fWotD Episode 2479: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of the featured Wikipedia article every day.The featured article for Saturday, 17 February 2024 is The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages are two 2001 action-adventure games in the The Legend of Zelda series. They were developed by Flagship (a subsidiary of Capcom) and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Color. The player controls Link from an overhead perspective. In Seasons, the Triforce transports Link to the land of Holodrum, where he sees Onox kidnap Din, the Oracle of Seasons. In Ages, the Triforce transports Link to Labrynna, where Veran possesses Nayru. The main plot is revealed once the player finishes both games. Link is armed with a sword and shield as well as a variety of secondary weapons and items for battling enemies and solving puzzles. The central items are the Rod of Seasons, which controls the seasons in Holodrum, and the Harp of Ages, which lets Link travel through time in Labrynna. Before he can infiltrate Onox's castle and Veran's tower, Link must collect the eight Essences of Nature and the eight Essences of Time, which are hidden in dungeons and guarded by bosses. After experimenting with porting the original Legend of Zelda to the Game Boy Color, the Flagship team, supervised by Yoshiki Okamoto, began developing three interconnected Zelda games that could be played in any order. The complexity of this system led the team to cancel one game. Both Seasons and Ages were a critical success, and sold 3.96 million units each. Critics complimented the gameplay, colorful designs and graphic quality, but criticized the inconsistent sound quality. Both games were re-released on the Virtual Console of Nintendo 3DS in May 2013, and on the Nintendo Switch Online service in July 2023.This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 01:34 UTC on Saturday, 17 February 2024.For the full current version of the article, see The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Justin Standard.

We take the deep dive into The Legend of Zelda: Red Version. It's definitely Pokemon this time, there's an Onyx and a Venomoth or as the game tells you Onox and Mothula but we can read between the lines that Capcom wrote. We have a rod that changes the seasons and this game is way more focused on combat than the last one.Plus we finish the true linked ending you can only beat if you beat both games together.ko-fi.com/ironbootsdeepdiveTwitter - @IronBootsDiveCredit: Marble Pawns - Music
Fall has arrived, the past feels like the future, everything's a BIT topsy turvy here at Chatz Studios in sunny...well, it depends on what version you listen to. That's right, folks. Allen's Pickle this week is a dual Pickle where we discuss The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. We delve into the differences from the intros, the separate approaches to dungeon design, and why Nintendo should let Capcom cook more often. Turns out we both, independently, started playing Monster Hunter Now, the first Niantic game that has made any sense at all since they released Pokemon GO. You can definitely feel the guts of Pokemon GO - Niantic gonna Niantic, after all - but early impressions seem promising! The second Oracle game is complete, and with it comes a discussion on Oracle of Seasons itself, comparisons between the two, and impressions of the "linked game" functionality. There's a lot to unpack in this one. Also, Villain Bracket! Zelda is certainly one of the most beloved gaming franchises of all time and that holds true for the Medium Retro crew. With several games in both of our top 20 games of all time, we love Zelda; however, even Zelda-heads like us haven’t played every game in the franchise. Today, we take a trip back to simpler times and jump into two Zelda titles that are not often talked about. Released nearly two decades ago at the end of the Gameboy’s life, The Legend of Zelda saw two same-day releases in Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. There were many similarities between the games, from repeating characters, familiar mechanics, and many similarities between the overworld maps, but they were also very different. Both games had separate story arcs, the central mechanic of time-change vs. season-change made for very different gameplay, and Seasons was largely focused on combat while Ages focused on puzzles. Jono played Ages and Micah played Seasons, making for a fun discussion of both games. Have you played either of these gems? Let us know your thoughts, we would love to hear from you! And of course, thanks for listening! Our aim is to be completely fan-funded, so please check out our Patreon at mediumretro.com or by going to Patreon and searching for "medium retro." It's 2 for 1 week here at Remember The Game industries! This time around, we're going back to the world of Link, boring talking owls and golden triangles. It's The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of Ages on the Game Boy Color! If you never played these games, you're not alone (sadly). I feel like these are two of the most overlooked games in the Legend of Zelda's iconic catalog, and that's really too bad. They're both really, really good. The same basic engine as Link's Awakening, but there's colour, different characters, and there's TWO of them! They're linked (no pun intended) together, and it's a really cool concept. My pal - resident Zelda superfan and former podcast Hall of Famer - Mark McCue is my guest this week, and we had a lot of fun breaking down how awesome the Oracle games are. If that's all you're here for, skip to 16:00. Or don't be a Warp Whistles kid and listen to the whole podcast! Before we get into the ageless seasons, I talk about a bunch of stuff! Microsoft held their first Inside Xbox presentation last week, and everyone is mad at them (but they shouldn't be). Sony is launching Playstation Studios with the Playstation 5, and I think it's a great idea. And Tony Hawk Pro Skater is back!!!! *Insert Kermit freaking out GIF* Plus I weigh in on what I've been playing, how bad I am at Twitch streaming, and lots more. Enjoy the podcast!

Hey everyone! We're finally back after Bally's trip to Japan and BOY do we have a lot of video games to talk about. We kick things off with Cuphead, which came out on Switch recently and accompanied Bally on his trip to Japan. He waxes lyrical about this captivatingly difficult action platformer. Then we hop over to Nbz to discuss Katana Zero, another recent Switch Indie that you should all be paying attention to. Bally then wraps up a game that has been in his backlog for a while with Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, perhaps the hardest Fire Emblem game he's played. Nbz finally ticks another Zelda game off his list with Oracle of Seasons and also chats about his first experience with Nintendo Labo and the VR kit that came out for it! After the break we discuss some of your e-mails including Indie RPG and Zelda-like recommendations as well as which Smash Bros character would come out on top if they were to legitimately fight to the death. You can support us on Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/thisnintendolife, remember to send all your correspondence to our E-mail Address: ThisNintendoLife@gmail.com & Join our Discord: discord.gg/mC8wjBd
