We are back for another great interview in our Entelechy Series In today's episode, we chat with Tames Rietjek. Tames is an accomplished C-Level Executive with expertise and proven successes in financial markets, sustainability performance, financial crime prevention, stakeholder management, and business data science. Currently, Tames is the Business Development at Ocean Cleanup, a company whose mission is to rid the oceans of plastic. He was first involved with environmental impact when he developed and launched an exchange in carbon emission rights, and carbon credits under the Kyoto protocol. Under this project, they were cleaning up dirty air, also known as the abusive consequences of economic development. The project was intended to have countries share the burden of the cost of global warming. However, the market on the Kyoto protocol was flooded with financial crime which took away the basis of trust in the carbon credit itself. It was during a raid by the national security agencies at the Euro exchanges in carbon credits who were investigating the number of criminal transactions that were facilitated by those exchanges. Tames was responsible for financial crime prevention and regulatory compliance and risk management of the Exchange, which proved to be the one where they could not find any criminal transaction. There are about 30,000 to 35,000 rivers in the world. But only about 1000 rivers are responsible for 80% to 85% of the plastic that reaches the ocean. Most of these rivers are located in Southeast Asia & Central and South America. This already reduces the problem to very specific geographic areas. Oceans cleanup believes that by taking one step at a time, we could get rid of all the legacy plastic that's in the ocean. The journey started by involving a very scientific and technology-driven approach by first identifying the problem and running a few pilot projects to see what technology and what approach would serve the solution best. The ocean is filled with legacy plastics because of a lack of filtered systems from when the plastic is consumed to when it ends up in the ocean. Tames and his team are now deploying river technology solutions that catch plastic or catch trash before it reaches the ocean. So to not only take out the legacy plastic but also make sure that the tap is closed and it doesn't continue to grow. When it comes to leading a team working on trying to find solutions in search of a complex project, a lot of team dynamics come into play. As a leader, the organization itself is spending a lot of time and effort to facilitate that psychological safety. People are encouraged to speak up. We have a lot of group meetings. We share a lot of the knowledge internally and everyone's invited to chip in their, 2 cents. In summary, the way to effect this change is to change the mindset of people and the society as a whole. We are back for another great interview in our Entelechy Series In today's episode, we chat with Jinny Uppal, an award-winning author, business leader, and team builder. She has over 20+ year track record of driving transformational growth in Fortune 500 telecom, e-commerce, and retail businesses including companies like Khol, Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy's, IBM, etc Jinny's recent book titled IN/Action: Rethinking the path to results, where she helps you leverage the power of a thoughtful pause to discover newer paths to great results while exploring the downside of the prevalent cultural bias toward unnecessary and counter-productive action. The book captures insights into the benefits of reflective thinking and thoughtful pauses while presenting a less stressful and more efficient way of achieving more by “doing” less. Jinny got inspired to write this book after she found herself without a conventional job in 2020, she had always worked in a highly structured environment where action-oriented people were valued, and not being in this kind of space really distressed her. At that low point of her life, Jinny self-analyzed and realized her career had a couple of pivots. Every time she was about to start a new career, she had come from a moment of downtime. This period of non-action made her realize that what really drives great progress is inaction. Jinny gives a few pointers on how to help inaction give you results: Strategic inaction implies a choice. If you're thinking long-term, its being here for the long game. It's not about doing this today for the sake of doing it. It's doing this because you want to live to see another day. If you're working in a very complex and dynamic environment, very often the thing to do is wait for better information to come along or wait for things to sort themselves out. So you are not interfering with the flow of what's happening. People who are very action-oriented, are almost overacting at this point. You don't need to because you're wasting your own mental bandwidth, physical time, and doing things that are not needed. In the book, she stresses it's all about taking thoughtful pauses, long enough for creative ideas to come through. Letting intuition make room for creation to come through you, as opposed to you chasing the idea. As a leader, you can't mandate your people to change but if you live this way yourself as a leader and people see the consequences, the change in your behavior they will do what you are doing. When it comes to team collaboration, the pause experienced enhances communication. The power of verbal silence in conversations, negotiations, in team meetings. There's a science to prove that something as simple as a thoughtful pause of a few seconds in a meeting just leads to better outcomes for a team meeting. In conclusion, the first steps you can start doing are building restorative habits and giving yourself intermittent breaks throughout the day. Very few people truly control their schedules. You can't take a day off or days off at once, but instead, develop a habit of taking 10-minute breaks once a day, or a couple of times a week and do nothing, allowing your mind to declutter. You can connect with Jinny on the following platforms Jinny's Website: https://www.jinnyuppal.com/ (jinnyupal.com) LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jinnyuppal/ (jinnyupal) Book: https://www.jinnyuppal.com/book (IN/ACTION: Rethinking the path into results) Jinny Uppal Jinny Uppal is a technology and business strategist and senior leader with a 20+ year career growing and transforming Fortune 500 telecom, ecommerce and retail businesses. We are back for another great interview in our Entelechy Series. In today's episode, we chat with Geeta Sidhu Robb. She is an Author, Speaker, Life Coach, CEO & Founder Nosh Detox. She also sits on the board of a Montessori group and is the Chair of Women's Development Board, a Microloan Foundation a women's empowerment and poverty alleviation charity supporting women in Southern Africa. Geeta's story starts when she was very successful