Following the tragic passing of actress Michelle Trachtenberg, co-stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kimberly J. Brown, and Blake Lively pay tribute to the late star. But Blake's tribute is getting scrutiny? Plus, Ari Emanuel's interview on Freakonomics appears to be scrapped, after making disparaging remarks about Justin Baldoni. And later, special guest Jackie Goldschnieder talks about the final season of RHONJ, puts her lawyer cap on to discuss Blake vs. Baldoni, and opens up about her experience with eating disorders. Give Me That D: A Disney Channel Original Movie Breakdown Podcast
Calling all witches! This week on GMTD, we are wrapping up the iconic Halloweentown franchise with Return to Halloweentown! And here to help us, as is tradition, are Maggie Smith and Kyle Mantegna of the Roommate Lovers podcast! This movie has a lot going on, but the most notable (and questionable) thing is that Marnie, our main character, is RE-CAST! Halloweentown without Kimberly J. Brown feels downright disrespectful (though we do love Ms. Sara Paxton). Not to worry though, there's plenty of things to make up for it. Like, no magic being allowed at a Witch University, (Ok?? What's the point???), time travel, witches phoning each other through soup pots and washing machines, an ancient prophecy, a new crush on an old enemy, and a really, really bad witch's broom. Katelyn couldn't be here this week (she's experiencing deep FOMO) but she can attest that this episode is a goodie! Have funnnnn!
Time to revisit a nostalgic Halloween favorite, Halloweentown! Megan and Jeni chat all about the making of the movie (including its origin story as a series for adults), details you may have missed, and the cast — Kimberly J. Brown, Debbie Reynolds, and Judith Hoag. Plus, they deep dive on the biggest question we all have about the series: Why did they recast Marnie in Return to Halloweentown? Follow us on social! “Being normal is vastly overrated” We open up Spooky Season 6 welcoming special guest (and Disney Channel Historian) Allison McClain Merrill to discuss the fabulously nostalgic Halloweentown. We talk meeting Kimberly J. Brown (and each other) at 90s Con Tampa and lament over all the content Disney Plus refuses to give us (hello, Life-Size and In A Heartbeat). Plus, the lasting power of Disney Channel Original Movies and what they taught us about ourselves. And, Kaycee once again brings everything back around to Pretty Little Liars. Note: This episode discusses Harry Potter in the context of children's fantasy and pop culture in the 90s/early 2000s, but this podcast absolutely does not endorse J.K. Rowling's transphobic views. Welcome Back to Halloweentown...or the human world? or Canada? This week, we took a journey back to the Halloweentown Cinematic Universe with our guest Tori Potenza. Tori is a staff writer on Movie Jawn, as well as a host of the Killer Bs Podcast. This movie brought us some incredibly important questions like...1. What does an inter portal permission slip look like?2. Why do the Cromwell girlies have such bad taste in men?3. Who will take charge of the iconification (re-iconification?) of Betty Boop4. Is this now an overall Debbie Stan account? All this and more in this week's episode of Disney Deviants!

Disney's Halloweentown star Kimberly J. Brown kicks off the Art of Kindness podcast's No Tricks, Only Treats - a Halloween spooktacular with Robert Peterpaul featuring giveaways, ghoulishly good interviews, and more. The actress talks all things kindness, growing up in the spotlight, working with the legendary Debbie Reynolds and, of course, shares behind-the-scenes treats from the Halloweentown franchise. While Kimberly J. Brown is perhaps most known for Halloweentown, she is an award-winning powerhouse who's rocked every medium. By age 9 she had appeared on Broadway in shows like: “Les Miserables” and the Tony-winning revival of “Showboat.” She went then on to rock TV, earning an Emmy nomination for “Marah Lewis,”on TV's longest running daytime drama, “Guiding Light,” which she played from 1993-1998 and in 2006. Other TV credits include “Law & Order: SVU,” “Touched By An Angel,” “Two of a Kind,” and more. More recently, she was seen in her recurring roles in the popular ABC soap opera “General Hospital,” the “Crossword Mysteries” movie series on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel. On the feature film side, right out of the gate Kimberly earned rave reviews and an Independent Spirit Award for her role in the indie film Tumbleweeds. Some other film highlights include playing John Travolta and Uma Thurman's assistant in Be Cool, she starred opposite Steven Martin and Queen Latifah in Bringing Down the House. Though she was also in the Disney Channel Original Movie Quints, she is stitched onto the fabric of pop culture for her magical turn as Marnie in Halloweentown 1, 2 and 3! Follow Kimberly J. PATRON MOVIE REVIEW: This movie was selected by my patron supporters over at the Cinematic Doctrine Patreon. Support as little as $3 a month and have your voice heard! It's October! Finally! Time to bring out the creepy skeletons, spooky candles, and eat loads of candy! And what better way to start out this Spooky-Season than watching Halloweentown? That's the thought-process of my Patron Supporters who, for the month of September, voted in a Patron-exclusive poll for me to review Halloweentown! And you know what? That's awesome! So grab that pumpkin spice latte, toss on your sweatpants, get comfy, and get ready to go on a needlessly long adventure as I not only talk about Halloweentown as a movie, but also compare its modern depiction of magic against what we read about magic in Scripture (more specifically, Deuteronomy 18:9-11). Yeeeeeup. It sure is a weird episode, but it'll still be fun... right? Tune in weekly for new episodes of Cinematic Doctrine! Halloweentown is Rated TV PG but has no detailed certificate. So, here's my own certificate: Frightening images, and mild violence. It features Debbie Reynolds, Judith Hoag, and Kimberly J. Brown. Directed by Duwayne Dunham. WHERE ARE THEY NOW?: On today's episode, we slide down the mysterious rabbit hole that is the barren reality of the cast of Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. That is Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Koutz of Halloweentown fame.

You may know Kimberly J. Brown from the hit movie series Halloweentown that first premiered in 1998. Since the premiere, Kimberly has appeared in three Halloweentown movies, and has starred in tons of other hit shows along the way. She's 32, and has been in the industry since she was 6 years old, performing, acting, and producing. Over the past ten years, she has proven that hollywood stars can stay grounded and focused on their work. Kimberly won an Independent Spirit Award for her performance in an indie film, which she says was totally unlike working on a high budget TV show like Law & Order: SVU. When she's not acting and attending casting calls, you can find her mentoring other actors, working on her YouTube channel, and writing children's' books. We had the chance to meet with her at our new studio in Culver City, CA and ask her everything about the entertainment industry and what people should know before they move to Hollywood to become a star. Oh, and we might've touched on those overnight sensations. Follow Kimberly at @officialkjb on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube!
