We've gotten through the final international break of the 2023 Major League Soccer regular season and soon we'll be watching the matches around the league on Decision Day. The final day of the season takes place on Saturday and the Lions will be north of the border for a meeting with Toronto FC. The Reds will have a few more things to play for than Orlando City on Saturday, including a new head coach, spots on the team for next season, and to send off captain Michael Bradley with one final victory. The Lions have nothing at stake on Saturday beyond sharpening their claws for the postseason. That can make a team dangerous. Before we dove into our Toronto preview, however, we spent some time discussing several topics. We checked in on the Orlando City players who were with their national teams this past week, including Duncan McGuire, who scored his first goal with the U.S. U-23 squad. The Orlando rookie just keeps on impressing with almost everything he does. We also spoke about the MLSPA salary reveal and how it affected Orlando City. Then we got sidetracked talking about Lionel Messi, and I'll take the blame for that because I really just wanted to talk about Pedro Gallese taking a pitch rusher's phone and launching it across the field when Peru played Argentina. Our mailbagbox was very concerned about the futures of Oscar Pareja, Luiz Muzzi, and Ricardo Moreira. Our listeners also asked us about our new favorite things and how much we keep up with former Orlando City players when they leave and join new teams. Remember, if there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Finally, we gave our thoughts on the key matchups for Saturday's regular-season finale at BMO Field in Toronto and offered up our score predictions for Decision Day as well. Here's how No. 383 went down: 0:15 – Lions in the international window, a new promotion for Orlando City matches against Miami, and more. 24:05 – The mailbagbox isn't too empty or too full. It's just right. 44:08 — Here's what we think will happen on Decision Day in Toronto. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Lions put together a complete game on Saturday night, soundly defeating visiting CF Montreal to the tune of 3-0 at Exploria Stadium. Orlando City needed that victory, which snapped a modest, two-game winless streak (0-1-1). Facundo Torres, Rafael Santos, and Dagur Dan Thorhallsson were particularly good but the entire team played a solid match. We break down the victory — Pedro Gallese's ninth shutout of the season — and check back on our score predictions. We also give our selections for Man of the Match and tell you which of our picks made the MLS Team of the Matchday for his performance. Orlando City B played its first MLS NEXT Pro playoff match and performed well on the road, but still lost 2-1 to Columbus Crew 2. The difference in the game was conceding two penalties. The Crew capitalized on both, despite the fact that Javier Otero saved one of them. In the end, there wasn't enough offense from OCB and two penalties conceded too many. Those kinds of mistakes are difficult to overcome anywhere, let alone on the road in the postseason. Still, it was a good season for the Young Lions and a much more entertaining one than we were expecting. Our mailbagbox featured questions about grammar, becoming friends with past and present Lions, Michael Halliday's future, and more. Remember, if there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Finally, we looked ahead to Wednesday's matchup against Nashville SC on the road, providing our key matchups and our score predictions for the Lions' penultimate road match of the 2023 regular season in a week that's shaping up to be critical in terms of where Orlando City will finish with regard to home field in the postseason. Here's how No. 380 went down: 0:15 – A complete victory over CF Montreal at home. 25:36 – OCB bows out of the playoffs quickly, but weird things happened, so you know it was an authentic Orlando City B match. 40:37 — Our mailbagbox has some interesting questions for us Learn more about your ad choices. Orlando City did just about enough against the Houston Dynamo on Friday night but a highly questionable penalty call spoiled Pedro Gallese's clean sheet and ultimately cost the Lions a point in the South 2 group of the 2023 Leagues Cup. That makes the road to the knockout stages slightly more difficult with a big match coming up against Santos Laguna. We break down a game Orlando should not have needed penalty kick heroics (although those were fun and exciting to watch). We also select our Man of the Match and check back on our score predictions. We then dove into our mailbagbox to answer questions about coaches' challenges and whether or not Martin Ojeda should have given up No. 11 for Junior Urso. Remember, if there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. After the mailbagbox, we discuss the upcoming Fulham-Aston Villa friendly at Exploria Stadium on Wednesday. And finally, we dissected another crazy Orlando City B match. The Young Lions took the early lead, fell behind, then rallied for a big 3-2 home win over Chicago Fire FC II, and it was just OCB being OCB. Get to one of the Young Lions' games soon because you never know what's going to happen. Here's how No. 364 went down: 0:15 – The Lions probably deserved all three points against the Dynamo but they'll have to settle for two. 19:37 – We dip into the mailbagbox and touch on a midweek club friendly at Exploria Stadium. 