This week on Everybody in the Pool, we're looking at a climate tech company that's a Kickstarter graduate with a surprisingly action-movie sounding solution to reforestation. Flash Forest is using drones that fire (harmless) seed projectiles at the ground to help automate and speed up reforestation. Co-founder Cameron Jones tells Molly how the mission to plant a billion trees was sparked by personal experiences with wildfire devastation in Canada, inspiring him to start the business with his brother. He shares insights on the challenges and triumphs of launching a Kickstarter-funded venture, turning innovative ideas into a reality. Stay tuned as we continue our miniseries on Kickstarter's success stories next week with Jonathan Cedar of BioLite.LINKS:Flash ForestCameron JonesAll episodes: https://www.everybodyinthepool.com/Subscribe to the Everybody in the Pool newsletter: https://www.mollywood.co/Become a member and get an ad-free version of the podcast: https://plus.acast.com/s/everybody-in-the-poolPlease subscribe and tell your friends about Everybody in the Pool! In this episode, Michelle Frechette and Corey Maass delve into their experiences with product marketing for a WordPress plugin focused on open graph images. They highlight the significance of customer feedback, better onboarding processes, and innovative marketing strategies inspired by Spotify's year-end wrap-up feature. The discussion is peppered with personal anecdotes and humor, creating a light-hearted yet informative atmosphere. They explore ideas like using AI for targeted landing pages, conducting visitor interviews, and improving their website design to better reflect their brand. The episode concludes with a sense of camaraderie and optimism for their ongoing projects.Top Takeaways:Focus on the Problem and Solution: Corey emphasized the importance of clearly defining the problem OMGIMG solves. This includes addressing specific pain points, like the "image roulette" problem, where inconsistent images affect branding and engagement. Focusing on the problem in copy helps ensure users immediately see OMGIMG's relevance to their needs.Strategic Use of AI as a Creative Partner: Corey is using AI as a tool for creating, organizing, and refining content. This iterative approach—from generating headlines to drafting entire plugins—allows him to quickly put ideas on paper, then tweak them. Michelle also mentioned wanting to lean more on AI, which could further help streamline content creation and brainstorming.Customer-Specific Landing Pages: Corey mentioned creating landing pages targeted at specific customer types, like bloggers, to highlight relevant features and value propositions. This strategy makes it easier for users to see exactly how OMGIMG fits their needs and helps make the messaging more personalized and effective.Interactive Feedback with Visitor Interviews: The idea of using visitor interviews and live feedback sessions with WordPress community members (like Cameron and Marcus) was discussed as a way to gather insights on the product in real-time. This feedback could be essential for fine-tuning both the product and its messaging.Mentioned In The Show:Mark WestguardThis Week In WordPressNathan WrigleyIPA WPJustin WelschSaturday Solopreneur Otter AI Alan FullerFullworks PluginsSet AppBeaver builderClaude AIChris LemaCameron Jones

Cameron Jones is a New Zealand actor. If you're an old fan of Shortland Street, you may remember him from that. He cut his teeth as Dallas Jones the ambulance driver in Shorties ten years ago.He was also in the Hobbit movies, a Christmas movie with Dolly Parton and has a brand new movie called Home Kills which has been showing as part of the NZFF.I didn't know much about Cam prior to this conversation. But I learned so much- what his dad thought about his career choice as an actor and the final conversation they had before his dad passed away, the stress of trying to break into the LA acting scene, the bizarre thing he got offered thousands of dollars to do, his struggles with his mental wellbeing and much more.A mutual friend of ours suggested I get Cam on as a guest and he didn't disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know more about him and I hope you do too. Thanks to Radix Nutrition for sponsoring this episode.I start every day with a protein shake made with protein powder from Radix. They honestly do the best flavors made with the best ingredients. They have just introduced 2 new flavors to their range – mango and blueberry. Bonus Content from Majestic Jam I'm Not Crazy In August of 1578, 115 settlers arrived on Roanoke Island, off the coast of North Carolina. It was the second attempt by settlers to create an outpost there, and they were once again met with difficulties. It was decided that Governor John White would sail back to England for provisions, leaving a wife, daughter, and granddaughter. In August of 1580, John White returned to his family and community, but when he arrived all of the settlers had mysteriously disappeared. One of the only clues for him to work off of was the letters “Cro” carved into a tree. No one from the community was ever seen again. Deion Sanders has a very interesting way of recruiting for Jackson State. He calls it the 40-40-20 method. This is 40% grad transfers, 40% from the portal, and 20% from high school. I look at if this is a good method or not and then also the benefits and consequences from this. Eddie George has built up a nice program at Tennessee State. This is only his first year however they have achieved more success than in previous years. At 5-6 I think Tennessee State is on the rise. George should benefit, and the school should too, from the coach being able to pick his own players in recruitment for the first time since he was hired. The way South Carolina state started the year it may have caused you some concern, but as of late they have really heated up. The team is moving through TJ Madlock and Cameron Jones.
