«Warum müssen wir das lernen?» Diese Frage hat Lehrpersonen von der Primarstufe bis zur Hochschule wie ein Refrain immer schon begleitet. Warum muss ich Odysseus kennen? Was bringt Latein? Warum muss ich wissen, was ein Substantiv ist, ein Adjektiv, ein Verb? Was hab ich mit Gravitation, mit den chemischen Elementen oder der Vererbungslehre am Hut? Was die Schülerinnen und Schüler nicht wissen: Diese Fragen stellen sich nach der Schule, nach der Ausbildung genauso. Wenigstens war das bisher so. Doch jetzt gibt es die künstliche Intelligenz. Schülerinnen und Schüler fragen sich: Warum müssen wir überhaupt noch lernen? Studierenden und Berufsleuten geht es ebenso. Die KI weiss ja alles – was soll ich mich da noch anstrengen? Müssen wir jetzt alle nicht mehr lernen? Können wir all das anstrengende Wissen ganz einfach der KI überlassen? Der Fachbegriff dazu heisst: «Mental Offloading» – also kognitives Auslagern. Das Prinzip gibt es schon lange – wunderbar dargestellt mit dem «Pensive» von Professor Dumbledore in den Harry-Potter-Filmen. Bisher haben digitale Hilfsmittel das Wissen vor allem gespeichert. Neu ist, dass die KI komplexe Fragen beantworten und auf Daten reagieren kann. Die Frage ist also: Wieviel müssen wir heute angesichts dieser KI noch lernen? Wieviel «Mental Offloading» ist möglich?
