The extraterrestrial comedy podcast where we probe an allegedly haunted house in Maple Avenue, Hanover, Pennsylvania. There is a lot out there on this one and a lot of it doesn't follow much of a timeline so we try to put things in to some sort of chronological order and bring you the true facts. Allegedly. Deanna Simpson wasn't a Medium or anything of that nature. I mean sure you could say that Deanna was sensitive to otherworldly energies but we're not saying that she was sensitive. We're not saying that she did or did not become a Medium either. Those sensitivities could attract dark entities sorry entitties. Especially in a house full of bad juju. Which of course this house was, having seen so much tragedy before the Simpson's even arrived. Could this be a case of residual hauntings, poltergeist, simply a hoax, or was a demon to blame? For the believers out there, at about 36:43 on this episode, a voice was picked up by our microphones. It wasn't Kev or Granville and nobody else was around. We didn't hear this until listening back… Spookies! All that and more on this week's file.     Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/butitwasaliens   Store: https://butitwasaliens.co.uk/shop/     Probe us: Email: butitwasaliens@gmail.com Instagram/Threads @ ButItWasAliens Twitter @ ButItWasAliens Facebook: @ ButItWasAliens - join Extraterrestrial Towers     Music:  Music created via Garageband. Federal agents are searching for Kaitlin Armstrong for the killing a professional cyclist believed to be in a love triangle with her ex-boyfriend. Police say on May 11th, 25 year old Anna Moriah Wilson was staying at a home on Maple Avenue with a friend, when the friend came home Moriah was found with multiple gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene. Armstrong, is suspected of shooting and killing Wilson. At the time of recording, this is an active manhunt.

Fugitive Kaitlin Armstrong wanted in murder of cyclist Moriah Wilson: US Marshals #LoveTriangle Austin professional cyclist Colin Strickland apparently thought he was fooling his live-in girlfriend of three years, yoga teacher Kaitlin Armstrong. He snuck out to see a former fling — who was in town from San Francisco — early in the evening on May 11 and later texted Armstrong that he'd been off on an errand and his phone battery died. Armstrong knew better, police say. Video surveillance footage shows that one minute after Strickland, 34, dropped off his date, elite cyclist Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson, a black SUV matching Armstrong's pulled up at the apartment on Maple Avenue in East Austin where Wilson was staying. Wilson, 25, was found shot to death with a 9mm handgun multiple times later that night by her friend. According to the arrest affidavit, police believe Armstrong, 35, killed Wilson in a jealous rage, using a gun given to her by Strickland earlier this year. Neighbors wonder if the killer may even have used a silencer. Strickland, who has not been charged with any crime, appears to have given somewhat conflicting accounts of his relationship with Wilson, and others have contradicted his statements. “Colin's a douche and a player,” a woman in Austin's tight-knit cycling community told The Post. “All he cares about now is covering his ass.” Meanwhile, police say Armstrong is on the lam, having slipped through their fingers on a technicality after they questioned her two days after the murder. They believe she flew from Austin to New York City's La Guardia Airport on May 14 — and then vanished from sight. The arrest warrant charging Armstrong with first-degree murder was not issued until three days later. So far, only Armstrong's father is on the record saying she's innocent. “I know her. I know how she thinks, and I know what she believes. And I know that she just would not do something like this,” Mike Armstrong, 62, told ABC's “Good Morning America” last week. “We can't imagine the pain the Wilson family is going through,” he added, saying “there are a lot of unanswered questions.” Wilson's death has devastated her family in Vermont, where she grew up skiing and biking in an athletic family. A 2019 engineering graduate of Dartmouth College, she was a nationally-ranked skier who switched to gravel racing — a hybrid of road, cyclocross and mountain bike riding — according to her obituary. She was considered a rising star in the niche sport. She worked most recently as a demand planner for Specialized, a bike equipment company that sponsored Strickland but which has cut ties with him since the murder. According to the affidavit, Wilson was in Austin ahead of a bicycle race in Hico, Texas, where she planned to compete the following weekend. “Mo's death is making lots of people realize that it's important to live life fully as she did,” Linda Guerrette, a cyclist and professional photographer who took pictures of Wilson, told The Post. “She was a fierce competitor with utmost respect for all of her fellow competitors. Her simple philosophy of be your best self' was all she asked of herself.” What has apparently pained the Wilson family even more are allegations in the affidavit that she and Strickland — who officially got together when the male cyclist said he was on a break from his romance with Armstrong — were still involved behind Armstrong's back.