but suddenly she lost everything and had to start her life from scratch. This included having to live with her friend as she looked for a new job. That was where Geeta started https://noshdetox.com/ (noshdetox.com) which is an organic food and juice program delivery business back in 2008. As a business leader and a charity chair, Geeta believes in living & leading from her purpose. Standing up for what you believe in and having the courage to change the course of the river. As the chair of Microloan Foundation, Geeta says that the benefits of empowering one woman has a ripple effect in that she uses the resources to grow her family, and benefit the community at large. She says that the moment we start to see the world as a community, then we are able to contribute to not just cases in the developing world but right where you are in your neighborhood. Geeta encourages corporates to have more compassion and not just take resources but remember that the priority is on the people who live in those communities where the resources are found. Her work in Montessori teaches children to grow at their own pace so that they don't feel wrong about not growing at someone else's pace. This eventually creates strong and stable adults. She is now scaling this model of teaching children to areas that have refugee children. In that way, breaking the vicious cycle of children who are faced with trauma and that's all they grow up knowing. In conclusion, Geeta says Change is inevitable and suffering is totally optional. So you must constantly work on yourself because you are the biggest impediment to your own growth. We are back for another great interview in our Entelechy Series In today's episode, we chat with Anita Gardyne, the CEO of Onēva, an in-home care platform allowing enterprises and government agencies to connect employees and their families with trusted caregivers and service providers. Onēva technology app connects FBI background check caregivers who provide in-home services like infant/child care, elder care, special needs care, pet care with individuals or companies offering their employees benefits such as these. Anita grew up in the 80s when she went to UC Berkley to study economics & economics in Black communities. One of the eye-opening lessons for her was seeing the disparity in neighborhoods & communities based on their color. A good example of this was despite growing up in Richmond California, which was next to Silicon Valley, her community never seemed to grow from it. She later got an MBA in economics & economics in the black community. While she studied, she also worked in technology for AT&T and later on moved up in her career to join companies such as Levi Straus, Bell & Seagate. All along Anita had at the back of her mind how growing up, she was her family's caregiver. She had to take care of her niece and nephews who were autistic. Fast forward to years later, Anita had to stay home to raise her children while taking care of her parents, When it was time to go back to work, she tried to find a caregiver to fill her needs of taking care of her parents and her children but, she couldn't find a caregiver she trusted to look after her family. Anita identified a gap in the homecare system and built Onēva to fill it. Onēva, brings a blend of technology (AI), emotional intelligence (EI), and Spiritual Intelligence (SI). Onēva means Trust. One of the benefits of using Onēva is that it's an employee benefits app. Through strong mentorship and partnership with Microsoft and Acrisure, Anita and her team have been able to build into the app a section where employers can add Onēva into their HR systems so that employees can benefit from having access to trusted care and in turn helps employers attract and retain employees. In addition to this, Onēva is bridging the gap between unskilled/skilled workers getting access to well-paying jobs in that the caregivers on the platform are able to set their own rates and hours, therefore creating new small business owners, and leveling the playing field. In conclusion, Anita wants entrepreneurs to know that every founder has their own journey and every journey has lessons in the form of challenges. You can find more information about Onēva on Onēva Website: https://www.oneva.com/ (Onēva.com) LinkedIn:https://www.linkedin.com/in/agardyne/ (Anita Gardyne) Anita Gardyne Copyright (c) 2020-2022 Kirstin Gooldy
Today, we talk with Troy Akin, the founder of Eco Sports. Troy's story: "I was an NCAA tennis player that always had a passion for health and marketing. I turned vegan for health reasons in 2019. I was playing golf with another vegan friend one day and he asked if my golf glove was vegan. I didn't even think about the fact that sports products could be vegan. After going down the rabbit hole, just about every sport uses animal products mainly including leather for Balls. But even Tennis uses sheep skin in their tennis balls. Not to mention most of these products you can't recycle or aren't biodegradable. I sought to change that. So In November 2021, Eco Sports is releasing Eco Friendly sporting goods. We will continue to add more products each quarter so we can be the go-to sporting goods store to a) help save the planet; b) have a non-animal product option; and c) exceed the quality and durability of sporting goods currently out there. Troy Akin https://ecosports.com (Troy's Website) Eco Sports is a sustainable sporting goods company. With Global Warming, Animal Welfare, and a Less Toxic work environment in mind, Eco Sports was created. Eco Sports uses a Biodegradable, Recyclable, Vegan material for all its Sporting Goods with can't be found in mainstream Sporting Good Stores. This material is as durable and high quality as any pig or cow skin. Our initial products are focusing on enhancing leather intensive products like Basketballs, Footballs, Soccer Balls, Volleyballs, and Baseball Gloves. Eco Sports is also committed to making the packaging sustainable and to never use plastic or aluminum. Eco Sports promises to give back by donating 10% of the profits immediately to plant trees across the nation on the consumers behalf. Welcome to another great episode of Entelechy Leadership Series. This is the first time in our podcast that we have brought back a previous Guest. Today we are joined by John David Mann, who was here on episode 87 talking about the Go-Giver series & Who Moved My Cheese. He is joined by his co-author and wife Ana Gabriel Mann and together they have written the book Go-Giver Marriage: A little story about the Five Secrets to Lasting Love. Ana is a clinical psychiatrist and a licensed family therapist and now an author, while John is the author of the Go-Giver series. John and Ana have been together for 25 years, 10 of those were when they working together and 15 of them have been in Marriage. Their new book the Go-Giver marriage has been in the works since 2005 and has followed the same structure as the Go-Giver series. The