Gender-affirming care is on the ballot in this presidential election. These treatments, which can include hormone therapy and surgeries, can be lifesaving for trans people. But they could be impacted by the results of this election. This year alone, states have considered 182 bills aimed at prohibiting gender-affirming care. It's become a central part of Donald Trump's campaign, which has stated that, if he is elected, he'll ask Congress to ban Medicare and Medicaid from covering gender-affirming care, and cut off federal funding to hospitals and clinics that do provide it.Guest host Rachel Feltman discusses what's at stake for gender-affirming care this election season with Dr. Logan Casey, director of policy research for the Movement Advancement Project, and Kate Steinle, chief clinical officer at FOLX Health.Transcript for this segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com. Today on The Patrick Madrid Show, we tackled the escalating border crisis in Texas. Governor Abbott's bold stand, provoked by an unconstitutional invasion, has drawn support from multiple states, highlighting the urgency of border control and raising questions about federal inaction. We explored concerns from San Antonio to ranches along the border – about public safety, the influx of young military-aged men, and the overarching impact on our communities. The dialogue cut deep into the Supreme Court's role, sanctuary cities' failures, and even a philosophical musing on our mortality with Lent around the corner. Today's episode is brimming with passion, reality checks, and a reminder of the complex layers behind today's headlines. Patrick comments on the latest news concerning “Operation Lone Star” and reads Texas Gov. Abbott's statement on Texas' constitutional right to self-defense (03:39) Audio: Senator Janae Shamp introduces the Arizona Border Invasion Act (25:06) Audio: In 2007, then Senator Joe Biden said “No” to sanctuary cities Patrick comments on the murder of Kate Steinle by an illegal alien Joe - Where do monks generally get the skull that sometimes are seen on their desks? Andrew - I think you characterized the situation with the supreme court wrong. They didn't rule on it. Also, I want to talk about the constitutional right that the Texas governor has to do this Lucy - I think it is scary having people coming over. There are so many more homeless in my city now. They are walking up and down our streets day and night. (45:55)
What You Need to Know is political indictments are a travesty to justice. The latest round of indictments against not only Trump but a group of Republicans comes from the DA in Fulton County, Georgia. The absurdity of these indictments become increasingly clear as they move down to the state level. The legal community should be vehemently denouncing these indictments simply for their legal absurdity. It is not American to legally criminalize political opinions. Shawn Carney, CEO and President of 40 Days for Life, joins Ed to discuss RFK's struggles with how he's campaigning on the abortion issue. Carney says that Kennedy's walk-back illustrates the struggle within the Democratic party to reconcile differing viewpoints on abortion. Ed and Shawn also discuss the recent Ohio vote regarding the constitutional change on abortion. Find out about Shawn's work on 40daysforlife.com. Tom Trento, CEO of Defend the Border, has recently completed ‘Death County and the River of Broken Dreams,' the first episode in the 10 part TV series about Tom Homan. Tom and Ed discuss the presentation of difficult ideas in visual media, the battle at the border, and how to change people's minds on the border. Wrap Up: With all the issues going on with immigration and the border, why isn't it an everyday topic? It's important not to forget the case of Kate Steinle, tragically murdered by an illegal immigrant, and we need to be spreading more important images and symbols of the border struggle. That is what Tom Trento is doing.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Gender-affirming care, including social, psychological, behavioral, and medical interventions, is supportive healthcare that affirms a person's gender identity when it conflicts with their assigned birth gender. Though proven to result in overwhelmingly positive outcomes, such as reducing suicide ideation and attempts, gender-affirming care access can be hard to come by, especially in primary care settings. In this episode, Kate Steinle, nurse practitioner, chief clinical officer at FOLX Health, and former Planned Parenthood employee, discusses ways to break down the barriers to gender-affirming care and expand access to patients.

