Trail running is fun and all but access is limited in training and racing. So I don't think it is that competitive compared to track and road racing. When Jornet announced he was going for Kouros's 24 Hour World Record, I accurately predicted he would fail. And he did. This lead me to look at his most famous and some say most infamous feat: His Everest summit(s). @USAultrarunning Flag of United States USA 24 Hour team member, Olivier Leblond broke an American Age-Group 100 mile record at Desert Solstice. In the Spring of 2013, I finally did a Fixed Timed Ultra (Beyond Limits 24 Hour / 93 Miles) and then I find out THE GOAT is coming to Across The Years to run a 6 Day Race. This episode covers the day before the race and the first day of action at the 2013 / 2014 Across The Years 6 Day. Yiannis and I both started formal athletic training and started running races at the age of sixteen. We ran our first marathons and ultras in the early 80s and then in 2013, I finally got to race with him at the Across The Years 6 Day Race. #YIANNISKOUROS #6dayrace #acrosstheyears Welcome to Episode 4 of "MY 6 DAYS with YIANNIS KOUROS". Today was a LSD workout with a heavy heart. A hiking friend passed away yesterday from Covid - 19. #LSD #Covid19 #AVA Thursday Workout: Fartlek Run / CrossFit WOD My 3-month training guide peppered with plenty of fun that’ll have you as ready as can be when you step to the start line. https://www.trainingpeaks.com/trainin... My Winter Training Plan https://www.trainingpeaks.com/trainin... LSD: PRE = 4.5; This is aerobic development pace, slightly higher in intensity than RECOVERY and EASY effort running. The purpose of Long Sustained Distance running of 40 to 90 minutes in duration is to stimulate adaptive response in various aerobic pathways, including cardio-vascular power and efficiency, mitochondrial density and efficiency, metabolic efficiency, muscle fiber size, and fatigue resistance. Given that the largest energy contribution comes from the aerobic system for races of 800m or longer, LSD paced running is the cornerstone of distance training. Extending the length of the Long Sustained Paced run over the course of the season and over the course of a career is essential for reaching endurance performance potential. RECOVERY: PRE = 3.5; This is approximately 2 minutes slower per mile than 5k date pace. For example, an athlete with a 5k date pace of 6 minutes per mile should run at a velocity of about 8 minutes per mile for RECOVERY effort. These runs can range in length from 25 to 50 minutes. The objective of a RECOVERY run is to provide gentle aerobic stimuli with minimal musculoskeletal stress in order to promote optimal tissue repair. While “jogging” is often synonymous with careless, mechanically inefficient movement patters, RECOVERY pace running should be conducted with mindful mechanical efficiency in order to reinforce optimal movement patterns. https://www.runnersworld.com/training... Early on I was super bored and did not have a WHY. I recorded this video but sat on it for a day and then figured WHY not post it. If you want to get shit done, it’s very simple: show up. Do what you say you’re going to do. It was a great morning for the 2020 World Half Marathon bronze medalists as Ethiopians Yalemzerf Yehualaw and Amedework Walelegn both picked up $37,000 wins ($27k for 1st, $10k for event records) in event record time today at the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon. The headline performance came in the women’s race where Yehualaw, the 21-year old who just missed out on winning in Delhi by 1 second last year in 66:01, ran an unofficial 64:46, the second-fastest women’s half marathon in history on a records-eligible course. Walking might be the perfect form of exercise. OK, it’s not as flashy as its cousins, running and hiking, but studies show that a moderate walk is just as effective at battling high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. And you realize these are the most competitive races in the world when it comes to trail, mountain running? And if you want to see the list of his races, look it up....there is about 100+ more amazing results in Skimo, trail running, mountain FKTs.....So. Yes, he did fail. But he did try. Would you like to see Eliud Kipchoge run UTMB? or Yiannis Kouros running 100 miles hardrock ultra trail with 11000m of elevation? Cmon dude...I get it you think you have to comment on things, but just dont. Not on Kilian. First look it up, check who he is and what he has done, and then come back, sit down, make another video of how amazing it really is that he even goes for event like that. He is THE GOAT of mountain running, skiing, ultra-trail