We sent our resident rock dog Chris Neave along to the Hockey Fields tour at Enmore Theatre in Sydney. Here's how it went! Dear Seattle: Kicking off with Anthemic Tracks The night opened with Sydney's very own Dear Seattle from the northern beaches. With their anthemic tracks and powerful hooks, they effortlessly ignited the atmosphere, captivating the sold-out crowd from the very beginning to the last note of their set. The all-ages audience was already familiar with their music, evident from the enthusiastic singalongs to favorites like "Daytime TV." Dear Seattle set the stage for an electrifying evening. Ruby Fields: A Charismatic Dream Come True The spotlight then turned to Ruby Fields, who proved herself to be an exceptionally charismatic performer. Her band's tight chemistry coupled with her magnetic presence held the audience in the palm of her hand. As she confessed that performing at the Enmore Theatre was a dream come true, the crowd cheered in support. Ruby's live renditions of hits such as "Dinosaurs," "Ritalin," and "Song About A Boy" transcended the studio versions, leaving fans in awe of her talent and energy. Hockey Dad: Surf Rock Infused Anthems That Soared Taking the stage as the night's headliner, Hockey Dad faced the challenge of following two remarkable acts. However, they did so with finesse and style, delivering their signature surf rock-infused anthems that had the crowd singing along to every word. Tracks like "Join The Club" sent the energy levels soaring, raising the Enmore Theatre's roof to new heights. When Ruby Fields joined them onstage for a memorable collaboration, the night reached its pinnacle of euphoria. A Massive Success: The Hockey Fields Tour The combination of Ruby Fields and Hockey Dad proved to be an absolute hit. The Hockey Fields tour exemplified the vibrancy and creativity that continues to define the indie rock scene in Australia. From the mesmerizing performances to the heartwarming connection with the audience, it was evident that the night was a tremendous success for both artists and the fans. TLDRAs Chris reported from the Enmore Theatre, the Hockey Fields tour showcased the vitality of indie rock in Australia. From Dear Seattle's anthemic openers to Ruby Fields' charismatic dreams fulfilled, and Hockey Dad's roof-raising surf rock anthems, it was an evening filled with passion and talent. This event is a testament to the thriving music scene in the country and an exciting indication that great young live bands are still being produced in Australia.MORE DETAILS: https://articles.listnr.com/music/hockey-fields-review/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

When I say the name Virginia Trioli, what's the first thing that comes to mind? For me, I think boss. I think killer journalist who, when she does interviews, it's like watching sport. I think sharp wit, and big passion. If you listen to the Take 5 outside of Australia, you may not think anything… so let me catch you up. Virginia Trioli is a Walkley Award winning journo. Her career began in print media in Melbourne, before she pivoted to radio and then TV; holding it down as host of ABC News Breakfast for more than a decade. Along the way she's been at the helm of everything from current affairs to arts shows, and through it all her curiosity and commitment to holding those in power to account, shines through. She's also a massive music fan, and that part of her extraordinary life, just doesn't get as much time. So that's why I asked her to Take 5. I wanted to find out how music had played a role, as she cooked into the person she would become today. From Kate Bush to Faith No More, Prince to Ruby Fields, what a joy to peel back the curtain on Trioli's life. This is not only a brilliant Take 5, it's also the best counselling session you'll get for free; about finding your way and yourself in the potholes of life. When I say the name Virginia Trioli, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? For me, I think boss. I think killer journalist who, when she does interviews, it’s like watching sport. Along the way she’s been at the helm of everything from current affairs to arts shows, and through it all her curiosity and commitment to holding those in power to account, shines through. She’s also a massive music fan, and that part of her extraordinary life, just doesn’t get as much time. So that’s why I asked her to Take 5. I wanted to find out how music had played a role, as she cooked into the person she would become today. From Kate Bush to Faith No More, Prince to Ruby Fields, what a joy to peel back the curtain on Trioli’s life. This is not only a brilliant Take 5, it’s also the best counselling session you’ll get for free; about finding your way and yourself in the potholes of life. TOTTY: Live at Black Bear Lodge, Fortitude Valley, 13 September 2019 TOTTY formed in the small town of Berrara on the south coast of New South Wales in 2016. Initially a duo consisting of Kelly Jansch on vocals/guitar and Chris Peruch on drums, their earliest songs were recorded in a shed out the back of Jansch's mother's house. Moving north to Woolongong and picking up bass player Max Piroddi, TOTTY gradually grew their live following and secured support slots with bands including Drunk Mums, Horror My Friend, Ruby Fields and Skeggs. In May 2018 TOTTY were signed to Dune Rats' Ratbag Records and released their debut EP, "Cut the Poppies". Since then they've released an additional single, Lucky, in May 2019. Recorded by Lauren Holyoak Mixed by Conner McDonald Special thanks to live engineer Tim Roberts Show production, engineering and host: Scott Mercer Originally aired via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 10 November, 2019
Friends plural, you ask? Yep, that's right. For all intents and purposes, Ruby Fields is not one singer-songwriter but four best friends: Adam, Patrick, Ruby and Tarzo. They've been kicking around in one another's bands for years, all based out of the Sutherland Shire and its intrinsic music community. It wasn't until Ruby's music broke out just a couple of years ago, however, that business really picked up. Before a show in Canberra, all four members of the band shared stories from across their time playing music - together, separately and through the doldrums of day-jobs. Fair warning: Pretty lame and pretty tame this ain't. Ruby Fields will be playing two sold-out shows at the Brass Monkey in Cronulla this October, followed by a regional tour in November and December with LOSER. Warehouses, dive bars, boats... if there's a PA set up somewhere in New Zealand, there's a good chance Miss June have rocked it and then trashed the place. As one of the country's most sought-after live acts, the Auckland-based quartet have put in the hard yards on songs that are equal parts noisy, hooky and defiant - all before even so much as putting out their debut album. Today, that all changes - their debut album is finally here, and it's well worth the wait. Prior to all of that, however, lead vocalist Annabelle Lidell and guitarist Jun Park pulled up some stools prior to a gig in Canberra supporting Ruby Fields. Through fits of giggles and a half-dozen tangents, we spoke of the tight-knit NZ music community, the hotspots of the islands and how to handle a crowd that has no idea who you are. is out today via Frenchkiss Records.Bad Luck Party Catch Miss June live next week in Australia: September 11 - The Vanguard, Sydney w/ Georgia June and Good PashSeptember 12 - Croxton Bandroom, Melbourne w/ Dune Rats and West ThebartonSeptember 13 - Metro Theatre, Sydney w/ Dune Rats and West ThebartonSeptember 14 - The Triffid, Brisbane w/ Dune Rats and West Thebarton Special thanks to Rachel-Jones Williams, Sony Music Australia, Frenchkiss Records, the University of Canberra and Evan Birtwell. In the middle of the Ohio River, visible from I-65 and Louisville’s Portland neighborhood, is a tiny island called “Shippingport.” You can drive to the base of the island, but you’ll be met with an array of “no trespassing” signs and wire gates. And Curious Louisville listener Ruby Fields wanted to know what was behind them.
