Sifiso Mkhwanazi has been found guilty by the Gauteng High Court sitting in Palm for killing six Johannesburg sex workers. On Wednesday Judge Cassim Moosa found Mkhwanazi guilty of six counts of murder, six of rape, six of defeating the ends of justice, and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The high court sitting in Palm Ridge, on Gauteng's East Rand, has found 22-year-old self-confessed sex worker murderer, Sifiso Mkhwanazi guilty of the murder and rape of 6 sex workers. Mkhwanazi was arrested and admitted to killing the sex workers and hiding their bodies in his father's workshop in Johannesburg between April and October 2022. During Mkhwanazi's trial, the defense argued that he and the women engaged in consensual sex, alleging that he only murdered the sex workers in fear, after a disagreement over payment. Speaking on behalf of the Meyiwa family, AfriForum's advocate Gerrie Nel says they are devastated that the murder trial of the soccer star, who died in October 2014, will have to restart. TimesLIVE also spoke to Meyiwa's brother Sifiso, who says the case is now in the right hands. The trial, which is set to resume in July, will start de novo (from scratch) due to the appointment of a new judge. Retired judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng is being tipped to take over from judge Tshifhiwa Maumela.

The National Prosecuting Authority has expressed shock at the decision by Advocate Malesela Teffo, to withdraw as legal representative for accused one to four in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case. Teffo cited harassment for his decision but says he will remain on a watching brief on behalf of Meyiwa's brother, Sifiso. Teffo has withdrawn from defending accused numbers one to four in the case being heard at the High Court in Pretoria. He says he was considered a problematic advocate. Siyabonga Shibe is a South African actor best known for his leading roles in the SABC1 drama series Gaz'lam (2002-2005) and Bay of Plenty, from 2007-2008. Siyabonga grew up in Umlazi in Kwa-Zulu Natal. From an early age he knew he wanted to be an actor and after matriculating he studied drama at Natal Technicon. After graduating in 1999 he moved to Johannesburg to pursue a career in acting. His first part was in the international feature film, The Stripes Of A Hero and the role of Sifiso in the TV series Gaz'lam followed. In this episode he lets us into his world.

"After more than seven years since the death of former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa, there's still no clarity of who killed him. The trial date was set for April 2022 but his brother Sifiso Meyiwa in this interview still alleges that the real suspects for this case are not those who have been arrested.
