New evidence, reports Nathan Steinmeyer of the Biblical Archaeology Society, is confirming the biblical description of the kingdom of Judah as it existed in King David's time. This is significant, according to Steinmeyer, because “[d]espite King David's prominence in the Hebrew Bible, little archaeological evidence has been directly linked to the early years of the Kingdom of Judah.” Because of this apparent discrepancy between the archeological record and the biblical description of the region during the 10th-century B.C., “some scholars have argued that Judah only became a developed polity in the ninth or even eighth century B.C.E.” Recently, however, an article published in the Jerusalem Journal of Archaeology by renowned Hebrew University archeologist Yosef Garfinkel, whose team has been digging four major sites in the Judean foothills since 2007, makes claims that “completely transforms the state of research.” Newly exposed settlement layers reveal a number of population centers with writing, housing, and casemate [or double] city walls, which form the kind of fortified cities described in 1 and 2 Samuel. These cities, at Khirbet Qeiyafa, Khirbet el-Ra‘i, Socoh, and Lachish may have been the nucleus of the kingdom of Judah. Furthermore, Garfinkel notes, the ancient city of Hebron makes an ideal center point for this kingdom and matches the biblical record, which states that David was crowned in Hebron and only later moved to Jerusalem seven years into his reign. A number of other findings from these sites also confirm the biblical narrative. Rectangular beams in groups of three match descriptions of Solomon's palace and temple and indicate that the pattern was used at the time of King Solomon's reign. Tenth-century fortifications in the city of Lachish correspond to the biblical account of King Rehoboam. The Judean city of Khirbet Qeiyafa sits across the Elah Valley from the major Philistine city of Gath—matching descriptions of conflict between the House of David and these neighbors. Contra the widely accepted scholarly claims of the 1990s, which argued that Judea was “empty of population” in the time described by the Bible, Garfinkel's findings suggest that 10th-century Judea was a young, expanding kingdom. Archaeological work is complicated and often incomplete. Still, it is remarkable how often the evidence, even as it piles up, confirms biblical accounts of history. According to Jewish archeologist Nelson Gluek, “It may be stated categorically that no archaeological discovery has ever controverted a Biblical reference.” This, even as “[s]cores of archaeological findings have been made which confirm in clear outline or exact detail historical statements in the Bible.” The reason archeological confirmation matters is because Christianity is uniquely grounded in history as it actually happened. Some religions, like Buddhism or Hinduism, are insulated from verifiable tests of logic, reason, or human history, claiming to reveal only spiritual truths. Other religions, such as Islam, ground some traditions in history while making its central claims, such as the inspiration of the Qur'an, an article of pure faith. (For the record, the claim the Qur'an has been perfectly preserved fails even basic challenges of historical and textual criticism.) While these other belief systems are “non-falsifiable,” meaning they are so far removed from the world of evidence it is impossible to show whether they're true or false, Christianity claims that its most important events, particularly the events of Israel and the life of Jesus Christ, actually happened. The events of the Bible occurred in actual history and are open to historical scrutiny—most notably the death and resurrection of Jesus. Otherwise, the apostles Peter and Paul made clear, we are left with only cleverly devised myths and faith that is futile. Christians need not fear rigorous scholarship, especially not the booming world of ancient archeology. The more we dig into the dirt of history, the more we are reminded that God has always been, and remains today, active in the world He made.
Episode: Biblical World co-host Kyle Keimer discusses his research on King Hezekiah's preparations for the Assyrian attack in 701 BCE. How do archaeologists determine the nature and extent of Hezekiah's defensive network? Did the Judeans use fire signals? How did the king prepare for war (and pay for it)? Listen in for a fascinating discussion of Keimer's archaeological, biblical, and geographical thoughts on this crucial event in Judah's history. Guest: Kyle Keimer is Senior Research Fellow in the Department of History and Archaeology at Macquarie University, where he was Senior Lecturer in Archaeology, History, and Language of Ancient Israel. He also lectures at Jerusalem University College. For over 20 years he has been excavating in Israel and Cyprus and was co-director of the Khirbet el-Rai excavations. He loves digging as much as he loves working with ancient texts, especially the books of 1-2 Samuel and Isaiah. His research currently focuses on the early Israelite monarchy in text and archaeology. He's co-edited Registers and Modes of Communication in the Ancient Near East (Routledge) and The Ancient Israelite World (Routledge), and he's published articles in various journals. His UCLA Ph.D. dissertation was on "The Socioeconomic Impact of Hezekiah's Preparations for Rebellion." Give: Help support OnScript's Biblical World as we grow and develop. Click HERE.

