The WIP Afternoon Show is officially planting its flag on one candidate in the OC race: current Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter. Will you join the Afternoon Show in backing Cooter as the next Eagles offensive coordinator?
In Hour 3, the WIP Afternoon Show officially plants its flag on Jim Bob Cooter as the next offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles. Plus, callers weigh in with their thoughts on the OC search and the hiring process overall.
Proud to say it. Went round the horn on this one. Did ALL FOUR Philadelphia sports teams and we liked it. What kinda era are we in? Championship / near championship? Or just typical Philly "almost got there" sorta second/third place vibes?Gosh, I don't know the answer to these questions, but we certainly tried on Hoagie Mouth. First up it's the Phillies as the off-season starts to come into full focus. We did what we did, are we done? How much of this is "runnin it back" / definition of insanity or is it the RIGHT CREW to get us over the hump? Welp, pitchers and catchers in like 3.5 weeks in Florida chums.Next it's the Eagles and their search for an OC. As time marches on, the pickings get more slim. But will it be Jim Bob Cooter in the end? Feels like a Dukes of Hazzard episode. In hindsight, that show didn't age well. Then it's the Sixers who are giving off "maybe we're friends MAYBE we're more than that" energy and it's hard to know where we stand. Big win in OT last night and JoJo nets a trip dub. Let's see if "sustainable" is in the cards.Lastly, the Flyers GOTTA get it together. Lost the last one after being up 3-0 in the second. WTF. As the trade deadline approaches, let's think defensemen and a #2 goalie. Yup, we got goalie problems again.Email: hoagiemouthpod@gmail.comIG: @hoagiemouthpod

Week 2 is in the books: -Eagles defend their Super Bowl -Steelers have major defensive issues against Seattle -Are the Texans still going to win the AFC South? -Lamar and Josh Allen separated themselves into a QB class of their own? -Justin Herbert for MVP? -Week 3 picks
Xavien Howard signs with Colts! Does he have one more good season in him? Jim Bob Cooter doesn't say who is going to start at QB. Maybe he didn't have to! Joe Flacco will start for the Browns over Shadeur, Pickett, and Gabriel! Spencer Shrader has won kicker gig, which was never in doubt! The Indianapolis Colts need to do some soul searching after the loss to the New York Giants. Jim Irsay wants to continue to keep the team in the family. Chis Ballard probably will be fired, but will it change anything? Is Shane Steichen the right guy to be the head coach? Steichen's response to Pat McAfee's comments on the organization was a bad look. It takes a certain leadership to reign in players coming out of college today. Colts need a new culture, because money is more important than the team winning games. There is a difference between 'keeping it in house', and lying to media and fans. Why is Carlie Irsay on the sidelines, instead of in a box like other owners? What is Jim-Bob Cooter's job as an Offensive Coordinator in this regime?
Anthony Richardson may start Sunday, but Jim Bob Cooter was a little more vague about his prospects today than Steichen yesterday. Colts schedule gives reason for hope - and the schedule is the reason why I still believe the Bears are a 7-10 team. Myles Turner ranked 81st among NBA players which seems just about right. Jerry Jones is not the owner of Audacy Media despite trying to sound like he is earlier today when he came after the morning hosts on 105.3 the Fan in Dallas. https://mybookie.website/joinwithKENT Promocode: KENT Buying or selling a home in Indy - Call Sean Hartwick - (317) 373-3724 Here is the link for my book: https://www.amazon.com/Oops-Art-Learning-Mistakes-Adventures/dp/173420740X Learn more about your ad choices. Joe Flacco - uh, no! This is Anthony Richardson's offense, and he needs the reps, work, and improvement. Jim Bob Cooter gives an answer to the JT 4th quarter absence that makes a little sense. David Mamet has provided a lot of answers, so we turn to him again to try to figure out how to fix the Colts. https://mybookie.website/joinwithKENT Promocode: KENT Buying or selling a home in Indy - Call Sean Hartwick - (317) 373-3724 Here is the link for my book: https://www.amazon.com/Oops-Art-Learning-Mistakes-Adventures/dp/173420740X Learn more about your ad choices. What and ending to an abysmal second half of the season. The Eagles go down in flames and lose to the Tampa Bay Bucs during Super Wildcard Weekend 32-9 (Scoring 9 points is just ridiculous)!!!!! There are so may