing poker” tie instead? And I don't like it at all!” 5:05pm- Dr. Victoria Coates— Former Deputy National Security Advisor & the Vice President of the Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss President Donald Trump declaring he's “not happy” with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Dr. Coates is author of the book, “The Battle for the Jewish State: How Israel—and America—Can Win.” You can find it here: https://a.co/d/iTMA4Vb. 5:40pm- While speaking with the press in Morristown, New Jersey, President Donald Trump continued to insist that Harvard University must make changes in order to receive federal funding moving forward. The Trump Administration has called on the Ivy League university to prioritize the education of American students, eliminate anti-Semitism on campus, and hire faculty representing a diverse ideology. According to a 2023 Harvard Crimson poll, only 2.5% of Harvard's faculty openly identified as “conservative—with 77% labeling themselves as “liberal” or “very liberal.” 5:50pm- Clips of the Day: Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser goes to the pool, Emmanuel Macron's wife hits him in the face, and humanoid robot kick boxing is launched in China! 6:05pm- On Tuesday, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr.—alongside FDA Commissioner Marty Makary and NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya—announced the CDC will no longer recommend Covid-19 vaccination for health children and pregnant women, removing the vaccines from the immunization schedule. 6:15pm- Deputy Director of the FBI Dan Bongino announced that the agency will continue several unresolved investigations, including who brought cocaine into ...
Few presidents entered office more distrusted than America's 21st chief executive, Chester A. Arthur. But one American, Julia Sand, believed that he could rise to the occasion. What ensued was one of the most surprising and unlikely episodes in presidential history -- one that is the basis of a new documentary from the Competitive Enterprise Institute, titled Dear Mr. President: The Letters of Julia Sand. In this episode, I interview the producer of the documentary, Destry Edwards. Former president Chester A. Arthur is probably best remembered for his mutton chops and as a trivia question. But he did play a surprising role as a reformer when the nation was in the grips of political corruption. And the story of how he found the courage to do so holds some lessons for how we might interact with political power today in hopes of a better tomorrow. Joining Saving Elephants host Josh Lewis is Destry Edwards to discuss his new documentary Dear Mr. President: The Letters of Julia Sand, and how a single citizen can have an outsized effect on our political system. About Destry Edwards Destry Edwards is the Media Production and Studio Manager at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. With a passion for both film and politics, Destry seeks to use storytelling as a way to bridge the gap between people and policy. He is a native of the great state of South Carolina. Before coming on with CEI, Destry's background includes time at FreedomWorks and Blaze Media. Destry holds a Bachelor of Science in Cinema Production from Bob Jones University. About the Documentary In 1881, following President James Garfield's assassination, the country was in turmoil. Many suspected Vice President Chester Arthur, a long-time beneficiary of the spoils system, to be a party to the plot and dreaded his ascension to the presidency. In the immediate aftermath—and before the height of the women's suffrage movement—New Yorker Julia Sand wrote to the soon-to-be President. Between August 1881 and September 1883, Sand penned 23 letters to President Arthur imploring him to abandon his corrupt machinations, become the leader the country deserved, and champion civil service reform. The Competitive Enterprise Institute proudly presents the documentary Dear Mr. President: The Letters of Julia Sand to discover the outsized effect a single citizen can have on our political system. Paper Son: Chinese American Citizen. Chinese immigration to America was unique for various reasons. All of this is the subject of my new series. I begin with the historical account of early American naturalization and immigration events, politics, and jurisprudence. From the early years I work through and discuss first the Gold Rush and then the construction of the intercontinental railroad to the onslaught of Chinese immigration into the United States. Eventually leading to violence, exclusion, and deportation of Chinese persons. All this finally led to the United States Government's acknowledgement and apology. Including a recognition of Chinese American contributions. The discussion about naturalization and immigration inevitably leads to the questions of (1) who should be an American; and (2) what is an American?Support the show