Under the new law, teachers and other staff must possess at least 24 hours of training, compared to the previous over 700 hours of training, according to local outlet NBC4. The 24 hours includes 18 hours of general training, two hours of handgun training, two hours of “additional” general training and two hours of “additional” handgun training, according to the outlet TOPIC 3- ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT ACQUITTED IN KATE STEINLE'S 2015 SHOOTING DEATH GETS TIME SERVED FOR FEDERAL WEAPONS CHARGES Jose Inez Garcia-Zarate, an illegal immigrant who was acquitted of murder in the 2015 shooting death of Kate Steinle, was sentenced to the seven years he has already spent behind bars on Monday after pleading guilty to federal weapons charges earlier this year. An illegal immigrant who has been deported five times was sentenced on Monday to time already served over a federal weapons charge related to his acquittal of murder in the 2015 shooting death of San Francisco woman Kate Steinle. Jose Inez Garcia-Zarate is facing deportation to his native Mexico after a federal judge in California sentenced him to the seven years he has already spent in jail — bringing an end to the case that sparked a firestorm over immigration and sanctuary cities. “If you return to this country again and you are back in front of me, I will not spare you. Let this be your last warning: Do not return to this country,” US District Judge Vince Chhabria said during his sentencing hearing. Steinle, 32, was shot dead while she was walking along San Francisco's crowded Pier 14 with her dad and a friend on July 4, 2015. Garcia-Zarate, who was in the US illegally and had already been deported five times, admitted to accidentally firing the gun. He said he'd found it under a bench, but didn't know it was a firearm because it was wrapped up in a T-shirt. The gun fired when Garcia-Zarate picked it up and officials said the bullet ricocheted off the ground before striking the victim. https://nypost.com/2022/06/07/illegal-immigrant-cleared-in-kate-steinle-death-gets-time-served-for-gun-charge/ See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

If people would only admit that the immigration crisis is not about having sympathy for immigrants-but really about certain politicians wanting more immigrants in this country-illegal or not-to sway the vote their way-we could arrive at a more rational solution! But, this doesn't seem to be happening any time soon. Today's guest, Maria Espinoza, National Director of The Remembrance Project, tells it like it is. After the recent spending bill, passed by Congress, failed to include enough money to build a wall, President Trump figured out another way to protect our national security: calling on the military to build the wall and/or patrol our border with Mexico. But, protecting the border isn't just about keeping illegal aliens out- it's about keeping terrorists out!

Vicious Circle Now Complete. A San Francisco jury renders "not guilty" verdict against the illegal alien who killed Kate Steinle. We review the responses of the Steinle family and examine the Sanctuary City policies that are putting Californians at risk. Why are many on the Left proud of this verdict? Time to build "Kate's Wall," we say. Meanwhile, President Trump scorches NBC's Joe Scarborough with a tweet about an "unsolved mystery" that took place in Florida "years ago." We look into the mysterious death of a Scarborough intern back in 2001, and ask why Scarborough resigned from Congress shortly thereafter. Responding to the devastatingly timed presidential tweet, a shaken Scarborough claims Trump has "dementia." Also, we look deeper into the FBI's Peter Strzok, the Trump-hating FBI agent dismissed from Team Mueller. What was the pro-Hillary Strzok's role in investigating Hillary's emails? And what was Strzok's involvement with British spy Christopher Steele, of the infamous Trump Dossier? Looking bad for Mueller here, and the FBI as well. Plus, the Senate passes the GOP Tax Cuts bill, Roy Moore appears headed for victory in Alabama, and we offer a vignette from philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer. The Hostile Media finds itself "exhausted from being outraged" in the Trump Era, as White House insiders now claim "unstoppable momentum." We look further into the Flynn plea deal, which Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz describes as a "show of weakness" by Team Mueller. Process crimes for a key witness? Leon Panetta, former Secretary of Defense, adds that its "a stretch" to insinuate the Trump transition team broke any laws. Meanwhile, Roy Moore takes a commanding lead in Alabama, Sen.