book combines parables and practical steps to achieve your goal. At the same time the book has now evolved into a training program for not just married couples but individuals too, with coaches accessible to individuals or teams where the 5 secrets are discussed in depth In this book, Ana and John give their readers 5 secrets of how to have lasting love in their marriage and relationships with other people. This book is both a business book as well as a personal growth book because many entrepreneurs want to know how to balance their work and have a healthy, happy marriage and family life. It focuses on the daily steps that you can apply to change the negative habits, and shift your mindset and behaviors so as to change the dynamic of your marriage. With a focus on letting go of past baggage, communicating apologies, and having a spirit of generosity towards your spouse. A Philosophy that comes out in the book is the way to change your marriage, isn't by working on the marriage per se, but it's by working on yourself. In conclusion, marriage isn't a zero-sum game where we think that if I give you this, then I won't have it. By using the spirit of generosity, it means if for example by giving your partner time in your busy schedule it means you care for them, therefore making your relationship richer. It can be viewed as a rising tide that floats both boats. Ana Gabriel Mann, M.A., holds a Master's degree in clinical psychology and dance-movement therapy from Antioch New England, where she specialized in working with adults and family therapy. She went on to train and work with renowned Israeli-born therapist Dr. Ruth Holt, a marriage and family specialist who taught couples to identify their patterns of dysfunction and cultivate “love maps” based on Dr. John Gottman's landmark research. Together they led a highly successful series of therapy groups that gave couples a window into the dynamics of the other marriages in the room. Following her work with Holt, Ana served as clinical director for a New England–based program providing county-wide therapy, education, and services for family members caring for individuals with Alzheimer's disease; and as adjunct faculty and student trainer for Antioch New England, utilizing movement therapy to draw on long-term memory in individuals with Alzheimer's disease to facilitate emotional connection and wholeness. In 1984 she cofounded the New England Institute for Integrative Acupressure, New England's first college of Chinese medicine, where she co-led programs through 1997. For the past two decades, Ana has worked primarily as a corporate consultant, speaker, trainer, and business coach in both profit and nonprofit sectors. In addition to coaching and teaching the 5 Secrets to Lasting Love, she is the creator and lead facilitator of the Go-Giver Marriage Coaches training program. She is married to John David Mann, her coauthor for “The Go-Giver Marriage.” John David Mann is an award-winning author whose writings have earned the Nautilus Award, the Axiom Business Book Award (Gold Medal), Taiwan's Golden Book Award for...

We are back for another great interview in our Entelechy Series, with Phil Johnson https://www.linkedin.com/in/philipjpjohnson/ (https://www.linkedin.com/in/philipjpjohnson/) In today's episode, we talk about emotional intelligence. World Economic Forum defines it as one of the top 10 must-have skills that will enable us as individuals & businesses to embrace change and raise our consciousness. Our guest today is Phil Johnson, He is the founder & CEO of Master of Business Leadership (MBL) Program, an executive coach, a teacher & mentor, a lecturer & keynote Speaker, a Podcast Co-Host, and a revenue growth career advancement coach. Phil was born with dyslexia, therefore he had difficulty trying to spell, read, and occasionally hear. It caused him to re-arrange words and numbers in his mind. As a result, he had to rely more on his intuition, which helped him to get greater insight into himself and other people. After the death of his mother at age of 14, he decided he wanted to change his life. He became this super overachiever and ended up spending 20 years in the semiconductor industry, finishing as an executive. After 20 years in the industry, Phil realized that there was a huge need to change humanity's trajectory to change the way we did things and the way we do things. That motivated him to create the Master of Business leadership Program. What is Emotional Intelligence and what does it look like? Its benefits are that it reduces the drama and chaos both within the individual and around the individual, You become less resistive, less judgemental, less attached to outcomes, and that enables you to see an individual and see ourselves for who we really are, thereby making leaders more trusted and inspirational. What is the ROI on applying higher consciousness and market valuation to organizations and businesses? We're at the very start of the development of a multitrillion-dollar industry because of the tsunami of change we're facing in the development of our emotional intelligence. Isn't a solution to the challenges we face. It's the only solution to the challenges we face. Both our educational system and employment have failed humanity in that they focused on the development,-Not the development, but the enhancement of our intellectual ability. These structures did very little to develop our emotional intelligence and really our IQ and EQ are meant to work together. Not everybody's born with a high IQ but anybody can develop their emotional intelligence since It's an experiential process. People aren't born with emotional intelligence it's developed. You've developed this kind of five-part teaching and coaching program for executives that, that begins or applies that consciousness first to the root cause and analysis that says, where are we? Why does that kind of start with authenticity and understanding and truth-telling from the executive's point of view? If you're wondering where to begin on your own path of Emotional Intelligence, you can start with developing an emotional connection to a vision of some desired result you want to achieve. That emotional connection becomes the fuel for the journey. You must have a desire to achieve some outcome that's greater than your fear of leaving your comfort zone. Because the development of emotional intelligence is an experiential process, rather than an intellectual process. You can only really connect the dots in hindsight after you've taken the leap of faith. It always requires an initial leap of faith based on a vision of the desired result that's motivating you to take action. In conclusion, When it comes to people willing to work on their emotional intelligence, age, geography, industry, race, or culture are not factors. Emotional intelligence depends on where an individual is on their own journey. While for leaders who want to identify Emotional Intelligence, it's a...
