Két, komoly lövöldözés is volt hétvégén Dél-Afrikában, ahol egy sorozatgyilkos is szedheti éppen áldozatait. Magyar Péter ismét országot jár, Orbán Viktor is valami hasonlót kezdett el. Kőváry István története a holokauszt túlélésétől és az 1956-os forradalomtól egészen az amerikai űrprogramig, a North American Aviation X-15 kísérleti repülőgépéig vezet. Egy magyar fiú, aki 14 évesen, angoltudás nélkül menekült Amerikába, később mérnökként az X-15 programon dolgozott, majd teljesen új karriert épített CPA-ként Kaliforniában. Kőváry István mégis azt mondja magáról: „Én vagyok a legszerencsésebb ember." De hogyan mondhat ilyet valaki, akinek már négyéves korában a túlélésért kellett küzdenie? 1944-ben, kisgyerekként szüleit munkaszolgálatra hívták be. Őt egy svájci védett házba vitték Budapesten. A svéd védett házba később nyilasok törtek be, lakóit pedig elhurcolták. Pista úgy fogalmaz, ennek a döntésnek is köszönheti, hogy ma életben van. A háború borzalmai ezzel nem értek véget. Négyéves gyerekként Budapesten bombázásokat, halottakat és éhezést látott. Olyan emlékeket idéz fel, amelyek több mint nyolc évtizeddel később is vele vannak. Majd jött 1956. 14 évesen két barátjával elhagyta Magyarországot. A három fiú végül a világ három különböző pontjára került: egyikük Brazíliába, másikuk Ausztráliába, Pista pedig az Egyesült Államokba. Santa Monicában élt egy rokona, így Kalifornia lett az úti cél. Már az Amerikán belüli repülőútja is majdnem tragédiával végződött. A TWA gépe St. Louisban felszállás közben lecsúszott a kifutópályáról. Pista pedig ott állt egyedül, egy szót sem beszélve angolul. A rokonokkal való együttélés nem működött sokáig. Az iskola végül talált számára egy amerikai családot, amely befogadta. Később fiatalkorúként önállósították, így dolgozhatott, miközben iskolába járt. A Santa Monica High School úszócsapatának is tagja lett. Éjszakánként a postán leveleket szortírozott, reggel pedig ment tovább az iskolába. Mérnökként később állást kapott a North American Aviationnél, ahol három évig az X-15 kísérleti rakétarepülőgépen dolgozott. Megbízhatósági vizsgálatokkal foglalkozott, és az egyes kísérleti repülések pilótáinak kiválasztásában is részt vett. Az X-15-öt egy B-52-es vitte a magasba, majd onnan indult saját rakétahajtóművével. A gép több mint hatszoros hangsebességet ért el. Pista olyan emberekkel került kapcsolatba, akik az amerikai repülés és űrkutatás legendás alakjai lettek. Az X-15 program lezárása után újabb fordulat következett. A mérnöki pálya helyett teljesen más szakmát választott. Így lett a magyar menekültből amerikai repülőgép-mérnök, majd CPA és üzletember. Beszélgetünk a családjáról, a holokausztról, 1956-ról, az Amerikába való beilleszkedésről, a Los Angeles-i magyar közösségről és arról is, mit jelent számára ennyi év után magyarnak és amerikainak lenni. Előkerül Koltai Róbert és a Sose halunk meg különleges amerikai története is. Ez egy olyan ember életútja, aki többször is elveszíthette volna mindazt, amit addig felépített, mégis minden alkalommal újrakezdett.
