President Donald Trump appointed Andy Puzder ambassador to the European Union this past week. But before he heads to Brussels, Puzder is warning about the left-wing scourge of stakeholder capitalism. As the former chief executive of CKE Restaurants, a major fast food corporation operating Carl's Jr. and Hardee's, Puzder knows what it takes to run a successful business. That's why he's so alarmed at the trends he's witnessing in corporate America. He spoke to The Daily Signal about his new book, “A Tyranny for the Good of its Victims: The Ugly Truth about Stakeholder Capitalism.” In this episode, we cover: • How BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street accumulated unprecedented control over U.S. corporations • The real meaning behind ESG policies and their impact on American business • Why major brands are adopting policies that seem to conflict with their customer base • The effectiveness of consumer boycotts against woke corporate policies • Capitalism's historic role in reducing global poverty Purchase your copy of “A Tyranny for the Good of Its Victims” on Amazon: https://amzn.to/4ayJ1gZ Keep Up With The Daily Signal Sign up for our email newsletters: https://www.dailysignal.com/email Subscribe to our other shows: The Tony Kinnett Cast: https://www.dailysignal.com/the-tony-kinnett-cast Problematic Women: https://www.dailysignal.com/problematic-women The Signal Sitdown: https://www.dailysignal.com/the-signal-sitdown Follow The Daily Signal: X: https://x.com/DailySignal Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailysignal/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDailySignalNews/ Truth Social: https://truthsocial.com/@DailySignal YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/DailySignal Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/TheDailySignal Thanks for making The Daily Signal Podcast your trusted source for the day's top news. Why are companies like Disney so intent on pushing the transgender agenda? The answer lies with a small, influential group of financial elites who have hijacked American institutions to impose harmful woke policies like ESG and DEI. But here's the good news: Americans are fighting back, rejecting these radical and unjust initiatives. Andy Puzder, former CEO of Hardee's and Carl's Jr. joins The Kevin Roberts Show to expose the dangers of stakeholder capitalism and its impact on our nation. About Andy: Andrew Puzder, former Chief Executive of CKE Restaurants and economic expert, is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow for business and economic freedom at The Heritage Foundation. Puzder began his career as a commercial trial lawyer in St. Louis in 1978 and later served as the personal attorney for entrepreneur Carl Karcher. He went on to become CEO of the well-known fast food powerhouses Carl's Jr. and Hardee's chains in 2000, expanding to 3,800 locations and leading the company out of serious financial difficulties. He has authored several books, including Job Creation: How It Really Works and Why Government Doesn't Understand It; The Capitalist Comeback: The Trump Boom and the Left's Plot to Stop It; Getting America Back to Work; It's Time to Let America Work Again; and A Tyranny for the Good of its Victims: The Ugly Truth about Stakeholder Capitalism. Earlier in his career, Mr. Puzder was a commercial trial lawyer in St. Louis. He authored legislation in Missouri—acknowledging that life begins at conception and granting unborn children rights in contexts other than abortion (such as criminal, tort, and inheritance laws)—which the U.S. Supreme Court upheld in Webster v. Reproductive Health Services in 1989.

In the latest episode of the Hospitality Hangout podcast, Michael Schatzberg “The Restaurant Guy” and Jimmy Frischling “The Finance Guy” sit down with Phil Crawford, the chief technology officer of CKE Restaurants, to explore the ongoing digital revolution in the restaurant industry.CKE Restaurants is a Tennessee-based, privately held company that runs and operates Carl's Jr. and Hardee's. The two regional brands combined represent over 3,800 franchised or company-operated restaurants in 44 states and 43 foreign countries and U.S. territories.Crawford moved from New York City—having previously served as the chief technology officer for Godiva—to Nashville to join CKE in the fall of 2020.“Nashville and New York City are two parts of the spectrum. But the exciting part is that when it comes down to hospitality and technology, there's a lot of synergies within both cities and corporations,” says Crawford. “They both have a desire and drive to be the best they can possibly be… it's all about scale and size, and ensuring that we have the guest experience in mind.”Restaurants—looking to adapt to evolving operational and consumer needs—are moving away from POS systems. Most systems and processes have entered the realm of mobile technology, leading to the creation of more cloud-based systems, direct-to-consumer interactions, analytics, and artificial intelligence to better reach customers.“Any kind of digital ecosystem that's out there that you can infuse the guest experience is where everything's going,” adds Crawford. “It's all about trying to bridge that gap between what we think our consumers know and what they do know, and making it a personalized journey. The 2024 GOP candidate field is widening this week as Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) officially launched his presidential campaign on Monday, and reports suggest Florida Governor Ron DeSantis plans to announce his candidacy this week as well. As the list of Republican candidates grows, campaigning and fundraising will be sure to heat up soon. Filings show Senator Scott has entered the race with more funds than any of his competitors, with $22 million on hand, while the current leading candidate, former President Trump, only had $14 million in his campaign's war chest by the end of March. Former Deputy Chief of Staff to President George W. Bush and Fox News contributor Karl Rove joins the podcast to analyze the Senator's chances of winning the nomination and how his positive message contradicts the narrative pushed by the left. A recently unsealed court filing revealed the FBI had improperly used warrantless search powers on U.S. citizens over 278,000 times, looking into Americans involved in the Capitol riot, George Floyd protests, and more. FBI Director Wray spoke on this revelation, saying the FBI's misusing Section 702 of FISA was a mistake that drove the bureau to make stricter changes to the system. Some lawmakers are not trusting these mistakes won't happen again, saying they want to see even tighter restrictions on the bureau's warrantless search tool, which should only be allowed to acquire intelligence on foreign targets. Retired FBI Special Agent John Iannarelli joins the Rundown to discuss how he believes this surveillance tool came to be misused by the FBI, the threat posed by politicization within the bureau, and what the intelligence organization must do to regain the trust of the American people. Plus, commentary by the former CEO of CKE Restaurants and Hardee's, Andy Puzder. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

As election results continue to pour in, President Biden has said he is prepared to work alongside Republicans in Congress, stressing that he believes Americans ‘expect Republicans to be prepared to work with me as well.' The GOP is still expected to win back the House, though now pundits are projecting a thinner majority margin. Republican House members may soon face the challenge of accomplishing things on their agenda in a very divided government. FOX News Sunday Host Shannon Bream joins the Rundown to discuss the obstacles the new majority may face, and what legislation they hope to pass. For years, many veterans grappling with PTSD, depression, or traumatic brain injuries have often felt isolated or hopeless after returning from war. Former Navy SEAL Marcus Capone suffered from depression and insomnia for years after returning home, despite an array of prescription medications. However, after he started using psychedelic medicine, he was ‘excited to just live again' in a way he hadn't in years.