In today's episode, we chat with https://www.linkedin.com/in/roncarucci/ (Ron Carucci). Ron is co-founder and managing partner at Navalent, having 35 years of experience working with CEOs and executives pursuing transformational change for their organizations, leaders, and industries, he has helped some of the world's most influential executives tackle challenges of strategy, organization, and leadership. From start-ups to Fortune 10's. He is also a bestselling author of 9 books. Recently, the award-winning book, "https://www.amazon.com/Be-Honest-Power-Justice-Purpose/dp/1398600660 (To Be Honest: Lead with the Power of Truth, Justice and Purpose)" was selected by Bloomberg Businessweek as one of 2021's Best Books. Ron and his team did a 15-year longitudinal study of more than 3,200 leaders. These included thought leaders, scholars, and world-class leaders. He wanted to give people hope that there are organizations and leaders out there living the things they want, modeling and behaving in the ways we long to experience. They aimed to understand what conditions make people lie, cheat and serve their own interests first. He thought, if he could predict/isolate the conditions that make people dishonest, then he could proliferate the conditions that produce honest behavior, and prevent the conditions that produce dishonest behavior? Based on that, Ron shared four conditions within organizations that tell us how the story's going to go. These 4 conditions include: Companies need to have a clear identity. Companies all make promises in their missions, visions, values, brand promises, their purpose statements turn out that if those words are not real lived experiences within the organization, meaning they are three times more likely to have people be dishonest. Transparency & governance At a meeting, there is transparency in the exchange of ideas. People believe that their voices and ideas are welcomed and they matter. If they want to offer a dissenting view or an alternative interpretation of data, they are free to do so. This means the company is three and a half times more likely to have people be honest and tell the truth. Accountability If the systems of how you measure and talk about contribution are seen as fair and dignified. Everyone has as much chance of being successful as anybody else. This means, if the systems are seen as fair dignified, people are four times more likely to have people be honest. Cross-functional rivalries Across companies, every system/department has healthy tensions in it, but if those tensions have nowhere to go and conflict remains unresolved and people have nowhere to reconcile those seams, the company becomes fragmented. On the other hand, if there is coherence in that organization, if the seams are stitched well, then people are able to collaborate in a way to resolve decisions or conflicts. That means they are six-time likely to have people behave, honestly, because they are now part of the same story. In conclusion, Ron suggests this action: Taking your company's promise, or mission statement, or value statement, and asking your team hard questions such as “ How well do we embody this promise? How well do I embody this promise? If somebody followed us around with a video camera all day long and a day in the life of our team, could they use that video as a training program for this promise? Ask yourself, the hard question of who is your they? Who's the person in another department that you're required to collaborate with, that when you see them in the caller ID, you roll your eyes and go, oh, what do they want? WHY JOHN WROTE THE OPTIMIZER"I wrote this book because I've found so many talented people in my life that never fulfilled their gifts because they see change and innovation as enormous with a high probability of failure. There is a better way. If you can build trust with your team and a safe road map for their growth, I believe everyone can be a contributor to driving incremental change in your organization. Not every idea will be an immediate game-changer. We are back for another great interview in our Entelechy Series Today we travel to British Colombia Canada where. we chat with Joel Solomon, a venture capitalist, fund manager, author, public speaker, board member, and honoree of a myriad of achievements across Canada and the world. Joel is the Co-Founding Partner at Renewal Funds- a $240 million mission venture capital firm that invests in Organics and EnviroTech in Canada and the USA, and is an authority in the current social movement towards revolutionizing capitalism into something different and powerful, towards a clean money revolution., and as a result, he has co-authored of the book: https://joelsolomon.org/book/ (the clean money revolution: Reinventing power, purpose, and capitalism) A lot of Joel's influences stem from having an artistic mother, an entrepreneurial father, and a family involved in politics that engaged him as he was growing up in the sixties to talk about issues affecting the politics at that time including issues such as the civil rights act, the police riots, the student riots of 1968, the war in Vietnam, Kent State shootings, among others, influenced him to know that what he chose to do with his life in regards to capitalism and interaction with the society around him, would matter how his contribution made a difference. We spoke to Joel about the impact of having a $250 million venture fund can make in this journey of revolutionizing capitalism and how he has been able to bring the creativity, ingenuity found in entrepreneurship into modern society. Renewal Fund works with entrepreneurs who are aligned with the kinds of values that we shared