Bonus episode! Even the seemingly powerless have the power to change history. When the infamously corrupt Chester Arthur became president after the assassination of his predecessor, most Americans feared Democracy was about to go on the auction block. But, in an era when women couldn't even vote, one woman, Julia Sand, put pen to paper and changed history. Her letters imploring Arthur to abandon his corrupt political allies and listen to his long-abandoned better nature moved something in Arthur and Democracy itself may well have been saved. This is a recording of my 2022 Intelligent Speech Conference presentation. In the past 100 years, over 80% of the first term midterms went badly for Presidents, and their party lost seats. But in a few cases they did not. And a few times when they did, the result was very little real change or even a kind of win. A look at first term midterms during the Presidencies of Chester Arthur, Harding, FDR, GW Bush, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. A combo of new and previously recorded MHCBUYP episodes reveals that while many first term midterms have devastated the President's plans, Presidents don't always do badly, there are 'stave' elections where Presidents have lost so little it's almost a win. And sometimes, a defeat has positive effects. Music by Josh Woodward and Lee Rosevere in this episode. Find them on the Free Music Archive website Learn more about your ad choices. If you were to look at any list put together by anyone of the greatest American Presidents, would you expect to see Chester Arthur on it? Probably not, but you should. Arthur became the fourth VP to take over after a president died in office, and the second after a president was assassinated. Unlike his predecessors, though, Arthur recognized the importance of maintaining the former administration's policy agenda, and respected the wishes of the American people who elected James Garfield partially for his ambition to accomplish civil service reform. Though Arthur was hardly a saint, he respected the presidency enough to not let partisanship and ideology influence his decision making, a rare achievement in any administration, especially considering he had little incentive to do so. Disappointing his allies who got him as far as the vice-presidency while also angering Garfield loyalists pushing for anti-monopoly legislation to lower tariffs, Arthur is a model for any president who wishes to achieve an apolitical reputation throughout their presidency. Chester A. Arthur, the son of a poor Baptist preacher, rose to become a well-connected New York attorney. He honed his masterful administrative skills as New York's Quartermaster General during the Civil War, then applied those skills to become an unparalleled party organizer. In an era of rampant political corruption, Arthur was the quintessential machine politician. He held the federal government's most lucrative patronage post until President Hayes fired him, yet his party connections landed him a cushy spot as James A. Garfield's vice presidential running mate in 1880. But when an assassin's bullet cuts Garfield down, can Arthur rise above his unscrupulous past and become a respectable president? Listen and learn about one of the great presidential redemption stories!
Price controls are being suggested by some commentators as a way to fight inflation. But, as Lawrence W. Reed, President Emeritus of the Foundation for Economic Education explains, price controls would be a really bad idea. Larry also chats with show host Gene Tunny about whether Jesus was a socialist, why banks and the state should be kept separate, and why President Biden would benefit from lessons on infrastructure from the 21st President Chester A. Arthur. About this episode's guest - Lawrence W. ReedLawrence W. Chester A. Arthur is a 19th-century American politics version of Breaking Bad mashed with Darth Vader's redemption story.Ok. There's no meth or space sorcery. But there is a seemingly noble man who jettisons his values when they get in the way of making a buck. (Ok, a LOT of bucks). And then, after a lifetime of proving himself a good-for-nothing scoundrel, he turns into a redemption story when thrust into the presidency with the future of the nation on the line.Join me as I interview Scott Greenberger, executive editor of Stateline, the daily news service of the Pew Charitable Trusts, and author of The Unexpected President: The Life and Times of Chester A. Arthur, on why Arthur fell from grace, and the factors that inspired his redemption at a time when the entire country had given up on him.Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/AbridgedPresidentialHistories)
Chester A. Arthur is the most corrupt politician to ever become president. For years, he made a fortune making sure enough money disappeared from the New York City customs house to keep his patron in power. When a backroom deal made him vice president and an assassin's bullet ended James Garfield's presidency and began Arthur's, the nation despaired. But then he got an unexpected letter. One woman - a woman he'd never met - believed he was capable of change. Could Arthur complete the most unexpected transformation in presidential history? Or was American democracy about to be sold to the highest bidder?Follow along as Arthur goes from inspiring Civil Rights lawyer to not-so-inspiring corrupt political crony, to Vice President, to the White House and ponder the age old question - can people change?Bibliography1. Chester Arthur was not supposed to become president. But following the death of President James Garfield in 1881, the Republican Stalwart Arthur suddenly found himself in the highest office in the land. But despite being a product of the spoils system himself, Arthur would go his own direction and support reform efforts to bring to a close the system of corruption that helped define the Gilded Age of American politics.

