Lesson 255This Day I Choose To Spend In Perfect Peace. It does not seem to me that I can choose to have but peace today. And yet, my God assures me that His Son is like Himself. Let me this day have faith in Him Who says I am God's Son. And let the peace I choose be mine today bear witness to the truth of what He says. God's Son can have no cares, and must remain forever in the peace of Heaven. In His Name, I give today to finding what my Father wills for me, accepting it as mine, and giving it to all my Father's Sons, along with me.And so, my Father, would I pass this day with You. Your Son has not forgotten You. The peace You gave him still is in his mind, and it is there I choose to spend today.- Jesus Christ in ACIM

Join Pastor Megan as we delve into the series "In His Name," focused on John 17, where Jesus' prayer to His Father showcases the importance of living and acting in His name. In a world full of popular quotes, discernment is crucial to ensure that whatever we are quoting is in alignment with God's Word. Ephesians 4:14 and 2 Timothy 4:3 caution us as believers against being swayed by teachings that lack truth - even if they are a great sounding quote.Words are powerful, they are capable of both uplifting and causing harm to others, as Proverbs 12:18 shows us. We need to remember that as representatives of God, our speech carries weight and that is why it's necessary to be mindful of what we say, read, or quote. Jesus' teachings provide a blueprint on how to align our words with His. He provides us with a guide on how to be mindful of our actions and speech.Jesus was wise and His wisdom shines through His commands, such as loving God and others wholeheartedly. We can rest assured that when we model our lives after Him, we will live lives full of wisdom. Jesus's ways went far beyond speech, and if we do so then even our lives will be changed and transformed - our demeanor and response to challenges in life will also be transformed. Therefore as we continue to walk in His name, the book of Colossians 4:5-6 encourages us to be gracious with our speech so that we may reflect Christ's character. Its not easy but through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, may our speech mirror the love and truth of Jesus Christ. May He be the one to guide our actions and interactions as we strive to represent Him faithfully.
Today's Passage: Romans 12:10Today's Prayer: Father in Heaven, the God of all glory and honor. Worthy of all worship and praise. You are the God who has bestowed your honor and glory upon your people. Through the person and work of your Son, Jesus Christ, who now resides in us through the Holy Spirit, we are agents of your grace and temples of your glory. What a privilege and joy! We ask that you'd make us people who see the ways your glory is at work in those around us. To be people who call out and honor the ways you're making others more like your Son. To be people who really do outdo one another in showing honor. We need your help to do this. Holy Spirit, we cry out asking for the power necessary to faithfully live this Gospel implication out. We are powerless apart from your presence. Help us be a people, a Church of honor in a world of shame and criticism. To reflect your beauty and glory to a watching world. To live in a way that makes your Gospel even more attractive. We simply want more of what you have for us. We simply long to be more like Jesus. In His Name we pray. For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever…AMEN.NOTES & LINKS:21 Days of Prayer and Fasting WebsitePDF Guide to Prayer & FastingAs part of the 21 days, we're committing to 21 days of 24/7 prayer. In His Name finds us looking at the #redeemer and #Lord working among those in #Israel at the time of #Hisrevealing to the masses. He performed #miracles the likes of which had never been seen in Israel. As the #Romans kept the #peace and worked the streets to keep #justice, the #LordofLords was working among them. These Romans never knew the division that occurred when the #SonofGod arrived. While the people saw the unbelievable #miracles, the Pharisees and the contingent from the temple worked to destroy him. This illustrates the work of both #Righteousness and of #Darkness as the two #Kingdoms met head on in a battle over the #soulsofmen in #Jerusalem. In the end, the Lord overcame all #principalities and #powers. The #Kingdom of the #Light of our #God and #Father and our #LordJesus, #Yeshua was the #Eternalhope for all people. #InHisName

In the final sermon in the "In His Name" series, Pastor Joe presents us with a final thought: We have a choice. We can choose who guides our life, whether we use the power and authority given to us, whether or not we combat the unbelief in our hearts, and whether or not we put on the armor of God.
