Ms. Frazier has a wealth of experience in air medical transport, including being the Chief Flight Nurse at University MedEvac at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania and serving on a number of boards and committees. She has written several articles and is now writing a new book with the working title of Helicopters and Medicine. Eileen was the recipient of the Jim Charlson Award, given to those that make a significant contribution to air medical Safety, in 1991 and the Marriot-Carlson Award, given for outstanding contributions to the air medical transport community, in 2000. Both of the awards are sponsored by the Association of Air Medical Services.

Brian's full-time work is with the Emergency Medical Service Institute as the Deputy Director and they oversea EMS Operations for the Pennsylvania Department of Health in 16 counties. This includes 300 licensed EMS Agencies. He served as a part-time flight paramedic with STAT Medevac from 1995 to 2008 and is a graduate of Youngstown State University in Allied Health and Criminal Justice. Mr. Shaw's office is in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

COVID-19 and what a number of air medical programs are doing during this very challenging pandemic. The purpose of the podcast is for programs to learn from each other. Fifteen programs were reached out to and interviews with five of them were completed on Monday, March 23, 2020. This was due to many individuals being in the thick of the epidemic and not being able to take the time when they needed to be focused at their programs. An infectious disease specialist was also interviewed to provide some background on COVID-19.

These were scenes from a simulated explosion on the final day of a training program offered by Wright State University’s National Disaster Health Consortium (NDHC), an interprofessional program designed to standardize disaster preparedness, response and recovery training. The training took place Oct. 10-12 at Wright State’s National Center for Medical Readiness at Calamityville. Dozens of Wright State nursing students participated in the training along with professionals from Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Kettering Health Network provided a visit from its MedFlight helicopter, allowing students to learn how to transport critical patients. “This is the type of emergency nursing that I’m interested in,” said Tyler Rowland, a senior nursing student at Wright State. “I have never seen another school that has this kind of program.” Participants received continuing education credit, a certificate from NDHC and Advanced Disaster Life Support certification. Rod Crane joined us to announce some bittersweet news. We discussed some of the changes that he has seen take place in the healthcare and areomedical fields. He also talked about where he believes these fields will go in the future and some of the challenges that might be faced. Rod also had a message for those who work in healthcare, aeromedicine, and public safety. Thank you Rod for all of your hard work and support through the years. Liz Reeves and Anthony Fleming with Vanderbilt LifeFlight stopped by our booth at AMTC 2014. They talked about the 30 year anniversary of their program as well as available employment opportunities with Vanderbilt.
Dr John Pakeila from Akron General Medical Center stopped by the MedFlight Radio booth at ATMC 2014to talk about his lecture dealing with mechanism of injury.
In Episode 4 we discussed how TXA is used in the military and how is was introduced to EMS. We also discussed the MATTERs Trial and the Crash 2 Study. For this episode Dr. Evans joined us at MedFlight for a company inservice. He spoke about the pharmacology of TXA as well as evidence based practice. In this episode we were joined by Chief Operating Officer Tom Allenstein, Regional Director Mike Perkins, and Flight Medic Mike Smith to have a candid discussion about the recent decision to relocate MedFlight 3 from Wellston, Ohio to Pomeroy, Ohio. The decision was not easy for the leadership team at MedFlight, and has been met with some concern from crew members as well as those that live in the Wellston area. We hope this epsiode gives some insight into how the decision was made and that MedFlight's commitment to Wellston and the surrounding communities remains strong. On November 8, 2009 Rob Kopp received a phone call that no parent ever expects. His son, Nick, had been involved in a motorcycle accident and was critically injured. Nick was onboard a MedFlight helicopter enroute to the trauma center at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. In this episode you will hear how a highly trained critical care team cared for Nick, his family rallied around him, and about the challenges Nick would face on his long road to recovery.