here. These are people who can see the deeper picture of where resources come from, how labor is found, and treated, how waste products are created and disposed of. The good news is that the consumer/ the investor, those of us who invest our retirement funds, who do business with banks in order to get a home mortgage, are starting to think and ask more questions, make new demands on going all the way back to the sources, how people are treated, how the planet is treated, how our waste is treated, and caring about future generations. The way we can bring this change is by more of us making choices at an everyday consumer level. Decisions such as Where we work, what kind of companies we associate ourselves with, those that pay attention to the political systems that we really understand and are much more connected Joel says the world is at an inflection point. There is urgency, there is ingenuity there's capacity. We have more skills to do things better with less harm. That is going steadily to increase as a moral and ethical responsibility of most of us as humans and in the systems that we create in order to make life better. There's a massive effort underway to clean up our act. Companies are now occupied by people who care about the underlying topics that we're talking about. Not simply making money at the unknown, but large costs to all kinds of other parts of the natural world. And to other humans, this conversation will keep happening. In summary, Joel wants us, consumers, to ‘read the label at the level of buying something off the supermarket shelf, read the label of your politicians, your elected officials, those who set the regulations and the rules effectively what that means is to find out the history and the sourcing and the practices, You can to make conscious choices between the worst actors and the better actors. In today's episode, we talk about how companies and individuals are trying to be more competitive not only in a changing business climate but also a changing social climate, Welcome https://lrus.wolterskluwer.com/about-us/experts/dean-sonderegger/ (Dean Sonderegger) to the Entelechy Leadership Stories podcast. Dean is Senior Vice President at https://www.wolterskluwer.com/en/about-us (Wolters Kluwer) (public company) – an information services company that provides legal, software, and business solutions. They have 19,200 employees, and in 2020, the company brought in over €4.6 billion in annual revenue and has thousands of clients – including 93% of the Fortune 500 companies. Dean says, "After spending 7 wonderful years at Wolters Kluwer in the legal markets, I've transitioned back to the tax world and am happy to share that I'm starting a new position as SVP & General Manager Canada and R&L at https://www.linkedin.com/company/wolters-kluwer/ (Wolters Kluwer)!" Dean is also a highly-desired speaker in business leadership with a focus on the rapid development of advanced digital products and services to enhance efficiencies and workflow in any organization. Some things Dean speaks about on the podcast: How smaller businesses and organizations can compete with giants like Wolters Kluwer. Innovative business practices for staying ahead of the competition. Scaling the company, coming up with a clear strategy and the future of business. Business transformation, building up remote teams, and the future of work. Dean's passion is cemented by the fact that he is an engineer. Engineers have a problem-solving mentality. For him, his purpose is to be able to solve the problem elegantly and then to bring, be able to bring a group of people along with him to do it. Some 20 years ago, the company focused on legal professionals and provided books and loose periodicals around the law. A lot of our patterns and what the company does has changed in addition how they measure value in our lives has also changed. With technology, the market is now more focused on how do you get the job done effectively, and especially for businesses and leaders, businesses have to help their organization shift to meet that new definition of value for both customers and staff. The solution is to put the customer at the focus of things, an overlay of that, along with the strong set of respect for the folks that are working the business gives you to a point from a team standpoint, where there is the ability to achieve substantial and significant things. In the absence of that, you don't get that loyalty, you don't get that drive inside the company. It's unbalanced. How does a company like Wolters Kluwer, adapt to the digital technology-driven markets today. And how do they stay relevant being a historically larger company? For Wolters Kluwer, a few methods they have used to remedy this is having people that are out actively in the marketplace to understand what's going on by talking to customers, talking to partners, looking at some innovative startups, and therefore getting people visibility into the market, starting to reset the conversation with input directly from the market When it comes to providing value to teams, as a leader you're focusing on the development of employees. That should be a two-way conversation. They should be talking to you about what they want, and then you should be able to give them some feedback on the same. While for purpose-driven companies, what should new leaders focus on? Leaders to make sure that they are providing an environment where people see purpose in the work that they do, they see opportunities for advancement, while making work more meaningful. In summary, What does Dean see on the horizon when we talk about transformation? The concept of diversity and the importance of diversity in...

