In your own life or the life of others, have you noticed that people don't seem to love one another that much? In Three Short Years, Jesus chose to love others radically. How? One-way love. What is it? And to live it, what will it require of us?
Every single one of us wants to get to the end of our lives and feel like we fulfilled what we were put on this earth to do. We have many ideas of what this may look like whether it be making a lot of money or achieving some form of success. Jesus has an entirely different approach to what it looks like to fulfill our purpose but it comes with an incredible promise.

Look up any “how to retire early” guide online, and you'll see some basic information: invest in your 401(k), take advantage of your employer match, buy real estate, and invest the rest in index funds. While this type of advice is by no means wrong, it's geared almost entirely toward W2 workers with consistent income and a full stack of benefits. Those waiting tables, bartending, or doing any other service industry work don't fall into the “predictable income” category, so they often get left behind when spreading the word about building wealth. We wanted to fill the informational gap and give service industry workers EVERYTHING they need to know to turn tips into early retirement. The perfect person to teach us all about it? Barbara Sloan! She's the author of Tipped: The life changing guide to financial freedom for waitresses, bartenders, strippers, and all other service industry professionals. In it, she teaches those working for tips how to turn their inconsistent (and frequently non-taxed) income into a portfoliothat will make them set for life.Barbara walks through her money story, from getting deep into debt, moving to New York City with just $700, working at bars and Wall Street, and how she turned a fluctuating income into financial independence. She gives actionable advice on how ANY service industry worker can start saving, set up an emergency fund, and build wealth, even if they're not making a high income. She also explains why tip work like bartending and serving makes the ultimate retirement plan for those that have already hit FI!In This Episode We CoverHow to reach financial independence even when working for tips or on a low incomeWhy reporting income for taxes is a MASSIVE benefit when building wealthBuilding “buffers” and how to set yourself up for time off (even if you're not getting paid for it)Health insurance, retirement accounts, and how service-industry workers can get on par with W2 worker benefitsBuilding a budget and why tracking your expenses is CRUCIAL on a fluctuating incomeThe busiest times for tipping work and how to make the MOST money during every off-seasonAnd So Much More!Links from the ShowBiggerPockets Money Facebook GroupBiggerPockets ForumsFinance Review Guest OnboardingScott's InstagramMindy's TwitterListen to All Your Favorite BiggerPockets Podcasts in One PlaceApply to Be a Guest on The Money ShowPodcast Talent Search!Subscribe to The “On The Market” YouTube ChannelListen to The “On The Market” Podcast: Spotify, Apple Podcasts, BiggerPocketsCheck Out Mindy's 2022 Live Spending Tracker and BudgetShare your Money MomentHow to Become an “Overnight” Success in 10 Short Years with David GreeneFinance Friday: How to Get to Early Retirement Even FasterTipped Finance WebsiteClick here to check the full show notes: https://www.biggerpockets.com/blog/money-386Interested in learning more about today's sponsors or becoming a BiggerPockets partner yourself? Every entrepreneur wants to build a nine-figure business. Even a million dollars in revenue seems like a dream to the everyday American. So how did a Red Robin waiter, making five-dollar tips, leave college to start one of the fastest-growing real estate businesses in the country? Even better, how did he do it multiple times, creating not one, not two, but a group of entrepreneurial endeavors that casually bring in over nine figures each year? If you want to hear his system to success, you'll have to stick around.James Dainard didn't know much about real estate before college. After his roommate (and now business partner) started door knocking for local wholesalers, James decided to give it a try. He was miserable at it, barely getting a single deal done before leaving college. But, when offered a cushy six-figure salary, James declined, knowing that there were still riches to be made in real estate, but only if he worked smart.Fast-forward fifteen years and James owns a slew of real estate-related companies. From a luxury house flippingbusiness to hard money lending, a successful brokerage, a real estate development firm, and more, James didn't just master one business—he mastered anything he could get his hands on. The best part? You can do this too! James drops some time-tested gems on starting, building, and scaling a business that will allow you to grow at an almost unbelievable rate like he did.In This Episode