This week's guest Jamie Fisher decided that life at 715 pounds was not really living at all, just existing, and he began his journey to find the right tools to help him thrive! We speak of his use of high fat keto, weight loss surgery and GLP-1 medication, not because any one tool failed but because Jamie had to use them together when needed to fight this battle, not just for himself but for his family. You have almost certainly heard Nicholas Britell's music, even if you don't know his name. More than any other contemporary composer, he appears to have the whole of music history at his command, shifting easily between vocabularies, often in the same film. His most arresting scores tend to fuse both ends of his musical education. “Succession” is 18th-century court music married to heart-pounding beats; “Moonlight” chops and screws a classical piano-and-violin duet as if it's a Three 6 Mafia track.Britell's C.V. reads like the setup for a comedy flick: a Harvard-educated, world-class pianist who studied psychology and once played in a moderately successful hip-hop band, who wound up managing portfolios on Wall Street. That is until he started scoring movies, and quickly acquired Academy Award nominations.“What I've found in the past,” said Jon Burlingame, a film-music historian, “is that people have found it impossible to incorporate such modern musical forms as hip-hop into dramatic underscore for films. When Nick did it in ‘Moonlight,' I was frankly stunned. I didn't think it was possible.”This story was written by Jamie Fisher and recorded by Audm. Prudence is joined this week by researcher and writer Jamie Fisher. Together they take on questions about whether or not to visit a close platonic friend that makes their partner jealous, how to talk to my partner about the fact that sex might be off the table, what can I do to deal with my fiance’s family (and their dogs) who don’t take seriously my trauma from a childhood dog attack, and how to find peace and joy when dating has proven unsuccessful. Burgeoning Leeds label LS City Records has made an already solid start to its life with a number of solid releases, some top support and good sales behind them, but the ambition of imprint boss Jamie Fisher has not yet been quelled. As a result, he is to release the first in a new series of compilations entitled Rising Stars. The name says it all really but, to be sure, here’s Jamie to explain the idea behind the album... “’Rising Stars: Volume’ 1 will feature break through artists who we really expect to see big things from in the not too distant future. However, it will also feature new tracks from established big hitters like Richard Dinsdale [who has released many a club smash on labels such as Toolroom, Nervous, Global Underground, Juicy Music, CR2 and Sunday Best] and Lissat & Voltaxx [responsible for remixing Roger Sanchez and for releasing on Alex Kenji’s label already this year, as well as on MOS previously]. We believe in giving people who have got genuine talent a real opportunity and by pitting them alongside more well known acts we are happy to expose them to a wider audience. Hopefully we can then go on to nurture these talents and take them in a positive direction.” With tracks, as Jamie mentions, from the likes of Richard Dinsdale and Lissat & Voltaxx, as well as from the boss himself, alongside respected young things like Aspin & Dipace and Luke Pompey as well as the odd new unknown – there are doubtlessly more than one or two Beatport chart toppers amongst the house and tech gems on offer. Jamie Andrew swam more than two miles, cycled 112 miles and ran a marathon in just under 24 hours. The 37-year old from Edinburgh, dubbed "Titanium Man" because of his prosthetic legs, hopes the challenge will raise £50,000. It is in aid of the 500 miles charity, which he has launched with fellow quadruple amputee Olivia Giles. The Iron Man triathlon is considered one of the toughest feats of athletic endurance for able-bodied athletes. It started with a dawn dip in Loch Tay, followed by a cycle from Kenmore to Falkirk, and finished with a 26.2 mile run down the Union Canal to Edinburgh.Project funding Mr Andrew began the gruelling event at about 0600 BST on Saturday and completed the challenge the following morning. He lost his hands and feet following a climbing expedition in the French Alps in 1999 in which his friend, Jamie Fisher, died. Here’s his Charities: 500 miles High 5 Robert Ritchie sent through this weeks High 5: The importance of getting early treatment for injuries. There’s some great insight here. Thanks Robert. 1. Early treatment will prevent more serious complications. 2. It will be cheaper to get treated straight up 3. Less lost training time while you recover. 4.
