Rein moest om zichzelf (‘en het proces') te beschermen terugtreden uit de vorige synode, Cees-Jan zat bij de laatste overleggen op het puntje van zijn stoel. Natuurlijk, ze voelen verdriet. En boosheid. Want waarom lukt het nu niet om de ander te vinden in de intens verdeelde CGK? En vooral: wanneer gaat de synode nu eens inhoudelijk praten, in plaats van alleen maar procedureel? I've long said Republicans were unserious about addressing shortcomings in our immigration situation because they spend way more time seeking to demonize migrant (you know, "illegals") and not the real "illegals" (employers & human traffickers) menacing (in some cases abusing, exploiting, threatning and even killing) well-meaning migrant laborers.A recent sentencing of a human trafficking kingpin (queen pin?) shows the American judicial system is unserious about the very serious crimes committed.Nor are Republicans serious about the well-being of outdoor laborers - even those here legally and/or American citizens - in the face of rising temperatures.Take Florida, for example. WhileJoe Biden rolled out new OSHA standards,some Republicans just want to get rid of OSHA altogether.In Georgia, there's a bipartisan effort, at least, to create a state-run guest worker program that would be "subject to federal rules and regulations." Except again, some Republicans want OSHA to go away, so what rules and regulations will protect these workers?- - - - -Mitch McConnell has become a more reliable swing vote for Democrats than Susan Collins or Lisa Murkowski. Let that sink in. Still, asMitch takes to the Louisville press to opine about the dangers of Trump's tariff-heavy economic policy, I simply want to remind him - and his Kentucky constituents - he's the single-most complicit person to pin a second Trump presidency on other than Donald Trump himself. Now he, his constituents, and all of us, are finding out.The'60 Minutes' interview a few weeks backwas (in my view) a failed attempt at Mitch trying to re-cast himself for legacy's sake.

Hugh was introducing his girlfriend Barbi Benton's new album. It was a wild party. Beside Barbi Benton, Elton John was there so I had very little time to visit with Hefner. In that couple of minutes he explained how he put together his first Playboy Magazine cover, featuring Marilyn Monroe.

"Instead of the Mahi-Mahi, can I get just one Mahi, because I'm not that hungry?" We watched "The House Bunny", from 2008, with our friend Justin Allison and we want to pledge Zeta! The early aughts were a time the Playboy brand was definitely having a moment and Anna Faris and the filmmakers really capitalized on the wave Hef and the bunnies were riding. Mall stores were marketing the bunny to children, "The Girls Next Door" were riding high on E! and "The House Bunny" had us cackling. We may take a few detours to remember Holly, Bridget and Kendra, but we promise it's all to serve our conversation of this movie. Anna Faris herself channeled Bridget's look (and some mannerisms) in her portrayel of Shelley, the down on her luck Playmate in search of meaning in her life. Anna sets the comedic bar very high in this one and everyone in this cast is really pulling off the comedy. Early outings from double oscar winner Emma Stone and Kat Dennings really show off their comedic talents and all the Zetas are so much fun to watch. The gang at Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions really pull off a "girl's comedy" without punching down - which is refreshing coming from such a bro-centric group. You can tell they were really just about finding the funny and for us - they found it.
