In the entrepreneurial journey, facing rejection is not just a possibility, but a certainty. However, it's the ability to perceive these rejections not as setbacks, but as stepping stones, that sets apart the most successful entrepreneurs. Each 'no' offers a unique opportunity to refine an idea, sharpen a pitch, and foster resilience. It can even be a sign that your idea is so contrarian that it could be truly transformative. This is a theory we've explored before on Masters of Scale. And now we're revisiting it in this special "Remix" episode. We'll hear a range of scale leaders share their strategies for weathering the chorus of no's, and see how doing so was a vital part of their scale journeys.Read a transcript of this episode: https://mastersofscale.comSubscribe to the Masters of Scale weekly newsletter: https://mastersofscale.com/subscribeSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Hi friends!! In this bonus mini episode, I'm sharing my thoughts on what it means to receive a no, and how to let it be something that moves you to the next level. We've all heard the saying, "Rejection is redirection." In life it's inevitable that we will be told no and things won't work out the way we hoped. I share how listening to your intuition can truly help guide you, and what is important to look out for when navigating through those times. Know that your mindset is beyond powerful and can really help you alchemize any situation into something that becomes part of your story, and is truly directing you on the right path. "You don't walk into an audition as an actor playing a part; you walk in as the character living the story."Christopher Adam Leroux is a former professional Major League Baseball pitcher and a radio and TV broadcaster from Canada. He played for the Florida Marlins, the Pittsburgh Pirates, The New York Yankees in MLB, and the Tokyo Yakult Swallows in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). Today's show presents slightly different dynamics inspired by a text Chris sent last week. The text reads: "(...) you should do a podcast with an actor or an actress starting out. Where they basically asked you all the questions they want to know on how to start out and become successful in the business."So, in this episode, we go through the process of becoming an actor and what it takes physically, psychologically, and mentally. How to be prepared for an audition, how to choose your wardrobe, and how to secure the part. We also discuss self-taping, why it is crucial, how to do it properly, and how much money is needed to create a piece that'll grab casting directors' attention. Today I'm going to discuss how to reprogram your cells with you. There are many factors that can affect our biology and ourselves, and this is just through your ideas. But today, I'm going to address your thoughts and how they affect your body, your energy field, and ultimately, how you express emotions in the outside world. A single thought we have has the power to alter our own vibration. And we may achieve this by reprogramming our thought patterns, which will enable us to alter our own vibration. Additionally, changing a pessimistic perspective to an optimistic one can have a profound impact on your body. “Shift how we are thinking and what we are thinking, because every thought carries that specific vibration that can reprogram the biochemical makeup of our body” How you can shift what you're thinking Every NO is a one step closer to your YES It's important that we start to program over those imprints with what it is that we do want Connect with me: Email: annamarie@happywholeyou.com / info@HappyWholeYou.com Website: www.happywholeyou.com / https://linktr.ee/happywholeyou Instagram: @happywholeyou Facebook: Happy Whole You LinkedIn: Anna Marie Frank Venmo: @happywholeyou

Collecting your noes has been an instrumental aspect of my work and my alignment in business today. I find that so many of us are so eager to always get a “yes” that we sometimes back out of anything that may not get us that answer. We fear getting the “no” – “No, we're not interested,” “No, you're not qualified,” “No, it won't work right now.” You know then noes I'm talking about! They zing you where it hurts and bring up those awful feelings of fear, abandonment, low self-worth, and self-doubt. And they're enough to stop you from taking a chance. But today, I'm going to give you five reasons you should ask anyway. In fact, I'm going to turn things on their head and encourage you to collect your noes. Why, you ask? They give you great perspective and they give you a way to ensure that what you're asking for you really, really want. So, here are five reasons to rack up those noes as you run towards what matters most to you at work and in life. Join me now.
