In today's episode of Yoga | Birth | Babies, we're diving into some of the common—yet often overlooked—stressors of pregnancy. We explore everything from hormonal changes and PMADs (Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders) to the profound life shifts that come with this transition. We also take a closer look at trauma-informed care: what it really means, how trauma is defined, and how to effectively communicate your needs to your care provider when it comes to support during birth. To have this conversation today with me on Yoga| Birth| Babies I have maternal health specialist Ja'Neen Jenkins. With a deep passion for supporting mothers through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, Ja'Neen integrates her expertise as a licensed mental health therapist, doula, and perinatal coach to provide compassionate, trauma-informed care. Ja'Neen holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a Master's in Teaching from Louisiana College in Pineville, and a Master of Science in Counseling from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She currently serves as the Clinical Supervisor at Jenkins Counseling Services, where she is committed to shaping the future of perinatal mental health care. In this episode, we talk about everything from birth debriefing and birth maps to nervous system regulation and how it influences the flow of labor. If you or someone you love is expecting, this episode is a must-listen. So often, people leave their birth experience feeling unsettled or disappointed. But as Ja'Neen and I discuss, the work done during pregnancy can significantly reduce the risk of birth trauma and postpartum mental health challenges. SHOW NOTES: On today's program, a proposed State Department rule could impact employment regulations for nonprofits…and some ministry leaders are voicing concern. We'll take a look. And, the North Carolina pastor who went viral for remarks he made from the pulpit about rape has apologized—but the controversy, which has sparked ongoing protests, caught the attention of lawmakers and inflamed the state's debate over school vouchers. We'll have details. Also, Salem Media—one of the only Christian publicly traded companies—has reported a $46 million operating loss in its latest annual report. That story later in the program. But first two Christian Colleges face legal challenges due to their names. I was in Indianapolis this week meeting with donors and others there. If you came out to some of my meetings, thanks for hanging out with me. Special thanks to Bill Warren with FAME, a medical missions organization based in Indianapolis for showing me some Hoosier hospitality. I also want to remind everyone that we're offering an important new book this month to everyone who donates to MinistryWatch. It's called “How I Lost $1,500,000 in Missions” by John Addink. If you are a donor to foreign missions projects, a ministry leader of a missions organization, or perhaps a pastor who supports missionaries, you should read this book. We'll send it to you absolutely free, as our thank you, for a gift of any size to MinistryWatch this month. Just go to MinistryWatch.com and hit the donate button at the top of the page. The producer for today's program is Jeff McIntosh.  We get database and other technical support from Stephen DuBarry, Rod Pitzer, and Casey Sudduth. During treatment, he emphasizes patient education and believes it is key to positive outcomes and future injury prevention. He is a South Louisiana native who grew up in Houma, Louisiana. He attended Terrebonne High School where he graduated Valedictorian of his class and enjoyed playing varsity soccer for four years. Dr. Marcel then attended Louisiana College (now Louisiana Christian University) where he received his Bachelor of Science with a major in biology. Fasting is a well-known Biblical principal, but unless we understand why we fast, it just becomes another thing to do in the new year. But if we grasp that fasting unlocks the power of God within our lives, then we can be truly satisfied. Today April is joined by Pastor Jeffrey Kent, author of Satisfied: A 21-Day Prayer and Fasting Devotional through the Gospel of John. Listen in on this conversation between two seminary graduates to learn how you can be completely satisfied in 2022! Below are some of our favorite takeaways from today's show: ⭐️ Fasting is different than a new year resolution in the way that we depend on God to satisfy our every need versus depending on ourselves to improve our circumstances. ⭐️ Limiting our fleshly desires allows our spirit to come alive and increases God's clarity and power within our lives. ⭐️ Don't give up if you happen to slip up within the fast. Remember that the goal to keep pressing in to God's heart. ⭐️ When we are intentional to consecrate the first part of the year to God, we can come with great expectation that God will reveal Himself to us. Jeffrey received a B.A. in Religion from Louisiana College and a Master of Divinity from Liberty University. He describes how he discovered his senior market and how he approached this demographic to make money and help seniors who might not have