Chester Arthur was the dirty politician who shocked the nation with an honest presidency. As VP, he was considered harmless with an inconsequential role, but when Garfield was shot, he suddenly found himself in the top job. The country was full of doubt and fear over what this man with the terrible reputation might do. But the weight of Presidential responsibility actually turned him around, fixing much of the corruption that he once took advantage of.The all-American redemption story of The Gentleman Boss - Chester Arthur, on this episode of American POTUS

My Fellow Americans: The Inaugural Addresses of the U.S. Presidents
Chester Arthur delivered his address upon assuming the office of the president on September 22nd, 1881. Read by Yuvraj Singh. For the 2nd time in the nations history, a sitting president was assassinated. Chester Arthur rose through politics as a part of Roscoe Conkling's political machine in New York. But as it turned out, Arthur was to play his presidency safely. As president, he avoided the corruption the period was rife with and, though unpopular immediately after his presidency, has seen his reputation improve. With Election Day and the question of who will be the next president upon us, on this week’s show we will explore the history of Presidential Elections and how they were impacted by events in New York City. My guest is Kevin Draper, Director of New York Historical Tours. Tune in for this fascinating conversation at TalkRadio.nyc Show Notes Segment 1 Jeff introduces his first guest, Kevin Draper, director of New York Historical Tours. Jeff asks Kevin where he grew up and how he got into the tour guide business. Kevin recalls being interested in New York history at a very young age, which led him to study history in college and create his tour guide business. Jeff and Kevin discuss what happened in the election of 1856 and New York’s place in the election before the civil war. Kevin recounts Abraham Lincoln’s speech at Cooper Union in New York before he was elected in 1860. Jeff asks if NY Republicans helped Lincoln get elected, which they did since they agreed with Lincoln’s anti-slavery views. Segment 2 Jeff asks why support for Lincoln in NY wasn’t more significant, which was due to many New Yorkers still being pro-slavery. In Lincoln’s second election, his numbers went down even more in New York because of fear that Lincoln would lose the Civil War. Jeff then brings up the election of 1880 for Vice President Chester Arthur, a native New Yorker. They then talk about Teddy Roosevelt, who was on the ticket for William McKinley’s second term as president. Segment 3 Kevin begins by talking about some of the private tours he offers during the pandemic and how COVID-19 has affected his business. Jeff asks Kevin how New York reacted to Roosevelt’s more progressive policies, which tended to be looked down upon by the upper classes. They discuss why Roosevelt didn't run for a third term, which his advisors disagreed with because he did not serve two full terms. Jeff mentions NY Governor Al Smith, who ran for president in 1920 but did not win the election despite being beloved by New Yorkers. He was unpopular because he was against prohibition and a champion for the working class. Segment 4 Jeff brings up Franklin Roosevelt and why he was supported for re-election in 1936, which comes from his response to getting America out of the Great Depression. Jeff asks why the Republican party nominated Governor Thomas Dewey to run against Roosevelt in the 1940s. Dewey appealed to many people because he tended to be partisan and fears of Roosevelt’s failing health. Jeff and Kevin discuss Nelson Rockefeller, who ran for president but ended up as vice president. He was unsuccessful as a politician because of his progressive policies regarding abortion that were unpopular at the time. Ultimately he could not connect with the republican party of the time.