We CoverWhy James declined a $200K salary (out of college) to make a business-bet on himselfDoor knocking, wholesaling, and the BEST ways to make money as a college studentFrugality, keeping expenses low, and the massive benefit of reinvesting every dollar you haveHard money lending, real estate syndications, and other highly-profitable businesses most investors are unaware ofStructuring your team and how to scale your business even if you don't have leadership experienceThe struggles of being a CEO and what to do when your strategy isn't workingWhy every business needs a “quarterback” and a “coach” to succeedAnd So Much More!Links from the ShowBiggerPockets Money Facebook GroupBiggerPockets ForumsFinance Review Guest OnboardingScott's InstagramMindy's TwitterListen to All Your Favorite BiggerPockets Podcasts in One PlaceApply to Be a Guest on The Money ShowPodcast Talent Search!Subscribe to The “On The Market” YouTube ChannelListen to The “On The Market” Podcast: Spotify, Apple Podcasts, BiggerPocketsCheck Out Mindy's 2022 Live Spending Tracker and BudgetOn The MarketFinancial Freedom Through Small Life Changes and a Modest Real Estate PortfolioHow to Become an “Overnight” Success in 10 Short Years with David GreeneClick here to check the full show notes: https://www.biggerpockets.com/blog/money-384Interested in learning more about today's sponsors or becoming a BiggerPockets partner yourself? Even before Covid, parenting was hard. According to physician, writer, and father of three young children, Andrew Bomback, “From day one, parenting can feel like a version of ‘we are flying the plane as we build it.'” Bomback investigates the emergence of an immersive, all-in approach to raising children that has made parenting a competitive (and often not very enjoyable) sport. He considers the high costs of commercialized parenting (from the babymoon on), the pressure on mothers to have it all (and do it all), the perils of parenting during a pandemic, and much more. A nephrologist by profession, Bomback shows how being a parent, like being a doctor, has migrated away from a “calling” and toward a “job.” We hear what he learned from interviews with other parents as well as stories of his own experiences as a father—the good, the bad, and the two-hour bedtime ritual that ended with his oldest son throwing a Chapstick at his head. As he explores the anxiety that plagues modern parents, he offers both a window and a mirror into how 21st century mothers and fathers are trying to enjoy their time with their children, because “The days are long, but the years are short.”

When did "parenting" become a verb? Why is it so hard to parent, and so rife with the possibility of failure? Sitcom families of the past--the Cleavers, the Bradys, the Conners--didn't seem to lose any sleep about their parenting methods. Today, parents are likely to be up late, doomscrolling on parenting websites. In Long Days, Short Years: A Cultural History of Modern Parenting (MIT Press, 2022), Andrew Bomback--physician, writer, and father of three young children--looks at why it can be so much fun to be a parent but, at the same time, so frustrating and difficult to parent. It's not a "how to" book (although Bomback has read plenty of these) but a "how come" book, investigating the emergence of an immersive, all-in approach to raising children that has made parenting a competitive (and often not very enjoyable) sport. Drawing on parenting books, mommy blogs, and historical accounts of parental duties as well as novels, films, podcasts, television shows, and his own experiences as a parent, Bomback charts the cultural history of parenting as a skill to be mastered, from the laid-back Dr. Spock's 1950s childcare bible--in some years outsold only by the actual Bible--to the more rigid training schedules of Babywise. Along the way, he considers the high costs of commercialized parenting (from the babymoon on), the pressure on mothers to have it all (and do it all), scripted parenting as laid out in How to Talk So Kids Will Listen, parenting during a pandemic, and much more. Ask any older parent and they'll tell you that the childhood years will be over before you know it. Ask a younger parent and time has slowed to a crawl. Hence, "Long Days, Short Years". Andy Bomback is not only an author and parent, he's a doctor as well, which means he has to juggle a scientific mind with the behavior of a small child, who you could argue behave the opposite of scientifically. After his enlistment and Literally digging his boots through the hot sands of IRAQ. He spent a year there only seeing 4 actual days of Combat. While ducking and dodging bullets in the Persian Gulf, he held onto to his dream of one day becoming a successful actor, it was this vision that carried him through. Upon returning to Los Angeles, David's big break came when he was scouted from an acting workshop taught by Chip Fields, mother of "Gimme a Break" and "Living Single" star Kim Fields. What's