Déi véiert Produktioun vum Centaure dëst Joer ass och gläichzäiteg, wann een d'Reprise vun der “Poupée barbue” an den Accueil vun “Norma Jeane Baker de Troie” matzielt, dee véierte Monolog, deen een an de leschten aacht Méint am Centaure konnt gesinn. A "Prima Facie" geet et ëm eng knallhaart Affekotin, déi reegelméisseg Sexualverbriecher verteidegt - bis si selwer Affer vun engem Viol gëtt an de Justizsystem vun där anerer Säit kenneléiert. Mir hunn d'Metteuse en Marja-Leena Junker an d'Schauspillerin Céline Camara bei eis am Studio fir iwwer der Suzie Miller hiert Stéck ze schwätzen.
Wat, wann d'Helena ni zu Troja gewiescht wier? Wat, wann et eng Wollek, ee Mirage gewiescht wier, deen de Paris entféiert hätt? Dëse Zenario ass keng mythologesch Uchronie, mee entsprécht dem Euripides senger Versioun vum Homer senger “Ilias”. An "Norma Jeane Baker de Troie" geet d'Ann Carson nach ee Schratt méi wäit a vermëscht de mythologesche Personnage mat der Marilyn Monroe fir eng duebel Dekonstruktioun vun der Misogynie an der Mythologie an zu Hollywood. D'Lori Dauphin, den Tom Haas an de Jeff Schinker ware sech d'Bombyx-Produktioun an de Centaure ukucken.

In the second part of the Marilyn Monroe series, HEY VANITY, Heaven goes into detail how Norma Jeane Baker turned into Marilyn Monroe. In this episode, Heaven discusses Marilyn's humble beginnings taking small roles in different films, her modeling career, her on-set demeanor and crippling insecurities that made it difficult for her to film, the people who guided and supported her on her way to the top, her business relationship with good friend Milton Greene and the start of Marilyn Monroe Productions, and how she learned to bargain for better wages and treatment from her bosses at 20th Century Fox, giving her control over her career.Support Me:https://linktr.ee/FromMyLipsPod
***CW: Sexual assualt, mental illness***On the premiere episode of the Marilyn Monroe series, HEY VANITY, Heaven discusses Marilyn's beginnings, when she was better known as Norma Jeane Baker. Norma Jeane's childhood was unstable due to an absent father and mentally ill mother. Because of the instability of never having a permanent home throughout her childhood, Norma Jeane would develop abandonment issues along with low self esteem, anxiety, and her longing for love, affection, and safety, that would carry on into adulthood. As Norma Jeane grew up, she developed into a great beauty, which would one day be discovered by a photographer in a factory. This would be the start onto the path of Norma Jeane Baker transforming into Mariyln Monroe.Support Me:https://linktr.ee/FromMyLipsPod
Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Biographies: Katie Mitchell is a British theatre director whose unique style and uncompromising methods have divided both critics and audiences. Though sometimes causing controversy, her productions have been innovative and groundbreaking, and have established her as one of the UK’s leading names in contemporary performance. She was born in Berkshire in 1964, grew up in the small village of Hermitage and read English at Magdalen College, Oxford. She began her theatre career in 1986 with a job at the King’s Head Theatre as a production assistant. She became an assistant director at Paines Plough a year later, and then took the same post at the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1988. In 1990, she founded her own company, Classics on a Shoestring, where she directed a number of pioneering and highly acclaimed productions including the House of Bernada Alba and Women of Troy. In the decades with followed, Mitchell worked as an associate director with the Royal Court Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre. Whilst at the RSC, she was responsible for programming at the now defunct black box space, The Other Place, and her production of The Phoenician Women earned her the Evening Standard Award for Best Director. Her numerous theatre credits include 2071 and Night Songs for the Royal Court, The Cherry Orchard for the Young Vic, The Trial of Ubu for Hampstead Theatre, Henry VI Part III (to date her only Shakespeare production) for the RSC and A Woman Killed with Kindness and The Seagull at the National Theatre. She has also directed opera, working with the Royal Opera House and English National Opera. An exponent of Stanislavski techniques and naturalism, her style was strongly influenced by the time she spent working in Eastern Europe early in her career. Her work is characterised by the creation on stage of a highly distinctive environment, the intensity of the emotions portrayed and by the realism of the acting. Mitchell’s work has pushed boundaries and explored technique and, not just confined to the stage, has also taken her into other creative mediums. She has directed for film and television with work including The Widowing of Mrs Holroyd and The Turn of the Screw. In 2011, together with video maker, Leo Warner, Mitchell devised an immersive video installation called Five Truths for the Victoria and Albert Museum which explored the nature of truth in theatrical production. Ben Whishaw is a multi-award winning English actor in film, television, and theatre. He trained at RADA, and his work in theatre quickly brought acclaim including a much-lauded Hamlet at the Old Vic with Trevor Nunn in 2004. He has been directed by Katie Mitchell multiple times, including The Seagull at the National Theatre in 2006, and Norma Jeane Baker of Troy at the Shed in New York last year. In television his work ranges from BAFTA-winning performances in Rupert Goold's Richard II for the BBC in 2012 to A Very English Scandal in 2018. Among many film roles, he is perhaps best known for taking on the part of Q in the Bond films since 2012’s Skyfall and for delighting audiences young and old as the voice of Paddington in the hit movies in 2014 and 2017.