33:52 – OCB plays yet another wild game and comes out on top.  Learn more about your ad choices. Orlando City completed a three-games-in-eight-days gauntlet, finishing with a transcontinental trip to play the Seattle Sounders. Although the Lions played well in the match and created chances, they were ultimately undone by a lack of finishing once again as Mauricio Pereyra's empty-net sitter sailed over the crossbar from about eight yards out and Stefan Frei made some good saves to deny Duncan McGuire and Facundo Torres. Pedro Gallese had little to do at the other end but stopped the few chances that the hosts put on frame. It was a good, yet simultaneously frustrating, result. We give our thoughts on the game, touch on Mikey Halliday's apparent hamstring injury, and make our selections for Man of the Match. We obviously checked our mailbagbox to see what's on your mind. Remember, if there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. We briefly touched on OCB's busy schedule in the coming week before diving into a discussion about The Beautiful Game, a legends match at Exploria Stadium on Friday night that was cut short due to weather and misbehaving fans who refused to stay off the field of play. What can MLS and security teams around the country learn from this game for when Lionel Messi arrives? We discuss both the entertaining aspect of the game, Nani's return to Orlando, and why people think it's OK to disrupt sporting events and ruin it for everyone else. Here's how No. 356 went down: 0:15 – Orlando City did everything right except score a goal in Seattle. The Lions still haven't beaten the Sounders at Lumen Field, but they have taken four out of six points in the last two meetings overall. 18:18 – Mailbagbox time and a quick peek at the upcoming OCB schedule. 33:49 – The Beautiful Game lived up to its name until it didn't.  Learn more about your ad choices. This week's show again started out with some personalized thank you shout-outs to some of the founding members of our new, independent website, which is under construction. We'll keep the GoFundMe open until April 1, so if you're still waiting for payday or on the fence about contributing, you've still got time to get yourself immortalized on the new site. Now, on to why you're here... Orlando City is getting you a tie for Father's Day. That's pretty obvious after the Lions drew for the third consecutive match, splitting the points in a 1-1 draw at D.C. United on Saturday. Getting a point against Wayne Rooney on the road almost (but not quite) feels like a win, especially when it was achieved with a heavily rotated side. That side included the first Orlando City starts for Rafael Santos and Duncan McGuire. As fate would have it, McGuire turned out to be the player who finally ended Orlando City's long, national nightmare of going scoreless in the run of play. The rookie's first professional goal wasn't exactly a highlight-reel strike, but he won't care and neither do we. His back flip, however, was quite gorgeous. The setup by Kyle Smith and Dagur Dan Thorhallsson that led to the goal was also nice to watch. Unfortunately, Chris Durkin spoiled things by scoring an unstoppable goal that even the stunning form of Pedro Gallese was powerless to prevent. Durkin might not ever score a goal that precise ever again, and it kind of sucks that it came against Orlando City, but a road point in the midst of heavy rotation due to fixture congestion isn't all bad. After breaking down the match, we submit our picks for Man of the Match against United. It was not as unanimous as you might expect, despite Gallese's heroics in the first half. We also talked a little about tonight's showdown with Tigres, Orlando City's Leagues Cup bracket, and an honor for El Pulpo. The Orlando Pride are quickly closing in on both their final preseason match — this Friday against the Washington Spirit — and their first game of the 2023 NWSL season. The team got a jump on its postseason to-do list, however, by signing midfielder Mikayla Cluff to a new three-year deal. Cluff was already under contract for 2023, but the new agreement extends her stay in Orlando through 2025. We also discussed the announcement of OCB's 2023 schedule (finally) and some of the quirky new rules in MLS NEXT Pro this season. If nothing else, MLS NEXT Pro is going to get weird. We talk about some of those rule changes and compare them to stuff from another sport going through some twists and turns. This week's mailbagbox was small, but mighty. If there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Finally, we looked ahead to Saturday night's home game against Charlotte FC, complete with our key match-ups and predictions. Stay safe and enjoy the show! Here's how No. 330 went down: 0:15 - The Lions kept not losing this week but also kept not winning. We talk about the trip to D.C. 46:29 - Pride and OCB news! The Pride locked down a midfielder and the Young Lions are going to have some strange new rules to play by in 2023. 