In this episode Lucia and I talk about: (03:32) How Lucia started her business from scratch (09:54) The biggest misconception about network marketing (12:46) How network marketing builds wealth fast (17:23) Developing an entrepreneurial mindset (20:00) Exploring beyond the traditional path of success (21:50) How to adopt the right mindset for success (35:32) Network marketing versus traditional business (09:02) If we don't open our eyes to possibilities we are literally limiting our lives and we're so scared of judgment from people who are not contributing to our bank account, who are not contributing to our dreams (17:33) You can teach people how to market themselves, you can have the best product, you can teach them how to sell, how to talk but if their mindset and all of their limiting beliefs are still there, it won't work, it really won't work (18:19) This is how corporate will lose more to network marketing because they are not feeding their people. And the end of the day, people want to be their best, people want growth (24:35) Every No is one step closer to Yes (26:46) When you're living for other people's expectations, you're a slave. You are not in this world to be a slave. You are a free powerful being. You're here to do you, to be you and to provide your family and the world with the better you (45:58) Put the ego aside. Defining your personal boundaries and setting them consistently can be tricky territory! Boundaries are defined as a definite place where your responsibility ends and another person's begins. In this episode Becca & AMQ discuss their journeys in regards to building an understanding for boundaries, and how relationships (the ones meant to stay) will thrive when they're in place! Sometimes the misunderstanding of boundaries has us thinking of them as a way to keep people out, but really they're intended to be a beautiful way people can be in a relationship made up of mutual understanding and respect! The most important aspect of boundaries is communication; which is just what Becca & AMQ are here to do! Just when you thought the blowie talk was over...AMQ shares a story on how she learned what it all means! Confusing HS times, are we right? The convo escalated quickly when Becca dropped her mic, literally, and turned the audio into a mixtape of realness (whoops!) Press play on some girl talk about all things blowies, beat drops & boundaries! What a combo platter of a pod! Find yourself struggling with boundaries of your own? Don't trip chocolate chip! A couple of months ago I had Alexis Lete on my podcast. Alexis is Miss Indiana USA 2020, and she went on to finish 3rd Runner-up at the Miss USA competition! If you listened to the first interview you could tell Alexis and I hit it off. So you guessed it, we HAD to run it back! Where Alexis and I are at in our careers and the success we've had in pageantry is a direct reflection of this attitude. The best business ideas often seem laughable at first glance. So if you’re hearing a chorus of “no’s” – it may actually be a good sign. Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Airbnb – they all sounded crazy before they scaled spectacularly. So don’t be discouraged by rejection. Instead, learn to hear the nuance in the different kinds of “no.” That’s what Tristan Walker did. After stints at two successful startups, he launched out on his own with Walker & Company, makers of the Bevel razor – and learned to navigate the world of investors who may or may not share your vision.Read a transcript of this interview at: https://mastersofscale.com/tristan-walker-beauty-of-a-bad-idea/Subscribe to the Masters of Scale weekly newsletter at http://eepurl.com/dlirtX
Every No brings you closer to your yes!
Today, I’m excited to talk to you about the word ‘No’. My recent survey on Instagram revealed that a lot of folks in my audience have a hard time saying this small but mighty word. In today’s episode I begin by sharing my own experience with the inability to say ‘No’, what it can result in, and the role it plays in the habit of people pleasing. We’ll also look at the need to take care of yourself first, and differentiate between people pleasing and generosity. Mostly, though, together we’ll explore the 5 ways to practice and get comfortable with saying ‘No’ so that you can say ‘Yes’ to yourself, complete with examples from everyday life, and questions to ask yourself which will help immensely. If, like me, you’ve ever found yourself being afraid to say ‘No’, you really owe it to yourself to listen in today so that together we can work toward setting those boundaries that will allow you to take care of yourself and your goals and stop exhausting yourself by saying ‘Yes’ to everyone else. Remember, too, that if you need help keeping up momentum with your goals, setting boundaries, ensuring that you’re taking care of yourself, or even if you just want to chat, please feel free to send me an email at support@kellytravis.net or DM me at https://www.instagram.com/kellythealth/ or join my free FB group The Goal-Getter’s Club at https://www.facebook.com/groups/goalgettersclubkellythealth/ The Finer Details of This Episode: - Kelly’s experience with her inability to say ‘No’ - The results of being unable to say ‘No’ - People pleasing - Taking care of yourself first - The difference between people pleasing and generosity - 5 ways to practice and get comfortable with saying ‘No’ so that you can say ‘Yes’ to yourself - Questions to ask yourself Quotes: “I lived in this constant state of overwhelm, exhaustion, resentment, guilt, and the reason why is because I couldn’t say ‘No’.” “At a basic level a lot of this comes from people pleasing.” “This issue can be debilitating.” “People pleasers basically become subservient to others out of that desire for approval.” “There’s, like, no magic combination of words that is going to solve that problem.” “It’s like we’re protecting the other person.” “You’re going to be able to say ‘No’ in a calm way and with integrity when you know how you want to feel and what you want to believe.” “I was taught to replace ‘sorry’ with ‘thank you’.” “Every ‘No’ to someone else becomes a ‘Yes’ for your own goal or goals.” “We’re just getting super clear and focused on where we should be saying ‘No’ and where we should be saying ‘Yes’.” “”Practicing saying ‘No’ in small, like, unimportant situations, is super helpful.” “You’ve got to give yourself the opportunity to assess if this is something that is in alignment with what you want.” “Man, that brain fights dirty.” “I know how hard this is, but I also know how powerful it is.” Show Links: Have you joined my free Facebook community - The Goal-Getter’s Club? Just keep going.A real life story of someone telling me: "No."Hearing "no" is a part of life. You are unfortunately going to hear a lot of it when you are just starting out. Some people are not going to believe in you, and that's okay. Their belief is smaller than what you know you are capable of. Every NO makes room for the NEXT OPPORTUNITY.Live everyday to prove someone else wrong.
The Big Yes Behind Every No in Bo by Rabbi Daniel Kalish
May King Tsang, the #FOMO creator, joins me on my Idea Time - www.ideatime.co.uk - podcast to talk about events, Twitter and getting genuine engagement on social media. She shares how she creates buzz and excitement around events for delegates and people who are thinking about buying tickets in the future. May King started by live tweeting and then approached social media superstars and creatives Andrew and Pete to help them promote their Atomicon conference, to include Instagram and Facebook as well as Twitter. Her results spoke for themselves and since then she has been working with other influencers such as Janet Murray, for major festivals and more, making a quantifiable difference. Every ‘No’ is a Step Towards an Incredible ‘Yes’ We talk about pitching, the fear of hearing ‘no’, imposter syndrome and May King shares her tips on how to overcome it. She reflects on her successes and failures, her fear of rejection and now she believes that every no leads to the next, incredible yes. She bounced back from a short series of knock backs and has come back stronger. There is no failure, only learning and resilience is key when you’re growing a business, as is hanging out with like-minded souls. May King says that we are in business to make an impact, and that helps to not make any rejection or failure about you. Top Twitter Tips for Business May King’s top Twitter tip is to listen, engage and not to sell. Social media marketing has really changed how businesses need to approach sales, as customers now have greater power and more freedom to choose. It’s important to get involved in conversations, and really engage with chats and events rather than just spend time ‘lurking’. Also ‘documenting’ any events you attend, using the event hashtag, also leads to new contacts and opportunities. May King says that Twitter is possibly the most misunderstood of all the social media platforms, but if you create a list and focus on the people and themes that interest you, Twitter can be really useful for business. The #FOMO Process May King explains how she creates pre-FOMO as well as live FOMO for a podcast conference in the north, culminating in a movement and community of delegates, and amplifying the voices of the podcasters attending. Facebook groups featuring content such as delegate video interviews before the event help people to get to know each other in advance. On the event day itself, May King provides live interviews and social media coverage across different platforms. Her content is real, showcasing the real vibe rather than a polished, less authentic version of events. Writing a Book We give a shout out to Tim Lewis from Stoneham Press who has been mentoring May King in the creation of her book – from May King Mistakes, to May King it Happen, and discuss May King’s book-in-progress and the forthcoming launch of my Idea Time book. If you have any questions and want to get in touch with May King, you can contact her on any social platform - she’s May King Tsang or May King T and easy to find on Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook.

