Guest: Trent Halasek Guest Bio: I was raised by a family of educators and have maintained my love of learning, and teaching, in my professional career. I read and consume as much information as I can to help better myself professionally and personally. My path is a bit non-traditional for a sales leadership role. I have a degree in accounting and started my career as a Staff Accountant. Most people who end up in sales will tell you that accounting work is horrible. I take the opposite approach. What I learned with a finance background is the cornerstone for prudent financial decisions and practical solutions in my work. From the very beginning of my career, I learned what drives financial results in the industry, so when I elevated into leadership positions, I already had learned the financial side of decisions. It definitely gave me a leg up when I started moving up in my career. Guest Links: Akers Packaging Service Group Connect on LinkedIn Key Points: Sales Leadership Philosophy: Shares insights on continuous education and training for sales professionals. Views sales skills as learnable and emphasizes ongoing development in areas like lead generation, cold calling, and communication. Prefers hiring individuals who are willing to learn and have high energy over those with extensive industry experience aligning salespeople with the company's core values and ensuring they are focused on what the company does best. Hiring and Developing Sales Talent: Look for candidates with a growth mindset (willingness to learn) and high energy. Focus on helping sellers get wins in the right areas to build confidence. Prefers a hands-on coaching approach, especially for new sellers, to align them with company goals. Understands the importance of managing people differently based on their experience and career stage. Business Model Protection: Stresses the importance of protecting the company's business model by staying focused on core strengths. Advocates selling only boxes, not diversifying into other products, which could dilute profitability. Believes in aligning sales efforts with the company's proven value proposition, even if it means not chasing every opportunity. Sales Wins and Strategy: In October, all 11 local sellers exceeded previous year's sales despite industry pricing challenges. Focused on selling company assets effectively and motivating sales teams. Uses internal surveys to ensure messaging aligns across all levels of the company, from entry-level to top leadership. Ensures salespeople understand the company's offerings and target market. Strategic Decision Making: Encourages decision-making based on the company's business model rather than reacting to every customer request. Highlights the importance of strategic decisions (e.g., offering new products like tape) being made at the leadership level, rather than by individual salespeople. Adapts to the needs of smaller customers and helps new sellers secure smaller accounts to build confidence, but ensures they remain focused on core products. Customer Needs and Sales Approach: The company focuses on providing fast, reliable service for corrugated boxes. Targets smaller to mid-sized customers who need quick delivery and personalized service, unlike large companies that can get these products from larger corporations. Uses a needs-based sales approach, focusing on solving specific customer challenges with a tailored solution. The sales cycle is guided by understanding the customer's language and aligning the company's value proposition to their needs. Understanding Individual Strengths (Superpowers): Emphasizes the importance of recognizing both personal and customer strengths. In the context of a salesperson or team member, it's crucial to identify their "superpower" (a unique strength or trait) and encourage them to lean into that for success. For example, the interviewer mentions using passion and energy as their own "superpower" for motivating others. Balancing Commonality with Individuality: Discussion about how customers often have the same general need (e.g., fast delivery of brown boxes), but the underlying reasons for that need may differ. This highlights the balance between understanding the commonalities (like needing a box) and addressing the individual needs behind that requirement. The Grammy Awards were last weekend and plenty of former All Of It guests were in attendance, including Nicole Zuraitis, who, with and Dan Pugach took home the award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album. Nicole also served as a judge for the Public Song Project, performed at our concert at Lincoln Center, and recorded a song for our album: an adaptation of the Edna St Vincent Millay poem, “The Philosopher.” You can hear a version of it by getting your own copy of the Public Song Project vinyl, by donating to WNYC. To celebrate their win, we present Nicole Zuraitis at WNYC playing a musical mash-up of two Millay poems: “The Philosopher” and “Travel.”