Today's episode is all about Presidents James A. Garfield and Chester A. Arthur. Garfield, the 20th president of the United States, was only in office six and a half months before he died from medical complications following a botched assassination. Just sixteen years after Lincoln's death, Garfield was the second president assassinated. His vice president, Chester Arthur, served the remainder of his term. We will learn from two experts about why Arthur's presidency was dominated by civil service reform, debates over immigration, and conflict over Native American policy—and how the administration might have gone differently if Garfield had survived. For this episode, we spoke to two esteemed scholars. Todd Arrington and Dr. Katie Benton-Cohen helped us grapple with three critical themes: First, the potential for greater civil rights under President Garfield and the opportunity lost with his assassination.Second, the emergence of the southwest as a site of racial tension.Third, the increasing role of immigration in racial relations. Chester A. Arthur was born on October 5, 1829 in Fairfield, VT, and he was the 21st President of the United States. Not elected as President, Chester Arthur assumed the presidency upon the death of James A. Garfield. He said, "God knows I do not want the place I was never elected to." The 1880 Republican National Convention was coming apart at the seems as a bitter division threatened to split the party in half. The compromise ticket of James Garfield for president and Chester Arthur for vice president kept the party together and profoundly changed the country—and Chester Arthur.
Chester Arthur was sworn in as the 21st President of The United States in 1881 when Charles Guiteau assassinated President James Garfield. Arthur was thought to be a pawn to political machine boss Roscoe "Boss" Conkling, but Arthur distanced himself from the Stalwarts during his short term. We look at what Chester did well and what is not looked back on as kindly. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/collin-sugg/message

Chester Arthur finds himself the first unwilling president of the United States. The bad news: He has done nothing but embrace a corrupt form of government his whole adult life - and now finds himself pushed to the top by a man who killed another president to allow this system to continue. The good news: He has a mighty moustache. Let's see how we rank him!
Arthur is not the most well known of presidents, but that does not mean he did not achieve much in his early life. Who else managed this level of corruption? Who else could claim to benefit from the patronage system so well? Who else was so much of a Conkling man? He may be a coaster, but damn it, he could coast like the best of them.

Today, I continue the theme of how so many “conservatives” you see on TV have accepted foundational premises of the Left on key issues. Nowhere is this more evident than with birthright citizenship. I offer a unique history lesson explaining exactly what our Founders meant by “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” and a wild fact about Chester Arthur. I also show how too many conservative legal scholars are making a mistake by adding on to fundamental rights rather than confining them to where they belong. Finally, I delve into some new crime and border stats to demonstrate the point that our political leaders need to focus on trends and not downplay their significance until things get worse. https://youtu.be/AeADD7mcsCM 1 Sam 14:47-52 You are being watched This scripture summarizes Sauls production as king. It is not unlike other summarizations that we get about other kings. What is really different is WHERE we get it. Sauls life isn’t over. Still more time coming in Sauls life, but we get the conclusion right nowWonder why? Seems like with God-, Sauls reign is over and his days are numbered. From the surface- it seems like Saul did a pretty good job as king. Kept back the enemies of Israel, defeated the amalekites, delivered Israel. Nice work!Do you know the biggest thing that missing from this summary tho? No mention of his relationship with God. A casual reader would assume that he was not the king of God’s people. He did not worship God or depend on him. He just lived and did stuffTake the part of the summation of King Josiah- King of Judah2 Kings 23:25 Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him.Saul never even defeated the Philistines- He couldn’t do it without God!Sauls summation of his life and reign differed greatly from that of King Josiah why? Josiah followed God! He lived a Godly life and did things for YHWH What do you want your legacy to be In this discourse, the author of Samuel takes the time to declare the accomplishments of SaulHe established Israels sovereignty, he fought enemies, he harassed them, he ran an army, he had some kids, he had a commander, he went to war and didn’t win.Saul was king of Israel and this is how he is remembered- People today- still talking aboutREAD 2 Kings 18:4-8 King Hezikiah was remembered well! He lived a good life! That’s a good legacy- that’s how you want people to talk about you!JUDAS- Acts 1:18 (Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out.2 tim 1:5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. These are Bible legacies! These are people of faith that made it in the book!Warren Harding, Chester Arthur, Millard Filmore what do they have in common? Forgettable US Presidents- No substantial policies or wars. Just got to be president. Also- no mention of God only president I can think of in Modern times where Faith is paramount to them? Jimmy CarterI had a relative who was a chaplain in the Revolutionary War- Elijah Lynch. He’s rememberedI think of People like Paul Alexander- he’s not remembered for his bus stations. He’s a man of faith! Wife is a woman of faith, 3 great sons, with great kids who love the Lord! That’s a legacy!I have done many funerals when I sit with the family- trying to come up with what to sayNo one cares about what you accomplished at your job. Matt fixed the parking lot, bought a building, installed some new doors. NO- Please NO- I want my life to matter!Luke 9:23-25 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? The plumb line for a life of Legacy is in what you are desiring. What are you buildingAre you trying to gain the whole world? More money, more house, more stuff, more status?anyone care when Paul Allen died? I care because he’s a person- but even owning the seahawks isn’t a godly legacy- He had billions- cancer still got him and $$ doesn’t get him into heaven What does it mean to you?The Bible records you well, or records the truth of what really happened. Find them on the Free Music Archive website.
