In this episode, you'll learn: How to navigate the fear and freedom of questioning your faith Why letting go of hell might be the most spiritually honest thing you do A deeper perspective on forgiveness, ego, and reclaiming your inner divinity Isn't it kind of messed up that so many of us were traumatized as kids by the idea of eternal hell? We were just trying to be good. Trying to make sense of the world. But instead of being taught how to connect with love, we were taught how to fear God. “Narrow is the gate.”Only 144,000 get in.Lukewarm believers will be spit out. Many are called, but few are chosen. So you start asking: Am I one of the chosen? And if I am… how do I know I'm choosing this? How does that even make sense? You try to believe hard enough. You pray the right way. You do everything you're told. But deep down, you still feel unsafe. Still wonder if you'll be punished forever just for getting it wrong. John Rainey was a teaching pastor who spent decades inside the system—until one question about eternal hell cracked it wide open. What followed was a complete spiritual awakening and a return to divine love, free from fear. He's the author of Finding God, Losing God, Becoming God and host of the podcast House of Saint Rainey. Matthew Lee Richards, 42, a former youth pastor at Crossroads Christian Church, pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of attempted first-degree murder after admitting to stabbing his wife and four children in an act tied to an imminent eviction due to overwhelming debt. Richards remains in Johnson County Jail and is scheduled for sentencing on March 26. According to the Johnson County District Attorney's Office, several 911 calls were received just before 4 a.m. on September 16, 2023, reporting a house fire and a stabbing in a Shawnee residence, a suburb of Kansas City. One caller described hearing a fire alarm and a distressing account of a father chasing his children with a knife, while another reported a stabbing. Officers arriving at the scene discovered three victims with stab wounds outside the blazing home. Investigators reported that smoke was billowing from the residence and that an explosion had blown out the garage doors. The affidavit detailed that Richards' wife, four sons (including one 19-year-old, with the remaining minors), and daughter were all stabbed, with his wife and two children sustaining serious injuries. One of the children later told officers that the family had been asleep when Richards began his attack, with one minor stating, “dad has a knife.” Once apprehended and treated for smoke inhalation, Richards reportedly confessed during an interview, saying, “I stabbed my family.” Detectives later revealed that Richards had not been honest with his wife about their dire financial situation. Facing eviction that very day, the family had not been prepared, prompting Richards to hatch a plan that involved setting the house on fire as a cover for his attack. He admitted that after igniting the fire in the basement, he armed himself with a knife and began stabbing his family. Though Richards claimed limited recollection of stabbing the children, investigators noted his acknowledgment of the violence inflicted upon them, including detailed injuries such as a horizontal slash across a son's neck and a laceration that exposed internal organs. Neighbors recounted the chaos unfolding that night. “It's sad, knowing that we've seen those kids out playing in their driveway, with their family,” said one local resident, adding that the normally quiet neighborhood was soon overrun with fire crews and police. Richards, who had served as a youth pastor since 2016 and was known for his warm, engaging style with children, had also been a seventh-grade English teacher at Christ Prep Academy. His online biographies, once celebrating his love for teaching and his family's shared passions for God, people, and sports, have since been removed. In response to the tragedy, Crossroads Christian Church's senior pastor Kurt Witten expressed deep shock and sorrow via Facebook, calling the events “a tragedy beyond what any of us could have imagined” and urging respect for the family's privacy as they navigate their long recovery. The church has also set up a fund to assist with medical and living expenses. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? The church is messy, but I am not done with it.
In this powerful episode of the Preacher Boys Podcast, I sit down with Beth White, a survivor of a harrowing marriage defined by abuse, gaslighting, and spiritual manipulation. Beth courageously opens up about her ex-husband Justin White's shocking transformation after an ayahuasca trip, where he claimed he was no longer alive but instead inhabited by higher beings.Beth says that, at times, Justin said he was God; other times, he denied God's existence entirely. He alternated between claiming to be Jesus, an angel of light, or something else altogether. This dangerous delusion culminated in a horrifying act: Justin drugged Beth and their young children in an attempt to bring them into his twisted spiritual visions.Today, Justin calls himself "Justin Love" and claims to be a spiritual healer.Beth shares the dark truth about their marriage and the abuse she endured in this gripping conversation. Her bravery in recounting these events sheds light on the devastating impact of spiritual abuse and manipulation. This episode also revisits prior coverage of Fellowship Baptist Church in Michigan, including interviews with victims and former members, shedding light on a disturbing culture of abuse, cover-ups, and silencing.