Skeleton Crew's fourth episode brought us to the halfway point of the first season, but it didn't leave all young viewers with a feeling of anticipation and excitement. Episode five, "You Have A Lot To Learn About Pirates" starts off the downhill portion by solving riddles and puzzles and giving us what we didn't even know we wanted. Other Star Wars shows have given us Muuns before, but Skeleton Crew makes it feel right. Tak Rennod is even better than Dash Rendar, in my opinion, but maybe Lucasfilm thought for a millisecond they'd use that character and then...played with the name? SM-33 follows order from a new cap'n now, but it makes sense, even if we don't like it. Fern stands tall even while yielding and works well with Wim, who can't work a lightsaber to save Fern's life. KB is going to have to access her visor for those coordinates, isn't she? Neel uses his keen sense of stomach to suss out a bit of barbecue that couldn't possibly be. Jod makes his heel turn and uses the Force. Cthollops had to get rich somehow, so why not imagine it's in destruc--I mean, construction? We hope you enjoyed Christmas Eve and Christmas. This is the Way Podcast HQ had too much to do on the eve so we waited until the presents were all opened to sit down for episode five. Today we discuss the Shadows of the Empire comic. In public, Prince Xizor is the head of a powerful shipping company, but in private he is in charge of Black Sun, a vast criminal empire. He is the third most powerful being in the known galaxy, behind only Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader. Xizor hates Vader and looks for ways to undermine him. When he learns of Vader's interest in Luke Skywalker, he decides to kill the Rebel to make his rival look bad. Luke, Leia, Lando, and Chewbacca are trying to rescue Han after the events at Cloud City. Boba Fett still hasn't made his way to Jabba's Palace and they are trying to intercept Slave I before he gets there. To help them, they've hired a hotshot pilot named Dash Rendar.
Mike and Joe are back from the World Between Worlds and this time they're discussing the elements they'd love to see resurrected from the Legends Expanded Universe and brought back into canon or reinvented, such as characters like Dash Rendar. This is a jam packed episode of the Smugglers' Galaxy Podcast! Jason brings up how hiding ads in the Chilean version of Star Wars changes how a main character is viewed. Additionally, he brings up Shadows of the Empire and how disappointed he is this isn't canon (forget Starkiller and bring on Dash Rendar). Glen and Jason debate if Jedi should be taking lives. And finally, they talk about the latest batch of episodes from The Bad Batch. For episode 162, we welcomed Dash Rendar to the show! Dash, who goes by the name of @garnishandgains on Instagram, is known for his love of his longbow and other ancient types of weapons like swords and spears, which he demonstrates their effectiveness through different drills and exercises. He has his own successful YouTube channel under too! In our discussion we covered how his love of fantasy and RPG games lead to the field testing of various weapons, the amount of research that he puts into the testing of weapons and their role throughout history, the correlation between using weapons effectively and fitness, what his neighbors think when they seem him throwing spears and smashing shields, why he loves the longbow, and so much more! #dashrendar #longbow #weapontraining Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSPeYAFp2QDiVpnTn8WKRQw/join Learn more about your ad choices. I know, I know haha. Fortunately, his game is a lot cooler than he is. We're talking Shadows of the Empire! I only got into Star Wars about 3 years ago, and once I saw the movies, I had to start playing the games. And I'm happy to say that, six games into the library, I haven't played a "bad" Star Wars video game yet. This one is probably the closest, but I don't think it's bad. It's just an early N64 game. This is one of our "stupid sexy sponsored" episodes, so said sponsor and long-time hot dog, PBRJax, swings by the show to explain why he's such a Dash fan. And then the Chewy to my Han Solo, my buddy Tyler, gives me a call to talk about how none of us can beat this fucking game. And before we save the galaxy, I use the force to summon another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks what my favourite (and least favourite) video games shows/movies are. Should a parent let their kid beat them at video games? And when will I play Baldur's Gate 3!?! Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! Special thanks to @The.Archivist. for cover art. Here are the first fourteen chapters of my unofficial and unabridged audiobook of the Star Wars Expanded Universe masterpiece novel Shadow Games. Shadow Games is a novel by Michael Reaves and Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff that was released on November 29, 2011. It is a "rags to riches" story of a holostar during the Rebellion's early days, taking place before the events in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and also features Dash Rendar. I have a passion for Star Wars Audiobooks. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/decadebird/support

Another ep featuring an N64 game! This time we're ripping through the Star Wars universe, in a game that really does it all. One could argue that it doesn't do it all very well, but it still has a little bit of everything. Whether you're flying across the snowy fields of Hoth, venturing on foot, swimming, jumping from train to train, or cruising through space, you get to assume the role of Dash Rendar as he makes an effort to stop the dastardly Xizor from crushing the Rebel Alliance and strengthening the Empire. From the various styles of play to the soundtrack, we try to touch on it all here. Please join us as we explore all aspects of this popular franchise entry!