September 2018, 26-year-old Shawn Sinisi landed at the Pittsburgh Airport after a late-night flight from Arizona. No one was there to pick him up — he was alone with a simple suitcase of belongings, having been abruptly kicked out of one of the top drug rehab facilities in the country. He was supposed to be recovering from an addiction that had consumed most of his young life. Instead, he hit the streets to score then walked into a McDonald's bathroom and dialed a friend to talk him through his misery while he shot a needle into his arm. She remembers his voice trailing off. The dope was laced with fentanyl. That night, Shawn became the first known and documented victim of Jerry Sandusky's sexual abuse to die. Most of the last decade has been about accurately recognizing and dealing with sexual abuse — bringing it to light, and holding people accountable. What's missing is treating those who are struggling with the effects. As a society, we talk about drug abuse and we talk about sexual abuse, but often those are in silos – separated from one another. Shawn's story brings both together and highlights the complexities of this trauma and the system failures that are not being addressed. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Jim Gardner, the former long-time owner of The Altamont Enterprise, was raised in a large family in Guilderland. As a boy, he fished in the Black Creek and hunted pheasants and rabbits, squirrels and partridges along Siver Road. “We were born into it,” he says in this week’s podcast at AltamontEnterprise.com/podcasts, of hunting for game. “We never wasted it … If you shot it, you prepared it for the cook.” Gardner was in the Class of 1955 — the first to graduate from the new Guilderland High School. His best friend, Chuck Pergl and classmate Frank Elliott thought up the Flying Dutchman as the still-used symbol for the school. Gardner and Pergl loved country music and listening to their favorite songs on WWVA, a station in Wheeling, West Virginia. “Especially on rainy nights, you could pick it up,” said Gardner. One weekend, they took a spur-of-the-moment road trip to a WWVA jamboree in Wheeling, an adventure that inspired a lifetime of stories. In high school, Gardner started working at The Enterprise as a printer’s devil, carrying heavy frames of hot-lead type to the grand printing press in the cellar. When the press ran, you could hear it in the middle of Maple Avenue, Gardner recalled. He learned the art and craft of printing. “That’s when I fell in love with the printed word ….I have never gotten over that.” Gardner became a master printer and a partner at The Enterprise. Eventually, with his wife, Wanda, working by his side, he was the sole owner of the newspaper and the print shop. He had met Wanda Sturgess when he was the best man at his brother’s wedding and she was the bride’s maid of honor. “It was amazing,” recalled Gardner. “When I met this woman, I said, wow!” They married a year later. The Gardners still work side by side at Enterprise Printing and Photo at 123 Maple Avenue. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Now the front yard of his shop has 13 red Trump signs arrayed on the lawn. In this week’s podcast, Cyr explains that each of those signs is for someone who stopped by his shop to voice their support for Donald Trump. In a liberal place like Altamont, Cyr said, many people don’t feel comfortable placing signs in support of Trump on their own lawns. Cyr, who lives now in Knox, grew up in a close-knit family — his father worked as a machinist; his mother was a homemaker — where politics weren’t important. He had good feelings about Ronald Reagan as president. Cyr says the presidential election has not yet been officially decided and, if Trump loses, he would support him for a run in 2024. I welcome spirit infestation experiencer DeAnna Simpson to Arcane Radio. The book that was written about her life in the house on Maple Avenue is titled 'Hanover Haunting: The DeAnna Simpson Story.' The author is Joni Mayhan. Her story was presented on 'The Dead Files.' The haunting was so extreme, Amy Allan warned DeAnna, “There are five men here and they all want you dead!” The book also includes other accounts from several paranormal and spiritual investigators, including our friends John Zaffis & Bill Bean. In fact, John Zaffis urged DeAnna to flee the house before it was too late. “You need to get out of here, Dee. It’s ancient. You have to leave. This thing has been here on this land for millions of years, and it’s known about your existence before you were born,” he told her. I've known of this haunting personally, since DeAnna and her husband lived within a mile of me. Get ready for scary mysteries Twisted Two's. #1 Raechel Garden Mystery Fifteen-year-old, Raechel Garden from Newton, New Hampshire, was on her way to a friend’s house on the night of March 22, 1980. Along the way, she stopped at Rowes Corner Market to buy a pack of cigarettes sometime between 9-9:30 PM. Rachael was a regular customer so the clerks knew here. That night, as she headed towards the 50th block of North Main Street, she mysteriously disappeared. The oldest of four children, Raechel was a 9th grader studying at Sanborn Regional High. Whenever she was bored, she would walk the quarter-mile down to Rowe’s Corner Market, just to look for some excitement. At times, she would hang out and walk to a hill across Maple Avenue - an area where teens would often hang out. #2 Lizard Man A Seven-foot tall, scaly humanoid… the “Lizard Man” is a mysterious creature said to lurk in the swampland areas of Lee County, South Carolina. It was July 14, 1988, when the Sheriff was called in to investigate damage to a vehicle parked at a home just at the edges of Scape Ore Swamp. The car was said to have scratches with bits of hair and even toothmarks. There were also indications of muddy footprints near the vehicle. From this initial report, countless other claims started showing up describing a lizard-like creature haunting the swamp area.

