It's the annual Month of Action for Football v Homophobia - clubs, leagues and county FAs are stepping up to be campaign champions, while people at all levels of the game are finding ways to celebrate LGBTQ+ inclusion. On this episode, the winner of the 2022 FvH Hero Award - Cheshunt FC Women's Hayley Wood-Thompson - joins Sports Media LGBT+'s Jon Holmes to discuss the stand-out contribution that led to her success. Hayley, a P.E. teacher from Hertfordshire, channelled the power within her own personal story to come out via an assembly, making a significant impact in not just the school she teaches at but more widely as well. The video she made combined LGBT+ History Month with football and was shown to pupils as far away as New Zealand. Hayley's conversation with Jon is full of good advice for teachers and coaches who are either LGBTQ+ themselves or strong allies, and there are plenty of football anecdotes in there too, from cheering on her beloved Watford at Wembley to scoring against Arsenal in the FA Cup! Also in this episode, we recap the launch of the 2023 FvH Month of Action which was held at Leicester City FC. Two of the event speakers - Ramsgate player Jahmal Howlett-Mundle and Wolves' ED&I manager Gurpri Bains - pass on some useful tips that others can draw upon to make a difference in February and beyond. Show your support! Activate the campaign in your football space - just head to footballvhomophobia.com for info, or contact the FvH team.

Should the Premier league have a 2 week break over Xmas due to recent Omicron cases and extend the season? Was it fair for UEFA to basically kick Spurs out of the Europa Conference League because they couldn't face Rennes due to a Covid-19 outbreak? On this episode of The Staight Shootin' View, SSLJA discusses the recent outbreaks of the Omicron variant of covid-19 in the Premier League and discusses whether or not the league should shut down for 2 weeks in the interest of player safey, to clear the cases, clean up and reset, with the season being extendedSSLJA also discusses a UEFA decision to effectively kick Tottenham Hotspur out of the Europa Conference League by forcing them to forfeit their match v Rennes, which they couldn't play due to a Covid-19 outbreak, and questions this decision asking if it would happen to the 'bigger' sides in the Champions League.SSLJA also gives his view on the powers that be in football looking at preserving their TV money as their main priority, as oopposed to prioritising player safety during the pandemic. For more information about Pitch Talk visit: Our Official Website - http://www.pitch-talk.comhttp://Facebook.com/pitchtalk (Become a fan & member of our Facebook group)http://Twitter.com/pitchtalk @pitchtalkhttps://www.instagram.com/pitchtalk/http://Youtube.com/pitchtalk Find & Subscribe to our audio - Add us to your favourite podcast app via RSS Feed - https://pitchtalk.podomatic.com/rss2.xmlPodomatic - https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/pitchtalkPodbean - https://pitchtalk.podbean.com/Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/pitch-talk-podcast/id445883703Google Podcasts - https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkLnBvZGJlYW4uY29tL3BpdGNodGFsay9mZWVkLnhtbASpotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/0y9lR6WJaNLyAr7diAHhqh#upsellAmazon Music - https://music.amazon.co.uk/podcasts/ee0280cc-f15b-49bb-a3e2-b688e0dd49d5/Pitch-Talk-Podcast?Vurbl - https://vurbl.com/station/pitch-talk-podcast/Mixcloud Archive (Incl. Congratulations to Leicester City FC on winning the 2020-21 FA Cup by beating Chelsea FC 1-0 at Wembley in London thanks to a Youri Tielemans stunner! There are so many things to like about Leicester City. 1. They made it all the way up to the Premier League after languishing in the fourth tier of English football. 2. They survived relegation and won the Premier League in the following season. 3. Jamie Vardy has a story of his own. 4. They lost their owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha recently but their son's involvement during the FA Cup was something to behold and truly the beauty of everything that club football stands for. Mazhar Gadiwala, Shubham Maloo, Rishabh Krishnan and Aniket Gue share & discuss everything they love about Leicester City FC, their recruitment policy and the unconditional love bestowed by the owners on the club. Manchester City Women head into the International Break on top on of the Women's Super League following our head-to-head clash at the Academy Stadium against Chelsea which resulted in a 3 all draw. It was a real spectacle which played out far from what anyone expected. This week's podcast hear post match thoughts from Interim Manager, Alan Mahon, Goal-scorer Ellen White & Chelsea Boss - Emma Hayes. As it stands City remain top of the table, with just the one point separating the two teams with Chelsea having that all important game in-hand as we into the International Break for the first time this year, which also means the podcast will be taking a bit of a break to. We'll be back on the Friday 13th March, when preparations get underway for our FA Cup Quarter-Final away to Leicester City FC.