1:07:09 - Our mailbagbox asks us to rate our excitement for the Tigres match and the return of Ted Lasso. We're back after a couple of weeks off to recharge our batteries and gather info, and now there's plenty to talk about for a full-length show. Starting out on the Orlando City side of the club, the Lions have been busy over the past three weeks. The biggest news is the re-signing of goalkeeper Pedro Gallese to a new two-year contract with an additional club option year. One of City's biggest off-season priorities was to either re-sign or replace the talented Peruvian international shot stopper and Luiz Muzzi has checked that off the to-do list. One of the other things the club has to do is find the right player to occupy the third Designated Player slot and that might be Argentine winger Martin Ojeda. Reports are swirling that an agreement is just about finalized but we'll have to wait and see if this is the guy. We discussed what Ojeda can do for the Lions and why this would be a good move for Orlando City if it comes to pass. In other news, we talked about Tesho Akindele's announcement that he's hanging up his professional soccer boots and going pro in something else. We enjoyed Tesho's hard work for the club and wish him the best. We also talked a bit about the 2023 Orlando City schedule and what fans can expect from it this year. Then we turned our attention to the MLS SuperDraft. In addition to adding four players — three in the first round — there was a big subtraction on draft day, as the Lions send right back Ruan to D.C. United. We spent some time on what Ruan's departure means for Orlando City in 2023. On the Pride side, there were multiple players re-signing on two-year contracts, so the club locked up Marta, Viviana Villacorta, and Erika Tymrak through 2024. What does it mean for the Pride? We've got thoughts on that. The Pride still have a lot of work to do this off-season in the front office, on the technical staff, and in addressing the roster. Meggie Dougherty Howard, Toni Pressley, Celia, Courtney Petersen, and Jordyn Listro are the remaining unsigned players from the 2022 squad. One interesting thing that happened since our last show was the announcement that Debinha will not be returning to the North Carolina Courage. A tweet from former Pride GM Ian Fleming seemed to suggest that he may have been working on something significant prior to parting ways with the team and that tweet came out pretty soon after the Debinha announcement. Could she join fellow Brazilian Marta in Central Florida? We'll have to wait and see, but since we're not allowed to have nice things, we're not getting our hopes up just yet. We also dipped into our mailbag, where we were asked about our thoughts on Gregg Berhalter, the timing of a new Pride general manager, and our Christmas lists. If there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Programming Note: We are in our monthly off-season schedule for recording new episodes, but if the news cycle warrants it, we will of course put out new shows more frequently, as needed. In other words, we might be back in a week or a month. Stay safe and enjoy the show! Here's how No. 320 went down: 0:15 - Orlando City's off-season moves rolled on over the last few weeks with the Gallese re-signing, a new SuperDraft class, and the departure of Ruan. 39:10 - The Pride are dishing out two-year contracts — one of which was signed by Marta — and wouldn't it be pretty cool if Debinha signed one? 50:44 - Mailbagbox time! Business in this off-season is picking up for both Orlando City and the Orlando Pride. With stuff going on, we weren't able to take a break this week but that just means an extra PawedCast episode for you. The Lions continued to shape their roster this week with multiple signings (but no new players), re-signing goalkeeper Adam Grinwis, signing defender Kyle Smith to a new one-year deal with an option year in 2024, and inking midfielder Favian Loyola to a Homegrown Player contract. These weren't the kinds of signings that will grab headlines but they were necessary to add some meat to the roster's bones. There was a trade as well, as Orlando City sent midfielder Andres Perea to the Philadelphia Union for a good chunk of Garber Bucks. Perea seemed more of a fish out of water in 2022 than in previous years when he had a better-defined role and he didn't seem well-suited to being the backup to Mauricio Pereyra, so it's a fresh start for the 22-year-old who could still develop into a good player. The Lions made a decent deal and slashed another $250,000 off the books. Will that GAM be used toward re-signing Pedro Gallese? Adding a replacement midfielder? We'll have to wait and see. The Orlando Pride took one step toward roster completion for 2023 by re-signing defender Carrie Lawrence to a two-year deal. The Orlando native and former UCF player will be in purple for the next two seasons and can hopefully continue to mature and develop as an NWSL center back. Both the Lions and the Pride still have a lot of work to do in the lead-up to the 2023 season. The World Cup is over. OK, it's not, but it kind of feels like it is for USMNT fans. The young Yanks played a spirited game against the Netherlands but couldn't finish their chances and perhaps ran out of legs in the midfield. The Dutch punished the U.S. three of the four times the defense got caught napping and their ruthlessness was the difference in a 3-1 USMNT loss. This young team performed well and the prospects of a home World Cup in 2026 with largely this group of players is exciting. We also dipped into our mailbag, where we