We start with a Racket Rundown talking through the victories of Daniil Medvedev, Flavio Cobolli, and Peyton Stearns. Then we dive into breaking news out of Dubai, where over 40 ATP players and staff—including Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev—found themselves hunkered down in a hotel waiting for airspace to open. Our 2025 season wrap-up episode is here. Friend of the pod Tumaini Carayol joins us to go through some of the news that broke since we were last on – Christopher Eubanks announcing his retirement and Jannik Sinner winning in Turin again. We look back at the Grand Slams and share our highlights from each one. There were some memorable matches as well as moments at all of them, but it feels like the French Open topped the lot. Madison Keys, Coco Gauff, Jasmine Paolini, Taylor Townsend, Naomi Osaka, Ben Shelton, Gabriel Diallo and Arthur Fils (before injury) all had great seasons. Victoria Mboko's incredible ascent up the rankings was really something to witness. So was Félix Auger-Aliassime's resurgence. We close with what we're looking forward to next year and some outlandish takes for 2026. (PS: studio time was running short, apologies!) Thanks for tapping in with us this year, we appreciate you all. Don't forget to rate, review and share on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Audioboom. Victoria Mboko, the Queen of Canadian Tennis, closed out 2025 in style winning her second title of the year in Hong Kong. The 19-year-old Canadian saw off Filipina Alexandra Eala and countrywoman Leylah Fernandez en route. Mboko, who started the year ranked 333 in the world, is now at a career high 18. The WTA Finals are well under way in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Defending champion Coco Gauff fell to Jessica Pegula in her opening match in the Stefanie Graf group. As did Jasmine Paolini, against Aryna Sabalenka. Gauff versus Paolini is now a must-win match for both. Madison Keys, playing for the first time since the US Open, is also in action. The Australian Open champion is in the Serena Williams group alongside Iga Swiatek, Amanda Anisimova and Elena Rybakina. In the doubles event, Paolini and Sara Errani are the top seeds in the Martina Navratilova group alongside debutant Asia Muhammad and Demi Schuurs. Second seeds Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova are in the Liezel Huber group. Félix Auger-Aliassime played himself into an ATP Finals spot with his run to the Paris Masters final. The 25-year-old Canadian, who currently occupies the eighth and final place in the Race to Turin, lost to Jannik Sinner in Sunday's championship match. Sinner returns to No 1 in the world. World No 6 Ben Shelton also qualified for Turin following his run in Paris where he lost to eventual champion Sinner in the quarter-finals. To close, we share our thoughts on the ATP adding a 10th Masters event to the calendar from 2028.
The post-US Open stretch is always a little strange. Case in point, Lleyton Hewitt was suspended for two weeks because he pushed an anti-doping official last year(?!). Taylor Townsend squandered a lot of good will after she mocked Chinese cuisine (though she swiftly apologized). The Italian dynasty captures their 6th BJK Cup title via Paolini, Cocciaretto, and Errani heroics. Plus, we issue a … clarification(?) of our comments on the USTA last episode, discuss the Canada-Israel tie, and tackle the allegedly imminent Kyrgios-Sabalenka “battle of the sexes.” 1:50 A retraction/clarification on our USTA crashout 6:20 We read the Lleyton Hewitt v. Catherine, David and Matt are here to look back on all four quarter-finals at the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Shenzhen and ahead to the semis. Part one - Italy d. China 2-0 & Ukraine d. Spain 2-0. We discuss the remarkably similar comebacks pulled off by Elisabetta Cocciaretto and Jasmine Paolini for Italy, ponder whether Yuan Yue and Wang Xinyu choked for China, and praise the brilliant Ukrainian team. Can Marta Kostyuk and Elina Svitolina get it done in the singles for Ukraine against Italy? And what will they do if that tie goes to the doubles? Part two - USA d. Kazakhstan 2-1 & GB d. Japan 2-0 (from 30m31s). We cover the way in which USA came through despite strong performances from Yulia Putintseva and Elena Rybakina for Kazakhstan, the comments made by Taylor Townsend online mocking Chinese food and her subsequent apology, and whether Great Britain stand any chance of progressing through to the final despite a dominant win against Japan. “It's been so gratifying, not just the accolades but how I've been able to show up. Learning how to love myself, learning what my voice is, and being able to trust that, stand tall and stand true in that it's enough.” Taylor Townsend on evolving Taylor Townsend Joins The Pivot Podcast for an exclusive, deeply personal and powerful conversation after her 2025 US Open breakthrough. Days after captivating fans with her deep run and emotional performances at the 2025 US Open, American tennis star Taylor sat down with Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder for one of the most heartfelt and unfiltered interviews in the show's recent history. The episode opens with the hosts giving Townsend her flowers, celebrating not just her performance on the court—where she reached the fourth round in electrifying fashion—but also her unapologetic authenticity, her resilience, and her long road back to center stage. From the jump, Townsend came through with that signature mix of grace and grit. “I've started setting goals and not being afraid of failure...I finally get to be myself and not hide from who I am,” Townsend