the support or know-how to invest. Max discusses how he became a respected and lucrative speaker on the real estate circuit by talking for free to 25 people at his local church. He also shares his tips and advice for anyone about to embark on their own real estate investing business. "What was important to me was I want to do profitable deals. I want to do deals where, when I was working with the seller, there wasn't a lot of resistance to my offer." – Max Keller"I wish I had gone niche sooner, and I wish I had stopped using hard money sooner and started using more private money." – Max Keller "When I started understanding how to pour into other people, and I got that opportunity- teaching -, and I saw the returns were exponential? For as long as he could remember, Will Davis Campbell wanted to be an evangelical preacher in a small southern church. He was ordained by the elders of the East Fork Baptist Church at the age of seventeen and was attending Louisiana College when the United States entered WWII. Campbell volunteered for the army in 1943 and was assigned to a medical unit in the Pacific. While serving in that capacity he read the historical novel Freedom Road by Howard Fast and his views on race relations were challenged “in a very dramatic and lasting fashion.” After the war, Campbell attended Wake Forest, Tulane, and Yale Divinity School. He graduated and was called to be the pastor at a Baptist church in Taylor, Louisiana, but his progressive views on race and the 1954 Brown vs Board of Education decision inspired him to seek a more academic position. Campbell became Chaplin at the University of Mississippi but again his progress stance on the issue of race generated a great deal of controversy. After two and a half years, he resigned and went to work for the National Council of Churches as a field director for race relations, a role that would thrust him into the national spotlight as the Civil Rights Movement began heating up. 1976 – Will Davis Campbell grew up in the East Fork community with plans of becoming a preacher. In this episode he recalls how his thinking on race relations evolved while serving in the army. Campbell became a field director for the National Council of Churches in 1956. He explains how that position brought him to Civil Rights hotspots throughout the South. In 1957, a group of nine African American students enrolled in Little Rock Central High School. Campbell recounts escorting the students through the angry mob gathered out front. The Southern Christian Leadership Conference recruited a group of 125 rabbis, priests, and ministers to come to Albany, Georgia in 1963 to be arrested and immediately bailed out of jail. The plan was to shine a national spotlight on the city’s anti-congregation laws. Campbell remembers how Andrew Young allowed the clergymen to remain incarcerated overnight to get the "full activist experience." CAUTION: CONTAINS RACIALLY EXPLICIT LANGUAGE

If you’ve ever wanted to write a book, you’ll want to listen in as Dr. Sabrina and Mike give the inside scoop of the back-end of the book publication process, sharing an inside peek into what actually goes into writing a book, getting it published, and what you need to know about after it’s published. This is going to be fun!   Dr. Sabrina’s guest today is Paul Brodie, the CEO of Brodie Consulting Group. As a book publisher, he helps coaches, consultants, speakers, and business owners share their story with a proven system. What makes Paul’s books different is his ability to explain complex ideas and strategies in a simple, accessible way that you can implement immediately.   Paul is a lifelong learner and earned an MA in teaching from Louisiana College and a BBA in Management from the University of Texas at Arlington. In his spare time he loves to read and write books, to travel, especially to Maui and Las Vegas, and he’s an avid sports fan. Paul is also a proud Rotarian and a member of the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce.   Show Highlights:   Paul shares the compelling story of how he came to be a publisher.  There’s more to writing and publishing a book; you have to market it. When writing, you need to stop overthinking everything.  The book doesn’t have to be huge, but you need at least ten key talking points, especially if the book is a business-type non-fiction. There’s an app where you can speak your book out if you prefer not to write it out. You would need to speak 10-12 minutes of audio for each chapter.  If you can focus on one talking point a day for two weeks, you can crank out a book. The main thing that readers want is something direct and to-the-point. They all want to connect with you. Remember though, that it’s not all about the front-end. The front-end gives you credibility. The back-end makes you money. Writing a book is not about a pitch or a script, it’s about genuinely caring about people. That comes across and you don’t have to be sales-y. Paul discusses the meaningful legacy-type books that he also publishes. Dr. Sabrina and Mike offer insight into writing as a therapeutic process. Paul has written a variety of different books and provides a moving example of a book he wrote that was especially therapeutic for him. “The Imposter Syndrome” For a final proofread of your book, one of the best things you can do is to speak your book out loud or record an audio version so that you can catch any final mistakes.  