Oliver Esman, Managing Partner at Strawn Arnold & Associates, leaders in executive recruitment and organizational development. Oliver's background also includes senior HR leadership roles at major companies in the pharmaceutical industry and the life sciences including Sandoz & Schein. Oliver has spent more than a decade recruiting senior executives, building management teams, and cultivating lasting relationships. As a former HR executive in the Life Sciences industry, Oliver has been intimately involved in corporate strategy and growth—not to mention fixing an array of business problems that crop up. Among the things we talk about: Which kinds of executives make the best leaders in responding to the wave of change in the workplace? What are the unique strategy challenges for life science companies? Why do some C-Suites and Boards "get it" about DEI more than others? What do transparency and authenticity actually mean and look like when practiced? Oliver says, "In the world now companies are trying to figure that out loyalty and how people stay in touch and stay valued, and it's not about money and compensation and benefit. It's about how you feel about the company." He describes, "For HR leaders, understanding that remote is okay, but you can go anywhere now and be remote, but valuing the work you do, and the products you create, and the environment that you create are very important now, and companies are trying to figure that out." Oliver shares, "While many C-Suite in the life science industry people have had to learn to communicate in a different way, it's not because their industry is dying or people can't come to work, or everybody has COVID it's because we still have a mission. So that the industry, pharmaceutical has a mission to create life-changing or life-saving products for the public or for the patient." Oliver says that communication leaders have focused on sharing the message, sharing the mission, staying on target while also protecting your health and protecting your family, and trying to balance everything. So the actual communication statements have been different. In Oliver's HR practice, "About 40% of our practices are with private equity, hedge funds, and those kinds of investor people. It turns out that whether it's a byproduct or whether it's just why we do this for a living, but there is still really, really interesting cutting edge kind of work being done, whether it's in cell therapy or certain kinds of rare diseases or biologics that investors at various levels are funding. Their mission hasn't changed but they're very focused on their return. So they do what they need to do to keep people engaged. And, there is a great deal of money still flowing into life sciences, whether it's diagnostics because of COVID and other kinds of vaccine issues." In summary, Oliver thinks that it's a generational thing as more women and minorities move up. Some of that will become a little easier, but I think that it's a hard slog for the next 10 years in lots of different industries. Email. This episode's guest is https://www.linkedin.com/in/rhinojulie/ (Rhino Julie), the founder of the camp, Rhino Gyms, and creator of the concept of the Camp Rhino. Julie tells us about how leaders need body, mind, and soul. So when we think of Camp Rhino and gyms we think about taking care of the body. However, she has found a way to go beyond just this. Julie tells us about how she used to abuse her body with excessive exercise, eating whatever she wanted, and not prioritizing her health. She needed to be an example for the gym so she needed to lose weight but didn't like to work out or eat healthily. She realized that by going into the fitness world she would have something to hold her accountable. And that's how she started. But focusing on weight loss only proved to be detrimental to her mental and physical health. Now Julie meditates and feels like she's come full cycle and can really embody the things she never thought she would: mind, body, and spirit. Meditating vs. Working out To some people, sitting cross-legged on the floor feels like an even harder task than going to the gym. Being calmed and quiet can be very hard. But why? Julie tells us that this is likely because we don't want to sit alone without thoughts. We're afraid of what might come up, what past trauma may come to the surface. But she was able to find and like a type of meditation that wasn't quite like the others she had done before. She prefers to simply sit in her window and look out while she thinks about whatever comes to her mind and doesn't put a time limit to it. Then she does free writing and after that, she reads her book. That's her form of meditation and that's what has worked for her mental health. How mind, body, and spirit connection helps with physical goals Julie is a very caring person, she would care so much for people that she would be very aggressive about wanting to help them fix whatever they wanted to fix about themselves. Now, thanks to her connection with mind, body, and spirit she can be more present. She enjoys the processes, she sits and listens, and then she looks into the person's eyes and focuses on the moment itself and not on the actions that person needs to perform to achieve their goals. Presence was such an underrated and unknown thing for Julie and now it has become one of the core values for her company. From something you love to a business When asked about when did Camp Rhino began to actually a full-on organization, Julie spoke about Scott who is an amazing gym owner in Florida. She had seen him do it and felt inspired. She knew she had worked on this for a long time and that after years of personal journey, she wanted to lose weight so he started a fitness company to help herself. Then she realized that weight loss is not the end of all issues. There are things in our minds that need to work through as well. And then she started the Rhino Life Challenge as she was trying to lead people in the group through these positive transformations that had to do with the mind and spirit. It is all-important. So then she decided not to go through the motions of everything but rather create a program that aligned with her beliefs. She also understands that some people may gain the weight back because they don't know how to keep it off or maybe they had a trauma response. There are things mentally and spiritually that also need to be worked through so that they can change their hardest non-healthy habits. Read more about Rhino Julie at www.RhinoJulie.com And don't forget to actually check her programs so you can have an idea of how it impacts and changes their lives.
We are back for another great interview in our Entelechy Series with your host Kirstin Gooldy. In today's episode, we chat with https://www.linkedin.com/in/adam-rundle-82653a3b/ (Adam Rundle). Adam is the Co-Founder of https://cleverprofits.com/ (Clever profits), an accounting firm that offers accounting, tax, and growth strategies to online entrepreneurs as fractional CFOs. He also is a leadership trainer, a coach, and a sportsman. Today's conversation will focus on how conscious leadership impacts our businesses and lives, and elevating leaders where everybody matters This concept of elevating leaders came from the book Everybody Matters written by Bob Chapman & Raj Sisodia, which focuses on the extraordinary power of caring for people in your business like family what can that can do for your business. Adam & his team attended a training facilitated by Mike Budden who runs the Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute which focused on leadership development, personal development. This experience inspired him to create a year-long mastermind for his top 10 clients around leadership. Adam's background stems from coaching rugby in South Africa, from there, he got a chance to spend 6 weeks with the All Blacks rugby team in New Zealand where he got to experience how the most successful rugby team is people-centered, coupled with a heavy family & culture orientation. He saw how this environment of care creates quality human beings. A couple of insights from Adam includes: no business will truly survive without people, and that you've got to consciously learn how to be a good leader, how to care for people, lead people and give direction yet also be show empathy. Adam also talks about why and how leaders need and can create balance in their businesses. Being able to balance conscious capitalism, conscious leadership, around caring for people and building a good culture and environment, will result in you making your profits. Additionally, you cannot work on your teams until you've worked on yourself, or are working on yourself. If you get alignment, you can then work on your teams, which you can then work on your business, and then you can move forward. A true leader must create trust, and trust is developed from consistency. consistent with just being there, being present in all you do and in all your interactions, goes a long way to building trust. Remaining consistent in everything you do is a pretty big building block to people, who want to trust someone Expectations are a real thing and, miscommunicated expectations are probably one of the biggest eroders of communication and trust and team-building Resources mentioned in this episode: Adam's Website: https://cleverprofits.com/ (Cleverprofits.com) Email :adam@cleverprofits.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/profitandgrowth (Clever profits group) Summary. You don't have to be at the forefront to be a leader. Being authentic to who you are and where best you can create impact is as profound as leading at the front. Leadership is multifaceted in every way. It's about people. So the moment you put the people first, put their needs first that's where you win. A journey of 1000 steps starts with one step, so start the journey. Thanks to the https://www.linkedin.com/company/onairbrands/ (On Air Brands) team for hosting such a terrific event and for bringing us together on #Podmax.