In His Name, the Exalted, the All-Highest, the Most Sublime! Glorified art Thou, O Lord my God! O Thou Who art my God, and my Master, and my Lord, and my Support, and my Hope, and my Refuge, and my Light. I ask of Thee, by Thy Hidden and Treasured Name, that none knoweth save Thine own Self, to protect the bearer of this Tablet from every calamity and pestilence, and from every wicked man and woman; from the evil of the evil-doers, and from the scheming of the unbelievers. Preserve him, moreover, O my God, from every pain and vexation, O Thou Who holdest in Thy hand the empire of all things. Thou, truly, art powerful over all things. Thou doest as Thou willest, and ordainest as Thou pleasest. O Thou King of Kings! O Thou kind Lord! O Thou Source of ancient bounty, of grace, of generosity and bestowal! O Thou Healer of sicknesses! O Thou Sufficer of needs! O Thou Light of Light! O Thou Light above all Lights! O Thou Revealer of every Manifestation! O Thou the Compassionate! O Thou the Merciful! Do Thou have mercy upon the bearer of this Tablet, through Thy most great mercy and Thine abundant grace, O Thou the Gracious, Thou the Bounteous. Guard him, moreover, through Thy protection, from whatsoever his heart and mind may find repugnant. Of those endued with power, Thou, verily, art the most powerful. The Glory of God rest upon thee, O thou rising sun! Do thou testify unto that which God hath testified of His own Self, that there is none other God besides Him, the Almighty, the Best-Beloved. This is a beautiful, powerful hymn that we are so excited to be diving into. We sang this as kids in our church and we can remember having so much fun with it. The tune is bouncy and peppy and just FUN to sing. Examining the hymn all these years later, so much of the meaning was lost on us as kids. The Name of Jesus never fails. No wonder Paul said whatever you do in speech or deed, do all in the Name of the Lord Jesus. To do all things in the Name of Jesus doesn't mean that when you want to clean your shoes or floor, for example, you say, “I clean these shoes in the Name of Jesus,” or “I wipe this floor in Jesus' Name”; no! What it means is that you're to live your life in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. In all situations and circumstances, your life proclaims the Name of Jesus Christ; you live as His representative. You live your life every day in and with the consciousness of the power, glory and dominion of His Name. When you do this, you won't struggle with some health troubles; your life will be an unending stream of blessings and the supernatural. You'll have no consciousness of need, because the power and glory of His Name make all things right with you, for you, and in you. The question is, “How do you live in His Name and as His representative?” It's simple; first, become conscious of His life in you. 1 John 5:11 says, “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” This life is both death-proof and disease-proof! Secondly, never live in fear. Live in boldness. The Bible says, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love” (1 John 4:18). If before now, you were always attacked by fear, from now on, say, “I refuse to fear. I live in boldness, in the Name of Jesus.” It makes no difference what you face in life; in His Name, you're a victor; you're triumphant forever. In His Name, you live above circumstances and the perils of this world. His Name is a strong tower; you were born into it, to live therein. Hallelujah! Have this consciousness. CONFESSION Dear Father, I thank you for the power and blessing of living in the Name of Jesus. In His Name, I live triumphantly, over and above circumstances and the perils of this world. I live in perpetual peace, prosperity, health, success and greatness, to the glory of the Father. Hallelujah! FURTHER STUDY: Matthew 28:18-19 (KJV) And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Colossians 3:17 (AMPC) And whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him. Luke 10:19 (AMPC) Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you. 1-YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN Ephesians 4:1-16 & Isaiah 23-24 2-YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN 2 Timothy 2:11-26 & Jeremiah 45 To give towards sponsoring free copies please kindly click the below link https://buy.stripe.com/bIYcOj8vQepC3eM6op
This day I choose to spend in perfect peace. In His Name, I give today to finding what my Father wills for me, accepting it as mine, and giving it to all my Father's Sons, along with me. And so, my Father, would I pass this day with You. We are grateful for these opportunities! You can hear our other LIVE episodes when we talked about I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day on episode 46 and then again, on episode 55 with Beneath the Cross of Jesus. The Scripture passage for today's episode is Philippians 3:1-11.Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is no trouble to me and is safe for you.Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh—though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law, blameless. But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.If you'd like more information about our church, please check out our website: First Baptist Church, Reading. If you'd like to watch this episode as a video, please head over to our YouTube channel: Hymn Talk Twin Talk YouTube ChannelWe are available for speaking engagements. At the mention of the Name of Jesus, the Bible says every knee should bow. This is the sovereign decree of Almighty God; it's a law in the spirit-realm. When the Name of Jesus is called, everyone submits to it in heaven, in the earth, and under the earth. It's impossible to resist the power of His Name. This is the Name He gave us to live by. The Bible says, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus…” (Colossians 3:17). Do