“In wildness is the preservation of the world." ~ Henry David Thoreau Welcome to Week 2, and Day 8! You are learning how Nature helps you become a better person, in every area of your life – body, mind, and soul. Before we continue, take a moment and think about what first drew you to the idea of doing a 21-Day Nature Challenge? What did you hope to accomplish, receive or benefit from it as a result? Are you finding what you were looking for? Are you making new discoveries about yourself and the world around you? Last week we focused on using our senses to become aware of and absorb the benefits and beauties of the natural world all around us. This week we are going to zoom in a bit on individual aspects of Nature and hopefully develop a deeper appreciation for the gifts we’ve been given in our natural community. Whether we realize it our not, we are one with Nature. In fact, we are Nature and the sooner we understand this, the sooner we begin to return to our authentic selves. And this is where happiness and hope and health and healing originate and forever reside. It has been noted that people are more caring when they are around Nature. In his book “The Nature Principle”, Richard Louv points out that “Species diversity, like cultural diversity, enriches our lives and gives us hope…The more species that live in a park, the greater the psychological benefits to human beings.” That is why maintaining an awareness of the bio-diversity where you live is so vital. So today in your 20+ minute outdoor wanderings, mindfully do a nature count, actually keeping track of every living thing you see. Depending on where you live, this could be overwhelming. You may want to take a small notebook or your journal with you. You definitely won’t be able to count all of the trees, plants, flowers and shrubs you see, so just make a note of the ones that stand out to you – maybe your favorites. Don’t worry if you can’t identify everything you see. In fact, you probably won’t be able to.Just make a note of it and its characteristics – size, shape, color, etc.If it’s a bird, you can note the size and length of its bill, sound of its song, and other unique characteristics. You can try to identify it later if you like when you get home. For instance, if you see a flock of small birds in a tree, note – “flock of 20 or 30 small brown birds in the oak tree on Maple Avenue.” Birders refer to these kind of birds they can’t identify as LBB’s, (little brown birds), very scientific wouldn’t you say? Linnaeus would be proud! The point is, notice and count as much wildlife as you can observe in a twenty-minute trek outdoors and simply write it down. That is your mission for the day. So as you step outside with Beginner’s Mind, allow yourself to become a kid again.  Have fun and enjoy the process! Treat it like a Scavenger Hunt, or a Treasure Hunt. You may be surprised at the biodiversity within a quarter mile of where you live! Checklist for Day 8 ☐ MEDITATION: Day 8 – Doing A Nature Count (A scavenger hunt for Nature-lovers) (You can listen to this active meditation on iTunes or here at Mountain Zen.) ☐ NATURE WALK: 20 minutes with Beginner’s Mind taking note and counting every living thing you see. ☐ JOURNAL: Nature Count – What and how many did you see? Take a moment and think about what first drew you to the idea of doing a 21-Day Nature Challenge? What did you hope to accomplish, receive or benefit from it as a result? Are you finding what you were looking for? Are making new discoveries about yourself and the world around you? That wraps it up for Day 8. Well done Grasshopper! See you back here tomorrow!

The last day of October,My favorite day of the year,It's approaching, it's closer,It's finally here!I got into my costume,A monster with tangerine ears. Then I grabbed my fake club.I was a monster that everybody fears.I went down Maple Avenue,And then turned into Starlight Street.A bunch of teenagers were singing.I was getting into the Halloween beat! For thirty minutes I paced. At the haunted house I did arrive, The brand new haunted houseThat was standing on Cherry Drive.I promptly bought a ticket.2.99 dollars, if you ask me, pretty cheap.I just stepped inWhen I heard something slither and creep.I cried, "Awesome sound effects!”“How much effort did it take!”But I saw a fat mouse running,And behind it was a spotted snake.I tip-toed past the creatures. The snake was really scary.I was thinking: Was the snake real? When I saw something tall and hairy. It turned its werewolf head. How it looked, I can't tell you, not now.I was backing away slowly,For the werewolf let out a howl!I saw a door in the corner. So toward it I quickly ran.I went through the door. When I gasped "Oh, Man!”An actual sized vampireWas standing on a big ship's deck. Before I knew anything,It swooped down on my neck!I quickly dodged my head.I didn't want a bite!I saw a trapdoor on the ground. So I sprinted with all my might.I went down the ladder,And I saw a spider hanging from the roof.It was gigantic, and it knocked me to the ground,I cried out, "Oof!”I held my club with my eyes closed,And smacked the spider's head.It cracked apart, but there was no blood.Sweets came out instead!I grabbed as many as I could hold,And those sweets were able to last a week!I stood up and looked around. The exit I did seek.I saw an opening,And I saw the exit sign.I hopped out of the building. And when I got home I did dine!I finished my meal,Which was cooked by my mother dear.“The last day of October,” I wrote,“My favorite day of the year......”

Alison Bechdel's early comic strip, Dykes to Watch Out For is archived online. Check it out! After seeing her life on stage, Alison Bechdel responded in the best way possible: with another autobiographical comic strip. Sydney Lucas. Ring of Keys. Tony Performance. 'Nuff said. No matter how you describe it, Ellen's coming out on television was revolutionary in the 90s. Here's a retrospective.