were asked about our World Cup thoughts and our winter beer thoughts. If there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. We're back! It's been a much-needed few weeks off as we transitioned into our off-season podcasting schedule, which is generally monthly unless the news cycle dictates we add shows. The off-season had been a quiet one for a couple of weeks and now things are happening, so here we are. Orlando City and the Orlando Pride each released their end-of-2022 roster decisions, so it gave us a chance to see how we did in terms of our predictions of which players would stay or go from both teams. We're doing pretty well so far and could pick up more “wins” depending on whether or not players who were offered new deals end up re-signing. We walk through the surprises and non-surprises and analyze what some of the moves might mean as the teams head into 2023. On the Orlando City side, we also discussed Pedro Gallese's award for MLS Save of the Year, the addition of defender Luca Petrasso from Toronto FC, the loss of Nicholas Gioacchini to St. Louis City SC in the MLS Expansion Draft, the loss of Junior Urso to whatever personal reasons prompted his return to Brazil, Facundo Torres making Uruguay's World Cup roster, and the rumors about Arsenal's interest in signing Torres. We also talked briefly about Jack Lynn being part of San Antonio FC, which won the USL Championship title in this week's final. Big congratulations to Jack and to former Lions Santiago Patino (the MVP of the final), David Loera, and P.C. This week's mailbag asked us when it's OK to put up Christmas decorations, whether we'd support Orlando City signing Josef Martinez, and what we thought of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Star Wars: Andor, and House of the Dragon. If there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. After answering the mail, we turned our attention toward the Orlando Pride. We are happy for Seb Hines on getting the head coaching gig, but is he set up to succeed? And should he have been hired prior to finding whoever is going to be his new boss? Speaking of that, we say goodbye to former Pride GM Ian Fleming, as the club has parted ways with him as part of the restructuring of that position. We discuss the re-signing of Ally Watt and Haley Hanson, and whether the club is really ready to walk the walk after talking the talk. Programming Note: We are in our monthly off-season schedule for recording new episodes, but if the news cycle warrants it, we will of course put out new shows more frequently, as needed. In other words, we might be back in a week or a month. Stay safe and enjoy the show! Here's how No. 317 went down: 0:15 - Lots of Orlando City news! We've got comings and goings and mild surprises with regard to the off-season roster decisions. Also, please keep Mikel Arteta away from Facu. 36:46 - Mailbagbox time! We only have a couple of questions but they required some thoughtful responses. We did our best with that. 1:00:26 - The Pride face another vital off-season and although a lot of good things have been said and positive things have happened, there's still a lot to be concerned about. While there is no Gianluca Lapadula, Andre Carrillo, Yoshimar Yotun, Renato Tapia or Luis Advincula, La Blanquirroja do still have the likes of Christian Cueva and Pedro Gallese to call upon. This squad very much feels like it is looking towards the future with 11 players aged 25 or under and seven yet to receive their first cap. The majority of the squad do play their football in Peru but there are a few in MLS, Saudi Arabia and Europe, including Miguel Araujo of Emmen and Feyenoord's Marcos Lopez. Paraguay team news Paraguay also have another friendly after taking on Peru, facing Colombia at the weekend, and they have gone pretty much full strength. The star name in the Paraguay squad right now is Miguel Almiron who has scored eight goals in 15 Premier League matches for Newcastle this season and will be hoping to carry that form over to the national team. Paraguay will also be hoping he does, with Derlis Gonzalez the top scorer of the current squad, scoring just nine goals for Los Guaraníes. Wow, it's our 300th episode! Who knew we would get this far before anyone demanded we cease and desist immediately? Orlando City went to Cincinnati a bit shorthanded, became even more shorthanded during warmups, and didn't accomplish much over 90 minutes in a 1-0 away loss to FC Cincinnati. Pedro Gallese played well, Antonio Carlos looked pretty good on his return, and outside of that there weren't a lot of players of whom to sing praises. We break down a meh game in Southwestern Ohio and make our Man of the Math selections (it was unanimous, naturally). The Pride were off this week but there was some news and a little more discussion of how this season has gone and what needs to happen to start any meaningful change. We also discussed the Young Lions of OCB, who got a big away win at Cincinnati, as well as the USWNT's first friendly against Colombia in this international window. That led to some more Pride talk and how talent has not been the teams problem in the past, but it sure isn't a strength of the club at the moment. This week's mailbag asked us about chain restaurants not in our area, MLS expansion cities, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and more. If there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. One of our listeners left the most amazing PawedCast-related stories we've ever heard in her review on Apple Podcasts. That was a bright spot in our week, for sure. Finally, we gave our key match-ups and predictions for Orlando City's home matches within the next week against Nashville SC and D.C. United. Stay safe and enjoy the show! Here's how No. 300 went down: 0:15 - A loss in Cincinnati is not what we had in mind for Orlando City this week. 19:42 - A pause for some Pride talk, a good weekend for OCB, and the USWNT is back on the pitch. 