questions but here is what we know now: -Sirianni is returning (set to address the media on 1/24 with Roseman) -Desai is OUT (fired by Sirianni) -Patricia is OUT (contract not renewed) -Brian Johnson won't be returning (I found this out after recording) -Riverboat Ron Rivera is interviewing for DC -possible links to Wink Martindale and Denard Wilson for the DC opening (reports) -Jim Bob Cooter could possibly become the OC (yuck) What bothers me is the lack of urgency about this entire situation. There is so much that needs to be done and it seems like the Eagles are taking their time. With Sirianni returning, I'm not sure how much faith I have in the organization to fix it!!! In hour two of this Thursday edition of The Morning Shift, Tiffany Blackmon, Robb Tribble, filling in for Mike Johnson, and Beau kick things off by spending some time with Atlanta Falcons Linebackers Coach Frank Bush! Tiffany, Robb, Beau, and Coach Bush discuss if he has to have the dishwasher loaded a certain way, winning a state title with local Georgia High School Clarke Central back in the day, why the late great Vince Dooley didn't recruit him to Georgia, if the injuries on the defensive line changes anything the linebackers do, Nate Landman and how he's been able to be so successful filling in for Troy Andersen, it being difficult for the team to keep their hopes up and keep their morale up because of human nature, but the team having the right mindset, how Colts Offensive Coordinator, Jim-Bob Cooter, is going to try and attack the Falcons defense, staying disciplined against a quarterback like Gardner Minshew that can extend plays with his legs, why teams have started to play smaller linebackers and who was the innovator of that, and why the defense has been so good at shutting down the opposing offenses screen game.
The Colts are already at the win total, many had them for the season. Losing Anthony Richardson for the season sucked. It makes the play calling more predictable. Is Shane Steichen using the tight ends most effectively? The Indianapolis Colts offense is top 10 in the NFL, and is respectable. Should Steichen hand off the play calling to Jim Bob Cooter? How big has injuries/suspensions impacted the team, compared to the rest of the NFL? Is coaching or the front office to blame for the lack of 'next man up'? The Colts worked out Sammy Watkins. Was Howard Mudd or Dante Scarnecchia the best offensive line coach? Goal is to win the Super Bowl. Expectation was an up and down season. Gus Bradley was not Shane Steichen's guy. The Defensive Coordinator might change after the season.
Gardner Minshew is not the athlete Anthony Richardson is - but can he overcome physical limits with his big brain understanding of Shane Steichen's offense. This defense and offense for the Indianapolis Colts is different from years past. Offensive coordinator: Jim-Bob Cooter talks about how opening the playing is going to be fun this week. The Colts coaches won't be overanalyzing Anthony Richardson this season. Planning on team wins. Sometimes you have to win ugly low scoring games defensively. Defensive Coordinator: Gus Bradley say's he believes his young defense is ready for the season. Using the Jacksonville Jaguars as a measuring stick to find out where the defense is. Trust in your teammates is so important in the defensive secondary. Turnovers need to be a big focus for this young defense this season. The Colts coaches really believe in their young secondary. Matt Ryan was not specific about what portion of his life's chaos over the last 18 months was due to the Colts and how much was caused by the Falcons, but someone should ask how much of it was due to his inability to play. Ryan also shared a robust "I don't know" when asked about the Jonathan Taylor drama! Not sure whether CBS has told Ryan about how short the broadcasting careers are for analysts who say "I don't know," but they should. Colts have question marks, and Jim Bob Cooter and Gus Bradley need to find answers a little more sure than Ryan's penchant for "I don't know." Learn more about your ad choices. The trade would allow the Bears to draft Alabama QB Bryce Young at 1 then Ohio State OT Paris Johnson at 9. Julian Council explains why this trade doesn't make any sense for Carolina and why it would just be compounding, not fixing, the mistakes of the past.Plus, Derek Carr is officially a free agent and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter there could be interest in Carolina for the former Raiders QB's services...Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!BetterHelpThis episode is brought to you by BetterHelp.