✖️✖️✖️✖️✖️✖️Support the Show: Patreon.com/PreacherBoys✖️✖️✖️If you or someone you know has experienced abuse, visit courage365.org/need-help✖️✖️✖️CONNECT WITH THE SHOW:preacherboyspodcast.comhttps://www.youtube.com/@PreacherBoyshttps://www.facebook.com/preacherboysdoc/https://twitter.com/preacherboysdochttps://www.instagram.com/preacherboyspodhttps://www.tiktok.com/@preacherboyspodTo connect with a community that shares the Preacher Boys Podcast's mission to expose abuse in the IFB, join the OFFICIAL Preacher Boys Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1403898676438188/✖️✖️✖️The content presented in this video is for informational and educational purposes only. After finding God, and dedicating his life to being a pastor, he started to realize that even the people at the top of the food chain (who he considered to be mentors himself), still didn't have all the answers. In fact, they didn't appear to have very many answers at all. In his desire to seek guidance and reasoning, he began to uncover things he quickly understood he'd never be able to unsee. How vulnerable are you with your kids? How do you encourage them when it comes to their future, goals, or head trash they may have? What are you doing that maybe you aren't showing them, that could help them become better adults? Today's guest Lantz Howard talks about his intentionality with what he shows his kids when it comes to helping others. Not only that, but how important it is to remember why we do the things we do and adjust as our means change. I pray this episode leaves you encouraged, and excited to share more with your kids. In this episode, you'll discover… What is your key trait to winning at work and at home? (2:02) What are some non-negotiables for his family? (3:57) How Lantz was intentional with his daughter, and why he recommends it. (7:20) Leaving the security of a paycheck, to become an entrepreneur. (12:00) Lantz's Bio: I'm Lantz Howard. Disciple of Jesus, husband to Jessica, father of four amazing girls. I've been blessed in life with an amazing family and a career that I love, helping men like myself do the hard work and pursue personal wellness. As an executive coach, I can only be effective to the extent that I start with myself. I've been on a journey to maximize my own physical, emotional, and spiritual health since long before midlife. I remember moments driving my minivan with my beautiful wife sitting next to me and four little girls under the age of 6 in the back. Life was good, but also felt very full. I loved being in ministry, but I struggled with taking on too much and allowing the perspectives of others to cloud my inner compass. My body started sending me subtle signals that it wasn't dealing well with the stress: high blood pressure, heartburn, and a severe bout of shingles. I wasn't burning with purpose: I was burning out. “How the hell am I going to handle all this responsibility?” I wondered. Ironically, I was the one leading groups of men with the same struggles, and they were depending on me to help them find the answers. By leaning into the hard times and choosing to lead with courage, I was able to overcome Impostor Syndrome and craft the life I wanted: a strong body, a passionate marriage, a connected family, and a meaningful career path. Once I stopped letting stress, anxiety, and fear be my main motivators, I was able to experience a lifestyle fueled by joy, peace, and purpose. The best part of my job is that I get to connect with men like me, tenaciously searching for meaning in midlife. They watch those around them spend midlife coasting, relying on previous momentum, or making bad decisions because they sense a problem but don't know exactly what it is. My clients are unwilling to settle for anything less than functioning fully alive. They pursue physical health as a way to add vibrant decades to their lives, and emotional health as a means to build strong relationships and keep growing in meaningful ways. I guide people to maximum flourishing in all areas of life. Learn more on his website. Follow Lantz on LinkedIn What's Next? Are you struggling to win at both home and work? Another podcasting hero of mine, Justin Gentry, does time on Chapel Probation. He talks about his time at Indiana Wesleyan and his epic attempt at being a pastor before deciding his humanity and care of others were more important than his faith. After leaving fundamentalist christian faith, Justin has used his voice and perspective, teaming up with Sarah Heath on the RevCovery Podcast and Tori Williams Douglass on the Go Home, Bible, You're Drunk Podcast. Both are popular shows and both offer incredible healing and growth for their respective audiences. Perhaps most importantly, Justin works out to remain a physically fit specimen of a human. MDJ Script/ Top Stories for July27th Thursday Publish Date: July 26 Wednesday Commercial: Henssler :15 From the Henssler Financial Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast Today is Thursday July 27th and happy 48th birthday to slugger Alex Rodriguez ***A-Rod*** I'm Dan Radcliffe and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Credit Union of Georgia Former pastor living in Cobb charged with 1975 murder of 8-year-old girl Acworth man arrested for shooting cousin at Cobb senior living apartments And a Kennesaw SWAT standoff ends in suicide Plus, Leah McGrath of Ingles Markets talks with Bruce Jenkins about sugar free items and we have our weekly visit with Matt DeBusschere, the Marietta Food guy. All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast. Commercial : CU of GA STORY 1: murder David George Zandstra, an 83-year-old former minister now residing in Cobb County, has been charged with the kidnapping and murder of eight-year-old Gretchen Harrington in Pennsylvania in 1975. The charges were brought after Zandstra admitted to the crime when confronted with evidence of sexual misconduct. He allegedly abducted and killed Harrington after offering her a ride and attempting to sexually assault her. When she resisted, he struck her, believing she was dead. Zandstra was implicated in the abuse of other young girls, prompting authorities to investigate further. He is now in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.....................