The L.A. based singer-songwriter Chase Bell asks the listeners of his newest song ‘Your Sky Has No Limit' to believe in themselves in the deepest sense yet again and be like a child; full of potential. In this empowering and uplifting song which boasts an anthemic chorus Chase starts each of the verses of the song with a negative scenario only to turn it all around and give the listener another moment of triumph. This is the first time Chase has released a song that confidently gives directions to the listener. The song chants phrases like, ‘keep your head held high,' and ‘point up to the stars,' which aren't so much as demands but are rather calls to the listener to put him or herself in a position of light. Listening to this song may lead to the listener believing in themselves again and seeing that their potential is truly endless, or in more poetic terminology that their sky has no limit. The artwork for the song ‘Your Sky Has No Limit' is certainly magical with both a night sky full of stars and a morning sky full of a brightening sun but the artistic messaging is clear; there is more to your sky then meets the eye. In the middle of the frame is the child who points to the stars and in that moment the stars themselves are brightened... According to Chase, the child represents the part of each and every one of us that is able to be guided, influenced, and taught new things in life. We must keep this child alive and well if we wish to recreate ourselves in this new world over and over again. Sonically speaking this song is a pop anthem and you can feel the drive at the first resonance of Chase's voice as he confidently speaks what he believes to be true...‘when life tries to bring you down, with just one song you can turn it around.' The song starts humbly with a consistent piano based groove and develops into the arena sized sounds of the chorus and by this time Chase is no longer speaking but singing loud and clear the lines, ‘Point up to the stars, you're going far, I see your sky has no limit.' Before the song was released in January 27th 2023, it had a debut performance in front of a crowd of over 50 thousand people at Eddy Kenzo's festival in Uganda in November 2022. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/steven-cuoco/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/steven-cuoco/support

Singer Eddy Kenzo who has some of the most notable international music awards is not among Uganda's Top 15 Artistes according to Rickman. Social media however attributes this to Kenzo appearing on the list of men that Rick's current girlfriend - Sheilah Gashumba has allegedly bedded.
Fatboy is what's poppin today! Without delay, Sarah puts Fatboy on the spot for his indirect comparison commentary of Singer Eddy Kenzo's 'new white bae' and ex lover, Singer Rema Namakula. ''Is it because she is Caucasian?''

What power do editors have in steering a writer’s career? What are the real value of winning literary prizes such as the Kwani! manuscript project? What challenges do African writers encounter when attempting to publish literary fiction that exclude the white gaze? Our guest Jennifer Nansubuga Mamukbi, award winning author whose novels include Kintu (pronounced ChinTu), The First Woman (published as A Girl Is A Body of Water in the USA), and the short Story collection, Manchester Happened (published as Let’s Tell This Story Properly in the USA) situate Ugandan mythology in the fictional narrative of historical and contemporary Ugandan experiences. We use the music of Miriam Makeba, Queen, Eddy Kenzo, Tracy Chapman, Krizbeatz x Teni and more to explore Makumbi’s experience of being published, the real value of winning the Kwani! manuscript project & how it defined her writing career, why writers must to invest in good editors, and we also discuss her response to that introductory essay to the USA edition of Kintu.

As part of a project connecting to Professor of Political Science Emily Paddon-Rhoads’ class on the Politics of Sub-Saharan Africa, several Swatties examine the role of music in Ugandan politics. Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has been in power for three decades and has pushed the presidential age limit. In this troubling context, musicians take varying degrees of political engagement but are all restricted in their methods of expression by the government. How have artists responded? Some completely avoid politics; some see artistic expression as a mode of social activism. A number of musicians sang for Museveni’s campaign. Others ran for office to create change from within the system. Ugandan pop music reflects the disturbing trends of Ugandan politics. This week on War News Radio, our reporters Ozsu Risvanoglu, Lea Slaugh, and Sally Wang, with the help of Lisa Kato and Seimi Park, will take you on a journey with the music of parliamentary musician Bobi Wine (also known as “The King of Ghetto”), top musician Eddy Kenzo, and human rights activist/musician Bana Mutibwa.
Today on Pulse, we focus on Chile which is battling with high HIV cases especially among the young people, we get to hear from Passy Mubalama on risks and challenges of being a young female blogger and activist in DRC, also you will get to know about the ongoing Sydney Film Festival all that plus some great music from Davido, Eddy Kenzo, Jason Derulo, and much more with your host Jane Nyingi.