Welcome back everyone to our podcast. We are pumped up for today's episode with https://www.linkedin.com/in/bill-o-herron-3ab0bb1/ (Bill O'Herron). Bill wears a myriad of hats including: corporate executive involved in the capital markets, investments, and real estate; a practicing therapist; and an author. All this experience can be summarized as 33 years of financial experience, 24 years of marriage, 15 years of counseling. And he says 8,500 hours of sitting quietly and listening to other people. Bill talks to us about conscious leadership in business, vulnerability, humility in business, secrets of a great leader, and being able to hold space for someone so as to create harmony in your life. Bill shares some of the lessons he has learned in conscious leadership in business. For a leader to be successful in all their relationships including business relationships, one needs to learn how to control themselves. How people feel, determines how they behave therefore how they react. Successfully controlling this aspect, the result is leaders and individuals who can drive productivity and growth in their teams if they feel engaged and whole. Leadership is about understanding where you are in that moment. If you don't understand where you are at that moment, you will not know where you are going, you will ot know where your partner is, where your Billion-dollar client is, where your $10 client is, etc. Knowing oneself is the only way to self engaging the universe. When you as a leader know yourself, you also know your value systems, you know, your structures, you create your north star leading to you and your teams' success. Bill talks about "Vitamin V" - vulnerability, and how to be vulnerable in business, your relationships, your family, and those you meet along your path. Humility in the business world is a powerful tool because when you're humble and honest, the other person's going to start sharing more stuff. The concept of standing in the fire when you are in the heat of battle, and pressures and emotions run high whether it's at work or in your relationships. Resources mentioned in this episode: Bill's Website: https://wholecounselingcom.wordpress.com/about/ (Whole Counselling) Bill's Book on Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/Bill-OHerron/e/B08HY39QWV%3Fref=dbs_a_mng_rwt_scns_share ( Waking Up Marriage) Summary. Despite everyone being different, yet the same, every religion is different yet the same, all cultures being different yet the same, we are all trying to figure out who we are, what our purpose in life is, but all in all who we are as human beings. Bill O'Herron, LCSW is a corporate executive, practicing therapist (weekends and evenings), and writer who seeks to use his 33 years of financial sales management experience, 24 years of marriage, 15 years of counseling clients, and 8,500 hours of sitting quietly to help his clients better understand themselves and deepen their relationships. Bill teaches that all our relationships with others, especially our marriage, started in 4th grade, when our limbic-emotional body learned, absorbed, and inherited our parents' lives and experiences. We are all therefore married to our own old, unconscious emotions more so than to our spouse. His research shows that relationships fail for one single reason: a lack of understanding of one's own emotions and reaction patterns created in childhood. His work with archetypes demonstrates also that relationships are not a single experience or dyad between two people but are eight unique relationships all occurring at the same time. Three key concepts he uses to accelerate clients' work are Stand in the Fire, 2nd Law of Thermodynamics at Home, and Relatus. These three concepts provide direct access to understanding self. He celebrates in and humorously expounds on the belief that working on self, which will...

Yap looks to tackle questions like: Where do people and planet enter into the equation when businesses calculate returns? Her book speaks to leaders, social entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs, and innovators who want to change the relationship between business, our people, and the planet. Both these scenarios have to go hand in hand, it's a win-win situation so as to maximize value for everyone. In her book, The Altruistic Capitalist leader has three mindsets: Mindfulness, curiosity, and Grit. In today's episode, we chat with AJ Bishop, CEO and Founder of My Wealth Conscious Coach. As a wealth-conscious coach, AJ believes that NOW is the time for women to claim their confidence and feel empowered with their money, their financial decisions, and command their true worth. Although AJ got into the conscious investor by accident, she chooses to stay there. She was a financial advisor who led an active yogi life. When she started meditating, she saw how she was generating her wealth was not in alignment with who she was at her core. Through her practice in yoga, her values of integrity are transferred to her clients. She says if she won't do it herself, then she'll not tell her clients to do it. What AJ helps her clients focus on is changing their mindset. Eradicating the scarcity mindset and replacing it with a mindset of worthiness. Wealth Consciousness is also about this idea of leadership and becoming more aware, of how money or how wealth was, or was not available to you when growing up or in your past and breaking through any barriers that you have with it. AJ teaches people the 3T Framework of wealth creation: Time -- how much energy you put into something Talent -- how you use yours Treasure -- putting your dollars and your money into a place that adds meaning to you. She says, "A big part of the work that I do with women clients is to ensure they get really clear on their values. I teach them that wealth is actually within us and it's also outside of us. And so we want all things to be in alignment." AJ Instagram@ https://www.instagram.com/mywealthconsciouscoach/ (mywealthconsciouscoach) AJ Bishop website: https://mywealthconsciouscoach.com/ (mywealthconscoiuscoach.com) AJ's vision is to bring a whole new way of wealth building in a conscious light, that will impact 1million people, and cause a ripple effect.