stopping you from becoming debt-free? Everyone's answers will vary, but one truth remains the same—excessive debt can prevent you from living the life you deserve. Today's guest, Joe Bussey, took control of his life once he decided to pay off his $220,000 worth of debt and build a “financial runway” he could rely on.Joe's debt accumulated as he did what everyone in his life told him to. He was in pursuit of a college education when his life took a series of unexpected and unfortunate twists and turns. It all started when he got robbed at gunpoint for all the money he saved for college. From there, he had to start from scratch to save up for school. He had to work several jobs, once working five jobs at a time, to keep up with rent and student loan payments. He then went back to school to pursue a better career but ended up in school for five more years—forcing him to take out even more student loans.By the time he graduated, he was $220,000 in debt. After graduation, Joe was only making $1,000 a month and eventually fell into a deep depression. It was then Joe decided he needed a change, so he wrote out all his worries and came to one conclusion—they were financial problems. After doing some research, Joe came across BiggerPockets and Set for Life. He read the book cover to cover in one day, and a light bulb went off. After reading the book, Joe took control of his finances, saving up $25,000 in his bank account while paying off $100,000 in just fourteen months! In This Episode We CoverFinancial runways and how to create financial security from scratch How to become “set for life” and the actionable steps you can take to start your journey to financial freedom Living off less than half your income and the importance of earning more and spending lessUsing your Roth IRA to maximize retirement savings and find financial peaceThe benefits of paying off student loans now and how to refinance themAnd So Much More!Links from the ShowBiggerPockets Money Facebook GroupBiggerPockets ForumsFinance Review Guest OnboardingMindy's TwitterScott's InstagramApply to Be a Guest on The Money ShowPodcast Talent Search!Subscribe to The “On The Market” YouTube ChannelListen to The “On The Market” Podcast: Spotify, Apple Podcasts, BiggerPocketsHow to Become an “Overnight” Success in 10 Short Years with David GreeneStudent Loans Update: Repayment, Refinancing, and Potential Forgiveness w/ Robert FarringtonHow to Find Free Money to Finance Your Education & Avoid Extensive Student DebtSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

William Perry Pendley former Director the Bureau Land Management under the Trump administration brings a real world perspective to the lack of management we currently have on 245 million acres.
We have a multi-family investor, syndicator, and entrepreneur sharing the gist of his 15-year career in real estate. He managed large operational budgets, led operations in enterprise IT, and eventually founded Realty Dynamics. Our guest lived quite a different life before making this career shift. Breaking out of the corporate matrix and re-engineering your life takes a lot of willpower and commitment. Agostino Pintus gives us nuggets of advice on how the 40-hour workweek may be keeping people from living to their fullest. He tells us how he escaped the cycle of dreading Mondays and praying for Fridays to come. Listen in to find out how he continued his pursuit of financial freedom and overcame the problems with this journey. Key Takeaways:[1:32] Agostino, who is of Italian descent, dedicated his career to the corporate tech industry, and eventually, out of his realizations, he transitioned to real estate. [5:43] He had already started on single-family houses but stopped due to life circumstances. All the while, he noticed his real estate portfolio was still giving him returns, so he committed to pursuing investing in multi-family properties while trying to secure another job. [10:02] He gradually built his real estate businesses in partnership with developers and now has his fourth business that gives aid to single-families in getting their homes. [14:27] Agostino trained as if his life depended on it. He acquired skills in deal-making and getting sharp on how to raise money. [20:13] He likens his real estate career to his aspiration to become a pilot. He developed a healthy obsession for both to pre-master the craft before executing it. [23:31] He discusses the midwest markets and how every need has a deal. He also elaborates on making solid partnerships. He highlights how minor things will tell you what kind of people they are. [32:30] There are lots of different kinds of plans in real estate. Agostino encourages focusing on one and committing to it 100% to get out of toxic cycles. [41:28] Agostino believes that the primary education one experiences limit the capabilities and opportunities one can get. That is why it is essential to observe the bigger picture of one's career and life in general.