The Gospel of John 8-14 Part Three: The God Shepherd By Louie Marsh, 5-8-2022 Slides – last one Bad Shepherd game. Jesus Reveals Himself to Be… 1) I AM the DOOR of the sheep. “7So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. I AM, the sacred NAME of God. 13 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, ‘What is his name?' what shall I say to them?” 14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you... Exodus 3:13-15 (ESV) The personal name of Israel's God, Yahweh (usually rendered Lord is built from the Hebrew verb "to be." The name Yahweh for the Israelite God is attested outside the Old Testament in the Mesha Inscription, the Arad Ostraca, the Lachish letters and inscriptions from Khirbet el-Qom and Kuntillat Ajrud, to name a few of the more prominent places "I am that I am," and designated Himself by this name as the absolute God of the fathers, acting with unfettered liberty and self-dependence. This name precluded any comparison between the God of the Israelites and the deities of the Egyptians and other nations. Spiritual life can only be found by GOING THRU the door. 10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. All other ways to God are false! 2) I AM the GOOD SHEPHERD. 11I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.” (John 10:7–15, ESV) 3) I AM has the AUTHORITY to lay down his life & take it up again. “17For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. 18No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.”” (John 10:17–18, ESV) 4) Jesus is GOD. “24So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.” 25Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, 26but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. 27My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. 30I and the Father are one.”” (John 10:24–30, ESV)

Episode: In this episode Chris and Kyle discuss the archaeology of Khirbet er-Ra‘i/Arai, a small site in the southern part of Israel that dates from the end of the Late Bronze Age into the early Iron Age IIA (ca. 13th-10th c. BC). This site is proving to be exceptional for this time period and appears to be the key site in the region, having taken over this role from the nearby site of Lachish following its destruction in the mid-/late-12th c. BC. Specific finds, including the recent Jerubba'al inscription, as well as the ancient name of the site are also covered. Chris and Kyle discuss whether or not Arai was biblical Ziklag. Hosts: Kyle Keimer (MacQuarie University) and Chris McKinny (Geshur Media) Detail: Chris and Kyle discuss the following topics: - The archaeology of Khirbet Arai; the Iron Age I context of the site - identity/ethnicity of, and cultural interaction between Canaanites, Philistines, and Israelites - the early Iron Age chronology debate; Dating the arrival of the Sea Peoples/Philistines - the recently discovered Jerubba'al inscription - the ancient name of Khirbet Arai—is it biblical Ziklag? In this episode of "Keeping it Israel" Jeff talks to Prof. Yosef Garfinkel, Head of the Institute of Archaeology at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem about what he's discovered in the 5 years he's been excavating at Khirbet al-Ra'i. According to Yossi, the site is ancient, Ziklag, found exactly as described in the Bible. The finds there are consistent with the Bible story about King David and his complicated interactions with the Philistines. From 2007-2013, Yossi excavated Khirbet Qeiyafa and discovered a fortress dating to the time of King David (1000 BCE), overlooking the valley where the bible says David slew the Giant Philistine, Goliath. There, among other incredible finds, he unearthed an inscription that is possibly the earliest Hebrew inscription known. According to Yossi, the Bible story about King David and the Philistine giant Goliath is not as far-fetched as some might think.First Century Foundations is a Charity that supports ministries in Jerusalem and many other parts of the country of Israel. In this segment of By Any Means Necessary, hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman are joined by Miko Peled, human rights activist and author of “The General's Son: Journey of an Israeli in Palestine,” and “Injustice, the Story of the Holy Land Foundation Five," to discuss the recent razing by Israeli forces of a Palestinian village in the occupied West Bank, why the move appears to be the largest forced displacement of Palestinians in years or even decades, and what the international condemnations by the UN and others mean for Palestinians on the ground.
Digging Up Qumran (Episode 11) During the early 1950s the riddle of the Dead Sea Scrolls takes a new turn. Father Roland de Vaux, under the supervision of the Jordanian government, organizes a major excavation of the site of Khirbet Qumran. As the diggers meticulously remove the rubble, an entire ancient settlement begins to appear. The amazing thing is that, even after two long millennia, the Dead Sea Scrolls and the legacy they convey still belong to everybody. And with the tools of archaeology at our disposal, everybody may one day know a great deal more about who lived in this barren wilderness known today as Khirbet Qumran. In the inaugural podcast of Monocle & Spade, Ted discusses a summary of archaeological evidences for the early date of the Exodus and Conquest with archaeologist Dr. Scott Stripling. Scott is the current Director of Excavations at Tel Shiloh in Israel. Scott previously served as Field Supervisor at Tall el-Hammam Excavation Project in Jordan from 2005-2010, and as Director of the Khirbet el-Maqatir project since 2010, as well as Supervisor of the Jerusalem Temple Mount Salvage Project. Ted and Scott begin the discussion with the Israelites in Egypt, then they give a summary of evidences for the Israelite conquest of Canaan during the Early Bronze Age period (EBI).