said, reflecting on her resurgence. Over the course of the hour-long conversation, Townsend opened up about her heated post-match altercation with Jelena Ostapenko, breaking her silence and addressing the viral moment head-on, being proud that she used her words to control her emotions and how she stood firm on not tolerating disrespect, as her father raised them not to be punks but also to always stand up for themselves which led Taylor to telling Jelena- “Don't ever put your finger in my face again." Taylor continues to open up with her childhood dreams, looking up to Serena and Venus and how despite being competitors, Serena took her under wing when she was pregnant and helped prepare her for this gratifying yet extremely difficult journey. Her battles with body image and bias in the sport, especially how early narratives in her career tried to box her in and tell her she could never excel in a sport that wouldn't accept her certain stature and build. Sharing how she lost 95 pounds in 10 months coming back after pregnancy but that motherhood and identity have impacted her life in meaningful ways. Revealing intimate details about balancing elite competition with raising her son, Adyn, which she credits to teaching her what true love and sacrifice is as she opens up on the mental side of her journey, including moments of doubt, therapy, and the role of her support system. One of the most powerful moments came near the end, when Townsend addressed she's been on the pro tour for 13 years and been hiding for twelve of them and is now finally able to show up as herself.Taylor points to her recent loss as her most pivotal moment, in a place where her career is going to skyrocket, with her confidence, faith and motivation higher than ever. The conversation flowed like family catching up, as Taylor made the joke she felt like she was sitting with her uncles with Channing bringing the laughs, Ryan dropping wisdom, and Fred reflecting on what it means to carry a legacy in a sport that hasn't always been built for athletes like Townsend. The episode has a lot to unpack, filled with many viral moments, drawing praise from across the sports world for Townsend's honesty, charisma, and unshakable sense of self. Now it all comes down to Samoa (and some serious math). Over at the US Open, we binged hours of tennis and fell head over heels for Taylor Townsend's grit and game. Plus, Naomi Osaka is back in full force, powering past Coco Gauff on her way to the quarterfinals. And in the WNBA, the Rookie of the Year and MVP races are heating up fast. Hear our predictions based on all the stats on who we think takes the crown. If you rate Women's Sports Weekly 5 stars, send a screenshot and you will receive a sticker!SUBSCRIBE TO WOMEN'S SPORTS WEEKLY YouTubeSpotifyApple Podcasts FOLLOW WOMEN'S SPORTS WEEKLY ON SOCIALInstagramTikTokCONTACT WomensSportsWeeklyPod@gmail.com Women's Sports Weekly is created, produced, edited, and hosted by Carolyn Bryan and Danielle Bryan. Send us a textEver notice how Black women are expected to win quietly? In this powerful return episode, I dive into the recent tennis court confrontation between Taylor Townsend and Jelena Ostapenko that perfectly captures what many of us experience daily – being told we're "low class" or "uneducated" when we succeed, then being praised for our composure when we don't react to blatant disrespect. The tennis incident serves as a mirror to workplace dynamics where Black women face impossible standards. We're expected to take on additional responsibilities without complaint or compensation, to dim our light when it shines too brightly, and to apologise for achievements that would be celebrated in others. I share personal experiences of being shamed for displaying success or enjoying luxury items – what I now recognise as the systematic policing of Black joy, a pattern so pervasive it deserves to be studied as a psychological phenomenon.I'm thrilled to announce my new venture, Sister Scribble – a stationery brand celebrating Black creativity through vibrant, 90s hip-hop inspired designs. After finding conventional stationery boring and disconnected from my experience, I've created a line that honors our voices and cultural heritage while providing tools for creative expression. The Origin Edit launches in October 2025, coinciding with UK Black History Month. The episode also tackles current events including immigration policies, the weaponisation of national symbols, and how Christianity is sometimes used to create hierarchies among women based on marital status. I close with strategic advice for a listener facing the all-too-common dilemma of being asked to take on senior responsibilities without appropriate recognition or compensation.Ready to stop apologising for your success? Listen now, and remember: you are not here to be manageable. Your wins are only threatening to fragile egos – to the rest of us, they're testimony.Referenced in podcast:On Becoming by Toke Makinwahttps://www.amazon.co.uk/Becoming-Toke-Makinwa-ebook/dp/B01NAAEILQ/ref=sr_1_1?crid=22QOYVTIK8XAJ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.I2kHpBBav2v9SW3ObtJCNw.dR98_87UWyYR5SicIjHVRdapL-tOgl9Zf3WzsDxrtzY&dib_tag=se&keywords=toke+makinwa&qid=1756854169&sprefix=toke+makinwa%2Caps%2C111&sr=8-1Sponsorships - Email me: hello@toyatalks.com Cc: toyawashington10@gmail.comTikTok: toya_washington Twitter: @toya_w (#ToyaTalksPodcast) Snapchat: @toyawashington Instagram: @toya_washington & @toya_talks www.toyatalks.comhttps://toyatalks.com/Music (Intro and Outro) Written and created by Nomadic Star Stationary Company - Instagram @sistahscribble Website: www.sistahscribble.com COMING SOON....

