Scott Hoke from Mecum Auctions joins us from Indianapolis to share what makes the upcoming Houston auction such a compelling destination for car enthusiasts. With his broadcasting career spanning back to 1979, Scott brings decades of automotive passion to our conversation about collector cars and the unique experience Mecum creates."It's the best car show that you'll ever attend because you're probably going to find something or see something that you've never seen before," Scott explains, highlighting how Mecum events offer value beyond just bidding opportunities. The nostalgia factor drives deep connections as visitors reminisce about cars from their past – whether personally owned, admired from afar, or part of family history. The Houston auction, happening April 3-5 at NRG Center, will feature approximately 1,000 vehicles including several standout offerings. A 1963 Chevy II Nova convertible with dark blue exterior and baseball glove leather interior promises to turn heads, while Corvette enthusiasts will appreciate several examples including a rare 2019 ZR1. Second-generation Ford GTs from 2005-2006 continue showing strong market performance and will likely command significant attention. We also take the 2025 Mazda CX-70 PHEV for a test drive. This new addition to Mazda's lineup slots between the CX-50 and CX-90, essentially offering the larger CX-90 platform without the third row. With a distinctive copper exterior paired with red Nappa leather interior, the vehicle makes a bold visual statement. The plug-in hybrid system delivers impressive efficiency when charged, though the 26-mile electric-only range raises questions about the premium price over traditional gasoline models.Whether you're a serious collector ready to bid or simply appreciate automotive history and craftsmanship, both the Mecum Auction and our detailed vehicle reviews offer something valuable. Jeremy Piven plays Don “The Goods” Ready, a Mercenary car salesman leading a crew of wild and crazy car movers. They're the people dealers call in when then need the lots emptied. Think of them as the A-Team, with less guns and waaaaaaaay more smut. When i chose this movie I thought - hey - a movie with a great cast and great humor potential - and great cars….and what I got was……a movie I didn't hate but will likely never watch again. There are so many automotive rivalries: Ford v Ferrari, Honda v Volkswagen, Chevy v Ford, and the list goes on and on. But there is an extra special one in the sports car and motorsports world, Porsche versus Corvette, both of which recently celebrated their respective 75th and 70th birthdays. And after all this time, is it possible to agree on whether or not the 911 or the Corvette is “thee” every man's sports car. So which is it? And we're here to answer that very question with our petrol-head panel to settle yet another What Should I Buy? debate. For the first time as part of this series, our panelists will be focused on a specific set of vehicles. In part one of our two part “Porsche vs Corvette” debate, we're joined by Mark Shank, our ‘90s expert, along with Corvette owners like William “Big Money” Ross from The Exotic Car Marketplace, Rob Parr from Collector Car Guide, and Rick Hoback from AutoInterests and Hoback Racing … and then expert by way of his work with MECUM Auctions who sells more Corvette's than anyone else on the planet, and he get to write about them, Don Weberg from Garage Style Magazine! And like all What Should I Buy (WSIB) episodes… we have some shopping criteria. So get ready folks, it's time to unbutton your Hawaiian shirt, shine up your gold chains and pull out a fresh pair of new balance sneakers, because we're gonna talk about Corvettes! And our panel of extraordinary petrol-heads are challenged to find our “first time collector” something that will make their friends go “OH, THAT'S SO YOU” at the next Cars & Coffee. This episode is sponsored in part by: The International Motor Racing Research Center (IMRRC), learn about how you can enter to win a brand new Corvette! As well as MECUM Auctions, the largest reseller of Corvettes in the country. ===== (Oo---x---oO) ===== The Motoring Podcast Network : Years of racing, wrenching and Motorsports experience brings together a top notch collection of knowledge, stories and information. #everyonehasastory #gtmbreakfix - motoringpodcast.net More Information: https://www.motoringpodcast.net/ Become a VIP at: https://www.patreon.com/ Online Magazine: https://www.gtmotorsports.org/

Get ready to navigate the cosmic chaos with State Trooper Sergeant Steve Woodard as we prep for a solar eclipse that's got the potential to gridlock the highways like we're evacuating for Hurricane Rita. Safety is the name of the game here, folks – we're talking about keeping those headlights on and emergency snacks on hand as we anticipate over a million spectators joining us on the roads. The charm of today's discussion? It's not just about eclipse planning; it's a healthy mix of humor and stern reminders that there are no trophies for rushing to your destination.Have you ever felt like the world's moving at breakneck speed while you're stuck in slow motion? Speeding is a hot topic that hits close to home for many, and we are laying it all out – the hard truths, the personal tales, and the eye-opening stats that'll make you think twice about pushing that pedal to the metal. As Sergeant Woodard dissects the tragic outcomes that a mere 20 mph can cause, remember, arriving late beats never arriving at all. It's a conversation as real as it gets, with a little nudge to consider your speedometer as more than just a number.Rev those engines and mark your calendars, because the racing scene is buzzing with events from the NHRA Arizona Nationals to the pulse-pounding turns of NASCAR. But it's not all rubber and racetracks; we've had our fair share of studio shenanigans and guest list roulette that'll give you a glimpse of the chaos that brews behind the mics. And for those with a taste for the eclectic, Mecum Auctions is rolling into Houston with a lineup that'll make any car enthusiast's heart skip a beat.