35:27 - Our mailbag and our predictions for Nashville SC in the U.S. Open Cup and D.C. United on the Fourth of July. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Orlando City returned from the international break and immediately was pressed into two matches in quick succession. However, the Lions handled the schedule well, fighting back from a goal down to earn a road draw at New England and taking care of business at home against the Houston Dynamo by earning all three points. We break down the two matches and select our Man of the Match from each game. We also discussed the ongoing problems that Robin Jansson has with the league's referees. Just speak Swedish, big fella! Please! OCB goalkeeper Javier Otero got a short-term contract to serve on the bench vs. the Revs but in the end his presence wasn't needed because Pedro Gallese might be an actual octopus rather than just someone with that nickname. The Orlando Pride were historically bad at Portland and if things don't change soon, these types of results could start occurring far more often. The club's NWSL side just can't compete in the league at the moment after a promising start to the year. To make matters worse, Orlando doesn't even have a center back on the bench at the moment. When will things get better? Maybe 2023? 2024? Who knows? OCB was almost as bad as the Pride on Sunday, falling 6-1 at Columbus. There wasn't even a Jack Lynn goal to celebrate, although Nick Taylor did manage to help the Young Lions avoid the shutout. This week's mailbag asked us about the new turf at Exploria Stadium and our experiences at other sports venues. If there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Finally we gave our key match-ups and predictions for Orlando City's trip to FC Cincinnati. Stay safe and enjoy the show! Here's how No. 299 went down: 0:15 - A draw and a win for Orlando City's MLS team has things going in the right direction and the Beefy Swede has to learn the value of silence. 38:52 - The Pride and OCB got some excercise and fresh air but did nothing resembling playing soccer on Sunday. Plus some USMNT talk. 1:19:57 - Our mailbag and our predictions for Cincy. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Orlando City hasn't played in a while but that's all about to change. With two matches this week, we're all about to fill our need for seeing the Lions on the pitch. Since last week, there's been some news on the injury front. The bad news surrounds Homegrown goalkeeper Mason Stajduhar, while the better news pertains to Benji Michel and Antonio Carlos. We've got all of that for you, plus the new way we'll be watching MLS games starting next season. We also talked about a clown who advanced to the World Cup at the expense of our own dear octopus, Pedro Gallese. The Orlando Pride played in Chicago this past weekend and things didn't go well, although they could have gone worse in Seb Hines' debut as acting manager of the squad. The investigation into Amanda Cromwell and Sam Greene goes on and so do the losses for the Pride, although this one was certainly much more competitive than the last one in Houston. We talk a little about the Pride goings-on but mostly we lament what is turning out to be another season to forget. OCB fell on the road but Jack Lynn just keeps finding the net, so there's at least something positive going on with the Young Lions, who are waiting for some players to return from international duty. Lynn's record pace for OCB continues and we're here for it. This week's mailbag asked us if we've read any good books lately, and it turns out that we have. There was also a question about Stranger Things Season 4 that we stuck at the end for those who aren't ready to be spoiled. Don't worry, we give you plenty of warning before we launch into any spoiler territory. If there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. After a quick chat about the USMNT's win over Grenada (the El Salvador match happened after we recorded), we gave our key match-ups and predictions for Orlando City's trip to New England and home game against Houston. Stay safe and enjoy the show! Here's how No. 298 went down: 0:15 - Mason's surgery, some injured Lions return to training, and MLS finds a way to make its games more accessible for streaming starting in 2023. 24:26 - The Pride's first game under Seb Hines wasn't great but it wasn't worse. Plus, we just kind of vented about the Pride for several minutes. 