On this week's episode of the Like a Boss Podcast, I was joined by Kristin Molenaar who shared how to build a business with less stress. This is a topic that I know everybody needs to hear, regardless of what stage of business you're at.    Let's dive in!   What do you think is the biggest stress caused in the entrepreneurial world? “Listening to others' advice. When I quit my corporate job, I thought that because I was a great employee, I'd be a great entrepreneur. I thought I was becoming an entrepreneur to have all this freedom and design my life but ultimately what happened is I did what everybody else told me to do. It was horrible. So I set out on this other path where I didn't care what everybody was telling me to do, I just needed to do the thing that's fastest.”   What do you think about people saying… ‘I can do it, so I should do it'? “When you look at what belongs on the to-do list of an entrepreneur, it's a lot of thinking, a lot of being in a creative space, doing connection work which sometimes requires mindset shifts. So an entrepreneur's to do list is actually quite short, but it's the mental stuff that has the most impact. Because of that, many entrepreneurs find it's much easier to take on the administrative stuff because it feels more tangible.”    What are some of the warning signs of stress overload?  “A lot of times it has to do with some of the technology that we need to do in our business especially with the people at the very beginning stage. People think that they have to know and do all the things and they end up spending hours doing or researching about it. And then they hit a snag and think that they suck as an entrepreneur and will never succeed. Things like that happening in your business that are sending you on this massive roller coaster ride are a huge warning sign. The mental gymnastics isn't just costing you hours but it's also costing you growth, because you've now stalled everything, you've stalled the important work to get this thing done. The key to reversing these trends is considering how you can keep things simple, or find somebody else to do it for you.”   What would you say to the women dealing with stress in their business right now? “First step is to eliminate all non essentials. Look at how you are marketing and monetizing your business. Does it align with your heart? Does it align with the way that you show up your zone of genius? And then look at the monetization side.  After you've looked at these two things, you need to look at the data. Too often I find that people are stressed out because they're doing too many things. And unfortunately, too many things means not doing one thing deep enough or consistent enough to be successful. There are hundreds of ways to market your business, and all of them can be right if you choose to be consistent enough in them. But if you choose to do too many of them at once, none of them are going to be right because you're not doing it long enough to gather data or figure out how to make it work.”   About Kristin: Kristin Molenaar is an entrepreneur enthusiast who lives by the mantra “work less, make more” which enabled her to build a 6-figure business while working an average of just 5 hours per week.   Connect with Kristin on LinkedIn.   Connect with me outside the podcast!  Continue the conversation in the Market Like a Boss Facebook Group.  Want to get a new client this month? DTRH Episode 52  Podcasting: Create Real Connections that Matter Ft. Kristin Molenaar Podcasting is a fun yet challenging way to make genuine long-term connections. Whether you're podcasting for business or pleasure—they're great for finding new clients or partners. It's an effective way to build strong relationships quickly. Invite your #1 prospect as a guest on your podcast. By the end (assuming all went well), it's almost guaranteed they'll be open to talking business with you.    Key Takeaways:  Focus on providing value to educate listeners—do not flaunt your status... NO ONE CARES!  People listen to podcasts for a few reasons: educate themselves, entertain themselves, or improve actions/behavior. No one cares how many awards you've won, how successful you are, or how much money you make. It's irrelevant and comes off as egotistical and arrogant.    Never sell or pitch anything... Again, NO ONE CARES!  People do not listen to podcasts to hear a sales pitch. They would talk to one of the million sales reps who are constantly hounding them over their LinkedIn DMs to have that kind of experience.  Publish podcast episodes consistently—never "forget" to post an episode.  If you're a podcaster and publish episodes weekly, be sure to release them at the exact same time on the same day, NO MATTER WHAT. If you skip a beat, your listenership will drop like a rock.  Use dialogue to build and strengthen your relationship with the host or guest.  The conversation between the host(s) and guest(s) is generally quite intimate. Podcasts are a fantastic way to truly get to know people and make a strong, genuine connection in a short period of time. Use that to your advantage, whether you're the one hosting or featuring.    "Dig deep. Focus on your existing connections instead of [trying to build] additional surface-level relationships."  - Kristin Molenaar, CEO at YesBoss    About Kristin  Kristin Molenaar is an entrepreneur-enthusiast who lives by the mantra "work less and make more." (Kristin explains her gold nugget research strategy, “follow the influencer path.”) ○ Keep them: Look for additional collaboration opportunities with the host. In episode 43 of The Podcast Podcast, I am joined by Kristin Molenaar to talk all about how you can leverage guest interviews to grow your business. Kristin is an entrepreneur enthusiast who lives by the mantra: Work less, Make more. This has enabled her to build a 6 figure business while only working about 5 hours a week. She is also the CEO and Founder of YesBoss Va where they help mission-oriented entrepreneurs generate leads and establish themselves as Thought Leaders through strategic podcast guest outreach.   