Mitch will give us a global view of the kinds of companies, the kinds of leaders of those companies who lead in a conscious way. A couple of things that have shaped Mitch's journey as a wealth management and investment advisor have been founded on his experiences in: 1. Working for Larry King, where he learned to be a successful individual, you need to be a good listener coupled with curiosity you can be successful in anything that you do in life. 2. as a board member at a school, he realized that there wasn't enough financial literacy for children and individuals. He managed to pass a law in New Jersey that stated you can't graduate high school without a one-semester class about basic financial literacy. The current companies and CEOs are now focusing on the big picture as far as companies moving towards environmental and sustainability and good governance goals (ESG) include: treating employees with respect and dignity, focusing on climate change which actually starts at home, having leaders that have EQ and IQ As an individual investor who is conscious about investing with companies that lead consciously, you need to do your due diligence on them. Aleana is driven by a purpose that is more than a mission, it is her legacy she is seeking to leave – change the trajectory of her bloodline and sprinkle belief and hope to disenfranchised youth so they are empowered to do the same. She is the Founder of Ladies Under Construction. She was the Youth Chairperson for Indianapolis NAACP and Speaker at https://naacp.org/our-work/youth-programs (2012 NAACP Youth Summit). She has won the Indianapolis Mayor Community Service Award and is also the author of Through My Lens. Mr. King recognized her potential and pushed her into a more positive direction in life. Aleanya decided she would be the first in her family to go to college and pursue a degree. Her belief in herself combined with the support of her village has given way to a life of service that supports youth today by founding https://www.ladiesunderconstruction.org/ (Ladies Under Construction) a mentoring program for young schoolgirls ages 8 to 18. The foundations mission is to provide leadership development programs, etiquette training and character development support to organizations serving school age girls. Aleayna guides young women by being real and relatable to become who they are meant to be by offering the following: All ladies are always under construction and never complete. No one is perfect and it is ok to not be perfect. Everyone is growing and becoming the person they are meant to be. Growth is continual. Allow grace and patience for yourself. Build your foundation – a foundation of principles. Self-Esteem development and understanding who you are. Have the right character. It takes a village. Your village is your resources and support that can enhance and cultivate that growth aspect within you. Aleayna's biggest contribution and impact are leaving each young woman with an ounce of belief and hope. “No matter where you come from or where you are at you can be that change”. “A pivot for me was the fact that my basketball coach actually cared. My basketball coach taught me basketball and also life skills.” “They provided me with resources and exposure. Sprinkled a belief and hope even if I have not seen certain things and I may not think I can become something, once I was given that foundation that disciple strength and encouragement and support along the way I could be something I never had to change the trajectory of my bloodline.” To learn more about Aleayna see contact below: http://www.molspeaks.org (www.molspeaks.org) https://www.linkedin.com/in/aleanya-moore-b6710258/ (https://www.linkedin.com/in/aleanya-moore-b6710258/)
On today's episode, meet Lisa Kies and https://www.linkedin.com/in/christopherkies (Chris Kies). Lisa says, "As a clinician for the past 30 years, I have met with thousands of people and I recognized that those individuals who were committed to making sense of energy, in their way, moved into sustained alignment and their reality shifted. In my practice, in groups, and in my membership meetings, we take science and metaphysics and create more conscious synchronicities. I now dedicate my practice to those who are curious about creating their new paradigm and desire a higher dimensional way of being. STATE is dedicated to people who know there is more to life and want to have fun creating. YOU are the creator of your reality. You are the Divine however, you already knew that." http://mystateofbeing.org/ (mystateofbeing.org) http://instagram.com/stateofbeing2020 (instagram.com/stateofbeing2020) https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCoUP3Y9wJcoxH1SWLwBeoZA (https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCoUP3Y9wJcoxH1SWLwBeoZA) https://twitter.com/Stateof1111 (https://twitter.com/Stateof1111) Chris says, "As a business owner and former corporate employee for the past 30 years, I have a unique ability to understand the challenges and opportunities that people face in their careers. For example, I had taken two different sabbaticals during my corporate career. I did these about eight years apart so that I could develop new skills. The first was creating a television show in 2002 that was directly connected to a membership website. The second was when I built a house and managed the entire process in 2011. There are many reasons why I decided to go outside my comfort zone but above all else, I needed to prove to myself that I was more than what people told me I was. I created Blue Sky to assist people who want to learn how to create and experience the lives they've always dreamed of having. I want people to hear my story and know that they have the power to do the same or more. " https://myblue.org/ (https://myblue.org/)
