You can learn a lot from working on a trauma unit in a hospital.  A thriving sales operation requires many of the same skills. Identifying the real problem quickly, prioritising and triaging where attention is required and administering treatment where and when it is needed most. All whilst remaining calm and overriding the temptation to focus on who is shouting the loudest, and all with limited resources. Sarah Downs, former trauma nurse, has transitioned from A&E to sales leadership. She shares her insights on sales, and the parallels between the sales environment and the transferable skills she picked dealing with emergencies and traumas. A refreshingly fresh perspective offering some valuable insights sales leaders and salespeople can implement quickly and simply. +++ MORE TO IT +++ Have you ever read or listened to a story and felt there was more to it than what you read or heard? When I first heard and read about coaching, I really thought that it wasn't for me. Actually, I didn't see the purpose of it. The only reference I had of coaching, was in the area of sports. Fast forward to today. I now wonder how can a person who aspires for greatness, do without a coach. Think about the likes of Tiger Woods, Lebron James, the late Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and so many others. There is one thing that is true of all these people ... they all had coaches. In this episode, our guest - Sarah Wirth, discusses how leaders can become more effective at leading when they choose the coaching path to help their team be more successful. ++++++++++++++++++ Who is Sarah Wirth? SARAH WIRTH is the President of EcSell Institute, the world's first and only organization to measure and quantify leadership effectiveness. She is considered one of the world's foremost authorities in metric-based performance coaching and growth. Her book, The Coaching Effect, coauthored by EcSell Institute CEO Bill Eckstrom, helps leaders at all levels understand the necessity of challenging people out of their comfort zone to create high-growth organizations. “Once you start examining it, then it’s yours. Then you own it. These are MY memories. I’m not reacting out of something that happened to me; I’m reacting out of something that I own. It’s a small little adjustment in your brain, and it’s everything.” Sarah Brennan is a wife, mother of two beautiful boys and a Reiki practitioner living in Chicago. After leaving a career in the restaurant industry to raise her children, she focused on her own healing from decades old sexual trauma - through talk therapy, meditation, and Reiki.  Her path has led her to become a Reiki practitioner and she hopes to focus on helping others to heal from emotional and sexual trauma.  In this interview she discusses - among other things - how she made the conscious choice to heal after hitting rock bottom, how she then took on her healing as a full-time job and how she is raising her two boys to be aware and conscious about sexuality and consent.  --------------------------------------------------- SUBSCRIBE to the show to be the first to hear about new episodes! "If I'm willing to take a new definition of vulnerability and recognize it as 'This is part of the human condition; everyone is vulnerable to something, and no one leaves this world unscathed in some way.' If I'm willing to look at it that way, I have more of a chance to empower myself and to help myself, rather than to just stay stuck." Sarah Buino is a Chicago based therapist and founder and president of Head/Heart Therapy, a group practice that specializes in addiction, shame and complementary healing modalities. In this interview we discuss the concept of sexual abuse on the energetic level and the nuances of sexual trauma, as well as its relationship to addiction. She also shares hope for healing in discussing the approach of finding the ease in the "dis-ease" and the importance of vulnerability and empathy as the antidotes to shame. --------------------------------------------------- SUBSCRIBE to the show to be the first to hear about new episodes! In one heartbeat, all the hopes and dreams of Sarah Schieber's heart changed.  Literally.  On October 7th, 2007, as Chad (her husband) and Sarah were running the Chicago Marathon, he collapsed and went home to be with Jesus right there on the streets of south Chicago.  Sarah says, "In one instant, I became a 33-year-old widow and a single mama to three young children.  Through the ensuing journey of grief, I found my Lord to be so faithful and gentle.  He led me through the valley.  He never abandoned me or told me I had to hurry up and be happy.  He was a faithful friend and a constant comfort to me in the loneliest and darkest days of my life.  While my story has its own unique features, the reality is that people everywhere are struggling.  Pain is no respecter of persons or religions.  If you walk this earth you will certainly experience heartache along the way.  The wonderful news is that we serve a God who cares about every situation we walk through.  The good news, also, is that we serve a God who walks WITH us THROUGH every situation". Sarah is the beautiful voice behind the song, Christmas in Heaven, written by Paul Marino and Jeremy Johnson, and we're happy to feature the song here as part of her interview. Through a series of wonderful miracles, Sarah got to record the song in Nashville during September of 2008.  Released to Christian radio in November 2008, it climbed to #15 on the national Soft AC/Inspirational chart published by Radio & Records, the industry's leading magazine. Sarah also sold nearly 4,000 copies of the CD single from her home. "This just doesn't happen!" says Wendell Gafford, a fifteen year radio promotions veteran and President of Creative Promotions, hired to promote "Christmas In Heaven." We've promoted over 200 national Top 20 singles and I don't ever remember a song having this kind of impact!" Christmas in Heaven has continued to bless many people during the ensuing years and this last holiday season found the song ministering in a profound way to people all over the county in the aftermath of the devastation school shooting in Newtown, CT on Dec. 14, 2012. DJ Johnny Burke,WHNN-FM radio personality, had so many requests for the song that he put together a remix of Sarah's Christmas in Heaven with President Obama's reading of the victims names from the community interfaith service. The remix of the song was played all across the nation for the rest of the holiday season. Contact Sarah at http://www.sarahschrieber.com Contact Pam and Frances @ brandnewmepodcast@gmail.com.