What A Piece Of Junk! A Star Wars Podcast EP.88: Shadows Of The Empire (1996) Retrospective. Watch the video version of this show on the Fandom Podcast Network YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/oNJHcD_NKcs On this episode of What A Piece Of Junk, a Star Wars Podcast, your 'Drunken Gungan' crew discuss: 'Shadows of the Empire' (1996) Topic: Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire is a 1996 multimedia project created by Lucasfilm. The idea was to create a story set between the films The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and to explore all commercial possibilities of a full motion picture release without actually making a film. The venture was intended to reinvigorate interest in the franchise ahead of the theatrical Special Editions of the Star Wars trilogy released the following year. Several products were released, including a novel, comic book series, video game, soundtrack, trading cards, role-playing games, posters, model kits, and a variety of toys. The story introduces Rebel ally Dash Rendar, who aids the heroes in their attempt to liberate the frozen Han Solo from bounty hunter Boba Fett. Meanwhile, Darth Vader continues the search for his son, Luke Skywalker, whom crime lord Prince Xizor attempts to kill in his plot to replace Vader at the side of Emperor Palpatine. What A Piece of Junk is THE podcast on the Fandom Podcast Network dedicated to covering everything Star Wars. From the original Star Wars trilogy movies, prequels, sequels, Legends canon, Disney's acquisition of Star Wars and its products, and all the fan favorite content out there, we have you covered. So please make sure to stop on over at your local cantina, grab a drink, cozy on up to your favorite alien (or droid), and get ready to talk Star Wars! Joe, Alfie, Brent, Dave and Nick welcome Steve Glosson of Geek Out Loud. We discuss a number of Star Wars topics: Will there be Bothans in Andor series? What Star Wars collectible is Alfie getting soon? And when will his Boba Fett helmet show up? Steve thought the number would be higher...which led to Steve and Brent discussing the merits of Mortis! Adam Bray wanted to know what the name of Steve's personal starship would be in Star Wars. We had a Quantum Leap question for Steve but I am not sure we ever got an answer. Reminder, that our crew will be attending ICCC in Nashville April 29 - May 1 and we hope to see you there. This week we're chatting with our good friend Dallan, who might love Dash Rendar more than we remembered, about his recent experiences falling in love with Star Wars Animation for the first time! We stick mostly to Rebels and the Bad Batch but of course there's always a bit of variance. Welcome to HoloNet Marauders! Our Patreon, bonus episodes & behind the scenes! Episode XV: The Galaxy's Best Video GamesOur hosts discusses the the possibility of Gal Gadot playing a Sith Princess in an upcoming Disney project, while also debating her country of origin. After some shoddy and unnecessary French accents, the crew talks about their favorite Star Wars video games! We cover everything from Dash Rendar to Ewok hunt. Don't miss it!
Talking Bay 94 host Brandon Wainerdi joins us to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Shadows of the Empire! Shadows of the Empire, the 'movie without a movie' that returned Star Wars to the public consciousness a year before the release of the Special Editions, began to be rolled out 25 years ago this month. The multimedia blitz included an iconic N64 game, as well as a book, a comic, a toy line, a soundtrack and more – and we're exploring all of it this episode! From our memories of 1996 to our picks for a live-action Dash Rendar, this is a heartfelt celebration of an ambitious experiment that continues to impact the franchise today. For more of Brandon's work, listen to Talking Bay 94! For more on Shadows of the Empire, revisit our interview with LucasArts legend Jon Knoles and our in-depth blog post on the project's origins. Force Material is a podcast exploring the secrets and source material of Star Wars with hosts Rohan Williams and Baz McAlister. It's May, and that means we return to the world of Star Wars here at The Tape Store. For Star Wars month this year, we decided to explore the Expanded Universe, beginning with the prolific 1996 novel Shadows of the Empire by Steve Perry, which spawned a line of toys, a comic book series, and a Nintendo 64 video game. In Part 1 of a two-part series with guest co-host Jeff Darden, we cover the story's prologue, which gives us a very interesting perspective on a classic scene from Empire Strikes Back. We then pick up with Luke Skywalker and friends (Leia, Chewy, and Lando), right after the events of Empire, as they pursue Boba Fett in hopes of saving Han. In the midst of this, Luke continues his Jedi training and also continually evades the clutches of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. We also introduce new characters, the "Han-alternate" Dash Rendar, as well as the complex and interesting new antagonist, Prince Xizor.