We look at the Flexispot Ergonomic Office Chair(BS14). See more about it here. Flexispot Ergonomic Office Chair(BS14) reviewed When this package comes you might need a fit and healthy postman, as the package came in 26 kilos. It is not unliftable, but it is certainly on the heavier side. That side, for the price that it is, you would perhaps expect a fair amount of heft for your chair. Some other chairs we have reviewed have come ready to go, preassembled, whereas for this one you are going to have to put this one together yourself. We're not saying it is difficult or tricky to do, but you will just need to get your Lego / IKEA mindset on when this one comes. FlexiSpot | Discover Professional Comfort - BS14 Ergonomic Chair Once installed our testers were very positive about it. They enjoyed sitting in it, spinning in it (not to be encouraged, but you know how testers can be) lounging in it, stretching back, and even, finally doing some work sitting at a desk too. They felt that it seemed quite robust, comfortable and good for encouraging you to even get some work done. The flexibility and options for adjusting to your optimal back position were all great. As always you might need to remember to do this, but as the creators would say, that is up to you to remember to do, rather than the fault of the chair. As always if you are going to be spending a lot of time sitting down, having a great chair is definitely something worth investing in. Pursue a Healthier Sitting Let's expect our chair BS14 to be a reliable companion in both your work and life! It aims to help you maintain an ergonomic, correct, and comfortable posture, in terms of: (A) Adapts to the body's natural movements; (B) Offers sufficient support based on biomechanics; (C) Relieves lower back, neck, and upper limb pain. 8° Forward Seat Tilt You can adjust the seat angle forward, promoting an open hip angle. The tilted position helps to reduce pressure on your lower back and encourages a more natural and upright posture. Additionally, this function helps prevent slouching and alleviate discomfort associated with prolonged sitting by engaging core muscles and promoting spinal alignment. Supportive Headrest The headrest is designed with versatility in mind, which features both height and angle adjustments to ensure the perfect fit for every user. Crafted with soft-to-the-touch material, it gently contours to the curve of your neck, preventing neck problems, and allowing the musculature of the neck and shoulders to relax. Multifunctional Armrests The armrests are engineered to offer multiple adjustment options that are easy to use. They can be adjusted up and down, forward and backward, inward and outward. This ensures that your arms receive optimal support in any sitting position, relieving tension in the upper back and neck. Designed to contour to the curves of your body, promoting a healthy posture and reducing fatigue from prolonged sitting. It offers comprehensive support from head to legs, featuring independently adjustable lumbar support for additional lower back relief. Adaptable to your dynamic needs, with an adjustable headrest, armrests, backrest, and seat. Constructed with high-quality breathable mesh fabric and a "waterfall"-shaped high-density foam cushion for durability and comfort, making this chair an ideal choice for professional use. See more about the chair here.

After some backyard hogs in Oregon State contracted the bird flu, the Swine Health Information Center has its guard up. The highly pathogenic avian influenza is not the only animal disease that the center is watching, but it's new on the list since it was found in a few pigs in October. Associate Director Lisa Becton says SHIC has a new H5N1 Research Program and is seeking proposals. Becton also updates the Mid-West Farm Report on the Japanese encephalitis virus research. Finally, she highlights the Wean-to-Harvest Biosecurity Program that investigates research priorities in three areas – bioexclusion (keeping disease off the farm), biocontainment (after a break, keeping disease on the farm to lessen risk to neighbors), and transportation biosecurity (live haul, culls, markets, deadstock, and feed haul along with innovative ways to stop pathogens from moving from markets and concentration points back to the farm). The goal of the program is to leverage funds to develop new tools and technologies that can enhance biosecurity in the wean-to-harvest phases of swine production.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode Will reconnects with Bill Brown, co-founder of Confluence Behavioral Health in Vermont. Since their last conversation in 2019, Confluence has evolved significantly to meet the changing needs of young adults. Bill discusses how today's youth are internalizing their struggles more than ever, shifting from outward expressions of distress to feelings of self-hatred and isolation. Recognizing this change, Confluence adapted its wilderness therapy model by integrating nightly returns to their residential property, increasing accessibility through insurance coverage, and expanding services with Arete Transitions and a new Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Burlington. Bill emphasizes the importance of evolving treatment approaches to address the current mental health crisis among young adults. He notes that while the need for mental health services has risen, options have narrowed due to societal shifts and decreased parental willingness to engage in more challenging therapeutic interventions. Through innovative programs and a focus on integrating adventure therapy with clinical practices, Confluence aims to provide effective support tailored to the unique challenges faced by today's youth.