Paul covers the different forms of publishing, leveraging your services, the investment and recouping your investment. Josh LaJaunie is faster and leaner than he has ever been in his life - and he’s mentally stronger too. This inspiring man went from being a Louisiana College football player from the deep-south Bayou, tipping the scales at over 400 lbs, to hitting a wall where deep down, Josh was actually dying a slow painful death from overeating, despair, embarrassment, and shame. This kind, warm-hearted family guy’s self-esteem was declining and it started eating away at his overall well-being. So Josh did what few people are able to do in this situation – he pivoted – he put the breaks on his life as he knew it, and he changed his perception about food. By second guessing his cultural norms and redefining what winning meant for himself, for his body and for his life - he healed, inside and outside. He adopted a new normal which included switching to plant-based healthy diet, changing the way he moved his body, and he developed a new mindset. The result - Josh lost 200 plus pounds. He overcame tremendous obstacles to restore and maintain his health. He reinvented himself as athlete, crushing marathons, winning an ultra and even gracing the cover of Runner’s World magazine. Check out his new book Sick to Fit: Three simple techniques that got me from 420 pounds to the cover of Runner’s World, Good Morning America, and the Today Show and learn how to beat those nasty excuses that stand between you and the person you were born to be. FAR 201 Max Keller Expected Air Date: 10/25/18 Opening The year 2030 marks an important demographic turning point in U.S. history according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2017 National Population Projections. By 2030, all baby boomers will be older than age 65. This will expand the size of the older population so that 1 in every 5 residents will be retirement age. “The aging of baby boomers means that within just a couple decades, older people are projected to outnumber children for the first time in U.S. history,” said Jonathan Vespa, a demographer with the U.S. Census Bureau. “By 2035, there will be 78.0 million people 65 years and older compared to 76.7 million (previously 76.4 million) under the age of 18.” Today’s savvy real estate investors will take note of this trend and will at least give this some consideration while developing a strategy. Our guest today is Max Keller who has devised a strategy geared toward helping seniors both in the selling of their current homes and relocating to the next. Max has a unique combination of compassion and business savvy that allows him to make money in real estate while serving a vitally important role. We love a gutsy call. Sure, our job isn't being put on the line when a coach makes the decision to go for two at the end of a key game, but this is Division III -- the coach's job isn't really on the line on one play call. We love a little gamble, especially when it pays off. Whether you call a Philly Special (or something that looks similar but fools the broadcaster) or something else, rolling the dice and getting it makes for a great highlight. So, for Marietta and Simpson, which chose to go for two, or Wittenberg, which had no choice, it was a big Week 5, and Pat and Keith honor that by going for two with the D3football.com Around the Nation Podcast.  Plus, the Little Brass Bell went back home with the team it came with, nobody was trapping Mary Hardin-Baylor or Hardin-Simmons, UW-Whitewater wore UW-La Crosse out and just maybe The Streak is in play this year. John D. Perret was born and reared in Lafayette, Louisiana, and began painting at age 10. He studied Art at Louisiana College in Alexandria, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. At the time, basketball was his first passion, and he played for both schools. After leaving school, he put his artistic talent on the back burner to become a restaurateur. He continued painting as a hobby, and gradually gravitated toward the monkeys he played with as a child. John says that God recently re ignited his passion to paint - and to spread the "3 Wize Monkeez" message... thus, this series. 3 Wize Monkeez Series "3 Wize Monkeez" was created from fond childhood memories of my five brothers, four sisters and I exploring my grandfather's library in uptown New Orleans. A physician and an avid reader, he had a small collection of the three wise monkeys ("Hear No Evil," "See No Evil,"and "Speak No Evil") which he kept in his library. "PaPa" even had three sterling silver monkeys on his watch fob, as a daily reminder of these important words to live by. Little did I realize then, what an influence these monkeys would have on my life some thirty years later. In fact, one set is now in Lafayette at my parents' home, influencing a whole new generation of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
