Seasons Greetings! Last week we took a look at how the holiday season unfolds at Disneyland during the day with attraction overlays, holiday shows and festive decorations. We now look at how the Disneyland Resort comes to life in even brighter and more amazing ways at night. At Disneyland we check out how Sleeping Beauty's Castle transforms into winter enchantment. We check out the Christmas Fantasy Parade, as well as holiday shows at "it's a small world" and in Tomorrowland. Fireworks and snowflakes on Main Street? We'll see, but we'll also go to Disney California Adventure and see the holiday decor there, attraction overlays and a big finale in World of Color: Season of Light Holiday show. There is so much to Christmas nighttime magic at Disneyland. Disney Vacation Planning Just Got a Little EasierMaybe it should have been there from the very start, but after years of having to jump through hoops with Disney World and Disneyland vacation planning, Disney is finally implementing a change that will make trip planning a little easier for guests. This story, plus Disney Aulani news and a Christmas 2023 Disneyland update. The Big Changes for How You Can Book Your Advanced Dining at Disneyland and Walt Disney WorldAfter many years of frustration that caused guests to jump through hoops and juggle plans around Disney dining, Disney if finally making it much more efficient to book dining reservations. The new updates include: The Ability to See and Pick from All Available Reservation Slots (not just three): We shouldn't be so excited for something that should have been there all along, but now all available dining reservation slots will show up for your selected dining location and timeframe on the Disneyland website/Disneyland app and on the Walt Disney World website/My Disney Experience app.  Reservation Slots Sorted by Meal Period: Reservation availability will be sorted by meal period so you can see which menu is being served during the time of your reservation. This is most important around the transition time periods, for example if you're booking 4:00 p.m. you'll see if they're still serving lunch or starting on the dinner menu. These updates will roll out in phases across the website and iOS and Android platforms.--Disney Aulani Refurbishment Update: Ka Maka Pool and GrottoIf you're heading to Disney Aulani Hawaii this October, this is important news. The Ka Maka Pool and Grotto, including Ka Maka whirlpool spa, will be closed from October 9 - 28, 2023 for refurbishment. This is a showpiece pool so it will be missed by guests visiting at this time.Resort pools and water features that will be open include the Waikolohe Pool and Stream, the two water slides, multiple whirlpool spas, Keiki Cove splash zone, and the Wailana Pool. --2023 Disneyland Resort Holiday Season Dates and Details RevealedThe Holidays dates for Disneyland Resort this year will be November 10, 2023, through January 7, 2024. Here is what's happening including the celebrations, décor, entertainment and more for this year's Christmas and holiday season.Cultural Celebrations in Disney California Adventure Park with Disney Festival of HolidaysThe Disney Festival of Holidays draws inspiration from a wide range of global holiday celebrations, including Christmas, Navidad, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day. Enjoy new treats and returning favorite food and beverage items at the Disney Festival of Holidays marketplaces and get into the spirit of it all with music and dance performances at the Palisades Stage, Sonoma Terrace and for the first time, in the Hollywood Backlot. Plus, you can dance along as Disney and Pixar characters march to the beat of the Holiday Toy Drummers in “Mickey's Happy Holidays.”The Sip and Savor Pass is back and offers eight entitlement tabs that can be redeemed for select food and non-alcoholic beverages from several marketplaces and participating dining locations in Disney California Adventure. Each Sip and Savor Pass is valid for the entire of Disney Festival of Holidays and can be shared among friends and family, so your whole group can sample dishes together this season.Disney ¡Viva Navidad! is back at the Paradise Gardens Park for its 10th season. This year, you can taste your way through an all-new menu at Paradise Garden Grill. The Three Caballeros will host a joyous street party, featuring Mexican folklórico dancers and mariachis, Brazilian samba dancers and percussionists, giant mojiganga puppets and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their holiday best. Additional festivities in this area will include live music and dancing, visits with more Disney characters and special appearances by Mirabel from Encanto. Festive Décor and Attractions Across Disneyland ResortAnchored by Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle, adorned with icicles and snow-capped turrets as a must see, also be sure to visit the oversize gingerbread house at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. If you like Christmas trees with uniquely themed ornaments, there will be plenty to see in both parks, Downtown Disney District, Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Disneyland Hotel. And since it's the Christmas holiday season, you may just see a little Disney magic “snow” falling nightly in select areas of Disneyland park. And that's not all: ornaments, lights and more will also embellish favorite attractions that get a special holiday overlay. In Disneyland, you'll be serenaded with choruses of jolly tunes on the wintry waterway of “it's a small world” Holiday, and Jack Skellington redecorates the Haunted Mansion as usual, transforming it into the frightfully festive Haunted Mansion Holiday -- this year with a new haunted gingerbread house. Plus, Santa Claus will be there too and available to pose for jolly photos around Disneyland Resort through December 24.For merry entertainment, Disneyland Park offers “A Christmas Fantasy Parade” starring characters from Frozen, Toy Story and more. In the evening, watch for the “Believe…In Holiday Magic” nighttime spectacular, which will light up the night sky with fireworks and sprinklings of snow. At Disney California Adventure, World of Color – Season of Light will fill Paradise Bay with the holiday spirit as hundreds of fountains illustrate warm moments from Disney animated films.Downtown Disney isn't just for holiday shopping, you can also groove to a variety of seasonal live musical performances on select evenings at the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage. News: Some major changes are coming to Mickey's ToonTown in 2023 with the opening of Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. Josh D'Amaro announced at the IAAPA theme park expo in Orlando that the land would close in March of 2022 to make the changes. The only confirmed information is that there will be a reimagining of the entrance to the land, adding a couple of green spaces for parents and children to relax and play together. The current ToonTown park will expand into CenTOONial Park. It appears that the Jolly Trolley and tracks will be removed and replaced with a new fountain. The concept art also seems to show changes to Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin, and possibly even another entrance to Galaxy's Edge. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/11/mickeys-toontown-at-disneyland-park-to-be-reimagined-with-new-experiences-and-more-play-and-interactivity-for-young-families-in-2023/ and https://www.micechat.com/307775-disneylands-toontown-closing-in-2022-for-enhancements/ The holidays at the Disneyland Resort kicked off this past Friday. News: Walt Disney World has offered after hours Christmas parties for a few years now, and this year Disneyland is getting in on the game! Disney Merriest Nites at Disneyland Park is a new, seperate ticketed event, taking place over five nights through November and early December. Tickets start at $165 per person and give access to 6 parties put on by Minnie Mouse, snow moments on Main Street, an appearance from Santa Claus, admission to Disneyland starting at 5pm, A Christmas Fantasy Parade, attractions excluding Toontown, Critter Country and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, photo ops, characters, treats, and of course merchandise. For complete details and to get tickets, visit the link in the show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/celebrate-the-holiday-season-in-a-merry-new-way-with-disney-merriest-nites-an-all-new-after-hours-event-at-disneyland-park/ For those listeners going to the Oogie Boogie Bash and looking forward to the new villains, we have the locations! Agatha Harkness from WandaVision has set up in the Ancient Sanctum in Avenger's Campus. Sid from Toy Story has set up a sideshow circus, called “The Sid Show Circus” on Pixar Pier in the stage area formerly used by the Pixar Philharmonic. Rounding out the new villains is Cruella DeVille, who is putting on a fashion show in the Hollywood Backlot. – https://www.micechat.com/301430-new-characters-bewitch-the-oogie-boogie-cast-preview/ A fun detail has returned to Cars Land. The ofrenda for Doc Hudson is back this year near Ramone's House of Body Art. The setup looks very much like the memorial setup that was in Cars 2. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/09/12/whats-new-at-disneyland-resort-a-huge-edible-halloween-display-a-new-avengers-campus-character-and-spooky-treats/ The edible Oogie Boogie sculpture in the Grand Californian has returned to the lobby this year. Near the display is a coffee cart that has been setup to offer drinks and some treats (and to encourage guests not to eat the display!). – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ Once again, the Haunted Mansion Holiday has received its centerpiece of the Gingerbread House in the ballroom scene. We have talked about the hundreds of pounds of ingredients, hours and hours of work to bring it to life and more. This week, we got a look at how the gingerbread house is moved into the Mansion and assembled for guests to see. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/celebrate-20-seasons-of-spook-tacular-fun-with-the-haunted-mansion-holiday-gingerbread-house-at-disneyland-park/ As with every good Disney event, there is new merchandise for Oogie Boogie Bash! A set of pins for this years event featuring different villains, as well as a tumbler donning the Oogie Boogie Bash 2021 logo. – https://www.micechat.com/237070-oogie-boogie-bash-halloween-party-disneyland-resort/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/09/photos-new-vampire-tow-mater-straw-clip-cruises-into-disney-california-adventure-for-halloween/ This Thursday, September 16th, the Carnation Cafe will finally reopen to guests! When it reopens, it will serve breakfast and lunch from 8am to 2pm daily. For those of you who have not dined at this location, it is a great place to take in Main Street and people watch while you get some good food. – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ New Orleans Square has almost completely returned to normal after the scrims in the area have finally come down. The area looks great now, with just one scrim still up in front of Le Bat en Rouge. Hopefully this will also result in the Royal Street Veranda reopening soon. – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ Now that the Magic Key Program has been in effect for a couple of weeks, how has this impacted the crowd levels of the parks? Weekdays are delightful, with low waits for attraction and comfortable crowds walking around. In the evenings, more locals are coming in after work to catch the Halloween Screams show. On weekends, they have been busier, but not back to the levels of pre-covid. Overall, it is a great time to visit the parks, especially when compared to what it was like before the shutdown. – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/09/photos-new-magic-key-popcorn-bucket-available-at-disneyland-resort/ A change has come to the virtual queue system for Rise of the Resistance and Web Slingers. Guests can login to the Disneyland app and confirm their boarding party up to one hour before the virtual queue opens. This cuts down on the time to secure a place in the queue right at opening. This is a welcome change to the system. Hopefully, Web Slingers and Rise will phase out the virtual queue system sooner than later. – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ Some great news for those looking forward to igniting the night again soon. The fountains and infrastructure around Tom Sawyer Island that supports Fantasmic! has been under refurbishment! The area around the water jets have been drained and work is being performed. Hopefully this means that a return of the popular nighttime show is not far off! – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ Guests arriving to the Mickey and Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures are sometimes surprised that the parking lot trams are still not back, requiring a long walk to the front gates. Some are opting to park over in the Toy Story parking lot, which has busses that will drop guests off closer to the gates. The busses that are in use are small, and do not currently have air conditioning. – https://www.micechat.com/301811-disneyland-update-holiday-humbugs-hopeful-happenings/ This week, the Tenaya Stone Spa in Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa officially opens! The Disney Parks Blog posted all the details of the story and design elements of the new spa. The inspiration for the spa comes from the spirit of nature, indigenous cultures of California, and the Craftsman design of the hotel itself. One of the unique details is the tree root chandelier, which looks like the roots of a tree are growing through the ceiling. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/09/interior-design-elements-tell-the-story-of-new-tenaya-stone-spa-at-disneyland-resort/ Discussion Topic: Emmie – Infants and Toddlers in the Parks Toddler Friendly Attractions Map – https://cdn1.parksmedia.wdprapps.disney.com/dam/disneyland/preschool/disney-family-toddler-friendly-attractions.pdf Feedback: Hi Tage & Teresa! I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated the recent episode on food allergies in the parks.  