118 | Lindsay Cook Shares How Sales Success Requires Endless Persistent Follow Up Do you ever struggle with the endless persistence of follow up? Lindsay Cook is the co-founder and CEO of FitOn - a new digital fitness company that is redefining the workout experience with the ultimate platform for group fitness - anytime, anywhere. Cook has always been a proponent of fitting fitness into her life to help release the built up stress that came with being a mother and working long hours. When she realized that balancing such a busy lifestyle was a struggle that not only she faced, she knew something had to be done. That’s where the idea for FitOn came to be and in January of 2019 Cook introduced the world to the fitness app that provides on-demand fitness classes that fit the user's moods and locations at any given moment. Follow up feels endless, doesn’t it? One of the most surprising aspects of sales is how many people do not follow up. But, if you’ve been following me for ANY length of time, you know follow up is key! Investors, influencers, and consumers are constantly hit with opportunities and content - but when you personally follow up with them, you set yourself apart with the connections! But still, so many people do not follow up, because they are afraid. You’ve given your pitch, and you don’t have an immediate answer. Your business is on the line, you’ve got to figure out your investors, where the money is coming from, and who you will be working with. But the fear of the NO stops many people from following up. I like to think of it like this: when you follow up, you’ve got a 50/50 chance of a YES! But if you do not follow up, you have a 100% chance of a NO! Even worse: it wasn’t the person you pitched to that said NO: it was YOU who said NO to yourself when you didn’t follow up! This week’s guest on Success Unfiltered, Lindsay Cook, powered through the endless persistence of follow up as she created the FitOn App. When working with fitness influencers to help grow the workouts they had available on the app, she had to follow up endlessly - and the results have paid off! Are you ready to be inspired to learn the importance of the follow up? If so, this episode of Success Unfiltered is a MUST LISTEN! Be sure to join us next week for our next new episode! What Is The Number ONE Way People Miss Out On Sales? They ask for the sale once...and never ask again! Learn why FOLLOW UP is the key to making more sales and skyrocketing your income, and let me show you 7 ways to make the perfect follow-up game plan! Here are a few key secrets we talked about in this episode: Michelle introduces Lindsay Cook. Lindsay’s first major rejection was when she asked for a promotion at her company and was told to “wait her turn.” That rejection caused her to reflect on what she really wanted out of life, and what her priorities are: it caused her to join a small startup called FitBit! “I went from a learning curve that was pretty flat to honestly one of exponential growth because when you've got great business challenges you just learn how to do so many different skill sets that you haven't yet accomplished.” Turns out, that rejection was one of the best things that ever happened to her! It was the push that she needed to go pursue something new. In business, you have to get used to the “noise” - the day to day things that happen and that must be dealt with. Eventually, you get used to it, and you can actually focus on the important “noise” that matters. “The more people that tell others about your business for free, the better that you'll have the chance of really growing and getting people to use your product.” ~ Lindsay Cook Lindsay shares her tips for engagement and growing that audience. The first key is having evangelists for the product; the people who are actively using your product, loving it, and sharing it with others and spreading the word. Lindsay and her team actively engage with people who use the app frequently, and learn from them and use that feedback to improve the product. For those evangelists, it’s not about the money - it is about the connections! Social community is also key - getting notifications that your friend worked out encourages you to do the same thing! Focus on what will bring people back for more! Rejection is continuous: it doesn't go away. Lindsay’s toughest rejections came early on, when looking for fitness coaches to work with her on the app. She’d spent all the hard work creating it, and developing it, and then people said NO to her when it came time to request workouts from the fitness coaches! The key is to brush that off and keep on going! Often, a YES has a snowball effect, and brings more YES’s! Every NO made Lindsay’s vision stronger: she would evaluate why the person said NO, and make tweaks to make the business even better. Lindsay reached people by sharing her personal story, and her vision for something different. You just have to be endlessly persistent with people, and follow up! When you’re working with investors raising seed money, you almost have to oversell yourself, because if these investors don’t choose you, there’s going to be someone else walking in the door right behind you. Investors don’t just invest in the idea: they invest in the person behind the idea. Keep a list of your contacts that you’ve made, along with your status, and follow up constantly! Eventually, you’ll start to see wins populate on that spreadsheet as you follow up! Lindsay shares what she would tell her younger self. Every “No” and every “failure” is proof that you are still moving forward. No one reaches success on the first try, and most abandon the journey before reaching the prize... You however are a Leader... and while others may fail “period” and stop; you only fail “comma” and try again.

Failing is part of the process of achieving success, so is being told no along the way since every no we get brings us one step closer to a yes.
