In this episode, Dr. Joel Muddamalle joins us as we explore the Divine Council Worldview. Joel dives into the divine council worldview, explaining its significance and how it brings coherence to the scriptures. He starts with the concept of the cosmic mountain in Eden and the presence of God's cosmic family. He discusses the rebellion of the sons of God in Genesis 6 and the resulting Nephilim. Joel then explores the Tower of Babel and the division of nations, highlighting the role of the divine council in stewarding the nations. He concludes by emphasizing the importance of understanding the supernatural elements of scripture and their impact on our faith. In this conversation, Dr. Joel Muddamalle and Jenny Mire discuss the divine council worldview and its implications for understanding the supernatural realm. They explore the concept of the divine council, which consists of God and other supernatural beings, and how these beings interact with humanity. They also delve into the role of Jesus in reclaiming the nations and bringing unity and peace. Understanding the divine council worldview helps believers have a deeper understanding of their identity, recognize the tactics of the enemy, and live out their commission in Christ. Joel's book, 'The Hidden Peace,' further explores these concepts. Joel Muddamalle holds a Phd in theology and serves as the director of theology and research at Proverbs 31 Ministries. There's no question that sexual sin is something that many struggle with at some point throughout their life. Pornography, premarital sex, extra-marital affairs - they have unfortunately and heart breakingly become too common in our culture and society today. A recent statistic recently projected over 30 million people struggle with problematic sexual behavior, if not addiction - and another stat revealed that over 10 million youth and adolescents regularly view pornography online. Now we understand this is a sensitive topic, but one that needs to be further discussed if we are going to experience freedom from it's bondage in order to expose this darkness into the light. Joining us today to help us develop a better understanding as to this death trap of a cycle related to sexual sin, shame, and addiction is a man who understands its grip and the path to recovery and sobriety. Today's guest is renowned faith-based Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT), as well as a man who serves on the Executive Advisory Board here for us at the AACC, Jim Cress. In knowing that the internet has really become the “crack cocaine” for sex addiction, as it allows individuals to remain anonymous, as well as being easily accessible and affordable, we need to continually educate, equip, and encourage individuals as to how they can stay alert and fight back from the strongholds of sin. Our prayer is that this episode would help you find and anchor yourself in the hope of Christ as you begin or continue on a path of healing. Disclaimer: This episode contains discussions about pornography and sex addictions. This Boundaries series has been a fun and meaningful one for us to put together, and I can't believe we've reached the end of these episodes! For our final interview of the series, Jim Cress closes us out, and there couldn't have been a more perfect person to wrap it all up. Jim is a father, a husband of almost 38 years, a licensed professional counselor and certified sex addiction therapist, as well as an ordained minister through Dallas Baptist Seminary. Jim and I talk about boundaries within a marriage, why boundaries in a marriage are necessary, defining what a boundary is, and what it looks like for a parent to walk through a pornography addiction with their child. Boundaries can seem like a scary thing but my hope for you is that you see boundaries as good things. Boundaries are to keep us safe, which is an example of agape love because we are called to love our neighbors as we love ourselves – we can only do that if we are setting good boundaries. Jim defined a boundary as, “Not controlling the other person but controlling ourselves,” and when we understand this, we begin to set boundaries more frequently. We wrapped up our conversation discussing how spouses should address one another when one may be struggling with pornography, along with practical ways to be proactive with your kids about their sexual life. These are not easy conversations, but if we declare what is true and seek help, we can have hope that things will change.I hope you have enjoyed this series as much as I did. Now let's go out and live healthier lives by setting good boundaries with our spouses, kids, friends, co-workers, and our technology.