JERUSALEM - We have found biblical Ziklag,” declared a press release from the Khirbet a-Ra’i excavation team this week. A massive archaeological effort has taken place at the site over the past three years, excavating through a square kilometer of the tel and providing evidence for what could be considered King David’s “first” city. On today’s program host Brent Nagtegaal looks at the claim that Khirbet a-Ra’i is biblical Ziklag and the larger point that another Davidic-era city has been discovered. ‘We Have Found Biblical Ziklag’ DNA Study Confirms Biblical Account of Philistine Origins Archaeologists propose new site as biblical Ziklag. Is it so? – Luke Chandler
04/01/2019 God Is In Control- Exodus 14-The Miracle of Israels Exodus, Pharaohs Destruction And The Power of Gods Word & The Inevitable Financial Meltdown From Mans Abandonment of Gods Word & Economic System. Build Your Private Gold Standard While You Still Can!!! When it was time for God to begin the process and story of the Israelites, he used the cruelty and self-proclaimed deification of Pharaoh combined with a simple man names Moses who was miraculously saved from the icy heartless destructive crutches of Pharaoh who began a campaign of ruthless genocide, demanding the midwives to kill all new-born males by casting them into the river nile which was, ironically, the supplier of life for the Egyptians. Moses is rescued and “ironically” directed by Pharaohs own daughter to act as a wet nurse and raise moses-her own son up as an infant. What an absolute blessing and impossibility orchestrated by God. God preserved Moses for a very special day and a very special act that was to lead to the freeing of the Israelites. After 400 years in captivity, the Israelites were terrified of the Egyptians and fled aggressively, however, they were directed by God to camp in a special spot where God new they would be easily discovered by Pharaohs army. Once Pharaohs army came after them, God told Moses to push them toward the Red Sea where God used natural processes to open a literal valley across the sea for the Israelites to pass. Once the army began pursuing them, God confused them and they began swerving and riding their chariots randomly around, not knowing where to go or what to do. Soon thereafter, the Israelites eventually reached dry land and every person in Pharaohs army was destroyed. God intentionally hardened pharaohs heart to extricate them and then, once he realized his lack of slaves left him powerless in every way, he went to recover them. This was after Moses had clearly shown pharaoh who God was. Pharaohs arrogance and hardness of heart lead to his own destruction, ultimately weakening his entire empire. Various calendars debate the exact dates of these events but the Hebrew Calendar and evidence of a complete & immediate abandonment of the palace district coincides well with the stories of exodus, the plagues and death of the pharaoh Amenhotep II. It is believed that Amenhotep !! was immediately replaced with another pharaoh with the same name “AMenhotep IIA” to hide or deny the events that too place during the exodus. According to: Bryant G. Wood, ABR Director of Research, principal archaeologist and director of ABR’s excavation at Khirbet el-Maqatir. He has a MS in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a MA in Biblical History from the University of Michigan, and a PhD in Syro-Palestinian Archaeology from the University of Toronto. “The boastful and arrogant attitude of Amenhotep IIA matches that of the Pharaoh of the Exodus described in the Bible. When Moses first confronted the Egyptian king, his response was, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord and I will not let Israel go” (Ex 5:2). His cruelty can be seen in his withholding the straw the Israelites needed for making mud bricks (Ex 5:6–9). In addition, he was stubborn and went back on his word on numerous occasions. Even after the death of the first-born, when he finally let the Israelites go, he reneged and pursued them. In spite of his human strength and abilities, Amenhotep IIA and his army were no match for the God of Israel. The residency was suddenly abandoned during the reign of Amenhotep II, with no known reason: The palace district was probably abandoned after the reign of Amenophis II [=Amenhotep II]…The reason for the abandonment of this district, and, presumably, the entire city adjoining the district on the south is an unsolved puzzle at this time. Its solution would be of the greatest importance to historians. The suggestion that the peaceful foreign policy of the late reign of Amenophis II and Tuthmose IV made this militarily important settlement unnecessary is not convincing. A plague, such as the one documented for Avaris in the late Middle Kingdom, and associated with Avaris in later tradition, appears to be the most likely solution of this problem, although it cannot be proven at this time (Bietak and Forstner-Müller 2005: 93, 95; translation by ABR Board member Walter Pasedag). Although Egyptian history does not provide an answer for this abandonment, Exodus 7–14 certainly does. As a result of the 10 plagues and the death of Pharaoh in the Sea of Reeds Perunefer became an unsuitable, or undesirable, place to live. With the Israelites and their God gone, it appears that the Egyptians quickly put a new Pharaoh on the throne, gave him the same name as the previous Pharaoh, and tried to put things back to normal, including making sure that none of these events were recorded in the history books.” 