She starred in thirty major films. She was awarded a Golden Globe for “Female World Film Favorite.” She started her own production company. She was voted “2nd Greatest Movie Star” of all time by Premiere Magazine. She was chosen by Empire magazine as one of the “100 Sexiest Stars in Film History.” She was beautiful, talented, successful and seemed to have everything a woman could ever dream of, except for one thing - happiness. Who am I talking about? Norma Jeane Baker, better known as Marilyn Monroe. She’s the epitome of a girl defined by her culture. How could a woman who literally had “everything” still feel unloved and unfulfilled? Kristen Clark & Bethany Baird are my guests to help answer that question. They have written a new book titled “Girl Defined: God’s Radical Design for Beauty, Femininity and Identity”.

Snart har till exempel filmen My Week with Marilyn premiär. Bland annat fotoboken Metamorfoser, och så boken Dressing Marilyn, How a Hollywood Icon was Styled by William Travilla.
The theme for this month’s event is provided by Derrick at An Obsession with Food who asks us to Judge a Bottle By Its Cover. Basically, he just asked us to pick up a bottle only selected by its label art and not any other factor such as producer, reputation, vintage or critic review. I thought it would also be interesting to pick up only wines from producers I am unfamiliar with. So I went to the wine store and found my first selection right away from Nova Wines the producer of the famous Marilyn Merlot, the 2005 Norma Jeane Merlot. The label is a stunning shot of the young Norma Jeane Baker in a bikini sitting on a large flower. It certainly commands attention alongside more modest labels. It’s a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Syrah from the Tallerico Vineyard in French Camp, California. Here are my tasting notes: Nova Wines, “Norma Jeane”, Merlot 2005 ($10.50) - Clear ruby in color with explosive wild cherry and papaya aromas; simple wild cherry flavors with a hint of the tropical fruit on the finish. Quite quaffable, but not up to the latest crop of Beaujolais Nouveau tasted on my last podcast. Tasted at cellar temperature, but a bit better slightly chilled. Scores - Label: 10/10; Wine: 7.5/10 My second wine stood out from the rest on the shelf for it’s minimalist typography and 3-dot esthetic. This wine is an Eric Soloman Selection, who seems to always have great typographical label art. It is from a co-op of 15 wineries and growers in Portugal’s Duoro valley and is a blend of old vines fruit from all 15 producers. Being a typographer from the pre-computer days, I really appreciate the clean use of sans-serif font and white space; a very elegant label that attracted my attention. Lavradores de Feitoria, “Tres Bagos”, Duoro, Portugal 2002 ($16) - Deep ruby color with aromas of blackberry, earth and spices; nicely concentrated blackberry fruit and black pepper flavors with dusty tannins and high acidity. Another very good food wine and one of the best table wines from Portugal I have tried. Scores - Label: 9.5/10; Wine: 8.5/10 So both wines take an honor this time; for best label art, Norma Jeane Merlot 2005 and the best tasting wine is the Lavradores de Feitoria, “Tres Bagos” 2002. Thanks again to Derrick for the theme and I’ll see you all next month. Feedback: winecast@gmail.com | Audio comments: +01-206-33-WINE-9 (+01-206-339-4639) Copyright 2005 Tim Elliott.