Football is BACK — and so are the hot takes, high stakes, and headline drama. Ryan, Channing and Fred break it all down in this unfiltered episode, where the Pivot keeps it real, even when it may be unpopular opinion or pointing the finger back at one of us! From the NFL kicking off with big energy to college ball having us amped to Charlamagne and Ciara clapping back at the world calling Russell Wilson “lame,” with Channing doubling down on his words that he said when this first all started. The guys weigh in on that situation as well as Ray Lewis stirring the pot with his thoughts on Shannon Sharpe, their longstanding bond — and how maybe speaking up on where others fall short isn't the right move, when people have come up short themselves. We get into the Sanders family, as things seem to be a little rocky with a lot of change Deion and sons continue to navigate public scrutiny, media firestorms and family pressures being in the spotlight. And we have varying viewpoints about Arch Manning's college debut — is he truly the future, or just carrying a name? Ryan gives a unique perspective that we never realized. In other sports, we talk tennis as Taylor Townsend's on-court flare-ups raise questions about emotion, pressure, and performance… and we spotlight a female athlete turning to OnlyFans to fund her tennis dream — is it empowerment, desperation, or both? We also break down the top NFL storylines to watch this season, the pivotal points that could define teams and careers, and the personal pivots that remind us all: growth isn't always pretty and easy, but it's necessary. In "Serving Aces" Alexandra Stevenson and Hugues Laverdiere discuss week one at the US Open. Alexandra brings up Taylor Townsend's breakout run and the outburst from her opponent, Ostapenko after the match. Alexandra tells Ougi that she thinks Ostapenko was trying to take down Townsend because of her lack of traditional etiquette on the court. Townsend is known for warming up at the net and big celebrations that annoy some of the more staid players - though Ostapenko is far from staid. Alexandra and Ougi talk about other players who ruffled feathers in a big way during the first week at the Open. Alexandra and Ougi picked the final four for the Open. Newsy notes finds Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce engaged - and Texas' young quarterback Arch Manning having a not so good day against Ohio State.
Round 3 of the US Open had everything: injuries, drama, and plenty of star power in the stands. We dig into Ben Shelton's tough setback, Sinner's tricky test against Shapo, Alcaraz's dominant run, and Taylor Fritz quietly holding strong. And yes, we even get into the celeb scene, from Russell Wilson and LL Cool J courtside to who didn't quite make the “celebrity cut.” On the women's side, Coco Gauff bounced back after a shaky start, while Taylor Townsend kept the drama rolling. Now all eyes are on the blockbuster clash between Gauff and Naomi Osaka, a matchup that could help define the tournament. We wrap with some chatter on tennis's unwritten rules (do you really have to apologize for a let cord?), a few fan habits that drive us crazy, and an update on our bracket standings… let's just say not everyone's thrilled. 00:00 Introduction and Welcome 00:34 Celebrity Sightings at the US Open 01:56 Ben Shelton's Injury and Perspective 03:37 Jannik Sinner's Performance 05:21 Carlos Alcaraz and His Impressive Run 06:13 Taylor Fritz's Match Recap 07:02 Novak Djokovic's So Far 11:06 Round of 16 Popcorn Matches 13:06 Women's Draw Highlights 13:49 Coco Gauff's Performance So Far 14:34 Taylor Townsend's Impressive Run 19:28 Unwritten Rules of Tennis and Fan Annoyances 20:54 Bracket Updates and Episode Wrap-Up

Part three - Taylor Townsend's thrilling win over Mirra Andreeva and the Day 7 order of play (1:02:24).Tickets are now on General Sale for The Tennis Podcast - Live in Wrexham on Wednesday October 22nd! C-Lo provides an update, mentioning Evan Roberts' admiration for Nolan McLean and playing a Philadelphia radio host's rant resembling Jerry's classic rants. Cody Bellinger hit one of the Yankees' 6 home runs in their 11-2 thrashing of the Nationals. C-Lo shares clips of Taylor Townsend clarifying her showdown with Jelena Ostapenko. Tom Brady can attend production meetings but not practices, which Jerry thinks won't affect his job, though Willie understands why some broadcasters like watching practice. Jordon Hudson and Bill Belichick want to trademark "gold digger." The hour concludes with Jerry recounting his night at a Lady Gaga concert, noting the presence of many gay men, and Willie's past experience in an unwelcome establishment.
