License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology is used broadly across industries, from loss mitigation for lenders to recognizing the vehicles of wash members in the car wash space. In 2009, DRN Data entered the loss mitigation space working with lenders, banks, credit unions, and insurance agencies to find cars that needed to be repossessed. Soon they realized that LPR could be used for lead generation in the car wash space as well. Pointing cameras at the street, DRN Data's technology recognizes license plates that drive past the wash and matches that information to the VIN of the car. This data provides the wash owner with more than one hundred marketing attributes for each person zooming by. Senior Executive Director for DRN Data, Noel Peña, sat down with Shaneen Calvo, Director of Media & Editorial for International Carwash Association (ICA), at The Car Wash Show 2024 in Nashville. In this episode, you'll hear the story of DRN Data's 180-degree repositioning and entry into the car wash industry.

Greetings Glocal Citizens! This week's episode and herstory really hit close to home. We recorded this interview on Ghana's Independence Day (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJ9ZcXEXOh0), March 6th--or 6th March as we say in Ghana. And while days like this are meant to be celebrations of freedom and recognition of the work and struggles that went into the founding of the republic, my enthusiasm was half-hearted. If Africa, Africans and all people of the African Diaspora are honest with ourselves we have to accept that decolonization is an unfinished job. There is work to do. I, like my guest this week accept it and for me, I am reminded and empowered to ramp up the why of Glocal Citizens and my passion for manifesting a new world. My guest, Brooklyn sistren, and neighbor, Valerie White is as committed and has shown this commitment in a 30+ year career dedicated to economic and social empowerment across the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Valerie is currently Senior Executive Director of LISC (Local Initiatives Support Corporation) NY (https://www.lisc.org/ny/) where she is responsible for leading the expansion strategy promoting LISC's statewide efforts to create an economic and community development ecosystem addressing deep-rooted systemic inequities. In today's episode, we have the privilege of hosting Melissa Brown, the founder of Safe Harbor Ohio, an organization dedicated to combating sex trafficking and providing support for survivors. Melissa's journey began with a powerful encounter at a conference where she witnessed the stark reality of child sex trafficking represented by white umbrellas being opened– each one symbolizing a child being sold that day in the city where the conference was held. Melissa sheds light on the dark and underground world of sex trafficking, emphasizing that it thrives in plain sight and preys on vulnerability. With Ohio ranking 5th in reported sex trafficking cases, Melissa stresses the urgency of addressing this issue. She discusses how predators exploit social media to target vulnerable individuals, highlighting the importance of awareness and vigilance. Through Safe Harbor Ohio, Melissa and her team are on a mission to renew, rebuild, and restore the lives of survivors. Their motto reflects their commitment to renewing faith, rebuilding lives, and restoring hope. Melissa shares the importance of recognizing survivors' intrinsic value and equipping them for long-term success. Melissa also educates listeners on the tactics used by traffickers, including grooming and false promises, and emphasizes the role of community members in combating trafficking through prayer, volunteering, and donations. She emphasizes that trauma can be passed from generation to generation, but so can healing. Join us as we delve into this crucial conversation with Melissa Brown, exploring how we can all play a part in combating sex trafficking and supporting survivors on their journey to healing and restoration. Bio: Melissa Brown is a wife and mother of two adult children. Her work history is working in management. She has mentored two survivors and currently sits on the Stark County Juvenile Human Trafficking Task Force. She began to work alongside of those making an impact while also knowing the need is great and there is so much that needs to be done. Melissa lives by the belief that she has been placed on earth for such a time as this to help make an impact in this fight against evil. She knows that God has blessed her with a voice to speak up and fight for those who cannot speak for themselves. She fearlessly believes that God is who He says He is, and she faces life's giants with boldness and faith. Her desire is to do all things with a pure heart, and always speak the truth with love. Do you need an MBA as an entrepreneur? [Show Summary] What does it take to become an entrepreneur who drives impact and change? Is an MBA necessary? Inge Kerkloh-Devif, Senior Executive Director and Senior Vice President of the HEC Paris Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center, shares her thoughts. Interview with Inge Kerkloh-Devif, Sr. Exec. Dir. & Sr. Vice President of the HEC Paris Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center [Show Notes] Welcome to the 492nd episode of Admissions Straight Talk. Thanks for tuning in. By taking the quiz, you'll get a sense of how well you're approaching this critical process and gain access to relevant resources, both free and paid, that will provide you with an effective and efficient strategy for your MBA application effort. Our guest today, Inge Kerkloh-Devif, earned her masters in Marketing and Communications at HEC Paris in 2006. Since then, she worked in business in Paris and then became Executive Vice President of HEC Paris's Executive Education Program, focusing on Global Business Development. In 2019, she moved into her current role as Senior Executive Director and Senior Vice President of the HEC Paris Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center. In 2021, she added to her responsibilities the role of Co-Site Lead Executive