Cecilia Lihv and Joe Funicello are the president and technical director of SoccerViza FC. SoccerViza is a brand synonymous with underdogs creating their own success. That has seen different forms throughout it's roughly 9 years of existence. It helped Sean and Dylan gain experience and exposure early in their careers, it made waves in youth football in Connecticut, and traveled the world helping talented, undiscovered players. Today its SoccerViza Futbol Club located in Talamanca, Limon Costa Rica. The mission, lead a team from the 3rd division to heights that many would call crazy. But that's a credit to Joe and Cecilia. Their goals and dreams aren't limited to what is expected or even what is considered possible. We have an amazing discussion about Ceilia's venture into football, being a woman in the industry, youth setups in the USA, choosing the right type of player, and the hurdles of setting up a club in Costa Rica. Hurdles like your field being set on fire and your buses tires being slashed. And that's just the beginning. We go everywhere with this talk. Shat the Movies: 80's & 90's Best Film Review

Bust out your surfboards and Stunned Mullets, we're going "Back to The Beach" with Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello! This 1987 parody of '60s movies packed in appearances from OJ Simpson, PeeWee Herman, the casts of "Leave It to Beaver" and "Gilligan's Island," Dick Dale, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the "two dollars" kid from "Better Off Dead."  This edition of Shat The Movies explores the importance of following through on threats, deal breakers in dating, Big D's mall walking, and East Coast vs West Coast beaches. Ash and Big D crush Gene's ideas on parenthood while revealing a fear of losing their identities as they age. Dick body-shames beachgoers and Gene explains why you should seek a partner you fear. Note: Gene survived a car accident 30 minutes before recording this podcast, then proceeded to down a double whiskey. ? - Johnny's Theme (?) "Johnny's Theme" began life as "Toot Sweet", a pop instrumental composed in 1959 by Paul Anka and recorded by Tutti's Trumpets. It was released on Disney's Buena Vista label as the B-side to The Camarata Strings' single "Lost In a Fog". "Tutti" Camarata, who was Annette Funicello's producer at the time, asked Anka to write some songs for Funicello's first album to follow her work on The Mickey Mouse Club. Anka added lyrics to "Toot Sweet" and published them under the title "It's Really Love", and the song was released as part of Annette Sings Anka. He recorded his own version of "It's Really Love" that same year for the French film Faibles Femmes; it was released on seven-inch EPs in France, Italy and Spain. Cake and the Mighty Panthers, Redding toured the Southern United States on the Chitlin' Circuit, a string of venues that were hospitable to African-American entertainers during the era of racial segregation, which lasted into the early 1960s. Johnny Jenkins left the band to become the featured artist with the Pinetoppers. Around this time, Redding met Phil Walden, the future founder of the recording company Phil Walden and Associates, and later Bobby Smith, who ran the small label Confederate Records. He signed with Confederate and recorded his second single, "Shout Bamalama" (a rewrite of "Gamma Lamma") and "Fat Girl", together with his band Otis and the Shooters. ? - Groupie (?)  Dan Lewis and Gilbert Neal - Cat Scratch Fever (1983?)  The Norman Luboff Choir - I Just Want To Make Love To You (1965) The Brooklyn Bridge - Down By The River (1970) Up With People - John David Sebastian Smith (1970) Sam Samudio - 15 Degrees Capricorn ASC (1971) Ayatollah Let 'Em Go (?) Our honorees in this podcast all played a role on the rock, pop, country, or bluegrass hit music charts after they made their names in Hollywood movies and TV shows. Some of them could sing as well or maybe even better than they could act. Others just thought they could carry a tune, but were so delightfully wrong, wrong, wrong! Our cast of actors who also rocked includes movie and television tough guys, lovely leading ladies, precocious adolescents, talented teens, and comedians who could seriously sing. And we’ll identify the first actor to become a rock and roll superstar. Our resident “Rare & Scratchy Rock ‘N Roll” rockologist, Ken Deutsch will be along to explain how we came up with our list and also award some honorable mentions to selected actors and actresses who didn’t make our final cut.

RARE & SCRATCHY ROCK 'N ROLL CELEBRATES THE HISTORY OF THE MONKEES This episode spotlights a rock and roll act composed of actors who were hired for a television series about a make-believe band. But they became real-life pop icons. Their 45s and LPs sold millions, thanks to songs written just for them by some of the top songwriters of the late 1960s. And leading studio musicians were instrumental to their initial success because this group wasn’t allowed to play on their own songs. At least not at first. Then this foursome banded together as one to take control of its own destiny so the group could produce and play on its own platters. Together they made memorable music, even while their personal differences about how to make music were driving them apart. Hear about their connections to the Beatles, Paul Revere & The Raiders, Harry Nilsson, Tommy Boyce & Bobby Hart, Neil Diamond, Gerry Goffin & Carole King, Jack Nicholson, Annette Funicello, and Frank Zappa...and a whole lot more (did you expect less?). Fifty years after its founding, this group still has a loyal world-wide following. Hey, hey, they’re the Monkees. And we’re "monkee-ing" around with all their hit singles, choice album cuts, and their solo successes, too.