46:09 - Our OCB rewind, the mailbag, the USMNT, key match-ups and predictions for New England and Houston, and a special spoiler section for a mailbag question about Stranger Things. Orlando City still hasn't won in preseason play but the Lions got a result on Friday night with a 1-1 draw against a stubborn Colorado Rapids team. Robin Jansson's goal was canceled out by Diego Rubio in a bit of a defensive struggle that was mostly played between the penalty areas. Young Designated Player Facundo Torres made his Orlando City debut and played well, showing flashes of what Lions fans can expect from the 21-year-old. There was news out of Media Day, including a new contract in the works for Pedro Gallese and visa problems for Antonio Carlos. The Lions also added a Homegrown defender in Alex Freeman, who signed on Tuesday. Orlando City SC President of Business Operations Jarrod Dillon joined us on the show this week and talked about settling in, how he's going about gathering information, and how he envisions making Orlando City and Orlando Pride more attractive fans with better overall experiences for those who attend games. Big thanks to Jarrod for his time. There wasn't much to talk about from the Pride camp this week but things should be getting more interesting as we move closer to the NWSL Challenge Cup. The USWNT, on the other hand, is about to get the SheBelieves Cup underway. Orlando City was far too lackadaisical in allowing preventable early goals in its 3-2 loss at the Columbus Crew in the midweek, which placed even more importance on Sunday's match against Nashville SC. And then, well, that happened. It won't bring Orlando City fans much comfort to know their team did just enough to win that match on Sunday because the customary — and important! — points that come with wins will not be awarded. Referee Allen Chapman saw to that. While one can usually simply point to incompetence rather than malice (after all, this is a match official who did not understand the shootout rules in last year's Orlando City vs. New York City FC playoff game), it's difficult to see Chapman's decision as mere ineptitude in this case because there is a standard to be met of “clear and obvious” required to overturn the call on the field that cannot reasonably be said to exist. Dave Rohe and I break down the road loss and the home win that only netted one point due to Chapman's Halloween Heist of the other two, and make our selections for Man of the Match for each game. We discuss where that leaves the Lions with one match left to play and how Chapman ruined a storybook contribution from Alexandre Pato. We also discuss the Orlando Pride's season-ending loss to the Chicago Red Stars on Friday. That 1-0 loss ends the once-promising 2021 Pride campaign on a five-game losing streak. We talk about where the club goes from here and some roster moves that have already taken place. This week's mailbag asked about Pedro Gallese, and, for some reason, referee accountability (can't imagine why). If there's anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Here's how No. 270 went down: 0:15 - Columbus finally got a win in the series at perhaps the worst popular time after five straight losses to Orlando and way too much talk about the Halloween Heist (please congratulate me on keeping the podcast kid-friendly because it was an exercise in restraint on my part). 55:08 - The Pride have a lot to accomplish this off-season after finishing the year on a five-game skid, starting with a coaching search and ending with a retooling of the side. 1:11:05 - Our mailbag and predictions for Decision Day. Orlando City extended its season-opening unbeaten to six matches with Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Toronto FC. The Lions were forced to beat the Reds with their captain and both starting fullbacks tied behind their backs but they were stout defensively and got a timely early goal from Tesho Akindele. They also got some great saves from Pedro Gallese. We discuss the match, Silvester van der Water’s first MLS start, another solid game for the back line, and more. We handed out our Man of the Match selections to the same guy this week. Then we discuss the suspension MLS handed down to Nani just 25 hours before the game. Who asked for it? Why was it necessary? We dissect this and can come to only one conclusion, so put on your tin foil hat before listening to this pod. We also discussed Daryl Dike’s season at Barnsley coming to an end and what’s next for the big guy before we could possibly see him back in a purple kit at Exploria Stadium. We hope he represents the USMNT proudly and has some success in his upcoming friendlies. We’re joined by Ben Cork of Once a Metro this week to find out more about Orlando City’s opponents Saturday afternoon — the New York Red Bulls. Ben tells us what’s new with the Red Bulls under their new manager, what is being done to cover for Aaron Long’s season-ending injury, and what we can expect on Saturday at Red Bull Arena. The Pride got a huge 2-1 road win at the North Carolina Courage on Saturday night, making it a six-point night for the club. Alex Morgan seems to be getting going and Sydney Leroux also found the net, while backup goalkeeper Erin McLeod turned in a standout performance while filling in for Ashlyn Harris (no injury issues there, just some fixture congestion ahead). Orlando faces its toughest challenge of the season so far tonight against Portland and then will also host Kansas City this Sunday. Morgan got another USWNT call-up but it might not affect the Pride much until the Olympics. We explain. This week’s mailbag has some snark as well as questions about Dike and van der Water.