at the Creative Destruction Lab in Paris in partnership with the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center. hbspt.cta.load(58291, '9bb31be0-3cf6-45f0-be3d-3791cc1bd9bd', {}); Can you tell us a little bit about both HEC's Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center and the Creative Destruction Lab in Paris? [2:11] Of course. The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center is the whole ecosystem we have built as a school around innovators and entrepreneurs. As we say, we think, we teach, and we act around innovation and entrepreneurship. That means we do research on innovation and entrepreneurship. We have more than 20 programs we are teaching at the school to teach innovation and entrepreneurship to our students. And we have all of our incubator acceleration programs, so students are learning by doing. Entrepreneurship is really part of the DNA of the school. The Creative Destruction Lab, or CDL, was founded 10 years ago in Toronto, Canada at the Rotman Management School. They're now partnering with 12 universities all over the world to offer this objective-based program from massively scalable, seed-stage science and technology-based companies. It's really an acceleration program for deep tech. The program has an intake from more than 600 companies per year. We have one lab in Paris, we have one lab on climate, and one lab on space. What's the difference between deep tech and tech? [4:15] Very good question. I think I can give 10 different answers to this. For us, we can see this really emerging more and more in engineering and scientific projects. Those are really long-term projects. We are working with scientists and engineers to get these projects to grow. For us, it's specifically based on scientific and engineering projects to give this deep tech long-term projects. When I say we are working with scientists and engineers, they're coming out of the laboratories. It's very research-based. If I have a business idea, or maybe I don't yet have a business idea, but I know that I want to be an entrepreneur at some point in my career, how can an MBA help me succeed? [5:33] I think of these as two different stages. If you already have your idea or if you're just joining an MBA, what we can see is very often, students are launching their business or their ideas a little bit after completing their MBA. They learn all the basics, they build their network,

What happens at each Boston School Committee meeting has big implications for our students and our city. In “Last Night @ School Committee,” Jill Shah and Ross Wilson recap the highlights of each meeting, provide commentary and context, and shine a light on the decisions our leaders are making. Last night was a short meeting and the first featuring Acting Superintendent Drew Echelson. Chair Jeri Robinson began by noting that discussions are still underway regarding contracts for Dr. Echelson and new superintendent Mary Skipper, and that more information will be shared at a future meeting. Dr. Echelson next shared his Acting Superintendent's Report, which included an update on how the district is preparing for the mandates laid out in its agreement with the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) in areas including transportation, special education, and more. He announced that he will be creating several new positions within the Central Office, including the promotion of the current Senior Executive Director of Data and Accountability to the newly-created position of Assistant Superintendent of Data, Strategy, and Implementation. The meeting continued with just eight public comments, followed by unanimous votes approving charter renewals for three Horace Mann Charter Schools and athletics association membership for eight Boston schools. The meeting concluded with a free-flowing discussion of School Committee processes and procedures – a discussion that did not reach a clear resolution on reforms or next steps. Tax changes would be potentially catastrophic for farm families, and it's an issue that affects every American. National Cattlemen's Beef Association Senior Executive Director of Government Affairs Danielle Beck talks to Chrissy Wozniak about the developments. Last week NCBA released a letter to House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committee urging them to consider the implications that changes to federal tax policy will have on family-owned agricultural businesses.Nearly 330 trade associations representing family-owned food, agriculture and related businesses agree that, when drafting legislation to implement President Biden's "Build Back Better" agenda, it is critical that the “American Families Plan” must also support family farms and ranches. “Congress must consider the complex structure of family-owned agricultural businesses that serve as the backbone of rural economies; therefore, understand how changes to long-standing provisions in the tax code could be detrimental to the financial viability of these businesses as they transfer to the next generation,” said Senior Executive Director of Government Affairs Danielle Beck.“This is not a partisan issue; in fact, it's an issue that affects every single American. With more than 370 million acres expected to change hands in the next two decades, preserving long-standing provisions in the federal tax code is a win-win situation for producers and consumers alike. Whether their family has preserved the land for generations, or they are a beginning, veteran or minority farmer getting their start in the industry – without federal tax policy that supports a viable business climate for the next generation of producers, building on the environmental and economic contributions of today's producers is impossible and risks compromising our nation's ability to produce a safe, abundant and affordable food supply. The consequences of taxing family farms and ranches out of business completely undermines the 'Build Back Better' agenda.”To learn more visit the National Cattlemen's Beef Association's website at https://www.ncba.org.This episode is sponsored by GAPS Ontario, your phosphorus solutions partner.