04/01/2019 True Wealth Radio Precious Metals and Financial Opinion: This 04/01/2019 True Wealth Radio show covered the biblical exodus account in relatively extensive detail. In addition, it also briefly touched on the importance of protecting your wealth in hard assets to protect against a total and complete financial meltdown which is inevitable unless drastic changes are made immediately. The real problem is that the current generation has no clue that the unsound monetary policy by all world governments, cresting fiat currency like wild-fire t will combined with an unsustainable fiat based fractional reserve banking system that has facilitated the creation and accumulation of insurmountable quantities of debt. The only real solutions to avoiding an inevitable financial meltdown are to eliminate the following: *Federal reserve bank-Must be replaced with a return to the gold backed money demanded in the US Constitution and Coinage Act of 1792. HOWEVER, WE SHOULD ALL IMMEDIATELY TAKE THIS STEP INDIVIDUALLY NOW. *Eliminate Debts-Nationally this may require a default on debts and non-life threatening social entitlements. Most likely this will continue to be felt with hyper-inflation rather than default. The 2 are identical while one is virtually transparent. The government should operate just as a family in a personal financial crisis. *Eliminate Derivatives Altogether-These currently exceed $1Quadrillion. Guaranteed economic explosion. Eliminate Long-term Politicians-Term Limits. Career Politicians behave for re-election alone. New transparent Tax System based on consumption alone. Could easily lead to a 100% tax increase leading to lower tax rates. *Eliminate money creation by politicians and/or private corporations. As per the Article 1. Section 8 of the constitutional directives, only congress should be able allowed to create money-backed only by gold & silver, and equalled only by what is taxed revenue. Eliminate Bretton-Woods Act and all fiat currencies worldwide. Other countries could and would use our money again. Money must be trusted and fungible. Gold & Silver or hard-fungible-assets only. Precious metals are uniform, globally recognized. compact, transportable and (in general) immediately liquid anywhere at anytime in the world. Precious metals have served as money from the beginning of written human history. Written by Kevin Wolter, President of COINSPlus, Spokane, WA, 509-444-0044.

Are the stories of the Bible history, or mythology? The science of archaeology can help to provide the answer. This week Kevin speaks with Dr. Scott Stripling (a returning guest) and Dr. Bryant Wood, archeologists with the Associates for Biblical Research (ABR). They discuss some exciting new archeological finds, including the signet ring of King Hezekiah (the same Hezekiah who had a 533-meter-long tunnel constructed under Jerusalem). The three of them also discuss a compelling new documentary that Dr. Wood was involved in: Patterns of Evidence: Exodus. This film, created by Tim Mahoney, explores the evidence for Israel’s arrival, prosperity, enslavement, and exodus from Egypt as described in the Bible. Although there is abundant archaeological data supporting the biblical account, secular historians write it off as appearing far to early to match up with the rest of ancient history. But could it be that the archaeological establishment has erred in its chronology of ancient Egyptian history? To learn more about the Associates for Biblical Research and the archeological evidence for the Bible, visit their website at BibleArchaeology.org. Are the stories recorded in the Bible real history, or just mythology? There’s only one way to know for sure: through biblical archaeology. This week Kevin talks with archaeologist Dr. Scott Stripling of the Associates for Biblical Research, author of The Trowel and the Truth. Dr. Stripling grew up in a Christian home, hearing the stories of the Bible from his mother. He became an avid Bible reader in his teen years, but was perplexed by the huge cultural divide between the biblical text and modern day readers such as himself. His desire to better understand the historical context of the Bible led him to study archaeology, and he went on to earn his Doctorate in Ministry with an emphasis in Ancient Near Eastern archaeology. Today Dr. Stripling is the director of ABR’s excavation in Khirbet el-Maqatir, located 9 miles north of Jerusalem in the disputed territory of Security Zone C. Though excavation only takes place five weeks out of the year, his team has made many discoveries that verify biblical history. Dr. Stripling tells Kevin about some of the most significant of these finds, such as an Egyptian scarab that helps to verify biblical accounts of Israel’s exodus and the conquest of Canaan. Christianity is not a religion of mythology and blind faith; biblical events really happened, and the evidence is out there. Some of it still needs to be unearthed, and the Associates for Biblical Research are doing just that. You can support their archeological mission to show the truth of the Bible at BibleArchaeology.org, and even volunteer to participate in a dig yourself! This episode first aired on May 10th, 2015.
