Teachers and administrators are the true backbones of our education system. Each day they head to work to impart knowledge, create a safe environment, and motivate their students. It takes heart and passion to teach. And a positive work environment creates a sense of belonging and desire to invest in student success.In this episode, we have the distinct honor of speaking with Dr. Danny Steele, principal at Pell City High School in Alabama. Danny's positive approach to helping his faculty and staff navigate teaching trickles down to his students. Sometimes there are big achievements to celebrate, but Danny shares that even the small ones are important because we never know how they will impact the student. Danny shares that parents have a stake in student success and provides several strategies for parents to partner with schools to ensure their child is gaining the skills they need. This week, I’m overjoyed to be joined by Danny Steele, the Principal of Thompson Sixth Grade Center in the Alabaster City School System, a public speaker, and popular blogger on “Steelethoughts”.

Our guest today is Dr Danny Steele, Principal of Thompson Sixth Grade Center in Alabama in the United States. Danny has worked in public education for more than 25 years, he runs a hugely successful blog and Twitter account, and in 2016 he was named Alabama's Secondary Principal of the Year. He joins us for this School Improvement podcast to talk more about the role of a principal in building and maintaining a positive school culture. We cover a whole range of things including how to build positive relationships with students, the importance of genuinely listening to parents, and making difficult decisions as a school leader.