……... Read more about this at mdjonline.com Story 2: Sentenced Arthur Lee Milsap, a 48-year-old man from Acworth, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for shooting his cousin at a senior living complex in Cobb County. The incident occurred at the Peachstone Independent Senior Living Apartments, where Milsap shot his cousin in both legs after an argument earlier that day. Witnesses saw a man driving away in a white truck, which was identified as Milsap's using FLOCK license plate readers. He pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Milsap will serve 12 years in prison without parole eligibility. Story 3: swat A SWAT standoff took place at a Kennesaw house after a man called 911 and threatened suicide while being armed and with multiple children present. The police were able to get the children out safely, and the man was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident prompted the involvement of the Cobb County Police Department SWAT team, and the man was identified as the father of the children. No other injuries were reported, and the children have been reunited with their family. Authorities encourage people facing difficulties to reach out to the suicide and crisis hotline at 988. we'll be right back Break: ESOG - Dayco – Ingles 4 STORY 4: 130s Lockheed Martin has sold 20 C-130J Hercules aircraft assembled at its Marietta plant to the Australian government for almost $10 billion. The planes will be delivered starting in late 2027 and will replace and expand the Royal Australian Air Force's existing fleet of 12 Hercules aircraft. The C-130J Hercules is an important capability for the Australian Defence Force, used for various missions, including deployments, search and rescue, disaster relief, and medical evacuation. The purchase will create more opportunities for local industry and jobs in Australia. The C-130J Super Hercules is the flagship program of Lockheed's Marietta plant, employing nearly 5,000 people and being an essential asset for the country's defense. STORY 5: tax The Democratic majority on the Cobb Board of Commissioners rejected a proposal by the board's two Republicans to roll back the millage rate, opting to keep it steady at 8.46 mills. The roll-back was seen as providing tax relief by the Republicans, but the Democrats saw it as a reduction in county revenue. The commission's decision means the county will collect more revenue than the previous year, making it a tax increase under state law. The county would need to roll back its general fund millage rate to 7.168 and fire fund millage rate to 2.643 mills to be revenue-neutral. Many residents expressed opposition to keeping the rate the same due to concerns about inflation and rising costs. The Cobb Board of Education sets its own millage rate separately, which was ratified by the commission. Story 6: brown The Boston Celtics and Jaylen Brown have agreed to a five-year, up to $304 million supermax extension, making it the richest deal in NBA history. Brown's excellent performance last season, including being named to the All-Star team and All-NBA Second Team, made him eligible for this extension. Despite some struggles in the playoffs, the Celtics' president, Brad Stevens, remained committed to Brown as a core part of the team. With the extension, Brown will be with the Celtics for the foreseeable future, providing them with a valuable building block. However, it may present roster-building challenges for the front office in the coming years. We'll be back in a moment Break: Drake- Elon- fern Story 7: LEAH-Food Guy And now, Leah McGrath of Ingles Markets joins our Bruce Jenkins to talk about sugar free items ***Leah*** ***Food Guy*** We're back with final thoughts after this Break: UMC 15 - Glover Park. - Henssler 60 Signoff- Thanks again for hanging out with us on today's Marietta Daily Journal podcast. #241 Guy and Aaron discuss how Aaron's work as a spiritual teacher has evolved over time. They talk about how he became a fitness model and then had a spiritual awakening. They also discuss how he started his YouTube channel and the response he has gotten from people. The conversation discuss the individual's journey from a devout Christian to a spiritual seeker. They speak about how, at 23 years old, they realized they no longer believed in Christianity and had to start their life over. This led to a deep depression and an intense period of spiritual seeking. This eventually led to a spiritual awakening experience. In the conversation, Aaron describes how growing up in a church that experienced supernatural miracles showed him that what he believed about God must be true. He also talks about how his view of God changed when he started working at a very fundamentalist church where he was taught that women were inferior to men and that everyone who didn't believe what they did was going to burn in hell. This led him to question his beliefs and ultimately decide that he didn't believe in this version of God. He became more interested in the Jesus of love and forgiveness and decided to quit his job and begin seeking a different path. About Aaron: Aaron Abke went to Oral Roberts University and got a Degree in Music and Theology. After that, I took my first job as a pastor as I prepared to follow in my father's footsteps and pursue a career in ministry.
