In this powerful episode of Healthy Mind, Healthy Life, host Avik Chakraborty sits down with Barbara Gustavson, a brain health educator and neuroscience-informed leadership coach. Together, they explore what it truly means to reset your thinking in a high-stress world. Barbara shares real-life stories, including her own caregiving journey, and introduces a practical REGROUP framework for calming the nervous system, reclaiming energy, and leading from alignment. This conversation is a must-listen for leaders, caregivers, and anyone ready to shift from survival to sustainable strength—one breath at a time. About the Guest:Barbara Gustavson is a leadership coach and brain health educator who guides professionals through burnout recovery and mental reset using neuroscience-backed tools. With personal experience as a long-term caregiver, she now teaches others how to recognize early signs of nervous system overload and reconnect with resilience using her unique REGROUP framework. Her work emphasizes the importance of micro-resets, self-leadership, and prioritizing brain health. Key Takeaways: Burnout often starts with subtle signs—like sleep disruption, brain fog, and feeling the need to do it all. Barbara's “REGROUP” method helps you regulate your nervous system, identify energy drains, and reconnect with your inner resilience. Small shifts like breathwork or reframing negative thoughts can lead to big changes in mental clarity and emotional stability. Resilience isn't about pushing harder—it's about aligning with your values, practicing margin, and honoring your energy. Neuroplasticity proves the brain can heal. Gentle, consistent tools work better than massive overhauls. China is emerging from the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran in a much weaker position. For years, Beijing counted on Tehran to serve as a bulwark against Washington. Today, though, that's no longer possible as the Iranian government and its proxies across the Middle East have been neutralized, at least for now. The conflict also exposed a major Chinese vulnerability following threats that Iran might close the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for the attacks on its nuclear facilities. This would be devastating for the Chinese economy, given that between a third and half of all Chinese oil imports pass through this strategic waterway. Ahmed Aboudouh, head of the China research unit at the Emirates Policy Center and an associate fellow in the Chatham House Middle East and North Africa program, joins Eric & Cobus to discuss the new realities facing Beijing in the aftermath of the war in Iran. They also examine how the main opposition People Power Party is handling defeat, including floor leader Kweon Seong-dong's resignation and former candidate Kim Moon-soo's finger-pointing over internal party sabotage. Hour 3 - The Knicks need to get over last night and get themselves ready to play a massive Game 2 at The Garden.
Introduction: Host Michael Rand starts with some lingering thoughts from the Wolves' blowout 114-88 loss to the Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals. In some ways it was a make-or-miss game, with the Wolves missing a lot of open shots. In other ways, it came down to composure. Minnesota will need to be better in both capacities on Thursday. 9:00: Star Tribune columnist Chip Scoggins joins Rand to talk about Paige Bueckers, the former Hopkins standout who will return to Minnesota for her third WNBA game on Wednesday. 26:00: An OT loss for the Frost and another wet day for the Twins.
Vladimir Putin's obsession with dominating Ukraine stems from a mix of geopolitical paranoia, historical revisionism, and authoritarian self-preservation. He views Ukraine's westward shift in political aspirations and values—especially EU integration—as a direct threat to Russia's sphere of influence and his regime's legitimacy and indeed survivability. Whether that is exaggerated or not, he believes a successful, democratic, and economically stable Ukraine undermines his narrative that former Soviet states need strong autocratic leadership to avoid chaos. It means that he won't stop until Ukraine is subjugated or destroyed. By subjugating Ukraine, he hopes to reassert Russia's status as a great power, discourage other neighbours from pivoting west, and distract from domestic issues through nationalist fervour. Ultimately, Putin fears the erosion of Russia's imperial legacy and the contagion of democratic aspirations among his own people—making Ukraine not just a strategic interest, but an existential concern for his rule and survival. ----------Richard Shirreff is Co-founder and Managing Partner at Strategia Worldwide. Lately holiday gatherings that can feel like emotional minefields have been weighing heavy with a lot of my clients. Listen, I get it - there's Aunt Martha asking why you're not wearing a wig, your well-meaning mom hovering over every bite you take, and maybe those relatives who just can't stop giving their "expert" medical advice. We need to talk about this! Not just the surface stuff, but really dive into what's happening in our brains during these moments and why we react the way we do. In this episode, I'm sharing everything I've learned about taking back your power during these moments - from the incredible research of Dr. Tara Swart about how we're influenced by the five people closest to us (hello, holiday family tree!), to the practical tools I've developed through my own cancer journey. We're going to talk about real situations, real emotions, and real solutions that work, even when you're feeling overwhelmed. You've got more power than you realize, and I'm going to show you exactly how to tap into it, especially during those challenging family moments. Remember, you get to choose how you want to show up, no matter what anyone else brings to the table. So grab your favorite cozy drink, find a quiet spot, and let's dig into this together. Trust me, by the end of this episode, you'll have a whole new perspective on those holiday gatherings - and more importantly, on your own power to handle them. What You'll Learn How your brain's amygdala influences emotional reactions during family gatherings The science behind why certain family members trigger stress responses Understanding and applying Dr. Tara Swart's People Tree concept Practical techniques for maintaining emotional boundaries during holidays How to integrate Laura Lummer's "Regroup" principle into family situations Science-based strategies for managing holiday stress as a cancer survivor Key Topics Covered

Georgia Democrats are grappling with the future of their party after Donald Trump's convincing 120,000-vote win in the state this year. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio discussing the worst result of the season for this USC football team, an upset loss on the road to Minnesota and the need for a quick turnaround with the No. 4 Nittany Lions coming to town. Connor and Ryan talk about the struggles these Trojans have had in conference play, especially on the road, and what they need to do to get a much needed victory over one of the best teams in the country. The guys have updates from what head coach Lincoln Riley had to say during his media appearances including injury updates, linebacker Eric Gentry potentially shutting it down after multiple concussions and his interaction with the Big Ten conference regarding the questionable calls in the game at Minnesota. As bad as the loss to the Golden Gophers was, USC does have a tremendous opportunity to get things going in the right direction by defeating a top-5 Penn State program on Saturday. The guys talk about this game and some of the strengths and weaknesses of this Nittany Lions squad. They also discuss the Trojans lack of explosive plays, new concerns on tackling, USC being "2 plays away from 5-0," the end of the National Letter of Intent, USC basketball's scrimmage and lots more. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio discussing how the Trojans are trying to move on from the heartbreaking loss to Michigan this week and looking ahead to Wisconsin for the first Big Ten game in the Coliseum. The guys talk about what head coach Lincoln Riley had to say on Trojans Live and after Tuesday's practice plus what the offensive players talked about including Woody Marks and his amazing strip of the football that essentially kept the Trojans in the game against Michigan. They also look ahead to an important matchup against Wisconsin and talk about how the Trojans will try to get right on offense and keep the high level defensive play going against the Badgers. If getting pushed around by Michigan's defensive front wasn't enough to light a fire under this Trojan offense, knowing former DC Alex Grinch and former starting linebacker Tackett Curtis are on the opposing sidelines should be all the motivation Miller Moss and company needs. Outside of three plays, the USC defense played extremely well against the Wolverines and a similar effort should be enough to shut down Wisconsin who is without its starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke. They also give their thoughts on the Bear Alexander situation with some interesting comments on social media from his camp and former USC football players. On Tuesday Lincoln Riley said, "there's no story there," but the social media posts keep coming. CLICK HERE for 30% OFF an annual VIP membership to USCFootball.com!
