All you ever wanted and all you ever needed from Diallo and LUXXURY is here in this episode. Okay, well, not *everything,” but in Part Two of our Depeche Mode special, the guys break down band's biggest hit, “Enjoy The Silence.” Get ready to learn Depeche Mode's techniques for crafting moodier, darker, and more atmospheric sounds, why this song took them to global superstar status, and how they paved the way for countless bands to create synth-driven, danceable music.

But at least this time they brought their latest episode filled with everything you could ever want to know about Tori's cover of Depeche Mode's most popular track. Today they find that words are actually very necessary as they conduct interviews with Jon Justice (Depeche Mode: The Podcast); Alex Reed and Gloria Hawa (Depeche Mode super fans); Krissy Mathews (Political Correspondent) and PRT (Not So Silent Wine Enthusiast). As always, go deep inside this Strange Little Girl's lore through the words of Neil Gaiman, the voice of Macy Rodman, and the art of Reggie Doherty. You'll also get a personalized song birth chart reading from our Resident Witch Amy K, and as always a ton of sound clips, rare interviews, forgotten moments and more. As a cherry on top we offer a complete study of the live evolution of the song in our A-M-O-S Live Lounge™️ as well as an In Your Room coda. And last but silently not least, enjoy a classic remix of Enjoy the Silence by the legendary Joshua Speedbliss. Rest assured, all you ever wanted, all you ever needed is here. In your ears.

She shares her experiences with how different people, including her parents, children, and workplace leaders, use words and the significant changes they can invoke. The conversation covers the generational and cultural shifts in word usage, the importance of choosing the right words, and strategies for people in leadership and healthcare to communicate more effectively. Terry provides practical examples of words that convey uncertainty and offers better alternatives. The discussion extends to the benefits of small talk, the importance of active listening, and the challenges of maintaining meaningful conversations. Finally, Terry emphasizes the importance of mindfulness and presence in communication and shares tips for empathetic responses, especially in sensitive situations like grief. 00:00 Introduction: The Power of Words00:19 Parental Influence and Early Experiences01:07 Workforce Observations and Leadership01:29 Writing the Book: Inspiration and Themes02:20 Generational Differences in Communication02:52 Leadership Communication Challenges03:32 Healthcare Communication Issues06:47 Internal Narratives and Self-Confidence12:21 The Importance of Small Talk16:06 Mastering Small Talk: Tips and Techniques21:50 The Role of Silence in Communication25:31 Mindfulness and Self-Reflection28:23 The Art of Asking Questions29:20 The Power of Curiosity29:58 Avoiding 'Why' Questions30:33 Engaging Questions for Deeper Connections35:14 Handling Difficult Conversations38:40 Active Listening Techniques48:18 The Importance of Word Choice51:39 Writing the Book: A Personal JourneyMemorable Quotes:- "Silence isn't empty, it's full of answers." – Terre Short- "Ask more, tell less. Enjoy The Silence by Bill Bennett
Enjoy The Silence... Silence can be awkward. A virtual meeting can be incredibly uncomfortable when everyone stares at each other. As a Scrum Master, in the past, I would continue utilizing filer words to break as much silence as possible. Whenever I asked the team a question, and no one would answer right away, I broke the “awkwardness” by attempting to elaborate on the question or provide my opinion first. So, how do you remove the awkward silence? You don't. You embrace it. After countless books and research on how to be a better facilitator, silence is critical. It allows team members (or the person you are speaking to) to ponder what answers they can provide. As a facilitator, you are not only practicing the power of silence but also practicing the power of patience. It is amazing what happens when everyone has the opportunity to think. More opinions are shared, brainstorming sessions become valuable, and everyone has the chance to absorb information.
Do we live on a silent planet? Are we merely insignificant specs of dust adrift in an indifferent cosmos? Or do we have reason to think otherwise? We're on the road and searching for answers; join us, will you?

„Listen to silence. It has so much to say.“ (Rumi) - Diesen Spruch hat Janine neulich gefunden und auf Instagram gestellt.

With their seventh release, 1990s 'Violator', Depeche Mode completed their transformation from quirky synth-pop pioneers to international rock stars. A more stripped-down, sinister sound aided by producer Flood perfectly showcases these dark songs about guilt, salvation and obsession. It's a sound that this week's guest, poet and music lover Sarah Nichols, has kept close to her heart for over 30 years. Songs featured in this episode: Enjoy The Silence - Tori Amos; Run - New Order; Pictures Of You - The Cure; Behind The Wheel (Live 1988, Pasadena CA) - Depeche Mode; Temptation - New Order; People Are People, Stripped, A Question Of Time, World In My Eyes, Sweetest Perfection - Depeche Mode; Personal Jesus - Marilyn Manson; Personal Jesus - Johnny Cash; Personal Jesus, Halo, Waiting For The Night, Enjoy The Silence, Policy Of Truth - Depeche Mode; Fascination Street - The Cure; Blue Dress - Depeche Mode; One Of These Days - Pink Floyd; Clean, Ghosts Again - Depeche Mode

On this installment of Grade A Nation, Chris Thomas chats with Leigh Marz and Justin Zorn, authors of the book, “Golden: The Power of Silence in a World of Noise.” The book approaches noise and silence in a sophisticated manner that should get people thinking about how the extent of noise and silence in one's life can play a role in personal well-being and work performance, among other aspects of life. We talk about: -where the book fits within studies of human psychology -the concept of justice including a democratization of silence -whether there is a danger in certain cultures embracing silence to an extreme extent -how people selectively tuning out others that think differently can be a potentially counterproductive type of silence -the value in removing the stigma tied to hyperacusis and autism where individuals have noise sensitivity -how shared communal experiences, even at a noisy rock concert, can potentially allow people to tap into a valuable form of internal quiet And lots more on this fun-filled discussion of complex subject matter. Every Grade A Nation interview is a winner in some way, but this one stands out! This little book is presented to the student as a textbook covering the principles and practices of the silence. The endeavor is to make clear the various points involved in the practice of the silence, and to render the benefits of that practice clear to every student. Inasmuch as the silence is fundamentally for the purpose of bringing man into an understanding relationship with God, it is a form of prayer. Nor is it a new form of prayer, for it is in strict accord with Bible teachings, such as, “Be still, and know,” and “Thou, when thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret.” By stating that the silence is a form of prayer, we do not mean to imply that it is the only form of prayer. It is, however, one of the most vital phases of prayer, and through a right understanding and application of it man will find the silence a strong factor in bringing himself to a realization of the good for which he has long sought in vain.