A few weeks ago, we previewed the Collecting Disney auction with Mike Van Eaton from Van Eaton Galleries. This past weekend, over 700 items of Disney history and memorabilia went under the hammer at this successful auction event. Two of those items were a sweater and a pair of mouse ears that belonged to Disney Legend Annette Funicello. Proceeds from the sale of those items went to benefit the Annette Funicello Research Fund for Neurological Diseases. Annette founded the Research Fund in 1993 to research the cause, treatment and cure of Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological diseases. In 1987, Annette had been diagnosed with MS, a chronic and often debilitating disease that attacks the central nervous system. Annette had the most severe type of MS, which eventually left her unable to walk or to speak. In 2013, Annette passed away at the age of 70 from the complications of MS. Her legacy, however, will always be that of an actress, singer and eternal Mouseketeer. At the age of 12, Annette was the last child cast for Walt Disney's original Mickey Mouse Club TV series in 1955. Fueled by her talent, good looks and girl-next-door charm, Annette's popularity quickly skyrocketed, and soon she was receiving more than 6,000 fan letters per month—an astounding figure in a pre-Internet age. She appeared in numerous other Disney TV and movie projects, including Zorro, The Shaggy Dog and Babes in Toyland. In the mid-1960s, her Disney contract behind her, she appeared in a series of popular “Beach” movies with singer Frankie Avalon. In 1965, Annette married talent agent and casting director Jack Gilardi, gradually distancing herself from show business to raise a family. The couple divorced in 1981. In 1986, Annette married her long-time friend, rancher and horse-trainer Glen Holt, who I'm happy to say is with us today in the Lounge. Glen was married to Annette until her death and helped care for her throughout her illness. Theirs is a story of great love, friendship and courage in the face of adversity. Also joining us today is Dave Mason, the director of development with the Annette Funicello Research Fund. Prior to the Van Eaton Galleries Disney auction, the three of us talked about how Annette's personal items are benefitting the Research Fund, but most importantly, we talked about Annette herself: her life, legacy and place as one of Disney's most iconic stars. We're remembering Annette Funicello today in The Mouse Castle Lounge. Enjoy! www.TheMouseCastle.comRSS Feed: http://themousecastle.libsyn.com/rss

Bobby Burgess has spent over sixty years in show business, getting his big start in 1955 as an original Mouseketeer in "The Mickey Mouse Club." In 1961, he would begin a 21-year run as a dancer on "The Lawrence Welk Show." Bobby's new book, "Ears & Bubbles" recounts his many years in entertainment. In "The Mouse Castle Lounge" today, Bobby talks about his book and shares special memories of working with Walt Disney, Annette Funicello and Lawrence Welk. www.TheMouseCastle.com

Jambeaux, everyone!!! Welcome to another episode of Magic Our Way. We are back with a somewhat NEW format of the show. Well, we really did not add anything new; we just consolidated one segment into the other two. It is thoroughly explained in the show. So, for this week in the Queue, we discuss the Annette Funicello’s life, the sequel to the Finding Nemo movie entitled Finding Dory, and I give you heads up on some auditions happening in the coming weeks in case you want to be part of the magic. In the Hub segment, we discuss how not to feel underwhelmed at Disneyland. This topic is specifically aimed at Walt Disney World people who have yet to make their pilgrimage to our “Mecca”, Disneyland, and are thinking about going or planning to go there in the near future. Yeah, it’s smaller, so what!!! That’s one of the reasons Mr. Disney came out to Florida was to have a bigger canvas. But, there is still so much magic available to you in that resort. As always, if you like the show, please rate us and leave a review in the iTunes Store. We do appreciate you taking the time to do so. Also, you can find us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter (@magicourway). Find some of our video statuses on Keek.com. If you have any suggestions or comments for the show, please do not hesitate to contact us at magicourway@gmail.com. We will be sure to read your email on the air, unless you tell us not to. We do want to hear from our fans and we want you to be part of our discussion.  Thanks again for listening to us. We do realize that you have many choices when it comes to Disney podcasts and we appreciate your attention. When the show stops, please step out to your left. As always, have a happy day!!!
