With no WorldTour racing this past weekend and a Giro preview podcast coming later this week, I wanted to use this as an opportunity to highlight a fantastic story by Matt de Neef about a topic that has been on the rise in recent years: iliac artery endofibrosis. The written piece can be found here, but for those who prefer to read with their ears, you'll be able to listen to Matt narrating his story on the pod this week.

This week's episode is a special one. Matt de Neef takes control of the mic, along with Gracie Elvin and Georgie Howe, for an on-the-ground breakdown of Tour Down Under. The three talk about everything from the stage 1 non-chase to double Willunga Hill chaos to what Chloe Dygert can accomplish in 2025.
This week Loren and Abby sat down with Georgie Howe, former rower turned professional cyclist for Liv-AlUla-Jayco. Howe found cycling during the pandemic and her rise in the sport was rapid. That rise came with its pluses and minuses, and after a few wonderful years, Howe is leaving the professional peloton behind in 2025 ... for now. But she's not keen to hang up the bike just yet!More information about the study Georgie mentioned from the 2023 Tour de France Femmes can be found here.Matt de Neef also wrote a story about Georgie's rapid rise in cycling here.

Abby, Matt de Neef and Matilda Raynolds break down the women's Elite World Championship road race. The course was harder than expected, combined with horrendous weather, Saturday gave us quite the race. Very few riders could walk away claiming they had a good day, one of them was the winner, and a whole team proved that strength means nothing if you can't work together.

The London-based writer and journalist, Aniefiok Ekpoudom, joins me today to discuss his recent debut book, Where We Come From, which is a ‘history of rap, home and hope in modern Britain', recently published by Faber & Faber in the UK. When grime music emerged in the early 2000s, born on the streets of East London, it fused elements of UK garage, drum and bass, and dancehall into a dynamic, fast-paced sound. With raw authenticity and sharp lyrical narratives, grime quickly made its mark, both changing the shape of contemporary British music influencing global trends with its undeniable flair. In his book, “Neef” goes to the very origin points of some of the earliest artists in this genre, across different areas of Britain to investigate its earliest beginnings, as well as its growth, and the artists who were most influential in pushing it. In today's episode, we discuss the four books which have most informed his development as a thinker and a writer – be that in terms of literary styles, interesting subject matters, or new approaches to integrating creative elements into non-fiction stories. It was such a great conversation, and I'm very excited to share it with you.

We'd love to hear from you about this episode. One thing I know about humans and why we have thrived as a species is our love of learning.Education is a healthy activity that people of all ages can enjoy. Improving intellectual wellness looks different for each of us. For some, it is multiple degrees and certifications. For others, it is researching a hobby or activity of interest. Regardless of how we get education, we are more when we learn more.We often talk about nature as the first teacher. The many lessons we can learn from the natural world are always available; we must only observe them.As part of nature, humans have the right and responsibility to learn how to protect and interact with our environment. This is especially true because of the incredible impact our environment has on our health and well-being.Welcome to Episode Forty-Two of The Nature of Wellness Podcast. In this episode, we sat down with Sara Espinoza, CEO of The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), the nation's leading organization for lifelong environmental learning. NEEF is a non-partisan, non-advocacy organization that was Congressionally chartered in 1990 to complement the work of the US Environmental Protection Agency.Sara shares the incredible journey of how she turned a childhood passion into a successful profession and the importance of educating more people about the environment around us. We discuss the importance of NEEF's work to make the environment "more accessible, relatable, relevant, and connected to people's daily lives" through their programs focus on K-12 Education, Conservation, Health, and Veteran connection. This conversation made us want to learn more, love more, and live more connected to our environment.