races, vertical kilometer races, short mountain races...Hes done it all, believe me, and he won it all, believe me ;) have a nice day, and be smart...dont comment on Kilians running with 40kg of fat around your belly my friend ;) Oh and just so you get the idea? UTMB is 100 miles, with 10.500m of elevation gain. Do you realize these guys run the course in 19-20 hours? God....You really are something ;) matevž mikeln 3 hours ago @ابوفادى المستعرب حبيب الملايين Cant skip to another video, when I see guy giving opinion on things he knows nothing about. You dont comment Kilian, if you dont know who he is, and what he has achieved. You dont comment on running in europe in November, if you have no idea that Kilian is mountain athlete, skiing all winter, running all summer in the mountains. You dont comment on his running, and how you already knew before the race start that hes gonna fail this challenge, if you dont know that hes used to run for 10, 15, 20, 30 hours. Yes, you can comment on why you think he failed, what you think should be arranged differently etc...But do that with some knowledge, with some backgorund, or at least try to give proffesional opinion on this event, not beeing smart-ass from couch talking about one of the greatest athlete of our time. Sory about the weight comment, but in the end...yeah...just dont do this video in this way if you dont want to hear what other people have to say about you. Giving Kilian zero credit from this guy, cant help it...really pissed me off ;) Kilian Jornet STOPPED Earlier than I PREDICTED / 24 Hour World Record FAIL Endurance News & Random Musings https://andynoise.com/ Andy Noise Gear https://andynoise.com/gear Andy Noise Experience Stay Healthy. Yesterday Kilian Jornet, who is one of the best ultra trail runners ever, tried his hand at a Fixed Timed Ultra. He and his team went BIG and went HOME early. Jornet going for Kouros's 24 Hour record would be like John Coltrane trying to record a Mozart symphony with no practice in a meat locker ... Kilian Jornet has dropped out, shortly after passing the 11-hour mark and 134.8 kilometres. Jornet had actually left the track sometime before this, but those following the attempt were hopeful he would be able to return and make up for lost time. The announcers said that Jornet had ended the record attempt, that he had been experiencing extreme dizziness and was advised by his doctor to stop the attempt. Week in. Week out. It's all about stacking successful week after successful week. Don't get ahead of yourself. Just focus on one week at a time. Remember: The hard part of running is consistency; not any one particular workout, race, or training week. Nobody gets a free pass to sit all day, but new research on how sitting affects your arteries offers some encouraging new. "We can tentatively suggest that endurance training at a serious competitive level might offer some protection against the negative effects of sitting on your macrovascular function, which would be good news for your long-term health. And we can suggest that it might not protect your microvascular function, which would be bad news for your athletic performance. I have been in the endurance game since 1979 and I can count on my one hand the number of athletes I know that actually had a stress fracture. I do not even recall that many well know athletes having one either. Almost all the ones I knew had dietary issues aka were not eating properly for good bone health. Most of the eating issues were because they were not eating. So they weakened their bones and then trained too hard ... Many of these athletes sadly repeated this cycle. 3. Assisting Injured Athletes NFHS rules in track and field and cross country outline that it is an unfair act when a competitor receives any assistance. Previous changes to NFHS cross country rules created the exception that allows a competitor to assist an injured or ill competitor without being disqualified when medical staff is not present at the event because, in a clear majority of these types of situations, the action is intended to be an act of good sportsmanship and not an attempt to circumvent the rules. This same rule now applies to both sports and has been modified to include those situations in which medical assistance may be at the event but is not readily available to assist the injured or ill competitor. The competitor who receives aid will be disqualified, but when no advantage is gained the competitor assisting should not be penalized for exhibiting good sportsmanship. The final decision in these situations rests with the meet referee who has sole authority to rule on infractions, irregularities and disqualifications in a meet.