Professors Richard Epstein and John Yoo are back from Memorial Day and the holiday's been good to them: John's got dispatches from Hawaii (tune in for the spam coverage) and Epstein's got big news on the Roman law front. Then they turn to the burning issues: pardons for Dinesh D'Souza, Martha Stewart, and Rod Blagojevich? Did the FBI overreach by putting an informant in the Trump campaign? Is the deep state real (and is Chester Arthur to blame)? What are the consequences of the Supreme Court allowing states to legalize sports betting (and is there a libertarian case against gambling)? Is the NFL's new national anthem policy illegal (a topic we introduced mainly to allow the professors to dunk on Vox). And finally, what considerations should guide Justice Kennedy's decision on whether to retire? We can think of at least two qualified replacements.Sponsored by Casper, RXBAR, QuipJoin the conversation and comment on this podcast episode: https://ricochet.com/podcast/law-talk/craps/.Podcast listeners: Now become a Ricochet member for only $2.50 a month! Writers Who Don't Write interviewed Lillian Cunningham in March of 2017 regarding her role as the editor of the Washington Post's On Leadership section and host of the popular Presidential podcast. She sat down with us to chat about writing, producing and hosting a poiltical podcast during the 2016 election, what comes next, and the presidency of Chester Arthur, America's most forgotten president. Since we interviewed her, she has launched Constitutional, an excellent podcast looking back at various constitutional issues throughout America's history. Welcome to this episode of the Real Fast Results podcast! Today’s special guest is the infamous indie author and publisher Michael J. Knowles. He is a managing editor and cultural correspondent at The Daily Wire and a recent Yale graduate. In addition to that, he’s also a fine actor, but right now, he’s best noted as the author of Reasons to Vote for Democrats: A Comprehensive Guide. This book became a bestseller on Amazon, and not just a bestseller in one certain category, but the bestseller over all the books on Amazon. If you didn’t know, this is actually a gag book, filled with almost no content until you reach an extensive bibliography at the end. Download the Complete PDF Show Notes Free for this Episode Coming Up With the Idea for This Book [bctt tweet="I wish there was some elaborate story about how I was going to market this thing & that I knew it was going to #1" via="no"] That really, wasn’t it. I thought it would be a funny gag. I was just sitting on the couch with my fiancé, and I said, “You know, there really ought to be…” And, by the way, this is an old gag. This gag has been around since at least 1880, which is when the Republican ticket of Chester Arthur and James Garfield published a blank book of their political opponent’s statesmanship and political achievements. Again, that was also republicans trolling democrats with this same gag. Learn How the book came about About the friends that helped Mike promote the book: Daily Wire crew as well as Ben Shapiro and Steven Crowder The cover of the book Why the book became so popular The networking and promotion strategy Download the Complete PDF Show Notes Free for this Episode Connecting with Michael The best way is probably through Twitter. It’s @MichaelJKnowles, but I’m on every platform. You can find me on Facebook or on Twitter. I’m sure that you can find my email on a million pages that are out there. But, please do connect. This is one aspect I’ve really loved about this whole experience, and that is talking personally with people. It may take a while, but I’ll always get back to you. I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts. It’s been a really fun and totally surreal experience for me, but the most amusing part is reading what everyone else is writing. I mean, those reviews on Amazon, and those Tweets, are really made up of some genuinely funny humor. So, send them at me because I look forward to reading them. Real Fast Results Community If you are diggin’ on this stuff and really love what we’re doing here at Real Fast Results, would you please do me a favor?