Solar trackers have swept the utility-scale solar industry in recent years, with single-axis trackers now deployed on a staggering 94% of large-scale projects. While a few big names dominate the tracker market, one company - Nevados Solar - has carved out a distinct niche with its unique all-terrain tracking technology. In this episode, host Tim Montague chats with Nevados founder and CEO Yezin Taha about how their innovative segmented torque tube design is helping developers tackle more challenging project sites while driving down the levelized cost of energy.Yezin shares the intriguing story of how a serious skiing accident and shattered leg put him on the path to starting Nevados after years working at large engineering firms. He explains how breaking the torque tube into linked segments allows Nevados' trackers to follow the natural contours of the land, greatly reducing the need for expensive and environmentally damaging grading. This terrain-following capability helps developers navigate permitting obstacles, shrink construction costs and timelines, and open up project opportunities on sites that would be infeasible with conventional trackers. As Yezin details, Nevados pairs its segmented hardware with smart software to optimize energy yields on the undulating ground - no easy feat. He dives into the sophisticated modeling tools the company has developed to accurately predict production and determine optimal module tilt angles on variable terrain slopes before construction.Key TakeawaysNevados has developed a novel single-axis tracker design using linked torque tube segments that can conform to sloped terrain with minimal grading or site disturbance.Their terrain-following trackers help developers avoid steep costs and permitting hurdles tied to major grading while enabling project construction on sites that would be unworkable for conventional trackers.Nevados' plug-and-play tracker installs 25% faster than standard trackers thanks to its straightforward design and self-aligning module attachments.Social Media HandlesYezin TahaNevados Support the showConnect with Tim Clean Power Hour Clean Power Hour on YouTubeTim on TwitterTim on LinkedIn Email tim@cleanpowerhour.com Review Clean Power Hour on Apple PodcastsThe Clean Power Hour is produced by the Clean Power Consulting Group and created by Tim Montague. Tax day is exciting enough, but what's better than starting the second half of the month on a Monday? Today we're talking about how the remaining Fisker Dealers are feeling as well as Ford and Tesla's tennis match.Show Notes with links:Despite Fisker ongoing financial troubles and a significant drop in stock price, the few remaining dealers like Fisker Indianapolis and Fisker Albany are staying positive and continue selling the Ocean crossover.Recent price cuts of nearly 40% on the Ocean model have spurred customer interest and sales, with Fisker Indianapolis reporting successful deliveries to out-of-state customers.Remaining Dealers are hopeful for the future, citing the Ocean's affordability and positive customer feedback on the vehicle's performance and design.Val Ranguelov, dealer principal at Fisker Albany in New York said, "As of now, we're still moving cars. Time will tell what happens. I love the car, it's very solid and very well-built. We just hope for the best."Classic Fisker of Atlanta continues to list Ocean inventory online. However, other early partners like Mills Automotive Group and Ourisman Automotive Group are distancing themselves from Fisker, reflecting varied dealer confidence in the brand's future. The OG empire is striking back as Ford introduces a $1,500 "Tesla Competitive Conquest Bonus Cash" rebate specifically targeting Tesla owners for the purchase of an F-150 Lightning or Mustang Mach-E to boost their EV sales.Any owner of a Tesla vehicle from 2008 or newer is eligible for this incentive, without the need to trade in their current vehicle.Ford is offering substantial discounts across various trims of the F-150 Lightning up to $12,500 as part of a broader strategy to enhance its competitiveness in the EV market. An entry-level Mach E starts around $38k with the added Tesla incentive cash"This incentive is available through July 8 for both the 2024 and 2023 model years, as we aim to attract Tesla loyalists and expand our customer baseMeanwhile, Tesla is deploying a dual effort of both slashing subscription prices and global layoffs in an effort to remain competitive as its Full Self-Driving subscription prices in half in the U.S. and Canada to $99 per month. Simultaneously, Tesla has announced layoffs exceeding 10% of its global workforce, impacting potentially 14,000 employees as it aims to eliminate role duplications and prepare for future growth phases. This includes a reduction in production shifts and a strategic pause in some manufacturing locations.Tesla is facing a rare year-over-year sales drop, particularly in China, where local EV makers are expanding rapidly.Hosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email