Some of the topics I discuss in this episode include:   How Kristin got involved with helping entrepreneurs land huge podcast gigs.  The beauty of treating your business like a business.  What it means to be a podcast guest.  The formula behind showing up with intent to guest interviews.  You are not going to get a response from every single host, and that's okay!   I hope this episode was incredibly valuable for all of you looking to leverage podcast guest interviews for your business. She also shares how making connections with the host and audience through being a podcast guest can, not only help increase your leads and profits but can also help you establish connects that may possibly be of help to you and your business in the future. Check out these episode highlights: 01:10 - Kristin's ideal client: “My ideal client is a service-based business owner, typically somebody who has built their business on referrals. They've proven to the market that they know what they're doing, and they have that methodology down.” 01:37 - Problem Kristin helps solve: “Yeah, consistently it's, you know, our focus on being a podcast guest like that strategy is really for us. It's networking on steroids. So, if you know that the referral model works for you, that if people know about you, they will refer people to you.” 02:50 - Typical symptoms that clients do before reaching out to Kristin: “I think that a lot of times, our clients are frustrated by the tech-heavy solutions. They're frustrated by the gurus that are talking about passive income. If you really distil that down, I think what happens and what you see at the root of that is they're missing connection.” 03:48 - Common mistakes that people make before they find Kristin's solution: “So this looks a few different ways but at the root of what I think the common mistake is, is they're putting too many barriers between them and the people that they serve.” 05:09 - Kristin's Valuable Free Action (VFA): “Stop focusing on just the audience and start focusing on the people.” 06:51 - Kristin's Valuable Free Resource (VFR): Check out Kristin's Website: www.yesbossva.com/podcastguest 07:28 - Q: How do I know that this works? A: The best people that have come to me have heard me on a podcast or it been introduced to me by a podcast host, and they're pre-sold. They know that they want what I offer. So just be connected to people. Tweetable Takeaways from this Episode: “Stop focusing on just the audience and start focusing on the people.” -Kristin MolenaarClick To Tweet Transcript (Note, this was transcribed using a transcription software and may not reflect the exact words used in the podcast) Tom Poland 00:09 Greetings everyone and another very warm welcome to yet another edition of Marketing The Invisible. On today's show, Kristin Molenaar, founder of Yes Boss VA, talks about how to use virtual assistants to help with the smaller business tasks while you work on the higher-level items that drive your business forward. Kristin didn't start as an entrepreneur, even though she always felt entrepreneurial. Her early career was in the beauty industry, but feeling stifled in her corporate job, she walked away to start her own business in 2014. She tried consulting in the beauty industry, since that's where her experience was, but she quickly realized she didn't really like the industry. The first year out of her 9-5 was a struggle, but was determined to make it work. Rather than force something, she started taking freelance jobs. She picked up clients here and there and eventually grew to a point where her husband could quit his job and she could focus full-time on building the business. Eventually, she built her business into what it is today, Yes Boss VA, a service where Kristin helps solo entrepreneurs accelerate their business development by using her network of VAs. In this episode, she talks about her entrepreneurial journey and what it means to be a leader in your business. “I find that a lot of entrepreneurs are very stressed out and they're really lonely. These things could be avoided completely if you put a proper team in place.” In this episode Avani and Kristin talk about: How you can hire a VA, even if you're a new entrepreneur. A CEO's job as a leader and a new perspective on how to move your team forward. Kristin's three-step blueprint to making more money while working less. Main Takeaways As a CEO and entrepreneur, it's important to start working with a team as soon as possible. This helps relieve the stress of small daily items and lets you work as the visionary your business needs. VAs are helpful for taking care of tasks that you might've ended up pouring hours of research into if you tried to do it yourself. Your VA can also record themselves doing a task in case you have to do it again in the future. Get your VAs involved with your vision and communicate with them. This makes running your business less lonely and you'll be able to lean on them for support as a team. Leadership is more than leading followers. Much of the time it means leading a team of leaders. What that means for you as a leader is that you should be helping these individuals step into their leadership roles much like a mentor would. As entrepreneurs and creatives, we need to stop looking at each other as competition and start looking at each other as community. In this episode, I am talking to the Founder of Relevant Entrepreneur about how we can identify our own zone of genius and surround yourself with people who know more than we do.    Kristin Molenaar is the President and Founder of relevantentrepreneur.com, an online platform that exists to equip and empower women to pursue their God-given business dreams. Kristin is passionate about helping others discern God's call on their life and then encouraging them to take bold action.    To access the show notes, head over to www.thecouragecast.com.