you know what this means? Many people pray in the Name of Jesus; but for some, it's just a religious observation or rite. Some don't even believe, but they pray in His Name anyway. For those of us who believe in Him, the Bible says in Mark 16:17-18, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Hallelujah! Imagine all that we can do in His Name. Isn't this amazing? In His Name, you can cast out demons; if any deadly thing enters your system, it won't hurt you. In His Name, we heal the sick, cleanse the lepers and raise the dead. The Bible says, “oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength! All this energy issues from Christ: God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever” (Ephesians 1:19-21 MSG). He gave us so much authority so we can fix things in our world. He gave us His Name so that we can use it to dominate and influence this world for His glory and establish His righteousness in all the earth, and we're at it. Blessed be God! PRAYER Dear Father, thank you for giving me the Name of Jesus to live by and function with in the earth. When I make requests in that Name, they're granted; this takes the limits off life. I can do all things and become as successful as I desire because I've been given the Name of Jesus to live by. Hallelujah! FURTHER STUDY: Acts 4:9-12 (KJV) 9 If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. 11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Colossians 3:17 (KJV) And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV) 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 1-YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN Acts 6:1-15 & 2 Chronicles 26-28 2-YEAR BIBLE READING PLAN 2 Corinthians 4:7-18 & Isaiah 2 To give towards sponsoring free copies please kindly click the below link https://buy.stripe.com/bIYcOj8vQepC3eM6op

Daily Lectionary: Leviticus 18:1-7, 20-19:8; Luke 11:1-13 "Father, hallowed be your name. . . " (Luke 11:2b) In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. God gives His Holy Name to us. A Name that is above all names. A Name that is more than just an identification. His Name is set apart from all other names and clarifies who He is and what He has done. In our world today, names bring identity to individuals and have become symbols of success. Families have names that are passed down from generation to generation. Companies have names, and with those names come branding and marketing logos. Schools are given names and mascots of those schools are given names, too. Everything has a name.God's Name is unique. His Name brings comfort that no other name on earth can bring. His Name is holy, not because we make it holy but because He declares it to be holy. In our sinfulness we loathe His Holy Name. We use it frivolously and toss it around as some insignificant name. We use His Name to deride, to curse, to swear, to lie, to deceive. We take His Holy Name and cast it among the names of other false gods and equate the value of His Name with their names. In the end, we really want nothing to do with His Name.It is God who wants something to do with you. In His unfathomable love for you, He has called you by name. In your Baptism, the Name of the Triune God was given to you. In His Name and with the waters of Baptism you were washed and cleansed with the forgiveness of sins. You received the sign of the cross both upon your forehead and upon your heart to mark you as one redeemed by Christ the crucified. The benefits of His death and resurrection are yours through Baptism. As you are sent into this world you carry His Name upon you. He takes you and equips and enables you to serve in the vocations that He has created. He has prepared you for His glorious return when every knee shall bow and every mouth confess His Holy Name. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. At the name of Jesus Ev'ry knee shall bow Ev'ry tongue confess Him King of glory now, 'Tis the Father's pleasure We should call Him Lord, Who from the beginning Was the mighty word. Show Notes Early in my research I kept coming across the same name: Daniel K. Williams. As I was using key terms in searches for research, article after article with his name on it popped up. I cited two different articles as well as his book God's Own Party in the research paper element of my thesis. And our conversation was really influential in providing greater detail for some of the bigger ideas and topics I was working on. I interviewed Daniel K. Williams two different times for In His Name in February of 2021. Williams is a professor at West Georgia University and author of lots of books on the Christian Right. There's a lot of name dropping and tangents in this conversation. If you need more context or a guide to get into your own rabbit holes on this subject, be sure to follow along with the Substack. Our theme song is "Apophenia" courtesy of Ross Christopher. If you aren't yet, follow me on Twitter.
Show Notes In 2008, I voted in my very first election. I didn't quite realize how much of an impact the Pro-Life voting bloc played into Republican politics at the time. For a political party that was so opposed to abortion, why didn't George Bush do anything about it in his 8 years in office? Or his father? Or Ronald Reagan? I interviewed Randall Balmer for In His Name in February of 2021, who helps answer some of those questions. Balmer is a professor at Dartmouth College, a prolific author, and maybe one of the nicest guys I've ever chatted with.
Show Notes The first interview I conducted for In His Name was with Yale University professor of sociology and religious studies Phil Gorski. As you'll notice with much of this series, we get in the weeds. If you need more context or a guide to get into your own rabbit holes on this subject, be sure to follow along with the Substack. Our theme song is "Apophenia" courtesy of Ross Christopher.