As a mother of a child with severe tree nut & peanut allergies it is a subject near and dear to my heart.  While food labeling and safety measures in places like schools are improving greatly from when I was a kid, I always appreciate raising awareness in the general population.  I, like all of your listeners, love the Disney parks and love them even more for the care they take in providing safe and magical experiences for all of their guests- allergic guests and all. Towards the end of the episode you and asked Ellie about general resources for people to use in regards to food allergies.  I think this is so important because whether you or a loved one suffers form good allergies or not, if your child goes to school you will probably have to send allergy safe snacks/treats at some point.  I've relied on: https://snacksafely.com/ They have a snack safe guide that breaks down popular brands and products you find in any grocery store and marks whether they are safe for all of the 8 different food allergies.  They also include information on allergen labeling and whether products were made in a facility with major allergens or not if cross contamination is a concern.  You can download the snack guide, and they update the information periodically as manufacturing processes change over time, and it takes them to contact the manufacturers and research their cleaning/labeling practices. Thanks again for your thoughtful discussion topics that help us realize all the amazing resources we can take advantage of in the Disney parks! Whitney Nolden

From the Main Entrance turnstiles with pumpkin versions of the “Fab 5” to minor decorations in the shops on Main Street, there is the presence of the season. Over in Disney California Adventure, all the bunting has been hung, and the headless horseman has taken up his place on Buena Vista Street. The bats are also back in the belfry of Carthay Circle. – https://www.micechat.com/300767-disneyland-update-whats-this-its-halloween-time-and-so-much-more/ and https://www.micechat.com/300769-disneyland-resort-update-part-2-conjuring-a-treat/ The Plaza de la Familia in Paradise Gardens has been transformed for the season. Coco decorations are everywhere in this part of the park. A lot of photo ops are available, including Dante in his dog form. There are crafts for the kids, and some Mexican food is on the menu at the Paradise Garden Grill. This years version is a metallic red and is available at the Red Rose Taverne for $16.99, with choice of a drink or fries. The Fruit Stand on Buena Vista Street also has the mug, without the fries option. A new Mickey Mummy Popcorn bucket arrived at the resort for $20.50. A new Halloween photo op has replaced the previous mural at the former ESPN Zone building. – https://www.micechat.com/300769-disneyland-resort-update-part-2-conjuring-a-treat/ It isn't even Halloween yet and the Disneyland Resort is already planning for Holiday Magic! From November 12th through January 9th the seasonal offerings of Holiday Magic will be available throughout the resort. This includes Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle, and the 60-foot Christmas tree on Main Street. A Christmas Fantasy Parade will also return, along with Believe… in Holiday Magic fireworks, and it's a small world Holiday. Over at Disney California Adventure, The Festival of the Holidays is back celebrating the diversity of the holidays. Disney Viva Navidad! is a fun street party will join festive food and beverages throughout the park. Luigi's Joy to the Whirl and Mater's Jingle Jamboree are also back. There is a mobile order stand outside of Marceline's Confectionery, on Buena Vista Street at Trolley Treats, and at the Candy Palace on Main Street. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/09/01/3-more-disneyland-snack-spots-are-now-on-mobile-order/ A brand new seating area is coming to the Rivers of America. Pelican's Landing is the name of the new area near the rafts to Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island. The area stretches from the raft loading dock all the way to Harbor Galley. No opening date for this area, but it shouldn't be too long. – https://www.micechat.com/300767-disneyland-update-whats-this-its-halloween-time-and-so-much-more/ An iconic store on Main Street has permanently closed. The Main Street Photo Supply that has sold camera film, batteries, and provided PhotoPass services closed last week. The PhotoPass services have moved to the esplanade in front of ticket booth 3 for now, with the plan to relocate to the old newsstand at the front of the park in the future. No word on what will move into this location. – https://www.micechat.com/300767-disneyland-update-whats-this-its-halloween-time-and-so-much-more/ Fans of the character shoulder pets have a new seasonal option. A Zero shoulder plus is now on sale for $19.99. What is unique about this version is that Zero lights up! There is a light in his nose, and in his body. This is a great addition to the shoulder Porgs and Baby Groot, and this one can go trick-or-treating with you! – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/09/photos-new-the-nightmare-before-christmas-zero-shoulder-plush-appears-at-disneyland-resort/ Feedback Hi you guys, loved this weeks discussion topic since I have celiac disease and must eat gluten free. Disneyland does an amazing job and I always find great food. Just wanted to throw out another tip if people ask, the special diets phone number currently doesn't work but you can email special.diets@disneyland.com and they answered my questions and I was actually able to pre order gluten free Monte Cristo sandwiches 2 weeks before our reservation at Blue Bayou. And when we got there our waitress already knew our order it was wonderful!  ❤️ Monica

(((HEADPHONES STRONGLY RECOMMENDED))) This episode, the Mouse Lounge gets in the Christmas spirit, Disney style First, in From the Vault, we dust off an old radio recording of Walt and his gang of cartoon characters circa 1934.  You’ve never heard Donald Duck more irascible or the Three Little Pigs repressible, despite the Big Bad Wolf’s insistence that they, come over for dinner.  My wife was shocked to hear this sequence, commenting, “I’m so used to hearing Walt when he was older and had smoked for so many years.  I can believe this voice could be Mickey Mouse.  He was a tenor when he was a young man!”  Indeed he was. Next, we journey to the Disney properties and take in live performances.  You’ll go into the now long gone Adventurers Club, visit Yehaa Bob, hear the Daper Dans, DCA’s Miner 49’ers, The Jambalaya Jazz Band, and Billy Hill and the Hillbillies. Then, we take a spot in the shadow between the Matterhorn and Sleeping Beauty Castle to watch, A Christmas Fantasy Parade.  This is a special Mouse Lounge Mix. Finally, as has become a Christmas tradition on the Mouse Lounge, I’ll play for you some of my personal Christmas favorites.  They may not be Disney, but they’re sure to get you into the spirit of the season! And now, ladies and gentlemen, the tree is trimmed, the egg nog is out, and there’s a warm fire in the fireplace.  Sit back and enjoy Mouse Lounge Christmas tidings… Gary Chambers (805) 270-5785 The Mouse Lounge http://www.mouselounge.com Subscribe to our write a review about the Mouse Lounge Podcast: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=180696323   The Mouse Lounge is a fan-based podcast and is not affiliated with the Walt Disney Company or its subsidiaries.  Non factual statements made by the Mouse Lounge hosts, Gary Chambers and his guests are their current opinions only and are subject to change without notice.  All copyrighted material used with permission or under the Fair Use Doctrine in Section 107 of the United States Copyright Act.  Although the information in this program is believed to be reliable, Mr. Chambers, and Mouselounge.com do not make any representations or warranties as to its accuracy or completeness, nor do they assess, verify or guarantee the suitability of information.

Feature - A fun article to talk about5 Things Disneyland has over Disneyworldhttp://blogs.ocweekly.com/navelgazing/2011/11/five_things_disneyland_has_ove.php Tip of the WeekCandy cane time again If your holiday tradition includes a trip to Disneyland for one of its famous fresh-made candy canes, here are the dates and details you'll need to start making plans for 2011. The first batch of fresh candy canes will be made at the Candy Palace on Main Street, U.S.A. on November 30. The candy cane schedule usually begins the day after Thanksgiving, but with an early holiday this year the park seems to be waiting a week, but adding an extra day in December. The full schedule is:Wednesday, November 30Friday, December 2Tuesday, December 6Friday, December 9Monday, December 12Friday, December 16Wednesday, December 21 Last year the candy canes cost $9.95 each, and were limited to two per person. We expect pricing and limits to be similar this year. Disneyland usually makes two—sometimes three—batches a day, but the number of candy canes in each batch can vary based in temperature and humidity. The typical batch yields fewer than 90 canes. If Disneyland follows the normal operating pattern, tickets will be distributed at the Candy Palace at park opening each day, with the first batch of candy canes usually available to purchase about one hour after the official park opening time. The second and third batches are usually ready 90-minutes to two hours apart. Twitter Daniel @disgeekpodcast Tommy @tommypixPaul @disgeekpaul Email us at- podcast@disgeek.com Call us at 661 450-8290.
